  • No disc burner found

This is doing my head in. I have purchased an album from the I tunes store however I can't burn to CD, when I try it says " CD Burner not found " or something similar. I am using a Lacie external CD/DVD burner connected via firewire ???
I have tried moving the files into Roxio toast and burning that way, but no joy. The files are M4p which I don't think are recognised.
Any advice appeciated so I can burn this album to CD
    Cheers

I have also had this problem, although mine just seemed to stop working all by itself! I did have to restore my pc and I can't remember if it worked after that but I've done that before and had no problems. I checked that I had installed the drivers for the CD-RW and I had so I am somewhat flummoxed.
Mind you it's all a bit irrelevent at the moment as since updating itunes doesn't work anyway - I have tried everything mentioned on the forums but nothing works. In fact mine doesn't even start doing anything - it just opens and sits on my desktop doing nothing - **** thing won't even shut down properly.

  • Windows XP: Disc Burner or Software Not Found/No Supported Disc Burners

I am running Windows XP SP2 with all the latest updates on a Sony VAIO laptop. I recently upgrade to iTunes 7.3.1 and discovered that I was unable to burn audio CDs. iTunes does not recognize the CD burner in my laptop. I have other CD burning software (Sonic), and have successfully burned both an audio CD and a data CD using the software.
When I insert an audio CD, iTunes is able to recognize it and offers to import it into my library.
I searched the forums and used some suggestions from other users to revert back to the 7.2 and 7.1.1 software. The burner is still not recognized. I've even gone through the regedit exercise, removing anything related to iTunes, short of the files stored under My Music\iTunes.
I have an OEM desktop computer (Windows XP) that is also having the same problem (no disc burner found). The desktop is also able to insert an audio CD and have iTunes recognize it and offer to import it.
I would appreciate any help anyone can provide on this.

Gabrix is correct. It turned out the issue was with Daemon tools - which I had uninstalled, but which leaves nasty little drivers on your system.
Thanks for to some help from friends, I found this link: http://forums.techguy.org/multimedia/582230-problem-disc-burner-software-not.htm l which points both how to completely uninstall Daemon and how to update Daemon if you wish to keep it on your system.
I hope this helps. It's sure better than having my system reboot every time I try to run the diagnostics check.

  • My itunes will not burn cd. telling me new burning software added may cause this

I recently had Windows Vista put on my computer. I had Roxio put on it also. I tunes will not burn my playlist because of this. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing itunes . this does not correct the problem. I tuunes is telling me there is no disc burner found.

    Hello bacovino,
From what you describe it sounds like you are getting this error message when trying to burn a CD in iTunes even after uninstalling the iTunes application:
"Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
I recommend uninstalling not only iTunes but its associated softwares as well, as outlined in the following article:
iTunes for Windows: "Registry settings" warning when opening iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3299
iTunes installs a device filter which helps it work with your optical drive. If this device filter is missing, you will see the message mentioned above. To resolve this issue, follow the steps below to reinstall iTunes and put the device filter back in place:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
If the issue persists after re installing iTunes again, there is additional troubleshooting in the article that involves installing the device filter in Windows, which it walks you through.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Can You Change Burn Programs?

    Hello,
I am having problems burning iPhoto albums using the iPhoto burn program that is provided. In an effort to check out my superdrive I downloaded a burn program called Burn found at http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net and the exact media that says "the media is not writable" works fine with this software and over 3 GB without any problems.
So, I was wanting to know if you could burn with another program. Or, is there some setting on my burn program that needs to be changed. I am using version 6.0.6.
I know you can export photos but then you lose the iPhoto structure when it is burnt. Instead I want to keep the iPhoto structure.
    Thanks,
    Randal

There is no way to change the Burn application for iPhoto I'm afraid. Exporting is your only way.
    Regards

  • No sound in garageband after Lion install.

No sound in garageband after Lion install, can anybody help please?

12 hours ago my midi played through Garageband with no problems. Today it does not play. The Garageband window shows that the keys are being played.
In the moments following I turned on iTunes and all was fine so I burned a disc in my usual factory installed burner, late 2008 iMac, and the message was "no disc burner found". I turned iTunes on and off and same message. Ran Disc Utility and no flags. I am using the Disc Utility that is on my desktop. Is there a hidden Lion disc utility? Nothing worked unless there is a hidden function.
I was able to burn using Toast. This would indicate that the problems is with iTunes 10, OS 10.7.1

  • Adobe Elements 12 not recognizing DVD drive, Help please!!

In my Adobe Elements 12 for some reason when I go to burn, it saying no burners detected. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how can it be fixed. Thank you so much in advance.

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? Have you updated from 12 to 12.1 using an opened project's Help Menu/Update? Please do so.
Assuming a Windows compute for now.
Is this "no burner found" situation described as "it never worked before" or "it worked before but not now"?
If it has worked before, then I would ask
    1. Do you have iTunes on your computer? Have you recently updated it?
If so, you might consider uninstalling both Premiere Elements 12 and iTunes, and then reinstalling only Premiere Elements 12. I would go through the scenario
    1. Uninstall Premiere Elements 12 and iTunes via Control Panel
    2. Do a ccleaner run through (regular and registry parts)
CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
    3. Reinstall of Premiere Elements 12 only.
We will be watching for your results.
    Thank you.

  • I recently tried to burn some photos to a disc.  It did not work, but then I ended up with a .fpbf folder on my desktop.  Can't trash it, and when trying to burn again, I get this "... can't be burned because the original items can't be found". Help???

I recently tried to burn some photos on a CD. For some reason, It did not work.  Now I have a .fpbf folder on my desktop. I can't seem to get rid of it.  I tried dragging it to the trash, but then I get a box asking my to type my password it, so Finder can make the changes.  Doing so, does nothing at all.  And when I try to burn another CD from the same .fpbf file, I get a the following message: "There are 35 items that can’t be burned because the original items can’t be found. Skip the items and continue burning?".   When I skip and continue burning, nothing shows up on the CD.  In the meantime, the .fpbf folder is still in my desktop.  I tried changing the aliases on each pic, but it still doesn't work.  Any ideas of how I can remove this folder from my desktop?
    Thank you.

    Beavis2084,
Thank you for your detailed explanation but something is seriously wrong with my computer. Although the method you have described is very similar to the one I tried in step 2 from my second post, I have since "done things" which may have complicated matters—or suggests that my computer has a more serious problem.
    Here's what I did:
1). Installed Onyx and discovered that I had a .plist file (com.apple.iphotomosaic.plist) that was causing a Syntax error: "Conversion of data failed. The file is not UTF-8, or in the encoding specified in XML header, if XML." After doing some research online, I was given the understanding that downloading the iLife update 9.0.3 (I installed the more recent version, 9.0.4) would solve this problem because it would also fix some system issues. So, I downloaded it...and when it didn't solve the problem, I decided to just deleted that .plist file.
2). I read your knew post and decided to follow your directions, even though I realized they were basically the same steps I followed in the 2nd method I mentioned earlier. I say "basically" because, for some reason, after inserting a blank disc, my computer does not open the disc in the Finder. Instead, it places the blank disc's image on the Desktop, even though the Finder's Preferences and the System's Preferences are set to have it open in the Finder—nothing should be on my Desktop! (Note: When transferring the items (all folders) I want to burn to the blank disc, I did not use the Option-Click-Drag method as before, I used the Click-Drag method, which created the curved arrow in the lower left corner of each item.)
Now, for the result of "method 2," the method we basically have in common, the computer goes through the burn stage but, in the verify stage, tells me that it is unable to verify the disk, suggests that my DVD may be unreliable and that I should try another disc, and then tells me about some "fork" (?) error (-43).
I don't know what to do anymore...

  • HT203164 Error trying to burn a CD from an iTunes playlist - files not found on hard drive??

I have a new computer with Windows 8 Home Premium.  Before the old computer crashed, I had backed up all my iTunes Media in the cloud.  I had also purchased a soundtrack album from the iTunes store and put the songs into a playlist.  All media was matched with the new computer, and the new computer was authorized by me in iTunes, so all my previous media shows up in iTunes on the new computer.  The only symbol next to the song titles in iTunes for all my songs is a picture of a tiny cloud.
When I play the songs in the playlist from the new computer in iTunes, they all play just fine.  However, when I try to burn a CD with the songs in the playlist, I get this error message (it has no number associated with it):  The song "[name of song]" could not be burned because the file cannot be found on the computer hard drive.  I tried burning CD's from any other playlist but was not able to burn a CD from ANY playlist; I get the same error message no matter what I try to do.  I would really like to be able burn CD's from iTunes, because that's what plays in my car.  Hooking up an iPod in the car does play music, but it is faded and of bad quality (my car is an '05 model).
Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong here and how I can fix it so burning CD's in iTunes will again be an option?  I don't burn many CD's but would really like to be able to do so.  The version of iTunes I have is 11, all the iTunes files are updated, and the CD drive is working fine,  I am able to play CD's in iTunes from it and burn other songs to it using another media player.  I am also using top-quality new blank CD's, and when trying to burn a CD from a playlist, I select Audio CD with 2 seconds for the gap between songs, and the album text, then I select Burn.  I've tried selecting other options in turn, but get the same error message.
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help with this issue - it seems I am the only one having it.

I actually solved this problem myself.  I discovered, while playing around with the new iTunes, that clicking on PLAYLISTS on the menu bar shows the playlists that I have created on the left side of the window (like the old iTunes used to do by default).  I scrolled down to the playlist I wanted to burn to a CD, right-clicked on it, and a menu came up.  I selected DOWNLOAD....this downloads my playlist songs from the cloud to my computer hard drive.  After that, the little "cloud pictures" next to my songs disappeared, and I was able to burn the CD with no problems.
I hope this helps someone else....I was quite lost for a while.  Which is amazing, considering how user-friendly most Apple products have historically been.
