  • No e-mail icon with Curve 8520 v5 upgrade

After completing Version 5 upgrade, I don't have an icon on my home screen to send or receive e-mail.
I went into setup and my email account was already there.  I ended up deleting it and adding it again.  When I did this, I got a messge that a "new icon for this mailbox has been added to the home screen."  Went to look and it's still not there.  Took out the battery and rebooted.  Still not there.
Finally discovered that I could get to my email but accessing SMS/MMS (texting) icon.  I sent an e-mail to someone and all my received e-mail that I haven't been able to access was there.  This is very cumbersome way of getting to my email and obviously not the way it's suppose to work.
How do I get my email icon added to my home screen?

In OS 5, your talking about the icon that I refer to as the "General" message folder. You can chose which notifications arrive in that folder SMS, MMS, Email, Call notifications. Find that icon and click on it, then click menu button and scroll to Options and then select what you do and do not want to appear in that folder/icon.

From the "front" screen, highlight an icon on the bottom and then hit the menu button. Now you are on the main menu sreen full of icons. Have a look for your email icon. Not there? Hit menu and "Show All." Still not there? Go into each icon, start with downloads, and do the show all again.
Once you find the email icon you can move it to the top row of the main icon screen and it will then be on the front screen.

  • Lost Icon in my Curve 8520

Hi to all...this is my first post in this forum.
I´ve been used my Curve 8520 every day with no problem but I updated my device sw yesterday and I lost the icon and the function to block the keyboard. How can I fix this problem?
    Thanks
    Sergio

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Depending on what level you updated to, the function changed. Somewhere in the 5.x BB OS series, the old method was replaced. How it works now is thus. To simply lock the keypad, use the hard button on top of the BB. If you assign a device lock password, you then will have an icon on your homescreen by which to force it into an early password lock state.
This is how it now works. There is no way to change it except to fall back to a version prior to when the functionality changed.
    Good luck!

  • Help blackberry curve 8520 screen gone white with funny icon and saying reload softwear 552

hello my blackberry curve 8520 screen has gone white and funny  circle icon has come up with reload softwear 552 at bottum of screen what do i do as it wont do anything ive tried battry pull and turned back on and it still brings that up
    Solved!

It seems that you have not installed the correct blackberry software for your device, or might be select the incorrect carrier for your blackberry handheld. You need to download the correct blackberry software with your service provider and before installing the software, disconnect your BB device from the computer and then install it with proper administrative privilege.
After installing the software on your computer, make sure to hard boot your blackberry handheld before connecting it to your computer. If the same problem persists, then use JVM Loder to complete wipe your blackberry device memory then connect with the desktop manager and install the software.
    Good luck..!!!

  • Curve 8520 BBM scam messages

I'm receiving loads of BBM's in what looks like Arabic.  The messages come up in red and come from ID's such as 23956AC8 or 297D310A.  I've called my network provider Vodafone but they say I need to get this sorted through Blackberry.
Anyone got any ideas how i can sort this please?

My BBM messenger sent working curve 8520  ive tried turning if taking battery out and all I get is the 3 lines  to say its sending but it never send to no one please help me

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Given what you state, you are still using your home carrier SIM and are attempting to use your services via an International Roaming plan provided by your home carrier. Such can be challenging for some carriers to properly configure...I had two "failed" international trips before my prior carrier could properly configure my international roaming.
The challenge is that the configuration that your home carrier must do must be done while your BB is actually on your home carrier network; changes to the configuration cannot be done while you are actually roaming. To make this even more challenging, testing of the configuration cannot happen until you travel and attempt to use it.
This creates a great challenge -- if they configure it incorrectly before you leave your home network, and the testing fails when you travel, then they (your home carrier) typically can do nothing about it until your device returns to your home carrier network. (Hence those two "failed" trips of mine that I mentioned earlier.)
As far as I understand, your only option is to wait until you return home and then talk to your home carrier again, letting them know what happened, and hope that they can fix it for your next trip.
    Good luck!

  • Cannot Send and Receive bbm to Curve 8520

Hi, I just came from Dubai and currently in the Philippines where I avail bbm promo through Smart. The customer service has changed my settings and has done too many reports to settle my blackberry issue wherein ?I cannot send message through bbm and it takes 3 hrs before I received a message from bbm

So, you've activated BIS and BBM isn't working. Try checking if you've enabled data services on your BlackBerry Curve 8520. Try referring to this article and let us know if it helps.

  • BBM 7 is not working at all on blackberry curve 8520

Bbm 7 is not working at all on my blackberry curve 8520 and I have tried to install it several times and my app world has said it has been installed but its still the same 6v software I had from before. Getting tired of this 'booky' software.

I'm sorry but the BBM is only for OS 6 and higher. That's what I find during my research which I did today!

At what point does it stop you from reading your messages? Will the application launch but you are not able to pull up any conversations?

  • Curve 8520 - Constant Loading Icon

    Hey,
I own a BlackBerry Curve 8520, and whenever I'm doing simple things such as texting, i'll type a few letters and will have to wait for ages until the loading icon goes off. It's happened for a while and is getting **bleep** annoying now. Any advice?

Go to Options>Memory and see what your app memory free space is. That would be the place to start.

  • BlackBerry Curve 8520 Battery life issue and Loading icon

Hello, I have an issue with my BlackBerry Curve 8520, the problem is that it has extremely low battery life and half the time it has the loading circle thing in the middle, I first thought it was my batteries fault but after buying a new battery the loading circle thing still comes up but not as much but the battery life is still extremely low (locked or on standby whatever its called it lasts around 2-3 hours, Ive turned off my bluetooth and the problem still remains please help!

Anthony (or anyone else monitoring this thread):
So, what was the outcome of the troubleshooting session with "windycity"?
I don't have a problem with a mysterious icon; however, the anemic battery issue is exactly as windycity described: new charged-up Samsung Haven phone is on; no calls in or out; no text messages either; however, in slightly less than 24 hours, the Haven goes from having a fully-charged battery to one that's dead, or just about.
Like windycity, I bought this simple phone for my father, who just wants a phone he can make voice calls with, nothing more.
However, the sad peformance of this phone+battery has not helped me in my campaign to at least get him to dip his toes into the digital stream -- in fact, he wants me to take it back and cancel the plan!
I'd really rather not do that, but we'll need some kind of resolution to this problem first.

ndvia, Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Community Support Forums.
    1. Use your BlackBerry browser to go to http://blackberry.com/blackberrymessenger and download/install the Messenger application again. If it asks to go to AppWorld to download this, don't, just follow the link to download.
After installation and possibly another reboot, check your Instant Messaging Folder, or Downloads folder for the application.
    2. I assume this is in regard to your BlackberryID password?
    BlackBerry ID issues:
In many cases the BlackBerry ID has not been created successfully and therefore will not let you past that screen.... go to www.blackberry.com/blackberryid and try to create a new BlackBerry ID , and then log in from the device.
Still others have been sucessful by editing to allow ALL permissions for App World.
    * Go to Options/Settings > Advanced Options > Applications, (you will see your list of all your apps on your BlackBerry)
    * Sroll down to BlackBerry App World, > Click the Menu key > Edit Permissions, and change everything to allow and save it.
Now go back to your App World login and see if it works.
REMEMBER, you can also have your BlackBerryID password send you a reset also:
