No charge while using GPS app...
I'm using the MotionX-GPS app on a iPhone 3G. On a 3 hour road trip recently, I connected the phone to the car charger cable and proceeded on my trip. I noticed that even though the phone was on the charge cord, the battery was still depleting at a good pace. It finally used up the phone battery about 1 hour into the trip, and I had to turn off the GPS function. To keep the phone display from turning off, I disabled the autolock function to force the screen display to be on all the time. Why wouldn't the phone maintain a battery charge while on the auto charge cord? Was the power drain more than the charger could keep up with? This problem keeps me from using my iPhone as a GPS nav device. On the trip back, I only used the GPS app as needed, and turned it off to let the phone charge back up.
Most likely the car adapter cannot supply enough power. There are two types of USB chargers, 1/2 amp and 1 amp. Computers generally supply only 1/2 amp, so this would be the likely problem if you connect to a computer USB port. If you are using a charger made for cars check its specs and make sure it can supply 1 amp at 5 volts.

Another possibility is that the charger is defective. Do you see a "charging" indication on the phone (lightning bolt on the battery icon)?

Just when using some game apps. I assume that it has something to do with battery drain, should I be concerned?
When the iPod is used heavily like for games it is norma for the iPod to get warm. Unless you hav short battery life I would not be concerned.

There is a bug in the spellchecking functionality when typing in the web view or while using Blogsy App. Why? Why my IPad crashes so often?
I have always found spell check to be "buggy" in every version of all of the iOS's that I have run on my original model iPad and my new iPad - especially when replying and typing posts in these forums. It works perfectly in every other application on my iPad but it has never worked perfectly in any web browser that I have used on my iPad - no matter what I have done to try to correct it. That is what MY experience has been with spell check on my iPads.
As for the crashes on your iPad try these basic troubleshooting steps.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit all apps and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. -

1st. Gen iPad question: the touch keyboard does not appear when attempting to input data into data fields - this happens while using all apps, ex. Notes, Google, Pages, etc.. The cursor prompt is present. Tapping screen just brings up the option to: "Select Select All Paste." I have rebbooted with no change.

Basics from the User Guide are restart, reset, restore. Try each of these. If they don't work, bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.

The app store keeps popping up (with an app to download) while using other apps. It is getting incredibly annoying. I am currently using the QR reader app. How do I get it to stop?
you can try a soft reset, or u can try to turn it off and then back on. Or take it to the apple store and see what they say about it. Hope this helps

I'm having APPLE ID. While using in app store it asks Credit Card details, but i'm not having credit card or any(as mention). How to download free apps. pls solve my problem
There are instructions on this page for how to create an account without giving a credit card number : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534 - i.e. select a free app an create an account when 'buying' it (this only works for new accounts, not for updating an existing account)

Does the GPS app use the data connection or the GPS signal or satellites?

BruceThanks and I also did some research and found out that with GPS active, if you load your route/directions prior to making a phone call the route will be cached and navigation still works. The GPS will tell you where you are along the route.
But if you're on the phone and then try to load a map or navigation it will not load your route until it can download the map, meaning you will need to wait until you get off the phone call to download the info.
So if you know you will need to use navigation, turn on your GPS, load your map/route to start navigation, then make your phone call. Makes sense to me now and if anyone needs to know here is the solution right here.

IPhone dies while using radio app 3g plugged in?
I am curently in the hospital under going antibiotics treatment and will be stuck for 2 weeks. So I thought to myself I better bring my charger and I should be all good. I have noticed on several occasions that while using a radio app or watching a movie over 3G my phone dies even while plugged in? It don't make sense. I thought if I have a full battery and plugged in I should be good. But when listening for a couple of hours even with the screen locked it shuts off and I get the too low to turn on battery icon? Is this a major flaw that apple forgot to mention that the phone draws more power than it takes in while charging or plugged in?
This is not acceptable. My phone is not jailbroken and I am not tethering. So what's up with this?I don't live in that area (I'm in northern Orange County, CA), but my neighbor and I have been having the same problem since last Saturday (Feb. 5) in the area around where we live (we both have iPhone 4's, and they still work fine in other areas). Note that we have full bars, and the "3G" symbol on the display, but get no data over 3G; disabling 3G allows access using EDGE (slowly), and phone/texting works fine (it's just the 3G data in our neighborhood that's broken). Since we both have WiFi in our homes, we didn't initially identify the 3G problem; what we both noticed was a sudden increase in iPhone power consumption (beginning last Saturday) when we are in our neighborhood (even when the phones are idle); I used to go 3-4 days on a charge, but now the battery drops at a rate of about 10%/hour when I'm around the house. Interestingly, my neighbor also has an iPad, and it doesn't exhibit the problem. Both phones and the iPad are running iOS V4.2.1. We've tried all the normal things (rebooting, clearing network settings, etc.), and nothing works. I spent some time on the phone last night with AT&T, and they are going to send someone out to check connectivity.

My Ipod touch has frozen while using an app.
My new Ipod touch has frozen while I was using an app. I can't even turn it off. It has pink and blus stripes on the screen. I don't want to lose all my stuff and haven't yet got a back up on the computer. What should I do?
Have you tried a hard reset yet? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

Downloading While Using Another App
Ok, similar to my other question. I am currently downloading a very large program. If I use another app will it download in the background or do I need to wait until the download is complete before using my iPad?
By "downloading a very large program" do you mean a large App from the App Store?

Hi,
Currently, it is not possible to turn on or off each layer in the Adobe Reader mobile apps (for iOS, Android, Windows Phone). I am not aware of any other third-party mobile apps that support layers in PDF documents.
I'd recommend using the desktop version of Adobe Reader on a Mac or Windows computer to view PDF documents with layers. Sorry for the inconvenience.
