No best bet shown

I've configured some best bet - but on the search result page they are not shown, even though that I've inserted the "Search best bet" webpart... I've the standard result page, with refinement panel etc.
can someone point me to the solution for solving this?

According to your description, my understanding is that there was not result when you used best bet in SharePoint Search.
Firstly, please make sure that you have configured best bet in Search Keyword correctly. You can check it as the link:

If you configured search best bet at search center subsite. You need to enable custom scope in the parent site and fill in the appropraite link to your subsite.
In addition, Search Best Bets web part works only when it is added on the content search results page(results.aspx). This web part doesn't work when it is added on the people search results page(peopleresults.aspx).

REST API and best bets / query rules

Is there a bug in this? I can not get best bet results regardless of the query string. For example, the following (according to MSDN documentation) should process the query rules and return a best bet. But it doesnt. Am I doing something
wrong in the query? It only seems to return ordinary results. Performing the same search via Sharepoint's UI returns the best bet at the top.

Hi Scott,
With EnableQueryRules and ProcessBestBets set to true in the search rest api, we can get the promoted results(best bets) in SharePoint 2013.
I recommend to type the search rest api URL in the browser directly and then check if the best bets are displayed at the top of the search results.
It will not displayed inside the table for normal results.
Please also make sure that the query text matches the query rule condition.

Keyword/best bet migration to 2013

Has anyone found a way to migrate/upgrade keywords in a site collection from 2010 to 2013? I have seen mention of the ability to convert the keyword/bestbet to a query rule. Thanks for any suggestions.

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to migrate the best bets/keywords from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013.
As we all know, the best bets/keywords are changes to query rules in SharePoint 2013.
I recommend to export the best bets/keywords to CSV file and then import
best bets as Query Rule in SharePoint 2013 using PowerShell.

Migrating Best-bets and Visual Best-bets to SharePoint Online

Hello Experts,
I understood that ther is a promoted result feature in the query rules section that can be used as an equivalent of FAST best-bets and visual best-bets.
But in our FAST search 2010, we have close to 2000 of them. How is it possible to migrate them to SPO searach? Manually adding them is definitly the last option and not recommended as well.
Is there a way we can import/export or any CSOM or PS CMDLETs or any other new thing that is available that can automate this migration?

Best bet disapear when select site refiner

I've some best bet in my SharePoint 2010 server, it works correctly.
When i filter (with refinement panel site), my best bet disapear.
Do you know a way to correct this?

I understand that the Best Bets links disappeared when choosing refiners in Refinement web part.
Per my knowledge, the Best Bets are used to display the links that you defined at the top of the search results page when searching with the specific keyword.
However, the links defined in Best Bets are not included in the real search results when searching the keyword. If the link has something associated with the keyword, the same links will also be displayed in the real search results.
So if we choose refiners in the result page, then it will filter the real search results without the Best Bets links and the links will not be displayed in the search results.
It is by design that Best Bets links disappeared when choosing refiners in Refinement web part.

Best bets to extend/boost signals from Airport and AP Extreme

I have a network that uses an Airport Extreme as a base station downstairs in a corner of the house and an Airport Express upstairs at the opposite end of the house. The Express was purchased to improve signal and range.
I get enough bandwidth to open/send emails upstairs and render webpages (albeit slowly) but I cannot stream any media. The upstairs signals on my iPad or iPhone is low.
I've been looking at some range extenders (like Netgear) but wanted to see if Apple people had a better idea. I want something easy to set up that is "fire and forget." Hence, I am skeptical about Netgear (or Linksys) for that matter.

First off, neither Netgear nor Linksys products would be compatible with Apple's "extend a wireless network" feature.
In general, the best location for an "extending" device is a point that is approximately 1/2 the distance from the AirPort Extreme and general area that needs more wireless coverage.
Reason.....The AirPort Express and other devices like them do not "boost" the signal. The "extend" or "repeat" the signal, so they can only "extend" the quality of signal that they receive.
Most users tend to locate the extending device much too far away from the main router for it to work effectively.
I suggest that you experiment a bit with different locations for the Express to see if performance will improve.
If it does not, then you'll need to look at another option like running an Ethernet cable from the AirPort Extreme to the AirPort Express, or if you can't run the cable, using a pair of Ethernet powerline adapters to send a pseudo Ethernet signal over the existing powerlines in your home.

2011 MacBook Pro with Parallels 6/Windows 7/Office 2010 Best Bets

I will be purchasing the new 13" 2011 MacBook Pro and plan to install Parallels 6, Windows 7 and Office 2010. My research so far suggests:
- I should up to 8GB of memory and the 128GB solid state hard drive
- Windows 7 Home Premium is the correct option to enable use of of Office 2010 Home and Business 2010, and I should install the 32 Bit version of Windows 7
- Parallels 6 is a feasible alternative to using Boot Camp
Does anyone advise a different or better approach if my ultimate requirement is to be able to run Office 2010 in the Mac environment?
Does anyone recommend an existing online resource which might already address this scenario?
One post here stated that a Quad Core processor is preferable for the Parallels/Window 7/Office 2010 scenario, but the QCs are obviously only available with the 15" and 17". Is the Quad Core recommendation commonly held?

Right you install Windows 7 and Office in Boot Camp.. then create a VM and tell it to use the Boot camp partition as the hard drive and it will use the installation that is already there. You won't have to install anything again... and you can use it either way... with boot camp or your VM of choice. What is my best bet in restoring my partial library against my iphone?

Hi everyone,
Looking for a little advice in restoring my music library.
I had my main 500gb drive crash which was partitioned into c: and d: with d: being the location of my music library.
I lost my .itl, but have my music library and .xml file.
I found a slightly older .itl backup, and have the majority of my playlists backed onto my iphone.
I installed a new SSD for my system drive and partioned another disc for just music again, but it had a different drive letter then before.
Now I have had success importing from the old .itl but with no files linked to their locations.
I would also like to import the playlists from my phone. What an earth is my best approach to this?!

Audio Interface with Logic-best bet?

I've been using a Firepod for the last 2 years and it's fine but today a friend of mine brought over a MOTU MK3 Traveller and it sounds so much better. He got it recently but has to sell it and offered it to me for a good deal. It's got me thinking that maybe I should have a look at some other stuff before committing so now I'm looking at the Duet or maybe even an Ensemble. The Firepod was nice because of all the inputs but I could live with only two(Duet) but would much prefer four mic inputs(Ensemble).
The Ensemble might be out of my budget at the moment so do I buy the MOTU MK3 Traveller(four inputs) off my friend or get the Duet?
Any Advice?

I have and love the Apogee Duet, and it has served me well so far at home and doing field recordings with my Macbook Pro.
For instance, last week I recorded a sitar concert, and brought a small setup - a matched set of Rode NT1As, an A.R.T. MPA GOLD two channel tube pre, and my Macbook Pro/Duet combo. I barely had any time to get situated, and what's more, I got pulled into setting levels for the PA, which was kind of dicey, since the sitar master opted to forgo doing a soundcheck before the concert, so I had to wing it.
Before I scooted over to the board for the PA, I took an educated guess at some levels for the Duet and MPA GOLD. The Duet has such a low noise floor and such ample headroom that my educated guess was more than good enough. What's more, it is quite easy to use, so it took no time at all to dial in the gain setting I wanted, using the Maestro software that comes with it. The recording sounds gorgeous, considering the rushed circumstances of its setup. I would describe the quality of the Duet's sound as "crystalline."
That said, if you are looking for more channels in but are not ready to spend Ensemble money, we have a Mackie Onyx 1620 at work (or 1640 - I don't remember) that I use all the time for tracking all kinds of performers. Its pres are quiet and transparent, although they only provide so much gain. We run 4 channels of outboard pres through compressors and into four of the Onyx's pres. 8 XLR ins, 8 more ins arrayed in stereo pairs, all 16 channels are piped via Firewire 400 into Logic, and the two output channels back out. Plus, its a great mixer for conventional mixing purposes - good eq, simple, sturdy design. Not bad for under $1,000. I just saw they have a newer version out - the Onyx 1620i, but I don't know what that "i" is designating as far as improvements. They make Onyx mixers in several models, each with a different number of channels, so maybe one of these would work for you...

Fusion Drive: the best bet?

I'm a graphic designer that works on some fairly intensive Adobe Creative Suite files. I'm about to get a new iMac and am debating going between the 1TB fusion drive, or the 512 flash storage. How do Fusion drives fare with "power users" or whatever? Am I better off just sticking with the Flash storage?

     If space is a big issue and you don't want an external sitting around that might tip you toward a fusion drive. It's nice to be uncluttered. If you will do much video work you'll want an external anyway so that might tip you to a pure SSD internal.
     A pure SSD internal will be faster. Since Apple uses slow 5400 drives in their fusion drives I would not personally bother with them since I do video and need an external anyway.
     If you want pure speed an SSD is the way to go. Fusion drives are faster than non fusion but slower than SSD. Either way you want an external backup so personally I think an SSD with an one external for storage and one for backup is the way to go for most heavy users. I have four external drives in two cases and backups for them.

My company is using a Mobileiron server & configuration. The userprofile and setting blocked the access to the mobile network. after deleting & re-installing them it worked!

No Main Audio, Secondary Audio, What's My Best Bet?

During a shoot our cam with the mic did not record. A second camera picked up the person talking with the camera mic. If I turn up the audio to 12DB it is workable for the 30 second clip. The only problem is he is dribbling a basketball which is very loud and talking while dribbling. Any hope here?

How to find out the size of a node before it is shown?

I am trying to anchor two nodes (say A & B) to the top of an anchor pane such that B is laid out below A. To accomplish this, I need to provide an anchor offset for the control B, which has to be height of the node A. However, as the containing Stage has not been shown yet, the A's node getWidth() method returns 0 (zero). Since, node A's size is computed based on its contents, I can't hardcode its size. So, I am at a loss how to provide the height of the node A in a dynamic manner.
Please feel free to ask me to clarify the question if I didn't make myself clear enough.

If one of the existing layouts doesn't work for you, then you can create your own. A little bit harder to do, but this would be your best bet since there is no trickery involved. Basically, all you have to do is override the layoutChildren() and the computePrefXXX (and, perhaps computeMinXXX) methods from Parent.
Here is any overly simplified example that lays out three circles like a traffic light:
