No "carrier" settings when travelling at the USA/Mexico border.

I could be right on the border and my phone is set to Telcel one day and AT&T the next. Is there a way to have it set to ATT only?
The carrier button, does not appear in settings.

That is the problem. It is not.
I was in Europe recently and indeed it was there but at the US/Mexico border I either have Telcel or AT&T and no carrier under settings.

Turning off cellular data doesn't turn off the ability of the phone to make or receive phone calls. In order to do that, you'd need to put the phone in Airplane Mode.

i chatted with the rep, and i was told that unless iphone 6 paid off ( i was asking about Verizon Edge), the phone is Locked! And if i have to use it outside the USA, i have to call the the customer care..not sure what for.
I just want a phone and put new SIM in to use. No more, no less. I think Verizon makes thing more complicated for the customers (i've been with Verizon since 2005).
If thing is so complicated, i'd better look for another solution then.

On an iOS device, as long as it has not been hacked/jailbroken, you do not need such software, ever (has nothing to do with traveling somewhere versus using it at home - it is just not necessary anywhere, anytime).

Firefox 6.02 will not save my privacy settings (Use Custom Settings) when I close the window

I am trying to set up my preferences in Google and it tells me that my cookies are not enabled. I open the Firefox 6 Preferences / Privacy window and select the Custom Settings option, to enable third party cookies. When I close the screen the setting is not saved. I am using Firefox 6.02 with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

I took the check mark out of the "Remember Download History" box and closed the screen. It saved the privacy settings.

Can AI remember my layer expanding settings when I save the file?

I have a very organized, deep layer/sublayer structure. I would like AI to remember my expansion setting when I close the file. Currently, I have to close a bunch of layers everytime I open the file.
I know photoshop groups remembers your last settings, but it appears AI doesn't.
Any suggestions?

I have successfully used comparable services like this in Europe. Google "MiFI rental USA". The advantage of using a MiFi device is that you can connect multiple devices at once - usually up to 5.

ITunes could not update the carrier settings on your iPhone

When I try to download and install the new carrier settings file, I get the message "iTunes could not update the carrier settings on your iPhone. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation." (I got a similar message when I tried to download and install the OS update.)
I've been able to work around the problem by creating a different user and installing from there. But I'd like to be able to find and correct the cause of the error message instead of using a workaround. It seems like there's a file or folder somewhere that has somehow become read-only. Does anyone know where iTunes downloads the carrier settings and OS update files?

Right after I posted the message I thought that the age-old placebo of repairing permissions might actually fix my problem. Because of your quick reply I found the ownership problem before repairing permissions. So here was the perfect chance for a test. Repair Permissions ran successfully but the owner of ~/Library/iTunes was still root. Repair Permissions fails the test.
I manually changed the owner to steve and was able to download and install the carrier settings.
