No black printing

I have a photsmart 3110 that doesn't want to print black.
It will print any other colour except black. Black and white documents are blank peices of paper. Sometimes we get a 0xc19a0013 error, but thats just related to the black ink. I have installed new in cartriges (didnt change anything), then did a reset about 10 times (didnt change anything) and did a print head clean a couple of times (didnt change anything).
The printer is useless without the black, it cant even do photos without it.
Please help

Hi insideoutpanda
Are you seeing any black on the Diagnostic page?

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A Plus - By passing expired Color Cartridges to print only in Black printing.

    Hi,
    Problem:
fIt seems that this model of printer has a built in protocol which makes the printer inoperable if any of the colour cartridges are past their expiry date. Attempts to print solely in black are also being prevented because of this.
Does anybody know how permit black printing only without the need to replace colour cartridges rarely used.
Apple Mac PCs and laptops are connected to the printer wirelessly.
I look forward to any info which rids me of this frustrating problem.

Hello popkc, and welcome to the HP Forums.
I see you are looking into ink options.  Due to the design of the printer, it does require functional ink as to not cause damage to the print system.  There is no way to override this.

  • White stripe on black printing OfficePro8500

    Hi,
I was printing my greetings cards, and an white stripe appears on the black printing.
I Think that the printer have to be re calibrate, but how to do it.
    Thanks and happy new year
    Hubertus

It shouldn't be normal but it does happen.
I have to say that I do have a slightly brighter band across the top of the screen myself although it is even all the way across and is less than a few pixels in size. Not to mention it's lessening as time goes on. Fortunately it doesn't bother me at all as it's masked by the menu bar.
If it truly concerns you take it into a store for them to look at it else contact AppleCare.

  • Error message failed "ALIGNMENT" after changing black cart on 7360 no black print.

I have an issue with black print on my 7360, I installed a new black cartridge, ink level monitor displays full. printed test page no black print and have" failed alignment"  message after running this test. Tried to run clean" print head" same results very lite black print, not readable. This has been a great printer, have several extra cartridges. I would hate to have to trash it.  Any help would be appreciated

I too have a B210 and the IPAD has printed marvelously via WIFI for about a half a year. Now, when the IPAD print radio button appears it still lists the B210 is available as if all is good but the printer doesn't come to life when the print command is issued. Printer sez it is connected to the router, too. I have reset the router and the printer a number of times and the printer sez everything is good. But, I can't print any longer from the IPAD. bummer.

  • Blank lines on black print output

We are seeing blank lines for the black print head.  We replaced the cartridge and ran 1,2,3 level print head cleaning with no improvement.  Ran diagnostics, but I can't see any differences in that report between the different color cartridges.

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? What operating system? Are there any error messages on the printer or computer screen?

  • Gradients using black print very dark

I created a number of documents using pages in pages 06, which I now use with pages 09. My problem is that gradients using black print much darker than they did before, indeed so dark they are unusable.
The gradients are generally made up of black and white, with the black transparency set somewhere between 30% and 50%. I have tried varying the black transparency and can acheive good results by dropping it to 2% to 8%, but this would involve an awful lot of work setting each gradient in multiple templates and would much prefer if I could just correct this issue by altering a preference or other setting somewhere.
When I use the term print I mean both to paper and to pdf, the results are much the same, however it would be difficult to include an example of the paper print.
Below is a screenshot of part of a document in pages.
This is a screenshot of how the export/print to pdf now turns out.
and this is a screenshot of some previous pdf's I had saved prior to using pages 09.
    All suggestions are welcome.

I was sort of hoping I wouldn't need to change my documents as I have quite a few that are used as templates, but I guess this may be the only solution after all.
You should do as Magnus suggests. I'm a little iffy about the but, because if you don't delve into the depths of the Colour Picker there is no but at all.
If you use the Colour Picker as is, without digging into the defaults, you will be defining device independent CIE colours using a device dependent RGB interface for a linear colour space.
In a linear RGB colour space equal amounts of colourant render as neutral gray, just as if you were working in a CIE device independent colour space such as CIELch (lightness, chroma, hue).
The problem with the Colour Picker and the system as such is that it says, "OK, all these colour spaces are for RGB data, so I'll lump them together whether they are linear or not."
The ICC Specification doesn't have a separate category for linear RGB colour spaces (idealised RGB colour spaces) versus measured monitor spaces and (inkjet) printer spaces which are non-linear.
If you play with the Colour Picker, then next to the data model selector (Gray, RGB, HSB (hue, saturation, brightness) and CMYK) there is a button with a barely visible triangular Disclose icon.
If you click the Disclose icon, you will see a drop-down list of installed ICC profiles for that data model, including idealised and linear spaces as well as measured device spaces that are non-linear.
To make matters a bit more complicated, there are idealised and linear RGB colour spaces that serve as substitutes for a proper CIELch interface as in LinoColor/NewColor, but there are no idealised and linear CMYK colour spaces (well, not as near linear anyway).

  • Black print cartridge only, hp 5652, windows 7

    Hi.
Why can't we select "Black print cartridge only" for printer "hp deskjet 5652" in windows 7 (64bit)?
    In "Preferences" we see this:
Finishing -> [x] Print on both sides
Color -> [x] Print In Grayscale
[ ] Black print cartridge only <<<<<<<Greyed out when "Print on both sides" is selected. WHY?
In windows xp this setting was available.
I did a test, printing out this image first in XP then in Win7:
    http://www.cerquit.com/blogs/image.axd?picture=mvpArchi.PNG
In win xp we can select "Black print cartridge only", even when doing double side printing.
The print came out perfect, no colours were used.
In Win7 we are forced to use "High Quality" when we select "Print In Grayscale". The result was terrible, since my color toner is almost empty, and COLORS WERE USED IN PRINT even though we selected "print in greyscale".
So how can we enable "Black print cartridge only" in windows 7 for this printer when doing "double sided printing"?
    Thanks.

soooooooooo..can anyone help with this? Isn't this official HP printer forums? Are any "hp support people" posting on this foum?
Where should I forward this question if I don't get any feedback here?
    Thanks.

If you complete all of the steps in the document above and the issue continues, my own personal recommendation, not one of HPs, is to use the solution offered in the following video. I only suggest doing this if he printer and printhead are out of warranty. Hot Water Printhead Flush - HP Ink Series Printers with removable Printhead.
I have recommended this solution to others and have seen success, but I can not guarantee this will resolve the issue, it is an end of the line kind of effort. I hope it helps.

Although the printer might be out of warranty, if the issue persists, HP may be able to offer you something. Maybe they can offer you a discount on a newer model, or discuss the option of replacing the printhead! If after all of our efforts the issue remains, I suggest calling HP. • HP c7180 Printer - Black prints blurry but color is okay

    Aloha,
I have an HP c7180 printer and have recently had a problem where the black cartridge prints blurry and with lines through the print, but the color prints fine.  I tried cleaning the printhead and aligning the printer, but these did not work.  I also bought a brand new HP 02 black printer cartridge put the problem still exists.  Anyone have any ideas on how to go about fixing?  It's my last ditch effort before tossing the thing :-)
    Thanks for your help!

I am interested if you find out what is causing this, as I have the same situation.  One or two lines are fuzzy in the black, and it appears the top half is offset from the bottom half on only two lines of text in the entire page.

I'd still prefer to keep separate user accounts. I never had any issues like this before. The only time I started having a problem was when I was just trying to force empty the trash a few months ago. I came on here looking for a solution and someone posted a way to empty the trash using the terminal. Before then, I hadn't used the terminal for anything--it was just another app in my utilities folder.  (None of this has anything to do with having separate user accounts. Plenty of people with kids make second and third user accounts on their laptops so that multiple people can use one laptop, having more than one user on a laptop is not very difficult.) But thank you, I'll try that out and see if it works!
