No Blackberry ID shown on Playbook in General section of the ABOUT Tab...
I have a collection of Playbooks with no Blackberry ID established... Current version is 1.0.0.0 or 1.0.1... in either case the playbook will not update wi fi fashion because without the ID the playbook will not connect with the Update Server..
Some of the tablets have a SET UP icon , located in the area where the browser and other Icons are in the main page of the screen, that as well will not let me acknowledge after the location and time zone is determined... saying the connection is timed out... I know from setting up several of these, that if I could just get past the agreement of the location/time zone page... I could set up a BlackBerry ID... which I have done on sevral wierlessly perfectly.
There is nothing wrong with the wi fi connection .. there are 3 and 4 full bars on the WI Fi icon on the playbook display
Do not say or suggest using the USB port... as an access to the BlackBerry Desktop, as you are well aware that not having an ID established on the Playbook prevents the desktop program from recognizing the playbook as a device connected to the computer...
Not that THAT is the only issue with the USB port connection... AS WE ALL WELL KNOW... Should have been clearly posted, detailed, shouted from the street.... that using the USB mini port as a charging port lessens the life expectancy of the port for Desktop connecton... Not to mention it has such substancially less value in charging the playbook... than the magnetic quick charger or docking station... it did more damage than good to offer that as an option.... Hence the constant flow of Playbooks listed in E bay... that won't charge as well as non function usb mini ports...
So lets not hear how there is no engineering to reformat the hard drive or establish a BlackBerry ID on an item that some lunkhead started just USING before they set it up... since I have been reconfiguring and cleaning up the 20 we have for our personnel... I have charged and updated 12 of the 20... and have 8 needing ID's and updates established...
Allways starting with fully charged batteries as well as sitting the Playbook in a docing station keeping charge for the updates duration, which is not much longer than 5 or 6 minutes.... the easy ones being the ones with passwords that could be rewritten after the final fail attempt completely erased the tablet... The security Wipe.. only wipes out DATA and does not take the tablet back to a default set up... where I can establish the BlackBerry ID at that point...

In Software and Updates.. it says... I must be connected to a wi fi... ( I am ) it says... a notification will appear... which in a collection of 8 Tablets ranging from Update Version 1.0.0.0 to 1.0.1.xxx It is not acknowledging any update available...
Still looking for a place to log in... as I have already created individual BBID's for each Tablet at BlackBerry.com, not wanting to mix the various android applications... In creating those links there was no location or log in application available or applicable...
Appreciate your help John... looking forward to that little thing I'm missing... Not sure you are really familiar with the Playbook... or familiar with what I am running up against with 8 tablets... No place to log in to ANY BBID on the tablet itself... The users.. simply did not establish an ID, Not wrong ID, not missing password, lesson learned, never let a manager hand out a tablet like it was a christmas gift... and again even the few of the playbooks that have viable mini usb ports to connect to a computer to use the deaktop application.. are not being recognised as there is no ID established...

You do not have iOS 5 on your iPad so you have to update by using a computer via the latest version of iTunes. You can connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. Select the iPad on the left side under the devices heading. Click on the Summary Tab on the right. Click on Check for Update.
After you update to iOS 5, you will have Software Update in you settings and can update via WiFi OTA.

The "General" section of the settings apps does not contain anything called "Settings". If you are running iOS 5 or later, you should have a "Software Update" item in the General settings.If you are on and older version of iOS, you will need to synch to a computer running a current version of itunes to update.

I have just received my Blackberry Playbook in the UK and am very impressed. However, I am led to understand that it should come preloaded with Blackberry's own Podcast app and I cannot find it on the tablet, though there is a support video on Blackberry's website for using the podcast. Help please!

If you do not have a Software Update option present on your iDevice, then you are trying to upgrade to iOS 5 or higher. hi when i open my application folder, all the application is shown in trash folder. when i click the application it says this app is in trash first move it out. and when i try to open through finder> go it says this file doesn't exist. can some1 plz help? how can i put all my application through application folder?
Something really odd is going on. In your first screen shot, I noticed that the Applications folder does not have the proper icon displayed in the side bar. Also, in the title bar it lists it as Applications 08-59-29-909.
Not sure where it's picking up that odd name, unless it's because it's still truly within the Trash folder.
Try this. In the Finder > Preferences > General > turn on "Always open folders in a new window". (I have a feeling you have the default setting with this off).
Now, in Finder > Go > move down and open the Applications Folder from there. Now open the folder where you see all your applications that you show in your screen shot, select all, and move them to this true appliactions folder.
This is what you should properly seeing (but with different apps listed):

i m feeling like a fool after buying a blackberry curve 9220 white handheld from snapdeal. i received the phone in the last week of april'13 and on 31st may'13 my phone got dead. i submitted to the service centre in ahmedabad @ mithakali on 3rd june'13(WORK ORDER NO. - (personal info removed)223). i have been told that it needs to be sent to bangalore and will be back in aroung 15-20 days. still i have not received my phone. no one from blackberry is responding to me. from service centre ms. shweta told me that it will take one week - the same reply since last two weeks. mr. chintan has cooperated well on the no.((prsonal info removed)70). mr. chintan said that this service centre does not belongs to him so he has given me one more contact no. of mr. pravin - (personal info removed).
i m trying to get connect to this no. since last two days. this no. is either busy or not getting replied. i tried this no. in last two days for more than 50 times atleast. today mr. chintan has given me one more no. of mr. prashant ((personal info removed)13). he asked me for the WO no. and told me that some one will get back to me. i got a call from mithakali service centre and same reply - one more week. now mr. prashant is also not replying my phone. i m really not understanding a phone like blackberry which i hardly used for 4 weeks is lying with service centre since almost last four weeks. now in no way this phone is acceptable to me. now this long message is my last hope. i hope to recieve at least a reply as this is the longest message i have ever drafted in my life and that too for a bloody phone like blackberry. black service and black associates.

BlackBerry provides zero front line support to end users, including warranty...all support starts with the carriers, authorized resellers, and authorized service centers, all who can escalate cases into BlackBerry at no charge to the end user.
So, your escalation path is not here, in these forums. Rather, it is through your service center and/or place of purchase...even if they may have so far been unhelpful. You have no free path by which to bypass them, and should be escalating to their management levels.
There is something called incident support, but it costs to just ask the initial question, since you are bypassing the contract you signed upon purchase. If you wish to investigate that, you can review it here:

Is there a way to set an email mailbox so that mail from many months are stored, but the general default for the other mailboxes is a few days?
The only thing I can think of is to set the number of days to sync messages, shown below. But I'm not sure if this is what you're after. If it is go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars select the email account you wish to change.
This will then only sync emails from the last week for example. In the screenshot all email messages would be synced to the iPhone.

Attached is the query for the payment register, in which I've written a series of decode statements, one for each possible value of the payment code. The query works OK - however, its specific and as the number of paycodes expand (and they do), the report won't pick up the new paycode until the code is changed. More importantly, the report won't be correct until someone 'discovers' that a paycode is missing, which might take months.

As you can see, this is both much easier to write and covers the possibility of expansion of paycodes (expansions always fit in these defined ranges).
My question is, then, is it possible to write something like this in SQL and, if so, could you give me some sample code? (I'm one of those people who learn best from looking at the code as opposed to a set of instructions)Here is one way you could do it.

The idea is to group all the payment codes into a few groups to reduce the clutter. If there is ever a change to the payment code, you could modify the table and it will be reflected in your select query. -
Blackberry needs to sort out he brightness issue on the Q10 - Its very bad
Blackberry needs to release an update for its Q10 device ASAP. The device has brightness issues since it was launched. In a response to a Forum member's complaint about the screen dimness, a support staff here said that's how the device is made with no auto-brightness toggle to conserve battery. I believe customers should be given the options to turn on or off this option as they wish. Please fix this problem BB
No he doesnt have a screen problem Jason. It is the Q10 that has a screen problem. Stop misleading people here. Blackberry needs to come up with a fix. The fact that they are not even responding to peoples' concerns on the Forum shows why they will continue to suffer pooor sales.

My grandson's school needs him to have his own email address. For some reason, his is not able to use my address. I do not want him to have general access to the internet. His older brother caused my computer to be infected with a virus in a very short time. It took three weeks and one hundred dollars to get the use of my computer back.

I am concerned that once he has an email address, someone (not the school) will send him a web site address in a message and he will be able to just click on it to get into the internet.You can use an email program (e.g. Outlook Express or Windows Live or Thunderbird) and disable HTML for that email (text only mode) to access the email account. You can create a new email account if your your ISP supports it or use a online service that allows POP3 access with an email program (most popular services allow that).

I have a table of detailed polygons (100+ vertices) and I want to get generalized version of these polygons.
For example, assume I have a polygon with 100 vertices. Distance between vertex n and n+1 is 1.0.
I want to get geometry (generalized polygon, line or point) where distance between vertex n and n+1 is 10.0 or more (I want vertices to be considered as one vertex if distance between them is less then 10.0).
Is it possible to create generalized version of polygons on the fly?

If all of your polygons have no interaction among them (No polygon shares any boundary with any other ones).
In this case you can use the sdo_util.simplify in 10g to reduce the vertices in your polygons which returns new polygon geometries on the fly.
If you found that simplify is not doing exactly what you want, you can always roll out your own implementation using PL/SQL or the new SDOAPI JGeoemtry class in Java. Both will give you complete access to the coordinate arrays in a polygon and update them back to the database after you have simplified them in your code.
Scenario B:
If your polygons share boundaries, then the above methods will not work since the simplification process may not preserve the topology among your polygons. What you can do then is to use the Java topo package to create a new topology by adding all of your polygons to to an empty topology (which you first create in the database and then load into memory using oracle.spatial.topo.TopoMap). Once you have a topology built in the memory, you can use methods such as oracle.spatial.topo.TopoMap.changeEdgeCoords() to simplify the edges of your polygons. You can then recreate the simplified polygons from the topology. This is just a rough guide; for more details you need to check out the java doc for the various packages mentioned above which are shipped with 10g spatial. -
I have downloaded IOS7 on my iPhone and all calendar events have disappeared. The general functions of the calendar have changed and are definitely not 'user friendly'. How can I retrieve my calendar events. Will Apple improve the calendar function or revert to the previous system. Even the typing function on IOS 7 is faulty - very slow to respond to the keyboard.
