  • N80 Bluetooth Fix Yet?

Anybody have any news from Nokia about the long awaited fix for the N80 bluetooth problems?

Patc, I'm with you, and understand your frustration. I'm sure that the tech boffins in Nokia are beavouring away trying to sort the problems out, but suspect that the vast majority of resources are allocated to new phone development not fixing existing phones.
Sister bliss - You are quite right we should give Nokia every chance to sort it out, but they should at least let us know that they accept that there is a problem and are working on a fix, rather than the sloping shoulder syndrome we are all experiencing. If you have a look at some of the older threads here and on other GSM / 3G forums these issues are not days, but months old. This is not acceptable.
In pure legal terms there is a strong case for legal action. I presume that you have heard of the Trade Descriptions Act and the Sale of Goods and Services Act. They both relate to goods being fit for purpose and being accuurately described. In the case of the N80 Blutooth does not work as per the official bluetooth standard specification and the battery life is not even close to the advertised figures. Of course this is not practical and fortunately the UK does not, yet, operate under the same litigious culture that has thrived in the US, so it is unlikley that any case would make it to court, but as patc pointed out it might encourage Nokia senior managment to reallocate resources to resolve problems with existing phones more quickly. I believe this was the point of patc comment.
Rufao - have you checked this particular forum or done a google search for either "N80 GPS" or "N80 bluetooth", your eyes may be opened. Route 66 works on Symbian S60 v3, and it works on the N80. It is not useable on the N80 because the N80 is prone to disconnect from the GPS reciever every few minutes. This afflicts the Navicore software as well. It is a Nokia problem not a route 66 or any other 3rd party developer problem. In actual fact, due to the lack of apparent action from Nokia, it is our problem.
I'm prepared to wait as long as I know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
ps Apologies for my spelling, but boiling blood (at Nokia) and writing forum posts whilst at work don't contribute to great grammar !!!!

  • Broken bluetooth (fix?)

Just today, I purchased a Sandberg Mini Bluetooth Keyboard, HID and everything. Now, my Playbook has no troubles finding the thing. It, however, drops the keyboard at random intervals, from a few seconds to, when serendipity smiles upon me, an entire minute.
The keyboard is fine; even with my most scrutinous googling, I could not find a single complaint about its connectivity.
Then I went looking for info on potential problems with the Playbook's Bluetooth. Oh boy. Seems like everyone and their mothers have had problems with Bluetooth keyboards on the Playbook. So, the problem rests with the tablet.
I don't want to have to buy the pricy official keyboard. I bought the Playbook because I figured I could do with fewer apps, in exchange for rugged, business like *reliability*. So, my question is this: is there a fix? I'm not talking about some future update, I found a thread back from 2011 were one was promised. My Playbook is fully updated; I checked not half an hour ago. In case there isn't a *concrete* solution, does anyone know a good 7" Android tablet? I've been eyeing an Asus. It looks so... functional.

You don't say what you have done to try to isolate the problem.
I don't know your particular keyboard and don't know if that brand has compatibility problems with a PlayBook, but I can make some basic suggestions with respect to troubleshooting..
Do you have problems on your PlayBook with any other paired Bluetooth device?  Is your keyboard fully charged?  Are there any removable batteries that could be weak or corroded contacts giving intermittent or weak performance?  Does your device show up on the list of saved Bluetooth connections/paired devices?  Have you tried to see what the Bluetooth indicator on the top of the PlayBook shows while you type?  Are there any other Bluetooth devices nearby sending an interrupting signal that in effect boots your keyboard off?  Have you tried to pair the keyboard with another Bluetooth device such as a different brand of tablet or a laptop?  If so is it fully reliable?
    PlayBook 64GB and 32 GB

  • Is there a Bluetooth fix coming?

I jumped on complaint wagon too soon!  Powered down all bluetooth devices and powered down phone...after repowering all devices pairing option returned...all working great again!

  • IMac 5,2 Core2Duo lost Bluetooth - Fixed

This may apply to all Macs, but I have only one iMac that has lost Bluetooth so it was only tried out with that.
Our older white iMac 5,2 lost Bluetooth one day - no warning, no reason, it was just gone.  I read the forums and tried everything, resetting SMC or what ever, re-installed the original Mac OS that came with the iMac, nothing made any difference.
I took a punt on a £2 Bluetooth USB dongle from Amazon, what do you know it actually works!  It is seen by the iMac as if it was the original Bluetooth hardware, uses the built-in drivers.  I don't know at this stage how well it's going to work over the coming weeks or months, but it's looking good as it will only be used for Apple keyboard and mouse (from the same period), and they paired without any problems.
The actual name of the item on Amazon was Super Mini USB Bluetooth 2.0 Wireless Adapter Dongle - OEM, I'm sure a simple search would find it.
For all those losing Bluetooth, after having tried the suggestions in these forums with no luck I would say give this a try.  I plugged the dongle directly into the back of the iMac, this is not a problem for us however as it effectively replaces the wired USB connection that the original keyboard used.

And to add more information to my prior post, Airport is also nonfunctional after the 10.5.2 upgrade. Unlike the bluetooth problem, System Profiler sees the Airport card, but trying to configure the Airport under Network fails. The button to turn the Airport on is greyed out, and I haven't found another way to turn it on. I've tried resetting PRAM and SMC, rebooting, creating another user account. I've also re-installed 10.5.0 (archive/install), and that brings back both Bluetooth and Airport operation. When I then apply the 10.5.2 combo updater, the OS can no longer find the BT hardware module, and the Airport card can't be turned on. Rebooting under Tiger fixes it all, so I think I'm safe in saying it's the 10.5.2 update that's breaking things.

  • Any Un-announced Bluetooth Fixes in 2.1?

Until I can get to upgrading this weekend and test myself, has anyone who performed the update to 2.1 see any fixes for the Bluetooth issues not connecting with most in-car systems? There have been none advertised by Apple for 2.1.
Many people, like myself have no Bluetooth use with Acura, Chrysler, and many other factory Bluetooth systems with 2.0 and 2.0.1. My only hope for 2.1 was Apple fixing that major oversight.
Why they choose to ignore this problem is baffling - it must be affecting hundreds of thousands of iPhone customers with any version of 2.x software.

Thanks- I'm not looking for file transfer, I'm looking for basic connectivity as handsfree for in-car systems. There are hundreds of posts in the Bluetooth forum discussing the broken functionality, which is basic to any cell phone with Bluetooth. The original iPhone and OS 1.4x worked flawless, as it should. It all broke with the 3G iPhone and OS 2.0.
In my case it pairs with the car system, but is never available for calls. It works fine with the Apple Bluetooth headset but car systems blow away any headset.

  • 6131 bluetooth fix

ever since i got this phone i am unable to send or receive files via bluetooth from any motorola phone, i was wondering if this issue would be resolved by upgrading to firmware version 6.10, 3.7 is currently installed

First I called the store I got it from. They said that the phone should automatically transfer to SD when the main memory is too small. They offered to return the phone and said I could contact Nokia Care.
I called Nokia Care Netherlands and they told me this is by design. It was, according to the mister I spoke, on all phones that the inbound Bluetooth data was first stored in the phone and only then could be moved to the memory card.
He also claimed that all phones by every manufacturer suffer this limitation. I told him this is not true because my brother's Samsung phone has a menu option to set the destination of incoming bluetooth data. In general he seemed to have no interest in helping me. That whole ordeal left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.
So if this is not fixable I'll return the phone and get something not Nokia.
Pity, because apart from this, I really like this phone.

  • N80 A2DP Bluetooth fix

I stumbled across a little piece of software from MSI called BluePlayer.
My N80i was able to connect to my Sony BT-2500 headunit in my car. I was able to answer the call with the headunit, but no audio.
Installed BluePlayer and no problems with bluetooth audio since. I have even managed to stream stereo music from the headunit to the house.

Just read my 1st post and not sure why I wrote "from the house" at the end of the sentence. I know I was falling asleep in front of the computer when I was posting the message...but thats crazy. lol.
Hopefully this software works for some of the other N series mobiles.
Anyway I can stream stereo from the phone via bluetooth to the headunit and the phone calls are working well too now.
I messaged Nokia about the problem and the only reply I got from them was that they were unable to comment as they do not support other products, and then gave me a link to their bluetooth car kit!

  • Bluetooth fix for Lion

I found this over on the Macbook Air forum, it worked for me. Apparently if you use Migration Assistant you can end up with Bluetooth acting weird, as indeed I have been for the last few weeks.
    1) Go to: Macintosh HD->Library->Preferences
    2) Drag (the old migrated files) com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and com.apple.Bluetooth.plist.lockfile to the desktop. Note that Lion will force a COPY when you do this, you must actually delete them and Lion will request the admin password.
    3) Stop Bluetooth and logout.
    4) Login and restart Bluetooth.
    5) Repair (as in Bluetooth "pair") everything.
Thanks to RMalay for the correct answer.
    Lawrence

I had to delete ALL files containing .bluetooth in their name. After 3-4 attempts it worked!! First time in 5 years I was so mad at Apple!!! First time in five years! I felt like using a ****** windows machine!
Oh, please Steve come back, everything was all good when you were here:)

  • 10.9.1 update needs a bluetooth fix pronto!

I updated two of my 15 macs this morning and neither of them will pair with their wireless keyboards. Really?!?!? I miss Steve.

My Magic Mouse gave me trouble right after the 10.9.1 update. I reset my PRAM and it helped a LOT.
    Shut the Mac down completely.
Holding the Cmd+Opt+P+R keys, power it up.
Listen for the "stratup chime" to sound three times and releae the keys.

  • Extending Bluetooth Range

On my MacPro, I am using a Bluetooth Keyboard and mouse, but the range is only about 4 or 5 feet.  I want to sit on my couch and work (about 10 feet away) but the mouse and keyboard is slow or disconnects..  Is there a way to extend the range?  Would super new batteries help? or is it in the MacPro that is not reaching out?  Thank You.

For some reason my first post never appeared. Take Two.

  • Bluetooth interference - monitor in another room connected to AP Extreme BS

    This is a weird one.
In my home office/studio I have an Airport Extreme Base Station and a Magic Mouse (I don't know whether this is relevant, but it's connected to a Mac Pro; the internal BT antenna is disconnected and replaced by an external 2.4GHz wi-fi antenna, since the signal is normally too weak...here's a link to a blog that explains the issue: http://nobblynoel.wordpress.com/2010/04/25/mac-pro-2009-bluetooth-fix/).
My wife has a 27" iMac in her office on the other side of the house, connected to the AEBS at n speed (5GHz).
Whenever she turns on a standard TV monitor that's connected to the iMac by an HDMI cable (she uses it as a second monitor for video editing), my BT mouse gets jumpy.
Anyone have any idea what's going on? The TV monitor is at the other end of the house, so I don't understand the interference.
Would it help to extend the network with an Airport Express?
    TIA

This is a link to a discussion of the Bluetooth/Mac Pro issue that explains why I have a wi-fi antenna.
    http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2231119&start=180&tstart= 0
Again, I don't know whether that's relevant; the point is that turning on a TV in the other room interferes with Bluetooth in this room. And by the way the problem goes away if I turn off the AEBS, so it's definitely a wi-fi-related murder.

  • Trackpad malfunctioning after Yosemite (Tried the recommended fix)

So, I've had my computer for about 2 years now and have never had a problem with it. I purchased the wireless trackpad with the computer so have been using the devices together since the beginning. After installing the latest OS X, the trackpad began having a mind of it own - randomly clicking on folders on the other side of my screen, left clicking without pressing down on it, highlighting things randomly, etc.. no control. I've tried the disconnect/reconnect bluetooth fix, changing the batteries, and everything else. Anyone have any other suggestions?

We have the exact same problem. Very frustrating. Have not found a solution yet.

  • Can i install bluetooth and airport?

can I put the airport and bluetooth that I had in my dead Imac G5 into my Imac G4?

If this G4 iMac is the one noted in your other post as an 800MHz model,
the G5 iMac product is even further apart for a likely fit than if you had
parts from an G4 iMac 1.25 17"/20" which had an optional BT/wi-fi module.
So, I'd say after reading part numbers & some specs, the fit is an unlikely one.
Someone technical with time on their hands could probably make something
work; but the Bluetooth fix usually included the use of a USB BT adapter.
The older iMac G4 has USB1.1 ports, and most BT adapters are USB2.0.
For wireless, the original AirPort 802.11/b card would be a direct fit option.
Given the power/speed differences between USB2.0 adapters and USB1.1
port power, the use of wi-fi or bluetooth USB adapters may be mixed. There
may be some older spec USB adapters available online, that may work.
Hopefully you can find a workable solution...
    Good luck & happy computing!
