No camera button on the lock screen

I watched the Apple event where they described all the functions of the iPhone4S and one of the things they said it had, a camera icon on the lock
screen, is not on my phone. Is something wrong with my phone or do others see this as well?

Nevermind I just found the answer in another thread. You have to double tap the home button on the lock screen and it comes up.

I was eagerly anticipating the arrival of the new iOS 5 but after several hours updating my phone there is no camera icon on the lock screen as advertised.  Where is it?

Double click on the 'home' button and it appears.

  • Camera button on the lock screen missing

I've successfully updated to IOs5, but I'm missing the camerca button on the lock screen. I have a 4.  Anyone else?

same exact thing happened to me!
but it's not on the basic home screen, it appears when you double click the home button while on the lock screen.

  • Where is the camera button on the lock screen?

That was the big point of the camera beyond increased megapixels.

If you double-click the home button while on the lock screen it pops up on the bottom right-hand side.

  • IPhone 4S-where is the new camera "button" on the lock screen

I am sure I saw a feature on the new iPhone before it came out, with a icon you could touch while the camera was still locked so you could quickly take a photo without having to go through the unlocking step.   Well, I just got the new iPhone and sure don't see it.
    Did I imagine this?

    It is in the manual:

  • I recently updated my iPhone's 3GS software to iOS 5.1...Is there any way to remove the camera button from the lock screen?

    Heeelp?!...

I did just that, good idea.
I stated in my feedback message that I feel it disturbing that someone handling my iPhone, but not having the passcode, can take photos with my phone.  Photos of --<sigh>--Lord knows what.  While the phone's usually in my pocket or otherwise close to my person, that's not always the case.
Now, I'll grant that it is nice to have the option to allow someone to take a photo with my phone without also giving them access to everything else.  In fact, that's a very nice little tidbit.  I'd just like to have the flexibility to prevent people from taking pics with my phone, should they happen to have it in hand and feel the urge to add to my camera roll even without my approval.  There's real opportunity for mischief in this.

  • Camera button not on lock screen

One of the features I was excited about was the camera button on the lock screen.  It appears everyonce in awhile on my iPhone 4 but usually it is not available.  Am I missing something?  Is there a setting I need to change?
    Thanks,
    JD

When in lock, double click the home button and the camera button appears.

  • Usability of Camera Icon at the Lock Screen

My question is on the usability of the Camera Icon on the Lock Screen.I have seen difference in the behaviour of basic lock functionality in iphone 4 with ios 5.01. & ios 5.1. Below mentioned are the details :
Case 1-> User is using Iphone 4 with ios 5.0.1
Pre-conditions -> Phone is locked with Passcode Lock as Off.
    1) User double clicks on the Home button.
    2) Camera Icon is displayed on the bottom right hand side adjacent to the unlock slider.
    3) User clicks on the Camera Icon.
    4) Camera Application Opens.
    5) The square box on the bottom left hand side of the screen is displayed as black. This square box normally displays the last clicked snap.
    6) User clicks on the Square box.
Result -> Iphone displays a page with a message saying " Your iPhone is locked.Unlock your iPhone to see all your photos and videos." A blue color camera icon is also present on the bottom left hand side.
This functionality seems to work as per the expectations.
Case 2 -> User is using Iphone 4 with ios 5.1
Pre-conditions -> Phone is locked with Passcode Lock as Off.
    1) User clicks on the Home button.
    2) Camera Icon is displayed on the bottom right hand side adjacent to the unlock slider.
    3) User slides the camera icon to the top.
    4) Camera Application Opens.
    5) The square box on the bottom left hand side of the screen is present and is currrently displaying the last clicked snap.
    6) User clicks on the Square box.
Result -> Iphone displays all the photos and videos to the User.
This functionality is providing the user access to all the photos and videos without unlocking the iPhone.
However, i also tried the Case2 with Passcode Lock as ON.With this setting, Iphone is behaving as Case1 i.e. User is not able to view the Photos and videos in Locked Mode.
As a user i would like the iPhone to behave in a sycnhronized way no matter how the user is locking the iPhone.
Kindly try to replicate this behaviour and provide your comments/suggestions.

How do you get rid of the camera feature on the lock screen?
You don't, unless you disable the Camera app entirely.
    It's such a nuisance...
    Really, how so?
I don't want people going into my photos or my iphone!!
If you add a passcode to your iPhone as you should, then there's no way they can see anything in your iPhone.  Of course, if the passcode is set but not enough time has elapsed that's different -- but that has nothing to do with this icon.

  • Does the camera app on the lock screen only work for iphone?

    i downlaoded ios5.
it says that it has a camera app that you can put on the lock screen. is that only for iphone?

    I don't think so.
Try double-pressing the Home button at the lock screen to make it appear.

Probably because you haven't double-clicked the home button.

  • I have installed IOS5 on my iPhone. There is supposed to be a camera icon on the lock screen giving the ability to take a photo without unlocking the phone. That camera icon does not appear. Help, please.

I have installed IOS5 on my iPhone. There is supposed to be a camera icon/button on the lock screen that enables you to take photos without unlocking the camera. That icon/button does not appear. Do I need to configure something to get the icon to appear?

Double click your home button when the phone is locked. The camera icon will show up then.

  • How do I turn off the Camera access from the lock screen

how do I turn off the Camera access from the lock screen ?

Only by hiding the camera via Restrictions. Settings>General>Restrictions. That hides the camera when unlocked unless you go to Restrictions  and unset that Restriction. That is not way currently from just preventing camera access only from the lock screen
