No camera connected!!!

Hi,
I have an old powerbook G4 with no Isight or other built in. I bought a Webcam "Lili" made by "united pepper". It runs with the "Webcam Monitor" application that comes with the camera. However neither Ichat nor Skype recognise it. They both give me the message that "no camera is connected".
I have tried to start the camera first, after, with & without the program that comes with it. I tried everything that was suggested in the Skype forum. The builders confirmed to me that the camera is compatible with Mac & skype... and I can see that it works, but once I'm on one of the "chat" application it doesnt see it when it obviously is connected and running.
So what do I do? I already updated everything so we can just skip this part...
sorry if this message comes a bit off but it took me about 45min just to be able to post this on the forum and I really hate Apple when there's a problem.. 'cause they are never their to help!!!
so please help me... I'm about to through my computer out of the window...

This Utility/iChat add-on allows some USB cameras to work with iChat providing they have Mac Drivers.
As you have a Video Pic it suggests a Driver is present.
This will only work for iChat (It effectively converts the signal into one iChat can use)
Skype on the whole uses a different process and video codes and does not require the Utility or an equivalent.
If you have not restarted your computer since the Install try that.

Can I only use my USB camer connective kit with my camera and not a card reader?

Which card reader? Are you using an SD card in it or some other form factor?
As long as you're targeting an SD card with photos or movies, it should work same as connecting to a camera....but in that case, there is really no need since the camera kit includes an SD reader.

Once pictures are moved from your camera to your iPad (using the camera connection kit), how do you get the photos off of the iPad? They do not show up in my photo stream or my iCloud. I am able to see any photo I took on the iPad using the iPad camera (in iTunes, photo stream, or when I open windows explorer and browse the iPad director), however I cannot see any photos transfered from my camera to the iPad. The camera connection kit must have put my photos in a directory I cannot get to and cannot sync.

  • I don't have a wireless printer, and want to print things off of my iPad.  I know that I can use the iPad Camera Connection kit to connect USB devices like keyboards and I am wondering if I could do the same with a USB printer.

I don't think you can connect a printer since you won't have the printer drivers. I use FingerPrint from collobos.com to print to my non-AirPrint printers.

  • HT4106 I have a camera connection kit for my ipad 2. Can this kit be used with my new ipad air?... If so what adapter is required please

Camera connection kit for ipad 2. Can this kit be used with ipad air and if so what adapter(s) are required please

You can try the 30 pin to lightning adapter but I'm not sure if that'll work. So if you get it to experiment, make sure you can return it. Apple does sell a SD to lightning adapter for the newer devices. So that should be a sure bet. The main downside is that your 30 pin camera kit came with both USB and SD for 29 and now the USB adapter is 19 and the SD adapter 29, so more expensive.
You may want to look into third party adapters, but make sure you use a reputable manufacturer (ie not a cheap no-name off amazon) because iOS7 brought with it software that looks for a signed chip in the adapter. And a chip is 'signed' when a company gets apple's permission to make accessories. I would suggest sticking with companies like Belkin, Kensington and Targus. They seem to be of a better reputation when making things and would have a signed chip.

  • Is there some way to make the iPad Camera Connection Kit work on the iPod touch?

I bought the Camera Connection Kit because a tech said it would work with my iPod Touch, but I get the message that the iPod does not support that connection. I would really like itt to work because I have used an older iPod to back up photos while on vacation. I would simply connect the camera up to the iPod and it would download all the photos from the camera. It was an excellent way not to have to buy lots of SD cards. This kit has a slot for an SD card and I could copy directly from that. So if anyone out there knows how I could make it work, I'd appreciate your input.

Is your MacBook Pro new?  Did it come with Lion preinstalled?  If not do you have the iDVD application in the Applications folder?
If not I suggest you purchase a copy of the iLife 11 disk from Amazon.com or eBay.com or other 3rd party supplier.  Apple does not sell iDVD any more and those items are getting harder to get.
Once you obtain iDVD go to iPhoto and bring up the slideshow.  Then use the Share ➙ iDVD menu option. That will send the slideshow to iDVD from which you can burn a video DVD disk.
I suggest you follow this workflow while working in iDVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

Since updating my iPad  devices  (iPad 1,2 and iPad) with the latest iOS, I can no longer use the camera connection kit to load photos directly into my camera roll. Anybody have any ideas on remedying this problem?

  • Why does Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit no longer work with iOS8

Why does Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit no longer work with iOS8?

The kit is firmly inserted in thhe iPad's dock ? You could also try a reset and see if it's recognised after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
I haven't had problems using the kit with SD cards from Canon cameras . What capacity is the card, and it's an SD or SDHC card - if it's an SDXC card that's formatted as ExFAT then it won't be recognised

  • IPad camera connection kit is working on ios 6.1.3 or no?

    Hello everyone,
I'm trying to find an answer to this question
Is iPad camera connection kit working on the new update iOS 6.1.3?
I need to know this kinda urgent now, because my iPad has been acting really weird, but I hadn't update yet, because I'm scared my camera connection kit won't work anymore, and I need it alot because I work with cameras.
Anyone who already update and the camera connection kit still working? Please
I have an iPad 2 currently iOS 6
    Have a great day!

Works on my iPad 2 also. I transfer pics/videos using an SDHC card and also using a USB flash drive.
To use a flash drive, Plug the  flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Third Party 2 in 1 Camera Connection Kit and iOS 4.2

Has anyone tried the third party 2 in 1 Camera Connection Kit with iOS 4.2? This is the connector that has both the SD slot as well as the USB slot in one unit, rather than the two separate units on the Apple branded one. The third party one is cheaper and 1 less thing to carry around or potentially lose.
    Thanks!

Be sure to check more than one camera app (both connected apps like iChat or Skype and non-internet-connected like Photo Booth) in more than one user account.

  • Camera connection kit doesn't work...help

I bought the camera connection kit and tried using 2 different SD cards to load my pictures onto my ipad and nothing happens when i plug it in. the USB piece works fine when i hook it up to my other camera but why can't i get the memory card piece to work? any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks!

Hi Kathie and welcome to the Apple Discussions.
How are your SD cards formatted? If memory serves, the iPad wants to see the cards in DCIM. Since the USB to camera is working, it sounds like the format of the SD cards is not what the iPad wants to see. What kind of camer are you using, and if you look at the card on a computer, what does it show you...what is the name or label of the top level folder?

  • Camera Connection questions...

I have a couple questions about the iPad Camera Connection that I have not been able to find answers for on the forum:
    1. Does the Photo app recognise already imported images if you leave images on your camera after importing and want to import newly shot ones? or does it import them all again?
    2. I use a Canon 5D Mk2 - I've read that the iPad cannot play the movies, however does it still import them from the camera and then allow you to transfer them to your laptop later?
    thanks!

For your first question, the answer is no. It will ask if you want to import an old (already imported) image just like it asks for a new image. At least that is how it works with my ipad.

I am trying to connect my Sony DCR-TRV350 to iMovie so that I can make DVD's from family videos.  I am having problems getting the video camera connected.  Any advice on how to do this?

What happens when, after you connect your cam, you go to File > Import Media?
But before that, does your cam require you to export your video files upon USB connection? I have a JVC Everio HD and I have to "Export to Library" from the cam's menu first-thing. This was true even in prior iMovie versions.

  • SD card import faulty - Camera Connection Kit

I am travelling around and the camera connection kit has been working well for importing pics from my SD cards. However one day the import warned me I was importing 1gb of pics, but only had 0.7gb free on the iPad. It asked me whether to import until the iPad was full, so I said yes.
Since then I deleted some movies I had on the iPad, so I now have lots of free space. Now most photos are imported showing just a "jpg" logo and the photo cannot be opened. This happens on any SD card I put in the iPad. I wonder if perhaps the iPad needs some sort of disk utility or scandisk to be run, but I can't find such a utility.

I tried powering down several times. I have also done the reset you suggested. Unfortunately the problem remains.
As I am travelling, I am not in a position to do a sync. Both the iPad's "About" and an iPad info app I have report 7.5gb free.
I wonder if there is a utility that can truly free the space (assuming that is the problem)?
