  • HT200196 iCal reminders are clogging up my computers, iPads and iPhone.  When I view the Calendar list in iCal, it seems it has added a new calendar every time an event is added.  I have a calendar list that has grown to over 100.  How do I remedy this?

My laptop, iPad, and iPhone are being clogged by repeated iCal alerts.  Every time an event is added, it seems another Calendar is also added.  When I view the Calendar list in iCal, there are over 100...and the number is growing.  They can not be deleted with a simple "Select all" or "Delete All" and, when deleted individually, the list quickly grows to huge numbers again rapidly.  How do I keep this from happening and eliminate the excessive number of calendars?

  • Losing Calendar list in iCal

I recently starting losing my calendar list in iCal [on the left of the screen]. Initially I lose my entire calendar but after trashing the prefs file of iCal, I will get the activities to return however the Calendar list is still missing. I utilize Missing Sync for my palm but cannot ascertain if this is part of the issue or not
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Tried all the other threads regarding this and no joy. Found an old friend on iChat and he led me to this.
    ~/library/application support/ical
move the ical folder to the desk top and rename it e.g. old ical just so ical can't find it.
Restart iCal and it should (if mine is anything to go by) re sync with .mac if you use it.
    Good luck.
Edit: If it works then trash the old ical folder you moved, if it doesn't rename it ical and put it back in app support.

  • ICal and calendar lists in calendar view

The calendar lists no longer appear in the calendar view of iCal. I was having a problem so deleted ical from the macbook, then did a complete reinstall with an archive and save old settings, THEN updated all the software, THEN deleted the user account that does not show the calendar lists. THEN went to the admin account which has iCal working well with all views and did a reset of my .mac info so that it was/should be just as the correct one was. THEN set up another user account and reloaded the data on inital sync to overwrite data in the new user account. I thought that all these steps should have my calendar lists back BUT not so! Interestingly when i make the calendar list window smaller the scroll bar appears. Any assistance with this will be appreciated

There is now a new app doing exactly that. ReplyAll app is a new iPhone app which allows to reply to all attendees of a calendar events or forward it to a new invitee as well as replying by SMS to the event organizer. It was created mainly for users who use their iPhone to manage their events. The app was build based on iOS 7 Look and Feel.https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/replyall/id749454893

  • ICal calendar list is empty and all events are gone

My iCal calendar list shows up empty and all my calendar events are gone as well. I read posts with a similar issue where the list of calendars disappeared yet the events remained. In this case, everything is missing.
I tried deleting the ical plist file but it did not help.
    Has anyone else seen this?

    i deleted everything under
    ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook
and started over to fix it

  • ICal Calendars list blank, MissingSync, MobileMe issues

I'm using OS X 10.4.11 and iCal 2.0.5. I recently installed Missing Sync 6.0.4 for Palm OS (to sync with a Palm TX), so am finally actually using iCal instead of the Palm calendar. I also just got around to resubscribing to .mac (without realizing that I was doing so smack in the midst of the MobileMe launch). I'm listing all three of these questions together in case there's some connection -- most likely something connected to MissingSync or MobileMe setup.
    1. iCal was working fine for me, synched with the Palm via Missing Sync, etc., but now I can't see the list of calendars. I can see events in the calendar itself, color-coded for different calendars, but nothing shows up in the calendars list (left-hand pane). Any ideas how to get that list back?
And two other questions, in case anyone here has answers:
    2. Sent this query to Mark/Space (MissingSync) a couple days ago, but no reply yet -- when I sync Palm and iCal, events entered on the Palm do not get copied to the laptop. No error messages, and all else goes fine ... Events conduit is set for "Synchronize," "All calendars," and to put read-only events in "Unfiled."
    3. Sent this query twice to Mac's MobileMe help, but have gotten only a completely unhelpful form letter with generic links back ... (Yes, I realize their support people are probably utterly bogged down right now.) I used to have .Mac, but expired 1/07. Now have a .Me account. I can't sync at all, even just to my iDisk (let alone with my other Mac) -- .Mac in System Preferences won't let me set up Sync (when I click that tab, it "thinks" for a while, then get a "problem with the sync operation: .Mac login failed" error message). Specifically re: iCal: is there some workaround? Some painless way to sync iCal events to iDisk without a functioning Sync feature? I'm hoping the sync failure is just a temporary glitch, and not a sign that I need to upgrade to Tiger if I want basic .Mac-level functionality, but main thing is just being able to view/use my iCal calendars from my work computer!

Installation continues to degrade. On startup of the application, all buttons and controls are missing.
Closing and restarting iCal causes the buttons and controls to return, but all calendar entries are missing.
Restarting the computer causes the sequence to start again - controls are missing, restarting the app brings them back but then calendar entries are useless.
    Totally useless.

  • ICal not showing calendar list, crashing frequently

I just upgraded from Snow Leopard to 10.7.2 a few days ago and I've found iCal to be extremely buggy.  In addition to frequent crashes, I am unable to see my calendars in the Calendars list.  Here's what I get when I click on it:
Is anyone else experiencing this?  I feel like I need to reinstall the app, but can I do that without having to reinstall the entire system?

Gunnar - did you solve this problem.  Having similar issues and have not been able to find a solution.

  • How can I change the order of iCal calendars listed ON MY MAC?

After upgrading to Lion the order of calendars listed on the left in iCal changed from my previous choice. I cannot modify the order by dragging a calendar to a different position in the list. I shall appreciate any suggestion to be able to have the list reordered.

Subscribe to a podcast. By default the episodes will be listed in reverse order, newest on top. In the column header for 'Release date' click the arrow so that it points upwards:
The order will now be oldest on top.
Create a playlist: select all the episodes you want to be in it in the podcast list and drag them to the playlist (enable the sidebar if necessary to make all this easier, command-option-s). They will appear in correct order and play continuously.

  • ICal calendar list empty but events still visible

So here's the problem. I open iCal last night, and my calendar list is empty. Also, when I open iCal there are no events visible until I change views (say from week to month or month to day). The same is true of my tasks. Even after changing views, though, my calendar list is still empty. The only change I've made in the last day or two is to have iCal sync my calendars with .Mac.
    I'm running 10.4.3 on a 17 inch Powerbook G4 1GHz with 1GB RAM. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

    ellisjs,
I'm having the same problems that you describe. There is another thread in the forums that discuss the same issues. One user, Norm, Gilbert, offers a solution that has worked for him.
"If I remember the steps, they involved removing the following items in the user library:
    ~\library\preferences\com.apple.iCal.AlarmScheduler.plist
    ~\library\preferences\com.apple.iCal.helper.plist
    ~\library\preferences\com.apple.iCal.plist
and then deleting the .plist files from here:
    ~\library\application suport\iCal
and then moving the Sources folder from here to the Desktop:
    ~\library\application suport\iCal
Then a restarted my Mac and lunched iCal. Everything worked as expected and has continued to work properly even after adding events, re-starting and doing a sync with Mark Space Missing Sync.
Knock on wood, it keeps working."
After following his steps it works until I launch iCal again. It varies from now showing my calendars to not showing my To Do's. I have not seen any fixes that work yet, but will continue to monitor this thread for any solutions. It appears to be a 10.4.3 issue from I have seen so far.

  • On iPhone 5, cannot get iCal calendar List to appear

    iPhone 5: IOS 7.1
Since installing the latest 7.1, found that when I open iCal, and click on the search icon at the top right of the window, the keyboard comes up but with the month showing. On top of the month is a gray transparent overlay. The List will not appear. When I type an "L" on the keyboard, only a few of the listings appear. There is nothing I can do to get my entire list to appear.  I have pressed the Home and OFF/ON button to reboot the iPhone with no success.  Any suggestions?

  • How do you add a reminder to a shared list in iCal

I'm trying to add a reminder to a shared list in iCal, but I do not see the list as an option in the "Get Info" window or in the "Calendar" menu list. This shared list was shared with me in iCloud, and if I log into iCloud.com, I can add the item there. I think I can also add via my phone, but I'm not sure. Also, I can see items in the shared list, and I can check them off. I just can't add.
I don't know if this is an iCloud issue, but I am able to add items in iCal to a shared list *I* created, just not to one that my wife created. Is there some setting in iCal to enable this?

It is not easy to see and I found it by messing around. First of all put them in daye order by dragging the screen down and touching the little alarm clock at the top.  Then touch the space below the earlies reminder and a new one comes up. It defaults to 'today' so you have to touch the new reminder and then touch the 'i' button that appears. You can then change the date and time etc. No easy.
I dont understand why Apple do these thongs before updating the user guide!
    Hope this helps.

  • Calendar List and Day View

iCal in my iPad is actually more workable and readable than on my 27inch Mac now - ha ha - how crazy is that !!!
iPad has word wrapping in Day view so I can see all the details (in the Mac / Lion there is no wrapping grrrrr)
iPad I can touch an appointment in the calendar and get all the details pop up - in Mac/Lion all my calendars overlap and cover each other and even when I click an event it is still unreadable...
In Day view I cant see my calendar list until I click on the button to open the list of calendars - then I cant see my list of events.
We should be able to CHOOSE what we want to see.
In Day view - with the List on the left - I cant see all details of my events. With all the calendars open, they all overlap each other on the right and I cant see all the details there either - EVEN if I click the event, its still unable to be read.
If the LIST on the left had Wrapping, it would be awesome, so I could read all the details of my events in the list.
As soon as anyone knows how to sort any of these issues out, I will be MOST happy.
I wish I could go back to the old version of iCal which was perfect for me - this one makes life SOOOOO difficult. I have worked with it for 3 days and the limitations - I always used my iPad, iPhone and iMac - but the Mac calendar is now useless to me and I am having to use the iPad solely till it gets sorted out.....hopefully asap...?

It looks like I have found a solution - it is to do with the birthday dates - if you delete the year of any pre-1932 birthdays it solves the problem!

  • Can I see my to do`s list from ical on the iphone?

I use iwork 08 and I allready have a to do list on my ical, but in my iphone after sync I only see my calendar, contacts, etc. but not my to do list. How can i see it?

I use a combination of Toodledo.com (a free online To Do manager, though I upgraded to their $15/yr "Pro" service) and an app for the iPhone called "Todo" (oddly enough) by Appigo. This iPhone app syncs perfectly back and forth to Toodledo.com and of course you can manage your to do list via Safari on your Mac or any browser from anywhere (like Internet Explorer at work, airport, etc). It costs $9.99 from the iTunes store, but its well worth it. Less structured than OmniFocus (which is overkill for me) and works via the web so I can access my data from anywhere on any device.
Also, through Toodledo.com you can subscribe to a shared iCal calendar that contains your To Do list - so, while you can't edit through iCal (must edit on the web at toodledo.com or on your iPhone via Todo or the toodledo.com iPhone-specific webpage), you can SEE your to do list on the side pane of iCal.
Works very well, actually. At the least I can see my to do list when iCal is open, and the web app is very easy to use. And Appigo's iPhone app Todo is very well written and has a great interface. There is also a Dashboard widget you can download that lets you manage your to do list.
And Appigo also has an app called Notebook which also syncs notes back and forth to Toodledo.com ($4.99 I believe from iTunes).
(I have no relationship with Appigo, but I did buy both of these app and I think they're well worth the price).

  • No To Do list from iCal?!!

Just bought an iPod Touch on Friday. Everything seemed to be syncing fine until I put some things in my To-Do list in iCal for this week. The Events showed up fine (i.e. a 9:30 am appointment)- on the Touch, but not the To-Do list. I just spent an hour on the phone with customer support, only to be told that the To-Do list shows up on the older iPods, but not the Touch or the iPhone. What?! My 5 year old Sony Clie synced more completely than my Touch!
I am hoping that I was just talking to someone who was incorrect. I cannot believe that Apple would strip out a huge chunk of functionality from the calendar and still market it as native and complete iCal. Hence the post here -- have any of you gotten your To-Do list to show up on the Touch?
    Thanks in advance!

No, the tech was correct - the To-Do list does not transfer to the IPT. Many people feel that it should, but no one on these user-to-user forums can implement that. (As an aside, RE: +"market it as native and complete iCal"+, they don't, at least not that I've seen - and the IPT app is called "Calendar", not iCal.)
I'd encourage you to submit feedback to Apple requesting this feature (they won't "hear" your feedback in these forums):

  • Calendar List view shows entries under the wrong date

I just upgraded to iOS4 and finding that my calendar entries are appearing under the wrong date in the calendar list view when I am viewing two calendars.
    - List view is ok when viewing 1 calendar
    - Day and Month views are ok at all times (ie: viewing single or multiple calendars)
    - I have 2 Exchange accounts
    - Calendar entries are appearing in the correct order, but under the incorrect date heading.
    - When I intially added the Exchange accounts the calendar list view was fine at first (I could see both calendars correctly in list view) but after a short time later it became screwed up.
    Anyone else experience this?

Same problem here since my upgrade to iOS4 - but I only noticed today.
I have 3 calendars set up:
    Gmail (Exchange)
    UK Holidays (iCal)
    Birthdays
The exchange calendar is always wrong but the other two are correct when my exchange calendar is switched off.
It has mucked up my scheduling a bit for the next month. I only became suspicious when I noticed the Scottish Bank Holiday Monday at the beginning of August was showing on FRIDAY, 30th of July!
