No Carrier on GSM 1900 ???

Just got my 6131 Quad Band phone, brand new put my SIM card in it, the pone boots up fine without glitches, but does not see the sginal or detect operator networks, I am in Canada the GSM here is 1900, I had my older nokia 6610 working like charm without problems, what could be the issue? I called Nokia Canada but they said we don't support this model!

Hmm.. your phone should work coz it covers the frequency there..
Try pressing the "#" and then call..
Your phone should be requesting a signal from your network..
Try also using other SIM card (Other Networks' SIM card also).. If this doesn't work, your phone has a problem..
" Your Nokia Handset operates on GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz frequencies. Canadian GSM carriers offer network service in the 850 and 1900 MHz bands. This means that your handset will operate on the 1900 MHz bands of the Canadian networks. Users may find that network coverage may not be as comprehensive in areas that also use 850 MHz band networks, such as in more sub-urban or outlying areas. Other users will not experience any difference in their service. For example, the handset will operate on all of Fido’s network as it operates entirely in the 1900 MHz band. "
Hope this article from Nokia helps..
Your phone's cool and new!
cheers.

  • IPad 4th (4G): Which one of providers (carriers) is supported GSM for worldwide?

Hello everybody, and i hope you are fine all time.
I would to buy iPad 4G (with Retina Display) Wi-Fi+Cellular
but i don't know what is the compatible cellular provider (GSM) for countries of
worldwide, so which one of providers (carriers) is supported GSM for worldwide?
    AT&T - Sprint - VERSION
and thank you so much for helping me.
    My greetings

Thanks for your reply, Mr. BobTheFisherman
but one of my friends told me: not all of U.S carriers supported GSM
for all countries, and he recommended AT&A, because it supports same GSM model that
in communication providers in Saudi Arabia.
so, please, are you sure of your information?, in order to not buying iPad 4th not
compatible with our providers, by the way, i don't mean 4G data, i mean GSM, generally.
    Thank you again

  • No audio hear by 3rd party using carrier after upgrade ios5.1.1

after i used iCloud upgrade the iOS5.1.1 and I found my iPhone4 got issues on carrier whereby 3rd party unable to hear me at all although I have done all the below before I restore my backup data.
Reset all data and all setting
    manually restore iOS5.1.1
    reset all network setting
I also tried to change my sim card from telco company and even we tested to place my sim card on other iPhone4 and proven it is working. Vice versa, we tested to use my friend's sim card on my iPhone and same issues occurred whereby 3rd party can't hear my voice but I can clearly hear them.
Lastly, I've tested the app of skype and viber to make video call or call, it is working fine but it is not working when I use the carrier call (GSM) to 3rd party.
I suspect it is iOS5.1.1 issues rather than hardware issues because tested the mice of my iPhone is working perfectly by using the talking toy app.
Pls. advise who can help me?

uncheck the "Wait for Far End" option. Also, check and see what codec is coming across on the local AND Remote phone (if possible...I know the remote is a station on the key system, so I don't exactly know how to check that unit...) and see if it is actually coming across as a G711 and NOT a G729, which needs a transcoder, as you know...
I ran into this problem and did some manipulation with IOS transcoders through the call legs to get it to process correctly.

  • Can I use a CDMA (VZ) iPhone 6 with a GSM SIM card outside the US?

I'm planning on purchasing my first iPhone--a 6. I'm debating between Verizon (VZ) and AT&T and understand that VZ uses CDMA and AT&T uses GSM. I'm hoping to have a phone which I could use a local wireless carrier's GSM SIM card outside the US if I'm traveling. I've done this with unlocked GSM phones in the past and would like that option in the future--but I'm wondering if I were to get a VZ (CDMA) phone if that'd be possible? Likewise, if one's outside the US do you have to use an unlocked phone for a local wireless carriers's GSM SIM to work?
Thanks in advance for your response!

    That is correct.
AT&T will unlock a device under the following circumstances:
The person requesting the unlock code must be one of the following:
    A current AT&T customer
A former AT&T customer who can provide the phone number or account number for the account
The AT&T Mobile Device was designed for use on the AT&T wireless network.
The AT&T Mobile Device has been paid for in full.
The AT&T Mobile Device has not been reported lost or stolen.
You're allowed the following number of device unlocks:
Current customers are allowed up to five device unlocks per account, per year.
Former customers are allowed a total of five device unlocks per former account.

  • How to use SIM card slot on W500

I found there is a slot for SIM card when I pull the battery out. I insert my SIM card and start the computer, however it won't recognize. I download and install Mobile Connect software, I got "no device found" message. How to use this function?

    Hello LeadOrg:
    Thanks for that reply.
What confuses me is this:  There seems to be two or maybe three different cards available, as follows:
Vodafone and AT&T - HSDPA wireless WAN, which seems to address the following two items:
      - Ericsson HSDPA Wireless WAN Adapter
      - Qualcomm UNDP Wireless WAN Adapter
Verizon Wireless WAN (UNDP), which seems to address the following one item:
       - Qualcomm HS-USB
I can't find any specifications in the Lenovo literature that clarifies which of the above items are suitable for GSM-900 and GSM-1800 (the frequencies used in Europe) and which of these items are suitable for GSM-850 and GSM-1900 (the frequencies used i Oz, USA, and Canada).
Further, Lenovo seems to be linking these two products to specific carriers (Vodafone and AT&T in one case, Verizon in the other case), and I use neither one of these companies - they don't operate in Canada.  I use Rogers GSM when I am in Canada and Swisscom GSM when I am in Europe.
I am quite confused.  I'd like to get a card that works with the two above carriers - but I don't know how to go about the process of selecting the appropriate card.  The whole HSDPA, HS-USB and UNDP business totally confuses me.  I always thought that UNDP was the United Nations Development Program...

  • General Warning to those in Singapore - Stay away ...

Ok. Expat working out here in Singapore.
Walked into a telco on the weekend. Fell in love with the Lumia 900. Planned on getting the 920. Now I am not so sure.
If anyone works for Nokia and can reach their executives/leadership, let them know that NO telecommunications company here supports the Lumia 900 in 4G/LTE mode. Only 3G/3.5G.
When I asked what they support, the usual suspects comes out, HTC, Samsung S3 and even the yet to be released Apple iPhone 5 (release date in Singapore next Friday).
There are 3 major telco's here; Singtel, M1 and Starhub. Zero, Nada, Zilch support for Lumia (any version) in 4G/LTE. I rang each of them in turn.
If you're in Singapore, seeing this might change your mindset on buying Nokia.
If you're a Nokia employee/shareholder, Nokia needs to change the mindset of telecommunication/carriers or they might as well just give up now.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Maybe you need to be a bit more careful before publishing such broad statements. The Nokia 900 LTE version was released exclusively in the US on AT&T. However if you check the Lumia 920 and 820 datasheets, you will see the following:
    Operating Frequency Bands
    GSM 850
    GSM 900
    GSM 1800
    GSM 1900
    WCDMA Band V (850)
    WCDMA Band VIII (900)
    WCDMA Band II (1900)
    WCDMA Band I (2100)
    LTE 800
    LTE 900
    LTE 1800
    LTE 2100
    LTE 2600
    From the Singtel 4G FAQ:
What is the 4G technology which SingTel is using?
SingTel is currently running 4G on LTE 1800/2600.
    Based on this article - http://www.techgoondu.com/2012/09/06/m1-to-roll-out-singapores-first-nationwide-4g-network-on-sept-1... :
"In Singapore, users will be able to easily switch from one telco to the next. Since all three telcos here are running their LTE networks on 1,800MHz and 2,600MHz frequencies, users will be able to keep their LTE phones and just slide in a new SIM card from their new telco."
Therefore both the Lumia 920 and 820 will work perfectly fine on ALL 3 major telcos which you mentioned.

  • Apple-centric Cell Phone Puchase Tale (or, a little knowledge is dangerous)

It has been four years since my last cell phone purchase. (Catholics giggle here). So I bought a new one.
After looking at this page (http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/devices.html) it seemed like Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Nokia where my best options to use iSync for an Apple-centric phone. An Apple Care guy told me that he never had iSync problems with his Motorola phones, but I like the usability and solidness of Nokias (I like that they tend to be a little heavier). Sony Ericsson is my second favorite for usability reasons. My girlfriend and I must have the same carrier because 80% of our minutes are with each other, and she was under contract with Cingular. I wanted a good camera. Internet connectivity was a nice bonus, but I didn't want to pay a lot for a data plan.
In the end I bought a Nokia 6682:
    http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/6682/0,2803,,00.html
    My dream phones were:
Nokia N80 http://www.nokia.com/nseries/index.html?lang=en&country=US#product,n80 (i like that it has wifi and good camera)
Nokia N73 http://www.nokia.com/nseries/index.html?lang=en&country=US#product,n73 (i like that it has an autofocus camera)
The problem with getting high-end phones is:
...Most carriers do not pick up high-end phones because of low demand in US. This means that you have to buy a very expensive unlocked version (and a carrier may not service the warranty for the phone).
...They may not be supported by iSync. Sure there are iSync hacks but I don't want to go down that road.
    Things I Iearned:
...CNet.com is a great resource for getting to know a phone. They have video demos, objective data, a review from an expert, and several reviews from readers. Wikipedia was useful to get an objective point of view and to explain all of the jargon.
...Buying a phone (for anything more than voice) takes a lot of time because there are so many factors to balance (carrier, manufacturer, features, value, Apple connectivity)
...If you want a high-end GSM phone, I think you need T-Mobile service, because they are the only carrier supporting the 1900 frequency (although T-mobile apparently has the worst coverage of the big four)
...While there is only one Nokia store in the nation so far (Chicago), at least one mall (Pentagon City Mall in DC) has a Nokia Experience information kiosk (they don't sell phones, but they have knowledgeable staff and lots of phones to touch, including "coming soon" phones)
...A good way to compare phones is to do a Google search on the phone that you want, and then right click to open up the first ten results in new tabs. Then open up a new browser window, do a Google search on a different phone, open up ten tabs... compare, rinse, repeat.
I'm grateful for any feedback you may offer.

As I'm in nearly the same boat you are, but haven't yet made my new phone purchase, would you mind sharing your opinion of the Nokia you purchased? That model is currently at the top of my list....

  • IPhone 4 stop working with ios 6.1

iPhone 4 stopped working with ios 6.1, visited apple first time, restored phone and worked, less than 24 hours later stopped working again, back to the store, I told iPhone is out of warranty and they'll replace for $150. iPhone worked fine with previous version, no problem at all. Asked to restore to the previous software version, told can't be done. Why should I pay for a damage caused by a software update. Tec claims that ios 6.1 will not work with my phone because it discovered some hardware malfunction, possible the home button. They can't repair. suggested to go to a third party. I'm a satisfied Apple product user for many years. What happened? Any welp out there?

Hey.. I have had this issue since yesterday afternoon.. Some people are saying to keep restoring again and again until it finally goes through.. I have done so like 10 times on my MAC and then I used my husband's PC and tried it 4 times.. No success.. I called apple support, but no help came from there at the end, and the only thing they were able to suggest to me is to sell me a new phone just like mine for a discounted price.. **** NO
Anyways after about 18h of search and stress I came across this link:
    http://techglobex.blogspot.com/2012/06/downgrade-from-ios-6-beta-firmware-to.htm l
That will only make it possibe to go backward.. You will end up back with the IOS 5, but at least you will have a working phone and it will bring back all your contacts and everything else that you ever had backed up on icloud and on your computer. There might be descripencies with the Applications but again this is an issue easily solved, you can always download them back.
Two more things: One, you do not have to download the old version of the itunes, the newest version worked for me without any issues
When choosing to download the older IOS 5.1.1, you will need to figure out whether your carrier is GSM or CDMA but you can easily google this info online..
Well hope that will work for you like it did for me

but i want to connect the first 4S with carrier TATA DOCOMO GSM but its not working with the same USB feature????
    plz reply asap...!!!
    thnxxx in advance!!!

    If not this:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem.
    Also heating sometimes works. See:
Why can't I select my wifi settings?
A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    Then:
Does the iOS device connect to other networks? See other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I had my number changed and now I can't use my phone. Do I need to reprogram it? And how?

You need to contact your carrier. If the carrier is GSM you need to get a new SIM from them. The easiest way is to take the phone to any of their retail stores and they can do it on the spot.
If the carrier is Verizon or Sprint in the US just call their support number.

  • N85-1 WHAT ON EARTH IS WRONG?!

I bought an N85-1, I am in USA on ATT 3G network.
N85 from Dubai, all brand new.
Phone works, but I can only hear connected calls when I use:
    1. Bluetooth
    2. Wired Headphone
    3. Loudspeaker (Speakerphone)
I CANT HEAR CALLS FROM THE HEADSET! WHAT IS WRONG.
So I returned it and was shipped a N85 from Hong Kong
So I turn it on, and it seems to work, I reset to factory, and BAM again I can't hear calls unless I switch to 1, 2, or 3.
What is going on here, I would consider it being the fact I am on ATT and att doesnt have GSM 900, but I am connected on GSM 1900 and I can still hear the calls on other speaker methods, so the phone works, minus the headset speaker.
I cant imagine 2 Phones from different regions BOTH, having the same fault. What ON EARTH AM I DOING WRONG. Is their a setting I am missing, when I enable the factory reset?

Headset soundlevel? If it is that orange bar the orange bar is all the way up.
I also checked to make sure the Headset is "Default"

    Hello jaideniv,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
First I would recommend this article named Can't connect to the iTunes Store found here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368. It will get you started with troubleshooting iTunes Store connection issues on the computer and the phone.
If needed there is a more advanced article named iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting found here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297 that I would next recommend.

  • S890 recognizes operator but no signal

Hi everybody, I am from Peru, I recently bought a S890, reflashed to S111, everything went well (I think) until I put the sim card, operator Claro in Peru (GSM 1900 2G), the phone recognizes the operator but the signal is still down, Does anybody know Why that could be?
    Wireless works fine
all apps, google play store OK.
Is there any patch for this?
I know that this phone could work under 1900 for 2G...
    Thanks

The same thing occurred to me. Skype has been working fine for years until the other day when it didn't recognized my internal microphone. So I can hear people, but they can't hear me.
I've trying everything - My microphone works fine on Ichat and I can see the signal. But on the skype audio preferences, the internal micro doesn't show the little speaker icon on the right of the button, like it shows for the audio output and the ring.
The same thing happened recently to a friend of mine.
I realized I received some kind of chatting message on skype the other day that looked like spam - and then things started to happen with the skype mic.
I have been on every forum possible, and have no idea what to do - It is quite a problem since I work a lot with Skype to give phone call around the world.
    Help please. Thanks.
