No Bootable Image Found

When I turn on my HP Proobook 4540S,  My screen says "No bootable image found, notebook will be shut down".  My computer is less than a year old.
How do I fix this and what is the problem?

The hard drive may have failed and will need to be replaced. You should still be in warranty and HP will send a new drive. Phone HP Support in your area. Worldwide contact info can be accessed here>>Contact HP

I have a Cisco IPS4255 that will not boot an image.  I'm seemingly successfully completing a TFTPDNLD each time, but it keeps rebooting with the cannot find image in \ error.

The IPS 4255 sensor appliance has only a single 512 MB internal CompactFlash module for storage by-default, so this part of the output you posted is interesting:
hda: TOQHIBA THLCD512MBA, CFA DISK drive
hdb: QalDisi QDAF@-510, ATA DISK drive
    ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14

    hdb: 484848 sectors (248 MB) w/1KiB Cache, CHS=481/16/63
As it appears that two (2) 256 MB ("248 MB") storage devices are being detected (despite the model of the first even containing "512MB" in its name).
I'd recommend double-checking that there is nothing installed in the "External compact flash device" slot located on the back of the appliance. See here for reference: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ips/7.0/installation/guide/hw_installing_4240_4255.html#wp2726
If there is a CompactFlash module installed there, eject and remove it, then power-cycle the appliance and attempt the re-image ("recovery") process once more. If the boot output still contains the same errors for hda and hdb, then it is probably a failing/failed CompactFlash module, so an RMA will likely be necessary to resolve.

  • Can I store multiple bootable images in the same partition?

Can I store multiple bootable images in the same partition or do they each need their own partition? I am going to use disk utility to create a copy of my current OSX 10.5 system on a new external drive before upgrading to Snow Leopard. Then I want to create a bootable copy of Snow Leopard. Can I create one partion large enoough to hold both images or will I need to create a separate partition for each. I have done booting off of an external hard drive and it works well. I do not know how the system sees this and thus if I store both images on the same partition, will it give me both as a boot option at startup or will it see only one?

They will need separate partitions to be bootable

  • Aperture "no image found" after updating to 3.1.3.

This has been posted elsewhere with 60 some views with no responses and on here with almost 50 views with no responses. I will try rewording my question:
I have Aperture 3.1.3 (updated recently). I opened it and have a library displayed in the browser.
The library resides on an external drive along with 5 or 6 other ones (arranged by year).
I can look at my photos but can't edit or work with them because of the "no image found" message.
I am having no luck in reconnecting masters and also can't see the other libraries in the list of Aperture Libraries. I copied the 2011 library to my hard disk, but still can't reconnect masters.
    Help please.

  • Creating a Bootable Image on my iMac G5 (Power PC) - Please read.

    Greetings,
My wife and I have stored quite a bit of data on our iMac - including our recently developed wedding photos and our iTunes. That being said, we think it's time we take the plunge and get an external drive.
To that end, we ordered the G-Tech 250GB Firewire Drive which should be coming in the mail any day now.
My question is this, before we make the bootable image, can I partition the drive into 160GB for iMAC and then a second partition to backup photos, addresses, iTunes, odds and ends? In other words, can the bootable image (SuperDuper) be run off a partition like a normal harddrive or does the whole drive (one partition) have to dedicated to the bootable image?
Any advice would be super helpful. Thanks.

    Hello !
Sure you can... More, you can do all this with disq utility !
    Here's a little "how to" :
1st connect your external HD to your Mac (USB or FIREWIRE)
Open 'disq utility' and click on 'partition'
Set 'Volume Scheme' to '2 Partitions'
Click on the first part below this window, and give it a name (Ghost HD for example ^_^), select a format (I recommand you 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)') and for the size... 160 Go.
Then click on the second part and re-do the same thing as for the first one (Storage HD for example, Mac OS Extended (Journaled), and for the size no prob it's what it remains on your HD).
After doing all this click on partition and let the mac works.
Well, now you have two hard drive on your desktop, (Ghost HD & Storage HD).
Now click on 'Restore' (in Disq utility), then drag and drop your Macintosh HD in the lign 'Source :' and do the same with your Ghost HD but put it in the lign 'Destination :'.
Click on 'Restore' button and let the Mac works.
This time, the operation will be a quite longer than the partition of the disq... about 30 minutes at least i think !
I recommand you to do anything with the Mac until it has finished this operation.
Then, your HD must be connected with the FIREWIRE cable ( ---* It's the only way to boot on external HD with a PowerPC based Mac *--- ), Then you have two choices :
_Open 'System Preferences' select 'startup disk' and 'Ghost HD' and click on 'restart'...
_Or reboot your Mac and keep-pressing 'alt' (or option), select your external drive and click on the arrow.
So, my advise is that you could look the space that need your system without your songs, photos and movies... Let's say it's about 60 Go, so take 20 Go more and make your 1st partition with 80 Go... Like that you have more space for storage. and you keep in your Ghost HD a light, good and stable system...
I let you think about that : in your opinion, what is more important A big system disq or A big storage disk?
And please save your wedding photo on DVD too.
Sorry for my poor english... (hope this could help you... a terrible headache is coming
    Au revoir.

  • Boot Camp partition moved to external:"No bootable device found"

I have just installed a new SSD, moved my old OSX partition to the new drive and am currently using the old hdd in an enclosure as an external hard drive.
I can access all my files on my old OSX partition and my bootcamp partition when connected to my laptop. However, when i try to boot from my old bootcamp partition i get the "No bootable device found -- insert boot disk and press any key" message. That is when i boot from Startup Disk and target the bootcamp partion.
When restarting my computer with the external harddrive connected and pressing the option key i only get "SSD" and "Recovery" as options, it does not recognize the external harddrive as a startup option at all.
Is there anything i can do to use my old boot camp partition again? It worked perfectly fine before being external to the computer.
My computer is a 2011 mbp with Mavericks, my boot camp patition is installed with windows 7.

Microsoft requires that the partition for Windows be on an internal disk. It will not see an external drive as bootable.

  • No Bootable Drive Found, I HAVE UNIQUE SITUATION

Hello everyone, I would really appreciate some help!
I have a MacBook Pro and I've been trying to download Window 7 on it. Basically, I finally got a bootable flashdrive with Windows 7 on it. I have two actually. One made by Bootcamp, (Someone on youtube showed that altering info.plist on Bootcamp makes Bootcamp format ISO on USB) and one made by a Microsoft program from a different computer WITH windows 7 on it. Now, after formatting however, and after the disk partitions itself, the computer restarts and it says No Bootable Drive Found, Insert Bootable Drive and press any key, or something like that. I RESTARTED WHILE PRESSING ALT-OPTION and the only two things coming up are the Mac OS X , and the recovery. Now, the person with the video has the same model computer as mine and it worked for him, SO PLEASE Don't comment by saying it's impossible. Does someone know the problem? I'm sure the USB is bootable.

    iTheoGamer wrote:

How do you know you have the "exact same problem"? The original poster did not tell us his model and year Macbook Pro, neither did you. So you may or may not have the same problem. If your Macbook Pro came with an internal optical drive, you must use that to install Windows. Until you know for sure that you have the "exact same problem", start your own thread and provide more details.

  • "No image found in subtitle script line" -- What's wrong with my FAB file import?

I've used Encore for years, version 4 and now 5.1 on both Mac and PC (Windows 7).
I export FAB files with bitmaps from my subtitling program and import them into subtitle tracks in Encore.
The last few times this has not worked.  Every time I export FAB files and try to import them into Encore, I get the error message "No image found in subtitle script line."  I've used different machines and different versions (4 and 5.1) of Encore.
There are indeed images (bitmaps) in the folder containing the FAB file.
Is there a solution to this problem?
    Thank you!

I don't recall anyone describing this problem. If you can post a link to a short fab script, I'll test it in an Encore project. I am CS5 only, but it is worth a shot.

  • 'No bootable device found - insert boot disk and press any key'

    Dear all,
I just tried to install a version of Windows 7 on my Mac yesterday and used bootcamp for this purpose. Unfortunately the process could not be completed since bootcamp did not partition the hard drive as NTFS. I had to terminate the installation process and whenever I start up my Mac Mini now see a black screen telling me 'No bootable device found - insert boot disk and press any key'. I have tried to push the Option/Alt key to select the boot device but this does not work. I created a USB with a version of OSX to start from externally which also did not work and I used an older hard drive with a fully OSX system and tried to boot from that which also did not work. I am out of ideas and hope that one of you can help me.
    Best regards
    Bernhard

OS X cannot as standard write to NTFS partitions so it is likely that initially the Boot Camp utility created a FAT32 partition. This is not however a problem, when you run the Windows 7 installer either you can manually and specifically reformat that partition to NTFS or it may even do this automatically because it knows that Windows 7 can only be installed in to a NTFS partition.
Obviously if you are using the Windows 7 installer to manually reformat a partition make sure you select the right one!
It sounds like the Boot Camp utility got as far as setting the new 'Windows' partition to be the choice to boot from but of course it is currently empty. However if you are using a Windows CD/DVD disc to install from you should still be able to insert it, turn on the Mac, and hold down the letter 'C' to boot from it. If you are using a USB memory stick to install from then plug it in, hold down the Option/Alt key and turn on the Mac. Hopefully it will then list the USB drive as one of the boot choices or at least list the normal Mac boot disk.
With a Bluetooth keyboard the above keys for use during boot up may not work as mentioned by mjl2013.

  • How do you create a bootable image accessable via OPTION at boot time...

Hello. Is there a way to create a 'bootable image' of a hard drive and save on my raid and access it via the OPTION menu (hold option key at boot)? I would like to create a OSX bootable drive and then save the whole thing in a file. That way I can set up different configs and just boot into whichever I wish to use. Say, one to rescue a crashed hard drive, etc.
    Information appreciated. Thank you,
    --Scott
    Powermac G5 'Quad'   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

CCC is used to make a bootable clone. It will also make an image file that can be installed using ASR or that can be used with NetBoot. It does not make a bootable image because you cannot boot from a disk image file. The image file can also be burned onto a CD or DVD, but you will not be able to boot from it because a CD/DVD is not a writeable device, and OS X must be able to write to a startup device.
Another utility, BootCD (not yet usable with Tiger), worked around the problem by rewriting some of the startup code in OS X to force the making of a RAM disk, then moving some of the startup files to the RAM disk and designating the RAM disk as the startup device. Although BootCD will make a bootable and customizable CD using Panther, it does not work with Tiger.
    Any questions?

  • No images found

Although I have many pictures on my Galaxy Tab 7" Wifi, in various folders, internal and external (microSD card) storage, PSE says "No images found on your phone". All other applications, like the media gallery, can find them.

    The problem still exsists.
    An helpful message would be:
"No images found on your phone, please check your settings if you store the images ...."
I would say it is almost a critical bug, since every user on a different device then "normal phone" will be tricked to belive your application does not work.

plz help me to find a solution
