No Call or Contact Info on my Text Messaging screen

Ihave an iPhone 3G - but I don't have the Call or Contact Info button available on my text messages screen. It is infuriating to receive a text from someone not in my contacts list and (a) I can't call them and (b) I can't add them to my contacts as I don't have either of these options displaying on my screen within Text Messages. My friend has the same model of phone and does have these options available. I cannot find where to amend the settings. Please help.

Actually have found the buttons right at the top of all the message stream for each text.

Yes, open the conversation, scroll to the top and tap "Add Contact", then "Create New Contact".

IOS5 displaying phone number instead of name in text message screen

At the top of the text message screen, where it used to say the recipient's name, it now says their phone number. I cannot find any settings as to change this. It happens to others who have iMessage on. If they do not have an iPhone, or their iMessage is off, it still says their name.

I fixed this problem by:
1. Turn iMessage off
2. Turn iMessage on
3. Verify contact is in contact list
4. Deleting the text message series prior to the one you want to send. Say you've texed Bob Dole 1000 times, delete the entire thread. Then, hit new message, load Bob Dole from contacts, and send.
For me, this ended the above problem.

That's weird that these iphones are restored/activated through iTunes. I have a Apple so I have iTunes, yay!! I am guessing that the link that you gave me will tell how to put this iphone into Recovery mode? Now, this old iphone would of been activated on his laptop, which is with him and he is out of state. I have a new Apple, his new iphone would of been activated on our new Apple computer because he was here for Christmas and he didn't bring his laptop with him, or did he bring it with him, I don't remember now.... Now the question is, will I be able to restore his old iphone on my new computer seeing it would of activated on his laptop which is with him out of state. I am so worried that I am going to lock up this phone now. I thought I deleted the orginal guestion, and rewrote it, good grief, lol Oh wow, you are a level 10, I would be at a level -10!

Why aren't my contacts showing up in text messages or the call list?

I sync my iphone only with my exchange contacts. It was workng fine until yesterday. My contacts list show up in the contacts app with the correct names, but the text messages and missed calls/voicemail list only shows numbers... not showing contact name. What can I do?

I am having the same issue and it all started after the update I downloaded last night. I have tried calling *288 VRZ support option and afterwars performed a soft boot with no fix. The +1 for USA option is not one I can even imagine doing with over 2000 contacts... There has got to be an easier solution...???

needs help my phone has suddenly stopped recieving calls and recieving text messages, i last used it it at 3.30 and at 4.30 it wasnt working can any1 help with this to resolve this. i have network coverage nd signal nd i can dial *#1345# and that works and also if i dial *#147# that also works. Have you tried a battery pull yet? Can you contact your carrier from a different phone to see if they can assist?

Only one of my contacts cannot receive my text messages, why?

For the past week, my boyfriend has not been able to receive any of my text messages. He has a samsung s3 and I have an iPhone 4s. We both can call each other and my texts to him say that they are sent. I have called both my provider and Apple and the issue still hasn't been resolved. He also has an iPad which we iMessage off of sometimes, not sure if this has anything to do with it or not. This really is frustrating since it is only one contact, and both my provider and Apple also thought this was a weird situation...

When looking at your messages that you send him, are they green or blue? Green will mean that it is a SMS that is done by your carrier and if it blue then it is using iMessage service to send the message and they would be going to the iPad even if it does not have access to the internet. He may want to unlink his phone number to it and just use iMessage just through his email address.

Since upgrading to IOS7 my ipad will not show contact info for messages. On my iphone the upgrade works fine.

Hi, In such case, try to check the things below:
1> Make sure all contacts are stored in unique memory : sim or phone memory (recommend phone memory)
2> Try to avoid 1 contacts has few numbers and other case, similar or same names for fews contacts
3> Add your country code into the normal number format, eg: 0123455678 --> saved as +60 12345678 (+60 is the country code for MY)
4> Check the settings under Contacts folder: Contacts > Settings > Contact view or Display contacts > try to change Last name/ First name view option one by one

Two tables of contact persons while typing text message.

when I want to type a text message and when I try to type the name of the contact person. The blackberry shows the possibilities twice. So I see two tables of contact persons but just one is a workable table. The other stays as a kind of background. It will only disappear if I scroll with the trackpad over the table.
Is this a known problem and is there a solution?

Yes, the speaker is on the bottom (where you plug it in to charge - that's between two things, one is the speaker, one is the mic, just like another user said -- just thought I'd clarify that it is near where you plug it in to charge/sync).
I noticed something odd with my sound once, too. The normal "click" sounds (when turning it on/off or sleep/wake) changed to a different pitch. Not a problem, just kinda bothersome that it happened out of nowhere. I can't remember whether I simply powered it completely off and then back on or if I did the reset (hold home button and power button at same time, ignore the prompt to "slide to turn off" until it shuts off & you get the apple), but which ever I did, that fixed it. Have you tried either of those yet? If not, try the simple power off then back on, and try the reset if that doesn't help.

Caller ID - does it work with text messages?

tried to call a number in malaysia, the callerID doesn't show up. perhaps it varies from country to country
however, what I really want to know is, does caller ID work with text messages? I send SMS Thru skype, and the receiver will see the caller ID ?

I unfortunately have not found anything out. I also have since purchased a 2011 Nissan Murano and still have the Rogue. From time to time in the Rogue the caller ID works, but it paired ok after several tries with my Murano and the caller ID seems to work, but I dont drive that vehicle daily its my husbands. I wish Apple would do something to fix this bluetooth issue everyone else I know with a Nissan and bluetooth does not have this issue its totally something to with Apple. My Murano does not have Nav its only an SL. Good luck!

As always seems to happen, the next thing you try ends up working. Well almost. I
Deleted the contact and sent a message from that phone to mine -- problem persisted
Deleted the person from my FAVORITES in the phone app (the entry still existed even though the contact had been deleted). This worked!!!
It's kind of weird that the favorites in the phone app were somehow affecting notifications in Messages for a contact that had been deleted, but there you are.
