No boot-able device on Satellite C50-A0413

I just bought a new hard-drive to upgrade my Toshiba laptop and I get a no bootable device on system. I have opened my setup utility to configure it to recognise my drive. Went to security and disabled secure boot but now I can't find boot mode when I press advance and system configurations to change it to csm boot

Hi
Have you got your notebook with originally preinstalled operating system?
Have you created bootable recovery media (DVD or USB)?
I don't know what do you want to configure but after HDD exchange or upgrade you can only check BIOS settings to see if new hardware is recognized properly.
Please be so nice and post some useful info that can help us to understand your problem.

  • Satellite C50-A0413 - no bootable device --restart system

Satellite C50-A0413 that was pr-installed with Win8 but I didn't like it so I decided to downgrade it so that I can install Win7.
I formatted the HDD then installed Win7 on HDD. Everything went perfect so far but remember that the HDD was running on another machine so when I put it back to my laptop things went nasty because the machine could not detect my Drive again. It kept displaying no bootable device --restart system. What did I try to do to remedy the situation? Press f2 to access my utility set up, "Security" tab and change the value of the "Secure Boot" option to "Disabled" then system Configuration but I can't find Boot Mode to change it from UEFI to CSM.
    What I do please help?

First of all I dont understand why you installed the Windows 7 using another notebook.
Another notebook supports different hardware components and its not advisable to switch HDD to another computer with already installed system.
In most cases there an conflict between hardware and software could appear.
Anyway, the boot mode (UEFI/CSM) should appear in Advanced tab ? system configuration.
    Check this!

  • Reboot and select proper boot device on satellite c50-b

So i have had this satellite c50 - b series for over month and it now says reboot and select proper boot device. My laptop does not have a disk drive, an it still says the hard disk drive is available, but when i go to the boot menu it does not give me the hdd recovery option. Please help me out fixing this problem. I have even tried f2 and stilll nothing. Please reply back with some answers

    f12 to reach the recovery.
No boot device can mean a bad hard drive or did something get changed in the bios? f2 to reach bios and set to the defaults.
Some laptops have a reset in the bottom of the laptop, see picture:

  • 3G Nano - No longer a boot-able device.

I'm not sure if it is an oversight but the new 3G Nano CAN'T be used as a bootable device. Whilst I acknowledge that this is an unsupported feature (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93739), as a System Administrator this was a very handy feature for distributing a common SOE image to our stand alone iMacs and MacBook Pro's.
Can anyone at Apple shed some light on this change in Firmware.
    Thanks

Haven't tried the newest generation. I do know the 4th generation iPod does boot Intel only Macs. I have 2 generation 2 iPods (SCSI) that I use for PPC Macs and I just bought an 8GB flash drive this summer that I use for Intel Macs. Its a cheaper investment than an iPod.

  • Satellite C50-A634 wont boot from USB or DVD

My new toshiba Satellite C50-A634 wont boot from usb, or dvd ,
i have downloaded win 8.1 and burn image to dvd but i still get an error message "no bootable device......please restart system" .
    Can some one plz help?

    Hi
Does Satellite C50-A634 supports internal CD/DVD drive or did you try to boot from external optical disk drive?
You have to know that _Satellite C50 & Satellite C50D models *without* a built-in ODD_ are not able to boot from an external ODD due to a technical limitation.
    Details here:
[Limitation of external boot media for Satellite, Satellite Pro C50 & C50D devices|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB3B03JA0000R01.htm]
Only USB flash drives are supported as external boot devices!
It is necessary you can use a USB flash drive as recovery media on notebooks without a built-in ODD.

  • Cannot Access Satellite C50-A-1G6 Boot Menu

    Hello,
I have a Satellite C50-A-1G6 that originally came with Windows 8.1. I had successfully disabled UEFI and Secure boot to install Windows 7 in legacy boot mode.
However, I now want to upgrade to Windows 8.1 again, but I cannot access the boot menu or BIOS anymore, I have tried all the F-keys, either with or without holding Fn, to no avail. The laptop shows a blinking cursor for one second before proceeding to boot from the hard drive. Trying to boot from USB or CD/DVD as-is does not work, either.
To summarize, the laptop is currently not in UEFI mode, it's booting Windows 7 in legacy mode, I intend to install Windows 8.1 in legacy boot mode, but cannot access the boot menu, or boot the laptop from USB or CD/DVD.
Any help on this issue is much appreciated.
    Greetings,
    Rick

Managed to find a solution to my own problem, I've outlined it below for anyone else that's running into the same situation.
The problem is that the laptop is set to "Fast Boot", in which it apparently disregards the boot order and will only accept the HDD as a valid boot device. You cannot enter the BIOS at this point, you will need a small tool called "Toshiba System Settings Utility", I got it from http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-...0127165632.zip.
Once you have installed the utility, open it, and go to Boot Options, set USB as the first boot option, then scroll down and set the Boot Speed to Normal. It should look like this:
After that, you'll be able to enter BIOS/Boot USB or DVD.
    Best regards,
    Rick

  • Satellite C50-A0113 does not boot into windows

    Hello.
    I own a toshiba satellite C50-A0113 laptop running windows 8 64bit.
Ive had it for exactly two years a few days ago i restarted it and then when it starts it stops at the "Toshiba leading innovation" screen and then it says scanning and repairing drive C while on that screen it starts the process and then stops at 34%.
that was two days ago now it just gets stuck on the "toshiba leading innovation screen " then after a few minutes it says preparing automatic repair.
It then leaves that screen and goes to a black screen for a few minutes then flashes the blue screen written "your computer encountered a problem" then restarts.
I tried creating a bootable windows 8 disc in order to repair but it doesnt even boot into the usb.
I restart and press f12 in order to select the media to boot into. It checks the media goes to the toshiba screen then just goes black for some minutes untill it restarts.
May i please know what is wrong and how can i possibly fix this because the problem is clearly not my hard drive.
I removed it and put into another laptop and it was fine

    Dear aya11,
Defiantly it is a operating system issue.
did you check in the BIOS mode??
if your laptop is working fine in the BIOS mode then you have to reinstall operating system.
if you have preloaded operating system then you can recover your operating system.
    recovery option is :*
if you are using window 7 in your laptop then,
just restart your laptop and hold the "0" numeric key..u get option HDD recovery just enter in HDD recovery
then it showing popup for format laptop just click on the yes ..you get a next option and your laptop is getting restart.
if you are using window 8 in your laptop then
just restart your laptop and hold the "F12" numeric key..you get option HDD recovery just enter in HDD recovery
then it showing popup for format laptop just click on the yes ..you get a next option and your laptop is getting restart.
in case both option is not working then u have install a new OS.
    Thnx :)

  • Satellite C50-A-1DV - Cannot boot from USB

    Satellite C50-A-1DV PSCG6E-08P01CEN
I could previously boot from USB by selecting Secure boot to off and CSM boot in the system bios. Since I have upgraded my bios from 1.3 to 1.4 I can't seem to boot from a USB drive. I can boot from the CD but not USB.
    Any Ideas?
    Booji

    hello
if you want install os in laptop then you should have to change the boot mode in BIOS menu.
for win 7 select the CSM boot mode
for win 8 select the UEFI boot mode
then boot by the pen drive and also CD/DVD.
Restart the system and hold the F2 key then you get your BIOS setup
if not get the BIOS setup by the process then you should tried power drainage.
Power Drainage process: just remove the battery and adapter of the laptop then hold the power key for 30 sec
after that connect adapter of the laptop then turn on system.
    Try it...:)

  • Satellite C50 - Secure Boot not configured correctly Build 9600

    Hi,
Recently purchased a refurbished Toshiba Satellite C50 running windows 8.1 operating system. Was very pleased with it but found the message 'SecureBoot not configured correctly Build 9600' in a watermark in the bottom right corner of my desktop.
Decided to search the internet for a resolution and after going on 3 troubleshooting sites, found out about the BIOS Setup required, however it warned that this was for advanced users who know their stuff about the technicalities of computers. Whilst I am computer literate, I'm not someone who likes to mess with the advanced options. Then, I stumbled across a reliable computer blog which had a detailed post on SecureBoot.
( Link to blog and specfic post:
    www.techrepublic.com/blog/windows-and-office/deal-with-the-secureboot-isnt-configured-correctly-watermark-in-windows-81/ )
I thought this would resolve my issue, and I will admit it did help, telling me to use windows powershell as a precaution before using the BIOS setup. I was glad I did as it came back telling me that I have a non-production SecureBoot policy present on my laptop in which case I would have to ask for technical support for a system specific solution which would typically be a firmware update.
I did try to phone, but the line was very busy and felt it might be easier to post this issue on a forum.
If anyone has an answer please help as I really would like to enable SecureBoot if possible, as I believe computers should be set up with the best security options possible and it makes me feel comfortable knowing that it is set up securely.

Someone commented the blog and posted this solution:
The registry fix to remove the watermark is as follows.
    1. Start the Registry Editor with Admin rights (C:\Windows\regedit)
    2. Navigate to the following path
    -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ System.
    3. There, the two values " ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin "and" EnableLUA "set to" 0 ".
You can also try to enable the secure boot option in BIOS (in case its not already enabled)
To get into the BIOS, press F2 while powering ON the unit.
Additionally recommend checking this Microsoft page:

  • How to enter BIOS and boot menu on Satellite C50-A-1GZ?

    Hi,
that is, how can I start the BIOS and the boot menu of my Toshiba C50-A-1GZ?
    Thank you

    Hi
At first you must perform complete shutdown. How to do this you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm
Restart your notebook and press F12. There you should find setup options for BIOS settings.

  • Windows 7 Installation on Satellite C50-A-1JT

    Hi everyone,
I've bought a brand new Sattelite C50-A-1JT PSCJGE from Romania with no OS.
First i've tried for about a day to install Windows 7 and it won't boot, neither on DVD neither on USB, only Windows 8, but after i've searched about it, i found out that i have to change my bios settings from UEFI to CSM Boot and disable Secue Boot.
NOT A CHANCE. Intead of a normal BIOS i only have Toshiba Setup Utility and i have only the Boot Order option and Secure Boot, that didn't helped me.
I thought that my BIOS is out-dated (1.10)
So went to the Toshiba Website and searched for an BIOS Update and the only one was this:
    [BIOS 1.30-WIN for Satellite C55-A, Satellite C50-A|http://www.toshiba.com.ro/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?LNG=27&service=SE&selC ategory=2&selFamily=2&selSeries=312&selProduct=793 4&selShortMod=4628&language=47&selOS=46&selType=4& yearupload=&monthupload=&dayupload=&useDate=null&m ode=allMachines&search=&action=search&macId=&count ry=all&selectedLanguage=47&type=4&page=1&ID=90346& OSID=-1&driverLanguage=42]
    ...but unafortunatelly, it isn't available.
So, i there any chance to have Windows 7 on this laptop?... 'cause i hate 8

Many Win8 machines are supported for Win7 so, generally speaking, you should not have some big problems. As you already wrote you must at first change BIOS settings - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2C03F80002R01.htm
After doing this restart your notebook and press F12. When boot menu is shown on the screen put Win7 installation disc into optical disc drive, choose CD/DVD as first bootable device and press ENTER. ODD should start to read Win7 installation disc and setup will be shown on the screen.
On this way I have installed Win7 on my Satellite U940.
Please try again and post some feedback.

  • Satellite C50-A-19T - recovery disks not working

I have a Toshiba Satellite C50-A-19T laptop with OS windows 8.1
Recently my laptop had booting problems so i contacted toshiba support and they told me to get recovery disk from backupmedia.toshiba.eu and i ordered the disk and it arrived today#
When i enter the recovery disk and boot from the disk drive (ODD) it brings the windows logo then after a minute it goes to a blank screen and i waited and after a while it was still a blank screen
I had already went into the BIOS to change the settings to boot from the CD but even after that the same problem persists
    Please help

    Hi
Go to BIOS and disable the option called: secure boot
Now you should be able to boot from the ODD.
By the way: please check if the HDD is listed on the first BIOS page (name, size, etc)
In case the HDD details are not visible, the HDD isnt recognized by BIOS this could be related to HDD malfunction.

  • Satellite C50-A-1CK double characters appear when typing

    All
I have a brand new Satellite C50-A-1CK which is perfect for my needs EXCEPT I continually get double characters appearing on screen when typing which is:
    A. VERY frustrating
    B. Wasting a lot of time as I have to keep correcting words to remove the duplicate characters.
Please does anyone know of a fix for this? It can affect any key on the keyboard and it doesn't matter if I type slow or quick, press the keys firmly or as light as possible.
Have checked for firmware updates but none available.
    Thanks in advance!

The Touchpad issue you have I mayy be able to help with....
It sounds like you have the "Enable Edge Swipes" set on. This will bring up Windows 8 menu on the right hand side of the screen when ever you swipe from the right hand side of the keypad towards the middle.
Yours is a different model to mine but assuming the setting is in the same place then:
    open Control Panel
    Open Hardware and Sound
Under Devices and printers click "Mouse"
In the "mouse properties" window click on Device Settings
Highlight the touchpad and click the "settings" button below it
    De-select "Enable Edge Swipes"
    Hope this helps

    Hello;      Just took a brand new Satellite C50-A -02T (PSCF6C-02T002) out of the box and the trackpad does not work.  Windows 8 OS.  Hooked up an external mouse and; Updated the trackpad drivers from the Toshiba site, no luck.Updated windows, no luck.Updated to windows 8.1, no luck.Googled the issue and tried the 'pull battery, press power button, replace battery, press f2...' but it just boots back to windows, does not go into the bios...I bought 2 of these on clearance after christmas and have been using one with no issue since then.  My parents need a new laptop so I pulled this one out and was going to set it up for them but cannot get the bloody track pad to work. Any help out there? Thanks;

Just to add a couple things: CANNOT get into the BIOS after pulling the battery and holding the power button.  It ignores my attempt (have tried 6 times) and can get into the bios any other time I try. When I go into the control panel and click on mouse it tells me 'Unable to connect to the synaptics Pointing Device Driver'  I have uninstalled and reinstalled it twice now with no success. It does not show up in the device driver list.About to take the nuclear option and reinstall windows...
