Hallo !
Sebastian

    mobo-motherboard
A bit HARDCORE image but these are bent pins:
MB- Motherboard attached with processor, 1 stick of RAM and Power Supply Unit(PSU) and the monitor. As the external test. And these are the minimal things you need to boot.
Wow, whoever owns that board CAN make the square peg fit into the round hole! Seriously, did they close their CPU latch by hitting it with a brick? o.O
Sorry for the not helpful comment, but I couldn't resist! You weren't kidding when you said hardcore! LOL

  • HELP! How can i restore/recover files from Bootcamp with Boot Failure - Missing operating system error?

    Hi,
I am having a few problems with bootcamp on my imac. When i tried to move the bootcamp partition on windows 7 into free space, it crashed and turned off. Ever since i have had the error 'Missing operating system' and it fails to boot. I have some very important files on the bootcamp partition. Is it possible to recover these files or even to restore the bootcamp partition to it's original state? I do not have a backup of my bootcamp partition. Another problem i have is that ever since i tried to expand my macintosh HD partition into free space, when i hold alt while booting up (to choose which partition to boot like i normally do), the bootcamp partition has stopped appearing. This means that i cannot even boot the windows 7 bootcamp partition anymore!
So basically here are my 2 questions:
How can i restore/recover files from Bootcamp with Boot Failure - Missing operating system error?
How can i make the Bootcamp partition appear in Startup Disk and when i hold the option key while starting up my computer to allow me to boot windows 7?
Any solutions are very much apreciated!
    Thanks!
I know that bootcamp (disk0s4) hasn't been fully deleted since it appears in disk utility (i cant do anything to it though)
And here is the error i see when i try to launch bootcamp (back when i was actually able to boot up bootcamp to the error screen)

WinClone 3 is OS X and saves Windows image it makes for restore - that should work but you will have to try and you would need to make a new image unless it also works with a native Windows system restore image. It is now supported and has come a long way.

Paragon Clone OS works and does disk-to-disk clone just like CCC you end up with two bootable drives. But does not work with your setup. It would let you clone and move your Windows install to an SSD or another disk drive though and be bootable.
During its clone process it checks for errors which is very helpful and lets you know - something CCC and others should adopt more of.

I wish for our/my sake you had re-read and rewritten the long 'story' and broken it into a brief list of facts we needed.
    OS X
    Windows
Backup (though external is much safer) and you want bootable OS X clones as well as TimeMachine

There are a number of things to do like chkdsk and others as well as Windows DVD to do automatic system repairs and find out why.
AppleHFS - the abilty to mount and read HFS volumes can be notorious.
I would rearrange and redo your storage setup and how you use the 4-5 internal hard drive bays.

  • Mac Pro Running Windows XP in Bootcamp with AIM 6.5 Can't Connect to iChat

I'm running Windows XP on my Mac Pro under Bootcamp. The Windows firewall is turned off (I'm running McAfee, and using it's firewall).
I am trying to talk to a friend who is using iChat on a Mac - I am using AIM 6.5 on my Mac running Windows. The connection fails as soon as iChat attempts to answer.
    Mac OS 10.4.10
    Bootcamp 1.4 (beta)
    Windows XP
    McAfee 7.2
    iChat 3.1.8
    Airport Express
I have set up McAfee to allow TCP and UDP connections over ports 2869 (TCP) and 1900 (UDP).
I have also disabled McAfee, and tried to use the Windows firewall settings discussed frequently in this forum (with appropriate exceptions). This also fails.
I have also tried to doing this under my Mac OS X bootup running PARALLELS. This worked once, but I have not been able to repeat it (McAfee was running when it worked).
iChat works great on my Mac under OS X. This is only a problem in Windows XP under Bootcamp.
I cannot connect to appleu3test01 either (under Bootcamp with XP). I can connect to appleu3test01 no problem running iChat on my Mac.
Might this be a Bootcamp related problem? Can anyone else test this for me (i.e. can someone try to use AIM 6.5 from Windows XP under Bootcamp)???
    Thanks!

    Hi Ralph,
{quote}If the Firewall was On I would ask if you had set it up as an Exception
    http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/page12.html#_Service{quote}
Yes, this is what I meant by,
    {quote}I have also disabled McAfee, and tried to use the Windows firewall settings discussed frequently in this forum (with appropriate exceptions). This also fails.{quote}
I've noticed that you've posted solutions frequently in this forum. I read your posts, and visited your website. Its great information ... thanks for posting it! However, it didn't help me to resolve this particular problem.
    You asked,
    {quote}The question now becomes have you allowed it through McAfee ?{quote}
I tried resolving the problem with McAfee "ON" and "OFF". When it was "OFF" I Set the Windows firewall up per your instructions. Unfortunately, it didn't help. And yes, this includes setting up the "exceptions."
I don't think the problem is with McAfee.
    You stated,
    {quote}Having said that and seeing you have tried combos around this issue I would have to point out the AIM site says AIM 6.5 will only Video with other AIM applications. It has been reported here though that it does work with iChat{quote}
Yes, I have read that AIM 6.5 will communicate with iChat on several forums. Lots of people appear to have this working. I wish to use iChat on my Mac to communicate with friends running Windows XP (or Vista) using AIM 6.5. I like iChat.
    Finally, you asked,
    {quote}Next I would have to ask if the modem or router is allowing the AIM application ?{quote}
This is a very good question. I have not been able to test this. I couldn't find an AIM "test" address to use (like Apple's appleu3test01). Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help Ralph. This configuration is a little bit unusual, but it should work. I think the problem might be with the AIM configuration as you've suggested. I will continue to troubleshoot and report any findings here.

  • Boot into bootcamp with external monitor

Has anyone been able to boot into bootcamp with an external monitor? I have a macbook pro (nvidia), and every time I start windows I have to open up the laptop and re-select my cinema display as the primary monitor. I know it doesn't sound that bad but I'd like to be able to boot into windows and not have to reselect the display each time.

I too am very interested in doing this. Perhaps there is a .bat file someone has written to do this somewhere?
Any ideas on how to do that?
    Anyone? Anyone?

  • Bootcamp with Windows Vista

Does installing bootcamp with Windows Vista significantly slow down a mac with a noticeable difference? I have a pretty new mac and am thinking about using this function. Does it make more sense to install windows xp? And what is a good amount of space to leave for the windows side to have?

Does installing bootcamp with Windows Vista significantly >slow down a mac with a noticeable difference?
What do you mean by this? Slows down the whole system? Or the performance of windows?; since you mentioned XP on your later question.
I have tried both windows (vista & xp) on a macbook, and for performance, xp is faster.
as for the whole system (macosX & windows) no diffrence in boot up and speed
as for partition size of windows... that would depend on you whether your mp3, pics, videos would be used on windows or mac... mine is 20gb with no problem

  • Magic mouse on bootcamp with cad files

    Hey,
I want to know if can someone help me to figure out my problem.
I am student to architecture and need the middle button for cad files like autocad, sketchup etc...
For mac I have the magicprefs app - that enable the middle button.
but for windows (run with bootcamp with the 5.1 driver) I don׳t see any solution for this. (and a lot of topic with this problem).
I happy to see answer from you.
    thank you very much.

I had the same issue and I finally make it work executing following steps:
    1. If the Mouse is displayed on Win 7 Bluetooth devices, remove it.
    2. Reboot the computer on Mac OS and change the name of Magic Mouse then remove the Magic Mouse from Mac OS Bluetooth list as well.
    3. Reboot the computer on Bootcamp/Win 7 and use Bluetooth add device to pair the Magic Mouse on Win 7. At this time it should work on Win 7.
    4. Reboot the computer on Mac OS and add again the Bluetooth device. At this point, the name of Magic Mouse will be the old name, so you have to change it to the new name you just set it at step #2.
After this, my Magic Mouse works fine in Mac OS and Win 7 Ultimate/64bits.

  • Bootcamp with multiple drives?

    Hi there,
I have a mid 2012 macbook pro running 10.9.1. I recently installed an SSD in place of my old HDD and put the HDD in place of the optical drive. I was hoping to install windows 7 (or 8.1) with bootcamp onto the HDD but there is a partition error and wont let me. I've been reading everywhere I can and it sounds like I can't install bootcamp with more than one drive in the computer. is that correct? and more importantly, is there any work around? I really dont want to pull my laptop back apart.
    Any help would be appreciated!

I've got a mid-2010 with the same setup you have and I have an XP partition on the hard drive, so it can be done. That's the good news.
The bad news is that you need the optical drive in the machine in order to do it. At least that's how I ended up doing it. It seems like you need the Windows disk in an internal bay in order to make it all work. Once you get it done, make a backup with Winclone. Then if you ever have to do it again, all you need to do is make a Windows Partition with Bootcamp and you can recreate it from there.

  • Bootcamp with Windows 7 won't start with upgraded RAM

    Hello!
I upgraded my RAM from 4Gb to 8Gb.
OS X works fine but bootcamp with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 wont start. The screen goes black and white cursor is blinking at the top left corner. I have waited several minutes but nothing happens.
When I remove the ram I just installed, Windows 7 will start normally.

Are there any other options here? This is quite frustrating. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on my Bootcamp, and upgraded my RAM from 4GB to 8GB (bought Crucial RAM, which should be completely compatible). When I try to boot Windows, I get the blinking cursor hung. This is the ONLY thread I have been able to find that relates directly to this issue. I started to re-install Windows from the bootable install disc, but that tells me it will re-install Windows, and save all the old data in a volume called "Windows.old" and that I can access this data but "will not be able to use my old version of Windows." Maybe that's OK. Since I use my Windows partition exclusively for gaming and 3D sculpture work, I am pretty sure I can just pull all the appropriate data and re-install it in the new version of Windows. But I am leery of going through all this after reading the tale of woe told here that says that even re-installing with 8 GB RAM fresh does not work. Does anyone know of any other resources or options here? I can't even get to "Safe" mode - just a black screen and the blinking cursor.....arrrrgh! Any help greatly appreciated!

  • Can I bootcamp with a digital copy of Windows?

    Hello,
I want to have Windows on on a Mac; however, before I purchase software the way I always do, I have a question. Can you bootcamp with a digital copy of Windows (without a disk I mean). I see everywhere that people are using CDs, but If I were to just buy the software online and transfer the information onto another medium, will that give me the same results, or do I need a Windows CD?

One more question, if you are still here.
The FAQ page where it tell you which Macs can work with 32 bit and 64 bit. It has confused it. It says that Early 2011 Mac Book Pros can work with either. However, at the top says MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009) and later only work with 64 bit. I have a Late 2011...

  • If I upgrade to Lion will I keep my current bootcamp with XP installed?

If I upgrade to Lion will I keep my current bootcamp with XP installed working?

OS X Lion: "Some features of Mac OS X Lion are not supported for the disk (volume name)" appears during installation
Normally, and if you didn't change the number or resize the partitions, should be fine.
I don't think anyone can guarantee anything, which is why backups are essential.
You can even install Lion to an external drive as well.
For Mac, you can clone your system and have a bootable backup; use TimeMachine.
For Windows, there are various tools to backup data or partitions.

Mini works accessing MBP/Air and I can use Mini to input data or interact with screens of those computers.

Regarding your first question about bookmarks, I think you discovered the answer in when you pressed the address bar. The second tab there has your bookmarks.
As for the keyboard, I'm not sure why your Firefox is reacting so slowly; mine seems to show keyboards even when I don't want them. If you have accumulated a lot of history, perhaps that's an issue?
Did you use any third party software to move your Firefox data from internal memory to the storage card?
