Here are links to recovery may fail and troubleshooting recovery problems. You might need to disable any virus protection software to do this. Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues. Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.

    Error: no boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed!(pavilion 20-b014 .  The machine came originally with windows 8. I upgraded to windows 8.1 and put new hard disk. So the hard disk is fine.

    I understand that your desktop computer is giving you an error message stating that the boot disk could not be detected, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
    To ensure that your hard drive you computer is trying to boot from is in working order, I recommend following the steps in this document on Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 8). This should help determine if there is a fault with the hard drive. 
    If the hard drive passes all of the required tests, I recommend returning the BIOS back to its default settings by following this document on Recovering the BIOS.

    Hello -  I have an ENVY 20 All-in-One PC and up until yesterday it was running fine. When I turned on my PC, a black screen appeared with the message: "ERROR: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed." I followed the directions on this post and ran a Hard Disk Test in BIOS. I've run both the Quick Check and the Extensive Check and both were passed. I'm not sure what to do now.     Mgmartinelli, welcome to the forum. It appears that you may be getting some conflicting information.  The error message that you first received is normally attributed to a failed/ing hard drive.  You may want to disconnect the drive and reconnect it to see if that helps. Please click the "Thumbs up + button" if I have helped you and click "Accept as Solution" if your problem is solved.

    Hello, I have been using HP Pavilion 20 Destop for 6 months now and it is still under warranty period.
    I was getting the desktop with Windows 8 preinstalled but I asked the dealer to install Windows 7 as I feel more comfortable wit it.
    I've been getting this "No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed" whenever I start my PC for quite awhile now.
    I always tap the ctrl+alt+del. It takes at least 7-8 tries to start normally.
    Yesterday I called the HP Client Service, the attendant made me do the hardware check which the PC passed.
    Therefore, there is no issue with the hardware.
    This "No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed" isssue is occuring quite frequently now and now when I'm working on the PC it suddenly stops responding and I have to shut it down forcefully by pressing the Power button.
    When I start it back on again I get the "No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed" issue.
    The attendant on the phone said something about the Ubuntu thing which I couldn't understand very well.
    Kindly help.
    I'm willing to provide information about the product if asked.

    Laurie, welcome to the forum.
    The error message that you are receiving means that the hard drive has failed.  You should try running the SMART test from the BIOS to make certain.  If it has failed, it should be covered under the warranty, since it is less than a year old.

  • Flashing cursor in left corner OR "No bootdisk has been detected or the disk has failed"

     Works fine in safe mode but does this after a normal start up.
    Any Ideas on what is wrong and what to do?

    I understand that you are able to work in Safe Mode, but not on a normal Startup. I am providing you with an HP Support document: Using Microsoft System Configuration (Windows 7), which I would like you to use to disable all the non-Microsoft Services and all the Startup Items. I would like you to then start enabling them in groups and disable some in the last group once the issue re-occurs until you identify what is causing your issue.

  • Error message: ni: A frame has been dropped and the acqusition has been canceled

    I use a NI PCIe 1433 framegrabber with a Basler spl4096-140km line camera.
    Using triggered acqusition with an external source, I can get a framerate of 68500Hz in NI-MAX.
    When I use the Matlab image acquisiton toolbox to acquire data, I however very often get the error message: 'ni: A frame has been dropped and the acqusition has been canceled". This happens even at much lower framerates (20kHz) and only seems to go away when acquiring data slowly.
    Computer is a Dell Precision 7600 and I assume there should be no issues with RAM or the PC being slow. The error does not go away when reducing the data size (i.e. reducing the ROI to one single point that is readout).
    Do you have any pointers why this error message appears and what can be done about it?

    I encountered the same problem and I think it is because the allowcation of storage in matlab cannot catch up with that of the camera so that it will drop frames when the buffer is full.
    I also want to know how to solve that.

    I am getting a strange error trying to use the NI PCIe-1427 with the MATLAB image acquisition toolbox configured with continuous acquisition.  After about 5 minutes of acquisition, I get the error below:
    ??? ni: A frame has been dropped and the acquisition has been canceled.
    Does anyone have any clues as to why I am getting this error / where I can find out what causes it?  I need to acquire several hours worth of data and this error completely aborts my acquisition.

    Turns out that I found the problem.  I had a slow memory allocation in my MATLAB code and this delay allowed too many frames to be accumulated in memory.  I still do not know the source of the exact text of the error, but upon removing the slow memory allocation the error no longer occurs.  I believe that it may have resulted from a buffer overrun of some sort in the underlying driver.
    Given that this no longer poses a problem for me, I will not pursue it further.

  • Why does debugger not find source code when compiler output has been directed to the root directory, but the source is in a sub-directory, using Forte for JAVA community edition V3.0

    I have configured Forte to put compiler output, i.e. my classes, in the root directory of the project. I now find that the debugger does not find the source code when it is in a sub-directory. However, if I temporarily copy a classes' source code to the root directory the debugger will display it.
    To direct compiler output to the root directory I selected Project >Settings>Compiler types, then External Compiler ( which is the default compiler in my case ) and set Target to be the root project directory. This is the only directory it will allow.

    This Forum is for Forte 4GL or UDS as its called today. I am not sure if anybody is going to be able to answer your question here. Sorry.

  • I have an ipad wi-fi cellular 32gb. Died in march after 3 month has been replaced now the replacement has died, holding home key and button on top doesnt work at all,  not even if left over night and the next day and night, still nothing.

    I was given a ipad after xmas 2012. Within a month it was freezing up and returned to apple to replace. It was sent straight back to me saying it was fine. The day I got it back it was faulty again only this time it was worse, it was switching itself off and turning itself back on when it liked. A back up and restore was completed AGAIN. 3 weeks later it was sent straight back to apple to be replaced, this time a higher authority from apple in brisbane said it was to be replaced immediately. Which it was. Then within 6 weeks this ipad the replacemetn ipad has started having issues by turing itself off. Now it has completely shut itself down and off. Charge was at 81%. I put it on charge as maybe the %% was wrong. A few hours later, tried turning it on by holding top button, nothing happened  I have also held down top button and home key for 10 sec, nothing so I tried longer nothing happened. Rang apple support and they have suggested holding top button down for 10 sec then add home key for 10 sec both top button and home for 10 sec then they top button off followed by leaving home key for 10 sec by itself. This did not work. I have tried this again this morning and again at lunch at work and again now tonight. Still nothing at all. Even plugging it into the computer doesn't do anything at all. Has anyone else come across this at all with two ipads doing exactly the same thing. My power points are fine, I've had an electrician check them and my computer is fine aswell. I stumped as to what can be going wrong. Thanks

  • CS6 has been converted from the upgrade I bought to a trial version.  What the heck is going on.

    I upgraded from CS5 to CS6 for my IMac.  I downloaded CS6 and out in my serial number and it worked fine for a number of weeks.  Suddenly when I went to use it it said it was a trial version.  I had to register it to use my CS6   I registered it and it worked,  but only as a Trial Version of CS6 Extended. I do not want CS6 Extended.  I deleted the trial version of CS6 Extended from my hard drive and once again downloaded my upgrade of CS6 and put in my serial number and it worked fine for a couple of weeks. Today, once again, it tells me it is a trial version and will not load unless I register the trial version. What the heck is going on? This is crazy.  I simply want to use CS6, for which I paid. Help!

    Its a bug that came with the latest update. The developers know about it and will fix it as soon as they get back from christmas vacation. Lots of us (inluding some of the developers) are suffering the same problem.
