No burner detected.
Where is Premiere Elements 8 forum?
Since using other software, when I try to burn a DVD I get an error "no burners detected".
I saw very complicated instructions for fixing this in earlier versions such as Premiere 3. Is this still a known bug?
Welcome to the forum - though the PrElements forum is HERE.
On your way over there, you might want to see this ARTICLE. When PrE (or Encore) cannot find a burner, it is almost always some other software conflicting.
Good luck,
Hunt

Premier Elements 11 - "no burner detected"
I have recently upgraded from elements 9 to elements 11. The software is installed on my lap topPC which runs on Windows 7 64bit.
The programme is working perfectly except for when I try to burn a project onto a DVD. When I select share and burn to DVD I get a message saying "no burner detected". I had no problem with version 9 on the same lap top from which I was able to burn a DVD without any difficulty. Funnily enough, if I select to burn as AVCHD the disc burner is detected.
The lap top is an Asus N55S intel core i7 - 2.2 Ghz with 6GB ram
I hope someone can offer a solution to this perplexing problem
Thanks
Brian SabertonThanks to both Bill and Steve for your replies. Apart from Windows explorer I don't have any other DVD burner software on the computer. I have downloaded and installed some non-critical updates, including the most recent driver for the graphics card, but it has not resolved the problem.
I tried burning to a folder and then burned from the folder to a DVD using Windows explorer but the disc will only play on my computer and refuses to play on any of my DVD players. I have a friend who had the same problem with a disc burned using Pinnacle and he thinks this is probably something to do with Windows 7.
I also happen to have Elements 11 installed on my desk top PC which is also running on Windows 7, with explorer the DVD burner, and here I have no problem in burning a project to DVD directly from Elements. (Until recently I used the desk top for all my video editing but it won't handle HD very well so I'm using the lap top for any HD editing)
I'd prefer to be able to burn directly from Elements on the lap tp but I guess if I can't fix the problem I'll have to opt for another burner, so thanks for the information re Imgburn. I'll let you know how I get on.
Your help is very much appreciated

Hi!
In the latests kernel upgrades (3 or 4 weeks) I lost my dvd burn capabilities...
it was working previously...
apparently dvd drive is detected properly, I can see dvd contents, etc... but brasero do not give me an option to burn on it (just shows .iso file)
that is happening in my desktop, and laptop too.... any idea?

and, looking at that, the k8temp do not work properly, it shows an error at startup (that happened in the latests kernel upgrades too, I guess)

but I tried commenting those lines without not luck

External DVD Burner detected only as reader
Hello,
I have a problem with an IBM external (USB) dvd burner. I manage to use it as a reader correctly, but I can't see him as an available burner in brasero or K3B. I managed to use it previously with a Ubuntu dist, so it should be supported, but I believe there must be a problem of access rights, of HAL or so on.
Could somebody give me some hints on what to do?I finally found the root cause... I wasn't part of the optical group. Once added to the group, I could burn correctly
-
Is PREL 13.1 the Problem, or is it the burner in my computer?
Once again, I am hoping the expertise of the devoted leaders of our USERS FORUM can solve my problems. Thank you again for your devotion and efforts on behalf of all of us who struggle to produce our masterpieces.
I purchased Pre El 13 on Dec 29 and installed it 1-5-15.
My computer—Hpe 580t, Win 7 Professional 64-bit OS with a second internal 1 TB hard drive; Burner Drive F: Name-- hp CDDVDW TS-H653T
Intel R Core, TM i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07 GHz, RAM 9.00GB
I use a Nikon Coolpix 100 camera to video indoor pickleball tournaments at 5 mega pixel size. These video clips range from seven seconds to one or two minutes. I use PREL 13 to arrange the clips into whole games, which requires a lot of editing to eliminate in-between rallies and to correct lighting. Starting with as many as 5 or 6 hours of clips, I pare down to a movie that will fit comfortably on one DVD—less than four GB, or 1 hour 45 minutes, of finished material. After struggling alone for three months, I was able to produce such a DVD within about two weeks, thanks to A T Romano.
THE PROBLEM—after all the time and effort to produce a good movie, Prel won’t recognize the burner on my computer; therefore, I can’t produce a DVD disk. (I always go through the Publish and Share dialog for burning a DVD with recommended settings.) See Figure 1—below.
Even after I click on RESCAN several times, and make sure a blank disk is in the F: burner drive, PREL 13.1 refuses to find the computer burner.
Due to insufficient Upload speed (usually between 2.5 to 3.5 mbps) internet speed, sharing my Videos is wholly dependent on burning one to two hours of edited videos to DVD medium. I have tried saving the movie to a Video_TS file on my computer, but cannot save all the components of the movie in the same TS file and be able to burn a DVD using ImgBurn. The menus and scene markers are missing completely, and some of the video clips are also missing. See Figure 2.
I want to use the Movie Menu Tools and scene markers to designate the beginning and ending of each scene, which I will burn to a DVD for playback on TV. Movie menus and scene markers only work if I use the burner through PREL 13. Other outside burners, like Windows Movie Maker or ImgBurn do not recognize the movie theme or the scene markers, nor do they provide any way to skip to a certain scene marker on the disk.
While working on other projects, I was able to burn DVD’s; however, I have become increasingly frustrated, because the vacant box indicating no burner detected is now happening every time.
Would this problem be solved by upgrading or installing another burner?
Or is this some ingrained bug in the PREL 13 software? (Such as; a burn can fail by inserting a stop marker at the end of a movie or scene)
Another PROBLEM—there is no way to save the edited video clips to a file, to be used again when PREL refuses to recognize my computer’s burner, which requires me to start all over with the editing process.
To avoid importing all the raw videos to PREL in an endless chain of clips and editing, I tried saving each game, or sometimes a whole match, to an mpg2 file on the computer. Then it could be returned to my project by dragging and dropping the file onto the timeline in the proper sequence. This method works in theory, but again, PREL won’t detect my burner in PUBLISH AND SHARE.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with me.

Figure 1
Figure 2The complete message is missing--again. I'll try posting directly into this frame. Sandgrass.
ATR—my answers to your Q’s and instructions are in red (except where indicated by ANSWER) below your statements.. It got sort of hairy trying to carry out all these steps and tasks below.
Sandgrass
Thanks for the great post full of information.
For troubleshooting purposes, make one or more copies of your project - File Menu/Save A Copy - and work from copies each, each with a different name than the original.
Did you look at the burn to disc or folder with and without the Intel HD Graphics 2000 or Higher disabled?
ANSWER-- Please see Edit Menu/Preferences/General.----------- I unchecked the box for acceleration and - - - See LOVELY Screen Shot (Fig 5) Burn Status = Ready.
How do you know all this stuff? I’m afraid to touch boxes and choices for fear it will really mess me up, and unless someone instructs me to do so.
Is the burner recognized and can you burn to disc if you remove the Timeline menu markers and Movie Menu from the project?------------Burn Status shows Ready!
With no Menu Markers or Movie Menu, I tried a Burn command after rechecking the Hdw Accel. box, and the Burn Status shows Ready with the box either checked or unchecked. Since the Hardware Acceleration checkbox seems to be related to my problem, (Fig 6) is a Screen Shot of my computer’s two Drivers, F: & G: . Is Hardware Accel necessary for good quality movies such as I want to produce?
A. Could this one box be the source of all my troubles?
B. Why is it now working either way?
3. The 15 minute duration limit is for Instant Movie. You are not using Instant Movie so, with your19 minute Timeline, you should have no 15 minute restriction and should be fine in that regard. One thing you could check out about your Timeline structure - see if it makes a difference in any of the workflow - look to the Timeline spot about 00;17;05;02 - what is that clip and can you fill in the empty audio space under it with muted audio? Clip at 17;05:02 looks normal to me. There is a gap in the audio at 17:20:21 where I inserted a Black Video and Title. Muted audio? Couldn’t find a reference to Muted Audio. Sorry.
4. Let us go back to focus on the VIDEO_TS Folder from the saved burn to folder route....
Publish+Share -- Disc – DVD -- burn to: Folder (4.7 GB)...
In the Quality area of the burn dialog, what is displayed for Space Required and Bitrate with and without a check mark next to "Fit Content to Available Space"?
(Fig 7) is a Scn Shot of the Settings for saving an MPEG file to computer. I don’t know enough to mess with most of the presets when the window opens. I did bump up the Quality to high 80’s, low 90’s. The Field Order is preset to Lower First.
Are you taking only the VIDEO_TS Folder in the saved Premiere Elements folder into ImgBurn?
ImgBurn
Write Files/folders to disc
File Menu/Browse to source folder (that being only your VIDEO_TS Folder)
Here we go! I was opening the TS folder and trying to choose what files had to be imported to ImgBurn! OK—so you take the entire VIDEO_TS Folder to ImgBurn?
Out of time for today. I will proceed from here and report back to you, hopefully tomorrow.
(ANSWER CONTINUES, SHOULD BE IN RED.)
Since I will be pushing the limits of a 4.7 GB, two-hour movie for my third project, how long should the ideal segments be before saving to an mpeg folder, to be dragged and dropped back to my timeline if I burn straight to DVD?
Which way would net the best DVD quality—Burn straight to DVD, or save to a VIDEO_TS Folder and use ImgBurn for the DVD?
You deserve a medal for all you have done for me. Thanks so much, ATR Sandgrass
Let us review the above and then focus in on what next.

I have an HP Computer., approximately one year old. Since I bought the program,( about 8 months ago) it had worked correctly, but last month, I could not save projects to DVD because program said, " No burner detected" . Welcome any help as I am trying to convert Family VHS tapes to DVD.

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
Assuming for now you are aiming at DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc and not AVCHD on DVD disc.
We can try at least 3 different approaches to restore Premiere Elements burner location recognition for your DVD/CD burner (assumed not Blu-ray DVD burner).
For now, I am going to assume Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
1. Delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and, if necessary, the whole 12.0 Folder in which it exists.
Local Disk C
Users
Owner
AppData
Roaming
Adobe
Premiere Elements
12.0
and in the 12.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then you delete the whole 12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path cited.
2. Deactivate the program from within the opened project - in version 12, Expert workspace Help Menu/Sign Out. Then uninstall the program via the usual Control Panel route. Next do a ccleaner run through (regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts) to get rid of leftovers from incomplete uninstalls and reinstalls.
CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
Finally reinstall the program with the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
3. Refresh the DVD drivers.
CD, DVD drive not recognized after Adobe application install | Windows
We will be watching for your results.
Thanks.

Add On...at the onset, please assure that the issue still exists with the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled. -
Hi, my computer is not detecting any display, i'd been having this problem since i connected my computer to a tv, the tv burned up, and after that my port doesn't detect anything at all?? Was that the problem can I fix it.I have the lion 10.7.5. Dont know if I changed settings or something.
Hello,
It isn't the fw in Network you want o use or look at, that's for something completely different.
My first suspect is the Power Adapter on the LaCie has gone.
At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac, then click on More Info, then click on Hardware>Firewire, what is listed there?
Reset the Firewire bus
If your Firewire or USB isn't recognizing any device. A solution which has worked for some whose hard drive became invisible in 10.4 was simply to follow these four steps to reset the Firewire/USB bus:
1. Shut the machine down.
2. UNPLUG the power lead to the computer and any firewire/USB drive or devices.
3. leave it for 10 minutes.
4. Connect back up and reboot.

PE8 Can't Burn a DVD - "No burners detected" on Share Menu
I cannot burn my video to DVD because PE8 is not detecting either of my two DVD burners.
On the Share tab, Start a new share: Disc, the menu opens and on the Status line it has the yellow caution ! triangle and states "No burners detected."
I have a Dell Studio XPS8100 and W7 64 bit. The DVD RW drive works properly with other burning software. Thoughts? Thanks, Bill. I appreciate the response but unfortunately it did
not correct the problem. I uninstalled Roxio, but Windows 7 seems to have a built-
in burn-to-disk feature that I cannot disable. Any other thoughts?
Thanks,

PRE 12 does not detect my BD burner
I have a Liteon Blu Ray burner which PrE 12 does not detect when I try and burn a BD disc. However if I select DVD to burn a disc PrE does detect the same burner. I never had this issue in previous versions of PrE.
Any suggestions?
RussellRussell
Unfortunately Premiere Elements (any version) does not have a burn to folder for Blu-ray.
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? For now, I will assume Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
Have you updated 12 to 12.1 Update, using an opened project's Help Menu/Update? If not, please do so.
Difficult problem which may force you into looking at an external Blu-ray burner for your Premiere Elements 12/12.1 burn to Blu-ray unless you
want to try to replace the Liteon internal for another brand/model internal Blu-ray burner. Can you borrow an external Blu-ray burner from an associate to determine if that route will work for you?
But, let us try two approaches to determine if either will have any impact on this situation....
2. If "1" does not work, then let us go to
a. Deactivation via Help Menu/Sign Out of an opened project. Close out of there and then....
b. Uninstall via the usual Control Panel/Programs route
c. free ccleaner run through (regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts) to get rid of leftovers from incomplete uninstalls/reinstalls
d. reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
3. Usual drill...
a. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed
b. Running program from User Account with Administrative Privileges and Run As Administrator applied to desktop icon of the program
Please review and consider and then we can decide what next.
Thanks.

Any idea? Brasero is working well here. You could give graveman a try: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=43499
Its a simple program and it seems to work just fine here. -
Brasero doesn't detect CD burner
I had this problem in my other Arch installation and haven't solved it yet.
I installed brasero, followed the post-install instructions but when I hit the Burn button, it seems that it doesn't detect the CD burner drive and lets me write only to a file image. Same problem while running it under root (so no permission problem probably)
This is the only error I get when running it under my regular user:
** (brasero:17100): WARNING **: hal_initialize failed: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory
and while running under root:
(brasero:17114): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.
libnotify-Message: Unable to get session bus: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
** (brasero:17114): WARNING **: hal_initialize failed: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory
How can this be solved?Great, it works.
I never really knew what this HAL was, but I remembered it had something to do with issues like this, so I added my user to the hal group. too bad I didn't start it
Thanks.

Creative Media Player Doesn't Detect Burn
<FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#cc33ff>Hello,
<FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#cc33ff>I am running the latest version of Creative Media Player and it does not detect my burners. I have a Plextor 708A DVD/CD Burner and an NEC 6x DVD/CD burner. I have no problems with Roxio 7 or with Nero 6 Pro detecting and burning, just with Creative. There are to tools in the software to detect devices at all, unless someone has an idea. Otherwise the burning feature is totall useless...
<FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#cc33ff>Thanks!<FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ff9900>
<FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ff0066>Hey Jason,
<FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ff0066>Thanks for the help and it worked like a charm! You are the best. Just an FYI for those who have multiple burners in their system like me: The software seems to only detect the burner that is set to master on the IDE channel, and doesn't pick up the slave. If your you have two or more burners and want to use a particular one, be sure it is not the slave on your IDE channel. -
Optical drive (CD/DVD burner) not detected by Windows - dv9812us
I've been dealing with the same or at least a similar situation for the past week.
I've got an HP dv9812us running Vista home premium SP 2. The drive is detected by the BIOS because it attempts to boot from the drive, the light blinks, and you can open the drive via the button. Once Windows starts booting, though, it quits working entirely. It doesn't show up in the Computer folder and it doesn't show up in the Device Manager.
So far, I have tried:
1) Following the suggestions listed by HP here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00678214&tmp_track_link=ot_faqs/top_issues/en_...
- similar to the link given previously, only specific to a notebook rather than a PC
- includes suggestions for running MS FixIt for drive limits
- checking for the presence of the drive in Device Manager
- uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers in Device Manager (which I can't do because the device isn't listed in the Device Manager)
- and downloading and installing the latest firmware and software for the drive (also can't do because Microsoft's software doesn't detect the drive).
2) Following the suggestions listed here by Apple because this problem is apparently common in conjunction with the installation of iTunes with Vista: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2308
- repeats suggestion for download/reinstall for firmware/drivers for optical drive
- also: checking C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder for "afs.sys" or "afs2k.sys" files which may interfere with GEAR drivers for iTunes
- manually removing the GEAR drivers from your computer and registry and then reinstalling them.
3) Running the HP and Windows Update programs to make sure all of my software and firmware is up to date.
4) Uninstalling iTunes and downloading and reinstalling iTunes.
5) Physically removing and reinstalling the optical drive without powering up
6) Physically removing the drive, booting up, shutting down, reinstalling the drive, and booting up again.
7) Hard reset suggested by CherylG
8) Removing the optical drive from my roommate's Pavilion, exchanging the mounting bracket and bezel from mine, installing the known-good drive into my computer, and booting (everything was exactly the same as with my normal drive...worked in BIOS, quit working as soon as Windows began booting up)
9) Running sfc /scannow and found no corrupt files
10) Placing hammer where it can be seen by my laptop as sarcastically suggested by my friend Jason.
None of these have worked and I can't find any other suggestions listed anywhere. I'm keen on the iTunes issue simply because I hadn't really used the optical drive since I'd installed the newest version of iTunes and it had worked prior to that. Is there a way for me to find the drivers for the optical drive manually? Microsoft wants to find them itself, but since Windows doesn't detect the drive, all it does it tell me that Windows didn't detect the drive.Hi, guys, I have had the exact same problem since the summer of 2010. Here's what I was able to find out.
Deleting upper/lower filters, running all those Fix Ya programs and other Microsoft crap is useless. This problem is most certainly has nothing to do with registry of any software on your computer. I took my HP 9620us to a couple of repair places and, they tried a lot of things and it appears that the root of this problem is a faulty motherboard connection. Of course, it costs about 400 bucks to fix it so I'm not sure I want to pay this kind of money.
Anyway, if somebody was able to fix it PLEASE post here to let us know. Again I am 99 per cent sure it's some piece of hardware in the motherboard. -
Mini no longer detecting Sony firewire DL dvd burner
Hello,
I picked up an external sony dvd burner for cheap and it worked fine for quite some time. My mini only has a cd burner so it was a perfect solution.
I was using Toast with it just fine.
Out of no where my mini does not pick it up at all. I know the drive works as I've plugged it in via firewire to my G4 ibook.
System profiler shows under FireWire "firewire bus" and the rest is blank. Could it be my port is gone? I dont think I ever plugged that firewire cable out untill i tried figuring out what was going on.
Any help would be great.Hi
I had a very similar problem. My Mini G4 did not mount any externaal device, Firewire or USB, nor even the in-built CD Drive.
It is now away for repair awaiting a new motherboard (I am told).
Hope yours turns out to be a simpler remedy.
David
