No button in 11g?
Hi,
In reports 6i , we could add buttons to the report (in the layout editor)....
Is this not possible in Reports 11g
Thanks.

Hello,
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/products/migration/reports-guide-to-changed-functional-132446.pdf
Buttons were used in client/server user interface (for example, to launch drill-down reports). Buttons are not applicable to the Web environment, and you must use hyperlinks instead. If you open existing 6i reports containing buttons, the buttons are displayed as simple text objects.

Just now we migrated from 10g to 11g ; so we deleted the reset button we have created earlier using HTML scripts because default REST button is coming in 11g. But when i check that button functionalty its not taking us to default values in the prompt values its just a taking us to previous values what we have selected ; its just a back button.
So to give the same functionalty in OBI can we remove or can we change the RESET BUTTON functionalties in OBI 11G.Hi,
An enhancement request has been logged to make the functionality in a more friendly way
Bug 12765210 - OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0: RESET BUTTON DOESN'T WORK IN A FRIENDLY WAY
Also Note "Doc ID 1308554.1 Reset Button In OBIEE Dashboard Prompt Does Not Clear Choices." explains the current behavior
There is no way to remove the button , in fact there is an Enhancement Request for this

How to disable Commit button declaratively (11g)
Hello,
I have a commit button (wired up to the Commit DataControl operation of an application module).
It is in a toolbar.
After I press commit, it never becomes disabled, even though I have ChangeEventPolicy set to ppr on the Iterator that the Commit Binding points to as shown on the Page Data Binding Definition editor.
How can I get the button to disable? Setting any of the other UI components as a partialTrigger doesn't do anything, because--I'm guessing here--none of them change during a commit.
Edited by: lili5058 on Feb 26, 2009 12:12 PMDrop a setactionListener on the button put from value as #{true} and to value as #{processScope.disablebtn} and put the disable condition on button as #{processScope.disablebtn==true}.

Single Go button for all prompts - without making changes to system files
Hi All,
I went thru several threads and blogs which suggest to do certain changes in the .js files to get a single go button for a group of prompts (saved as individual objects)
Is it possible to have single go button in 11g for prompts which are saved separately without changing the system files?
Many Thanks,
RSHi,
I dont think so. But in 11.1.6 version there is a feasibility to avoid apply and reset buttons. so that will make to appear all the prompts together.
And you can try to built a common prompt filter with all the columns, but it will be bad and cause lots of problems.
Hope this helped/ answered.

OBIEE 11g Dashboard Prompt Reset Button Functionality
Dear Experts,
Can anyone explain what is the exact functionality of 'Reset' Button in any OBIEE 11g Dashboard Prompt.
If anyone found any documentation related to it... please let me know.
thanks,
VarunHi Varun,
This is the functionality of Reset button,
Reset will go back to last applied values. It does not clear values. Currently the Reset button works in the following ways:
if 1) the prompt is blank 2) select some value, 3) reset 4) it should go back to blank.
if 1) the prompt is blank 2) select some value, 3) apply 4) reset. 5) it should NOT to back to blank. actually it does not change anything.
if 1) the prompt is blank 2) select some value, 3) apply 4) change any values 5) reset. 6) it should undo any changes in step 4.

Buttons not showing up for Writeback option in OBIEE 11g
Hey guys,
I'm struggling with the writeback option in OBIEE 11g.
I've made all the required changes as per the documentation.
1) Making the column writeable in BMM layer.
2) Giving the column and the table read/write permission in the presentation layer.
3) writing the query in the xml for insert and update and have put it in the right path.
4) Modified the instance config and included the <Lightwriteback>true</Lightwriteback> in it.
5) Enable the column with writeback property.
6)Enabled the table view property with writeback.
However when i untick the table toggle mode,it makes the column editable but without any update button.
whereas if i tick the table toggle mode it neither makes the column editable nor does it shows up any button.
Could somebody help me out with the solution.
Thanks,
AnirbanAnirban,
You need to make sure that 'Write Back to Database' privilages have been correctly setup for you. If you have admin rights on the catalog, you should be able to check and modify it under Security > Manage Privilages on the Administration screen.

OBIEE 11g Radio Button Value show horizontally instead of vertically
Hi,
Can the Radio Buttons Prompt values in OBIEE 11g be shown horizontally instead of vertically on a dashboard prompt.
Thanks
KathyI cannot find it in the out of the box functionality. I think it might be possible with some custom programming which I do not have time to investigate.
If somebody has done this, please let us know if it is possible. -

I installed the following tools :-
Weblogic Server 10.3.6

Oracle Portal,Forms,Report,and Discoverer Services (11.1.1.4.0)
1. Create a "icons" folder and place all gif images in there :-
C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_Form1\forms\java\<icons>
2. Within icons i made a jar file of all gif images :-
C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_Form1\forms\java\icons\jar -cvf frmicons.jar *.gif
3. Copy this new jar file into :-
C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_Form1\forms\java\
4. Edit formsweb.cfg file:
imageBase=codebase
archive=frmall.jar,frmicons.jar
5. Edit Registry.dat file:
default.icons.iconpath=/forms/java
default.icons.iconextension=gif
After doing above configuration i create a form and place an icon on the button.
Set button's icon property = Yes and give name of icon without extension.
When i run the form not display icons who configure icons.
Please give the solution how to set icons on button.

Bug in JDev 11g: clicking "Run" button won't run active file
Hi everybody.
If you start a new Application in Oracle JDeveloper 11g and start creating Java classes, at some point you're bound to create a main() function in one of them to ensure everything is working correctly, even if that class is not your application entry point.
The problem is that, once you run it the first time, JDev 11g will always attempt to run that original class instead of the file you're currently working on.
More info:
- This only happens with the "Run" and "Debug" toolbar buttons and menu items, the keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl-F11 and such) work as expected.
- The checkbox labeled "Attempt to Run Active File Before Default" in the Launch Settings is selected (The "Default Run Target" textbox is empty).
I downloaded the JDev 11g version that came WITHOUT a JDK and I'm running Java version 1.6.0_07 on Windows XP.
Thanks in advance for any help.More info on the subject:
Oracle JDev 11g seems to be unable to detect that there is an active file at all! This is evidenced by the fact that all of the External Tools are inactive at all times.
Is it JDev's fault, or is it the installed JDK's? -
Issue with Icons display in PUSH BUTTONS in forms 11g
Hello,
This is regarding an issue with the icons background for the push buttons in the forms 11g. When we enable the icons for the buttons (.gif) they are visible on the
top left corner of the buttons and not in the centre. In one of the forums it was written like this is a common problem in Forms 11g. Is there any way by which we can
centralize this icons on the Forms buttons. Also I have heard that image editing tools can be used to centralize the icons. I tried with one of the tools but it seems
like it is not working.
Can somebody suggest a workaround for this?
Thanks in Advance
RamI will assume you are attempting to use the images included in the Forms applet jar. These images are purposely structured so that the subject is off-centered. You should not see that same behavior if you use your own images or edit the ones built-in to Forms. However, keep in mind that the images packaged in the Forms applet jar are intended to be used in a menu toolbar and not custom buttons.

Compile PL/SQL with JDEV 11g TP4 - Compile button missing ?
Hi
I have been working through the database development with Jdeveloper tutorial:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/db_dev/obe_%20databasedevmt.htm
this, as name suggests, discusses db development with jdev 11g TP4.
However I seem to have an issue with the section named 'Creating and Debugging PL/SQL Objects in the Database'.
In section 9 of 'creating a pl/sql package' the tutorial talks about a compile for debug button on the code editor. This essentially compiles the package against the DB, however in my Jdev, this button is does not exist. Is this just because this is only a tech preview version or is there some further config I need to do?
Versions are..
OS: Vista SP1
JDEV: 11.1.1.0.0
DB: 10.2.0.1.0
Thanks in advance
