No cabling at all!

in the last month a block of 10 flats were finished in which my family and others have moved. at least four of these including myself have had orders placed with bt. my first appointment on 7th October came and went and after contacting bt found out that the main cabling had not been finished and was due to be done by the 10th October. so 2 flats went without there first appointment. an engineer came out today for a flat on this block and the cabling between the flats and green box still not done! so my personal appointment is booked for 11th November over a month and a half since i first ordered. when on earth is the cabling going to be done or are we just going to have an appointment come and go with no word from bt!

BT do not provide or maintain the external network and cabling up to the master socket. This is done by Openreach who work for all service providers. BT do not get any special treatment.
BT will be waiting to hear from them, when the work is complete. Then they will be able to progress any orders.

Hi there. I also bought an iWires mini Display port to HDMI cable and have an LG LED/LCD TV. I plugged it in to my MB Pro and followed the very small writing that came in the package and got both audio and video going. You need to change the audio settings from within System Preferences on your Mac to select your TV as the audio output.
My concern is the data latency - do you experience a delay between moving your mouse on the MBPro and the TV displaying the movement? It is only a fraction of a second, but certainly enough to be annoying, especially in a cable as expensive as the iWire.

  • Itunes icon and a USB cable is all that shows on my new Ipad.

I hooked it up to my PC, but it isn't recognized. The manual doesn't explain what to do. Isn't an Ipad supposed to be easy to use? It won't even come on :-(
something simple I'm sure - but what?

First, download and install the latest version of iTunes on your PC: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Then connect the cable directly to a computer USB port, not a USB hub.
Save a lot of time by downloading and reading the manuals: http://support.apple.com/manuals/ipad/

  • New IPad2,connected to my upgraded G4 10.5.8 via USB 2.0 PCI card, latest version of iTunes, signed in to mobil me acct and attempted to sync. Altho I waited nothing seemed to happen. Eventually changed to sync via cable and all is well.

Altho I checked "sync via mobil me", nothing ever happened. Tech support then advised unchecking that and syncing instead via computer/cable and iTunes
So, why not able to sync wirelessly with mobil me? Has anyone been able to?

    Thanks Mike.
Actually nothing seemed to be synced, altho I'm not sure whether I looked everywhere. In particular, no iTunes content was sent to the iPad, no Safari bookmarks, no Yahoo or Gmail contacts etc. Shouldn't some of this have been synced, or is it only content in Mobil Me, i.e my Apple Mail contacts etc?

  • HT4863 i have Cox cable and all of a sudden my Icloud account won't send messages, only receive.  Doesn't recognize my smtp address. Any suggestions on setting up the smtp address?

I have an Imacand Cox Cable. For some reason, recently, I cannot send email from my Icloud account, on;y receive. It says it is not connecting with my smtp.me.com account, but I haven't changed that from when it was working a few days ago. Any suggestions?

You should check that your settings (both directions) match this:
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
    Server name: imap.mail.me.com
    SSL Required: Yes
    Port: 993
Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
    Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
    SSL Required: Yes
    Port: 587
    SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    Password: Your iCloud password
Note: If you receive errors using SSL, try using TLS instead.
Your signature says you have 10.6.8 - is this correct? If you migrated from MobileMe using this your mail settings won't be correct and you will need to follow this procedure to re-enter them:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard

  • All audio works out of dock connector with Apple a/v cable, except for ipod audio.  I get no ipod audio.  Any ideas?

I have an iPhone 3gS (iOS 4.3.3) and an Apple AV cable.  This arrangement has worked in the past.  Now, I get NO iPod audio out of the dock connector/AV cable.  All other audio (movies/YouTube/etc.) works fine with the Apple AV cable...but, I get NO iPod audio.
Can anyone help me out with this issue?

I have tried videos from iTunes and my own conversions.
I managed to test my cables using a friends 30GB iPod and it worked just fine. I looked really good and I'm really looking forward to getting mine working.
It is definitely my iPod. Both the Apple AV Cable and the cheaper, longer Belkin AV iPod cable work fine with other iPods.
I will try firmware version 1.1.2 when I get home but I don't have high hopes. I will post the results for the silent masses yearning for an answer to the same problem.
Any tips on how to smoothly navigate Apple tech support and get my iPod fixed?

  • Adding second monitor to HP Beats Special Edition 23-n010xt All-in-One with HDMI Cable

Trying to add a second monitor to all-in-one using HDMI cable.  All-in-one is HP Beats Special 23-n010xt, second monitor is Samsung SyncMaster S24B300, Op Sys is Windows 8.1.  Both are connected with HDMI cable, but Windows is not detecting second monitor.  Have also tried a new cable, no success.  Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

Here are the specs for your HP Beats Special Edition 23-n010xt All-in-One CTO Desktop Computer. Based on the specs, this model doesn't have a video output of any kind. The HDMI port on the side is strictly an INPUT.
The HDMI input allows you to use your computer screen with a game console or video player. To connect your computer to an external display, you will need to purchase a USB-to-video adapter such as the EVGA UV Plus+ UV39 or many other adapters on the market.

  • Digivox USB all basic cable channels locked

I just bought a Digivox USB dongle and plugged it into my laptop. When I went through the channel scan, all of the basic cable channels I get when I plug that same cable into my cheap TV show up as "locked". When I look at the properties of the few channels it displays, only 3 or 4 of which correspond to the channel on my cable, they all say ATSC. This product claims to have a QAM tuner just like my cheap TV. So could someone please explain to me how to watch the same channels I get on that same cheap TV which has no set top box or anything?
    Thank you.

Thanks for responding, xmad. That is the piece of equipment. After one hour and 4 techs, Time Warner says there is nothing to "authorize" (the device does not have that capability). I finally understand the issue. I assumed that since it had a QAM tuner, it would pick up the channels on my TV which also had a QAM tuner. When I did not understand was that my TV also had an NTSC tuner which decodes the analog signals on my cable when it is plugged directly into the TV. Mostly my mistake. However, if anyone from MSI actually wanders through these forums and cares, it seems to me that simply including some information in your marketing, such as "this product won't display basic cable channels like your TV", it would keep people like me from having to return it and share my bad experience (even though I know you might want to try to blame me for not being a technical expert). Since no one here in this forum or at TWC immediately described the reason, I think it's safe to say I am not the only person slightly confused by all the technical crap. End of my two cents and maybe this will help someone else not make the same mistake.

  • Problem with apple mini dvi to video adapter cable

I recently bought an apple mini dvi to video adapter cable and all that it would display on my television screen was black and white colors. The quality of the screen seemed to be okay but it was hard to tell since i did not have any color. Is there something that i can do to fix this problem

Your probably not doing anything wrong. There are thousands of users with Similar issues and it seems to be with many different adapters.
We have Mini DP to VGA (3 different brands) and they all fail most of the time. This seems more prevalent with LCD Projectors. I've tested some (50+) with VGA Monitor (HP) and they all worked, LCD Projector (Epson, Hitachi, and Sanyo) and they all fail, DLP Projector (Sanyo) and one worked.
My Apple Mini DP to DVi works most of the time. My Mini DP to HDMI (Generic non Apple) works every time.
The general consensus is that Apple broke something in the OS around 10.6.4 or 10.6.5 and its not yet fixed. As we are a school we have logged a case with the EDU Support group so will see what happens.

  • Facebook: EA4500 - Network Cable Unplugged

I have a EA4500 and I'm having a really weird problem. When ever I connect a my router to my PC via Ethernet I get an error of "Network Cable Unplugged". The lights on the back don't even come on but for a slip second when I connect it. But I can also connect my network enabled printer into the same Ethernet ports and it works without a hitch. I have tried switching cables. All I have is Cat6 cables available. But the cable that is connect to my printer its a Cat5e... Is it possible that the router doesn't use Cat6? I mean that would be really odd.. Any help?

There are just few differences in using Cat5e and Cat6 cable. Both are gigabit cables which you can use for you to have gigabit connection on your network. The EA4500 is a gigabit router so the CAT6 cable should work. The network card of your computer, is it a gigabit card? Have you tried using the CAt5e cable to connect from your computer to the router? How about using the Cat6 cable from your printer to the router?

  • Installation Officejet 4335 all-in-one

Since my laptop crashed (Acer Aspire - Vista) I have bought a new one (hp 250 G3 – windows 7). And I therefore want to reinstall my Officejet 4335 all-in-one. I have reinstalled this printer many times on my old laptop using AIO_CDB_Full_Non-Network_enu_NB which I downloaded from your support site and have never had any problems with the installation.
This time the installation doesn’t work... chronicle of events
    Attached USB cable to printer/laptop
Got the usual “device is ready for use” notification
    Started installation software
    Got error message ...
    USB Drivers etc.
Checked to see if Printer visible to laptop – it is !!!
Just for devilment, tried to print something – it worked !!!
But still cannot continue installation because of USB error message
Tried cable on all three USB ports – installation software repeats error message
All USB ports work with various devices (including the printer cable to the all in one)
I need to complete the installation as I need the other functions – particularly scanning.
    All help appreciated.
    Regards

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @Dragonfish
I read your post about the issue you're having with installing your Officejet 4335 on your Windows 7 system.
There is most likely issues installing the printer, as it does not have a driver available for Windows 7, which also means there is no scanning software available either.
Check out the drivers available here: HP Officejet 4355 All-in-One Printer Drivers
The best bet you have would be to try the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the printing issue. If printing still does not work, I would suggest a printer upgrade.
    Good luck

  • Does Mac Mini's HDMI-to-DVI cable support analog DVI monitors?

The Apple website shows that the new (late 2012) Mac Mini comes with an HDMI-to-DVI adapter cable in the box :-)
The DVI video connector standard supports both analog and digital video signal modes, but not all models support both modes.
I have an old PC monitor with a DVI connector, which is probably analog only.  Will this work with the new (late 2012) Mac Mini?
In other words: does Apple's HDMI-to-DVI adapter cable support all DVI monitors, or only those with a digital input?
    Many thanks!
    - Martin

Your right about the DVI standard support both analogue and digital. The three types are
    DVI-A (analogue only)
    DVI-D (digital only)
    DVI-I (supports both)
In this case the HDMI to DVI adaptor will only support digital DVI. This is because the HDMI port only supports digital.
Generally monitors with a DVI port support digital DVI, if you compare the socket and pins layout on the monitor to the one on the Mac adaptor if they are the same layout then that should indicate the monitor indeed supports digital DVI.
Note: The maximum resolution supported by the Macs HDMI port is 1920x1200, if your monitor supports a higher resolution then you should get a Mini Displayport to DVI adaptor or if needed a Mini Displayport to Dual Link DVI adaptor (for the highest resolutions).

  • Mini dvi adapter and long cables. Weak signal?

Hi. I'm having a big problem with my Macbook and a projector (a cinema theatre projector to be more accurate). The projector stays 10m away from the computer. The screen flickers all the time, and colors doesn't appear right. I already spent so much money on this. So this is my setup:
Macbook (i3, 2013) > mini-dvi to hdmi adapter (not from Apple) > 10 meters hdmi cable > hdmi to dvi-d adaptor.
    What I've tried so far:
3 other mini-dvi adapters. None of them are from Apple (I know, that may be the problem). DIDNT WORK
Shorter cables. It got better. No more flickering. But still a lot of color distortion. DIDNT WORK
Windows computer. Was still flickering. DIDNT WORK
Windows computer with a smaller cable. WORKED
Different longer cables. All of them gave me the same flickering. DIDNT WORK
TV (instead of a projector) with a small cable and the same adapter: WORKED
BLURAY + long cable + TV: WORKED
Different hdmi to dvi adapter: DIDNT WORK
I'm really stressed out with all of these. The last theory I have is that the non original mini-dvi adaptor has not enough signal for a long hdmi cable. Anyone knows anything about it?

    Update:
The same macbook, the same adapters and the same 10m cable connected on a TV. WORKED!
Now this is really strange. Is there any chance that the cinema projector will need more signal strength than a normal TV would?
