No Channels Scanned in USA? MSI DIGI VOX mini II

Bought MSI DIGIVOX mini II in Germany. I believe it is the V.03 and has received DVB-T perfectly throughout the Continent but when I tried to use it back here at home I am not able to scan any channels. I think Sarasota, Florida has DVB-T broadcast so I am at a loss as to why the receiver is not seeing anything out there? Is this unit set to receive only European frequency ranges possibly? If anyone can answer this please accept my thanks in advance!

Nope, you'd need a dongle designed for the US/Canada market (supporting ATSC).
As MSI is based in Taiwan, most of their digital tuners are DVB-T based, as it covers a larger global market. I know we don't normally recommend competitors brands here, but you'd have more joy with a US-based manufacturer for TV tuners suitable for the North American market, such as Hauppauge. However when it comes to DVB-T tuners, MSI's are second to none.

  • Digi Vox mini-II with Media Portal?

Has anyone got a MSI Digi Vox Mini-II USB DVB-T stick to be recognised by Media Portal (MP)?
MP say that I should be able to add support myself for any DVB-T card with "BDA" drivers.  First question: are the drivers that come with the Digi Vox BDA drivers?  If not, is it possible to get hold of some?  And if they are, any ideas why MP still won't recognise the card?  If someone has got theirs working, I'll post more info regarding exactly what I've tried etc.
I have read that some Digi Vox products (not explicitly my card) are rebranded Twinham cards, and some Twinham products ARE supported by MP.  Many people have had success by replacing their MSI drivers with Twinham.  I tried this but I admit I wasn't really sure what drivers were appropriate, so I can't rule this out as a solution.  If anyone knows anything about this, that would be great.
    Cheers,
    Matt.

Cheers for the quick reply.  Unfortunately I have tried the most recent drivers you suggested.
It's not really a problem with the card: it works fine with the supplied software and it claims to work (in the manual and on the box) with MCE -- I've no way of testing this; it's just that it doesn't work with Media Portal.  And I can't complain about this because it isn't in MP's list of supported cards.  The only reason I haven't given up is that MP say that you can get any BDA DVB-T card (or stick) working with Media Portal using GraphEdit and this is what I can't get to work.
If anyone has had any experience with this then it would be great to hear from them.
And yes, I have raised this issue with MP: I'm still awaiting a reply on their forums.
Thanks in advance if anyone has any suggestions!
    Matt.

  • MSI Digi Vox DVB-T

I've newly tried out my Digi Vox. I'm delighted with the AV quality   however, I have to say I'm not at all impressed with the software.
my 2.606 version player subtitle options doesn't work and the first time I run it I got a blue screen. (I've newly install my XP and updates 2 days ago after 2 yrs of flawless operation for - about time for a maintenace) The remote control is plain annoying, very slow response. EPG doesn't work most of the time. Crashes if you flip across channel too frequently and the Portable antenna, absolutely useless.
I've tried to use Twinhan software which works well, functionality is exactly the same since they are the OEM. All features were fully functional and the remote control delay shorter. No EPG problem and no crashes.
However, on most channel apart from BBC, the video jitters and skips which make it unwatcheable sometime. So I've to switch back to MSI version 2.606 to get back the smooth reliable AV transmission sacrificing the subtitle & a temperamental EPG options.
The recording is superbly sharp. CPU usage very low.
The latest BDA driver is v1.0.4.7 from MSI or Twinhan (search for VP-4075)
I think only two 3rd party PVR software currently support this Digi Vox,
    (1) Meedio TV 1.38 and
    (2) myTheathre
Can't afford them so will try out Winamp TV plugin next.
If anyone knows of any freeware or trialware that support this little Digi Vox, Pls post it here. I seriously hope MSI development will workharder on the software side. This is a superb kit let down by the software.
    Cheers

have you ever looked at MediaPortal?
    http://mediaportal.sourceforge.net
free, open source Media Center-type HTPC program, has support for DVB-T cards.
Yes, have been trying to get mediaportal to work properly for the pass few days. It is very unstable and kept crashing with error message popping on and off at least on my machine. The audio lags significantly. I've tried all the tricks in their forum.EPG doesn't work. will take some time to sort this out.  hence I've not mention about it. Mediaportal is also memory intensive but a nice piece of art if it works.
Could it be the driver problem? or windows?
Whenever I load a driver (old & new) the Windows always say the device might not be working properly. Not sure why. Or have I got a dodgy Digi Vox?
However, myTheatre works perfectly. the video did loss a bit of sharpness and lack features. but its by far the most stable and easy to use. Couldn't get EPG to work either need to gain access to their plugins.

  • MSI Digi Vox Micro HD on Windows 7 64 bit Laptop

I have a problem with my MSI Digi Vox Micro HD on Windows 7 64 bit. After inserting the cd with the drivers I get a pop up to autorun it. After I clicked Yes the installation didn't start. Instead I'v got an Invalid path error and the autorun froze. I'v had no other options then to install every single program separately for the tuner from the cd. First the Driver, than Arc soft, Media converter, total media running the *setup.exe files from the CD. I'v restarted the Laptop and wanted to configure the tv signal. I'v started the Total media 3.5 application and went to Setup->TV menu. There was this option: Select "Next" to begin configuring your TV signal (NEXT/Cancel). At any time I'v tried I get "The device cannot be detected or it is not supported." This device should be compatible with windows 7 (it is advertised so). How come these errors occur? What could be the main problem? How can I get my tuner work properly? Please help I'm very disappointed.

Yes, but as you are using 64bit Win7, does the driver CD contain 64bit drivers?
At present, there are no drivers listed for download on the product page:

  • [Vox] Digi VOX mini won't integrate with MCE 2005?

I just bouth a Digi VOX mini (usb 2.0 DVBT device) and althouth it works great with included Cyberlink PowerCiname, it doesn't seem to be recognised by the MCE integrated application. It's not compatible with that?
I really need it to be, as I plan to consume DVBT from XBOX360, and it only could be done thrown propietary Windows MCE multimedia application.

connect the DVB-T device, make sure the BDA drivers are installed (if any others came on the CD with it)
then start MCE, go to Settings > TV > Set up TV signal

  • MSI Digi Vox USB 2.0 DVB-T TV Tuner

    Hello,
I've bought this TV tuner card today & already spend hours trying to make it work properly... Without any success though. The problem is that after getting a list of all available channels I can preview them I can even choose a channel to watch but... But if I make that decision I cannot switch to any other channels without restarting an application. If I try doing it without restarting DVB-TV 2.6 it keeps getting me the same error message "Fail to play program". I don't have to say that not all of the found-by-the-software channels can be watched through this tv tuner, most of them end with a same error message. I've tried my usual and the newest drivers for both graphic & sound cards (Intel Extreme Graphics - 845, VIA AC'97 Audio). Any ideas what to do with this problem?
    Regards,
    Dr Raul Duke

That may be correct, but my old Mustek 1200UB scanner is currently working flawlessly in Windows 7 using Windows XP drivers. There were never any drivers made for Vista for it.
I got one of those scanners too!

  • Digi Vox usb tuner will not receive on UHF??

Hello Everyone from a newbie to this forum!
I was wondering if anybody has had the same problem as me with their Digi Vox?
The device performs very well receiving digital TV in the vhf band.
However, it will not work on 536.5 MHz (7Mhz bandwidth),the local UHF channel here in Perth West Australia.
Yep. the antenna checks out OK.
I can receive a clear colour picture on this channel using a different set top box with this antenna.
Also downloaded the latest driver from MSI web site but still no go.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Scadaguy

I'm a new owner of Digi Vox and have being looking around for new software that support Digi Vox.
I came across an article highlighting this issues before. Seems to be happening in Australia only???
Some cannot receive UHF Channel while other cannot receive VHF channel.
The Problem seems to be on the driver or sort. The OEM maker is Twinhan (another Taiwanese coy). Apparently similar to TinyUSB DVB-T another brand but i think the driver is different. However, some one manage to solve the problem by adding some source code.
Google for Digi Vox UHF and browse a bit. If I find it again I'll post it here.

  • Plugging in Movie Vox Mini Plus causes a BSOD

I recently formated my system and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit as the new OS, and that's where my problems arise.... it worked well before (on XP), but now when I plug in my Movie Vox Mini Plus, it causes a blue screen.
I have installed the software from the disc, and I have downloaded and installed (If it installs the drivers when I click the dpinst thingy) Windows 7 drivers too (For 32-bit, duh)... But it still does the same thing...
Simply put, when I plug my MSI Movie Vox Mini Plus into an USB - port of my computer, my computer shows a blue screen and restarts.

Well, there's no other Windows 7 computers near me, my stepfather's computer has a Vista, and it works great there... My laptop has an XP and it works great too, but since this is an old laptop, it's really not made for taking video (apart from it being in 320x240 resolution).

  • Big problem in digi vox

i pay digi vox but when i make scan i didn't found any channel i pay new antenna but also no channel  i live in kuwait if this model not working in kuwait plz tell me or give me reason why this item not working

no. for a HD set-top box, you'd only get HD output if you connected to a HDTV using HDMI. AFAIK, there are currently no capture cards on the market with HDMI inputs, only composite or S-video, which is SD (Standard Definition)
DVB-T is a digital standard used in Europe, Japan, and Australia, amongst other countries. DVB-T will allow for HDTV broadcasts over the air (indeed i believe they already have HD DVB in Australia). here in the UK, HD is only available through Sky satellite and Telewest cable, we won't see HD over Freeview (the UK's free-to-view DVB terrestrial service) until at least 2008 (there are some test transmissions being broadcast from the Crystal Palace transmitter in London, but as my nearest transmitter is Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands, that is no use to me!)
in the US, you have the ATSC standard, which DigiVOX does not support, AFAIK. it is very similar to DVB, but there are differences, which the Wikipedia article has links to, if you're interested in learning.

  • Digi Vox crashes computer

Can anyone give me any pointers on this issue?
I have Digi Vox running on my computer, and while the software is pretty ordinary, I could live with it if only it didn't continually crash the computer. Without any warning whatsoever, the computer reboots. I know it's definitely the Digi Vox as it has never done it unless I'm running DVB-TV. It's extremely unpredictable - sometimes will do it several times in an hour, other times will not do it all evening. It's extremely frustrating, and all the Windows Error Report can tell me is it's "an unknown driver issue". I've tried shutting down every other program in the vicinity, but that makes no difference either.
I'm using the most recent driver, and my computer is more than ample going by the required specs. I've asked for online help from MSI, and the answer I got after two weeks (and a second note pointing out I'd like a reply to the first one) was install the latest driver, and check the specs of the computer, which was totally useless considering the above. I've replied that neither of those is the issue, but several days later have still heard nothing.
If anyone can help, I'll be your best friend forever :D.
Oh yeah...and another issue...according the manual you can record one channel while watching another. Can anyone tell me how the hell this can be done? I've tried starting recording and then changing the channel, but all that happens is a dialog box asking if I want to stop recording. If I hit "No", it stays on the same channel. Kinda defeats the object of the exercise. I've asked MSI about this too, and all I get is "Read the manual". This is after I've pointed out that there are no instructions, just the statement that it can be done (which, btw, is Q. 6 in the FAQs).
    Thanks for any enlightenment
    Topenda

Hi Stu, thanks for the response.
    My computer specs:
    2.4Gh Athlon processor
Asus A7V400-MX SE motherboard (integrated sound and graphics)
    1.2M RAM
    Windows XP Pro
Re recording/watching channels, the FAQ says: Can I view and record different channels simultaneously? Yes, but the channels must be from the same transponder.
I assumed the transponder meant the tuner. I've just realised it's not - as I discovered I can record/watch with ABC/ABC2, so transponder must be the transmitter of the program.
I must say I'm not overly impressed with MSI customer support. I still haven't had a response from my reply of 27/5.
If I can't find a solution for the crashing, I'm off shopping for another tuner. I need to record programs for work, so having the program reboot the computer in the middle of it just isn't good enough. Unfortunately I don't have access to another computer that I can try the Digi Vox on.

  • Multi-channel Scan

i am using PCI-6025E DAQ card. do Multi-channel Scan
,before signal input to analog input , i use a voltage follower ad623. sample frequency is 1k, is it safe ?
or how to reduce settling time effect ?

    Hi Schmidt,
The input range for the 6025E board is +/- 10 V, so if your signal (going into the DAQ board) is within this range you are safe. In regards to reducing settling time, you are on the right track. The following link is a great resource when using a voltage follower to reduce the impedance of a transducer.
