"No Child Processes" Error

When I am downloading certain files from the internet, the files are not mounting, and I am getting a "No child Processes" Error. I have run the apple repair disc over the computer, however, the problems is still happening. Can anybody help to me fix this problem???? Thanks

Hi-
Welcome to Discussions!
Is it possible to download what you want from a different server? The error could well be the result of file problems on the other end.
To further insure that it isn't your system, run a full set of maintenance scripts, and clear logs, caches, and other temporaries.
A last item to "clear" your machine, would be a restart be fore trying to download.
Should these proceedures fail to fix the problem, I would consider the problem to be with those "certain files".

  • Could not write frame (communication error with child process failed)

    Hi ---
    Getting this error about 50 % of the time when I try to render ?
    What good is a grading app that is having so much trouble rendering out the results ?
    Any help would be great

    I Would love some help with this as well. I've color corrected and am rendering. I have chosen these settings based on the video files in Premeire.
    It gets all the way to 98% and then says "communication with child process failed"
    I tried unchecking "strip alpha" as suggested above to no avail.
    What is going on? I spent a good deal of time on this and have deadlines and all I want to do is get this graded video back into premeire. Thank you!

  • Playback and Render Errors - communication error with child process failed

    Tried a reinstall, does not fix the issue, will get the gray screen with text:  communication error with child process failed
    This happens during playback (About 30% of the frames or so) as well as when rendering an output.
    On PC.

    So I updated my nvidea drivers to the latest and greatest (GeForce 327.23). I also reinstalled SpeedGrade CC (which is quite the pain, btw! why can't we keep a local .exe file? Have to download every time you want to resintall ... even if only ten minutes apart!)
    Still the issue seems to persist.
    The footage is from the BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera. It worked fine about a month ago when I was working on some footage from the same line of cameras.

  • [INVALID] [pacman] error: call to waitpid failed (No child process)

    Hi.
    First of all I apologize for very unclear topic name but this problem clutter me.
    Description:
    I use Archlinux x86_64 on my several machines: two laptops and desktop. On desktop and one laptop I update system regularly and also use my custom builds of git, bzr, emacs, rxvt, tmux and others.
    Preliminary:
    After Sat update (2010-04-24) on my desktop I noticed that compiled Emacs (source taken from bzr repo) crashed just after start. I found the cause of error: new gcc (4.5.0) has broken '-O2' option (actually broken '-foptimize-sibling-calls' but accidentally '-O3' option works). Besides this annoyance my desktop system works fine.
    Main problem:
    But on my laptop (on which I traced down the problem with compiled Emacs) I faced with strange problems (I report about them only now because I didn't have time before).
    When I run 'sudo pacman -Su' to update my laptop system I sometimes see
    error: call to waitpid failed (No child process)
    I figured out that this message comes only if 'chrooting' is performed (pacman --debug).
    Also when I try to update local git repositories using 'git pull' I get the same error:
    error: waitpid for git-pull failed: No child process
    and the same for 'gc', 'rev-list', 'git-remote-http'. (I checked with newly compiled binary and distro's binary).
    Even simple python script 'sample.py' fails to run:
    #!/usr/bin/env python
    import os,string
    target = "sample.py"
    f = os.popen('file "%s" 2> /dev/null' % target)
    output = string.strip(f.read())
    rc = f.close()
    if not output or rc:
    print("Some error occurs")
    else:
    print("Result %s" % output)
    If I run it I get
    IOError: [Errno 10] No child process
    Except these error messages my laptop system works without noticeable errors.
    Could someone help me trace down the problem?
    P.S. I use zen kernel on this laptop (AUR: kernel26zen-git, stable) but I also checked this behavior on default kernel.
    EDIT:
    Sorry. My fault. Seems that this error is triggered by tmux . I tried git in sakura and didn't see any error messages.
    Sorry for the noise.
    EDIT2:
    For those who are interested in solution for this problem with tmux I found a thread about this behavior on sourceforge.net:

    Hi, I found SAP note   1828028 - DBCON connection to remote HANA database cannot be established
    whic has below resolution:
    1
    Error code
    Reason
    ***LOG BY0=> invalid username or password:  [dbds         879]
    Invalid username/password maintained in connection parameters (to be edited via transaction DBCO)
    2)Hint: As the database connection between the SLT and the HANA system is based on DBCONNECT, you can also use report ADBC_TEST_CONNECTION in transaction SE38 for testing. SAP Note 1750722 describes this in detail.
    But our problem is SAP system is not up to run these solutions in GUI.
    Can someone help / provide SAP doc link for how to update DBCON at OS or HANA db level.
    Thank You

  • Child process dies, nfs locks not released, webserver hangs...

    Hi,
    I have Sun One 6.1 sp 11 on a solaris 10 ldom.
    The server is configured to write logs access and error to /logs which is an NFS mount to a separate solaris 10 box. The logging to an NFS mount is a business requirement.
    Sun JWS is configured to have two httpd processes and the watchdog to restart them if one should fail.
    Every now and then, about once a day (it varies), one of the child processes will die with messages like this in the error log: (1949 is the wdog pid)
    [09/Dec/2009:14:19:06] failure ( 1949): CORE3107: Child process closed admin channel
    [09/Dec/2009:14:19:06] fine ( 1949): CORE3061: signal_handler_thread: received signal 18

    At this point the webserver will not respond. The processes (2*httpd, 1*wdog) are running but do not respond. The access log shows a weird lock with output from pfiles:
    21: S_IFREG mode:0777 dev:340,10 ino:34988 uid:111 gid:102 size:0
    O_RDWR|O_APPEND|O_CREAT|O_LARGEFILE FD_CLOEXEC
    advisory write lock set by system 0x2 process 280
    which I think means the new http process is waiting for the lock to be released, but the lock is never freed.
    But what I'm really curious about is why the process is dying in the first place. Anyone seen "status 37" before, or know where I can look it up? I couln't google up any reference on what it might mean...
    any help appreciated
    cheers
    Kristin.

    I found the following in http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/816-4555/rfsrefer-134?l=ja&a=view :
    In this situation, the SIGLOST signal is posted to the process. The default action for the SIGLOST signal is to terminate the process.
    For you to recover from this state, you must restart any applications that had files open at the time of the failure. Note that the following can occur.
    - Some processes that did not reopen the file could receive I/O errors.
    - Other processes that did reopen the file, or performed the open operation after the recovery failure, are able to access the file without any problems.
    Thus, some processes can access a particular file while other processes cannot.

  • Child creation Error on vms HELP

    Hi,
    Iam trying to execute a file from withing a java program on VMS This is my code
    public class BAMBOE {
      public static void main(String[] args) {
        BamboeRunner boe = new BamboeRunner();
        boe.start();
    import java.io.*;
    public class BamboeRunner extends Thread implements Runnable {
      public void run() {
        try {
          Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("@SIMPEL");
          process.waitFor();
          return ;
        catch (Exception e) {
          e.printStackTrace();
          return ;
    }But I keep getting the following error:

            at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Compiled Code)
            at BamboeRunner.run(Compiled Code)Anybody that can help me fix this problem please??

    I've managed to get somewhere with this...
    I've got it to work by having the system command I want to run in a com file and specifying the full path to that file in the exec method without the '@'...
    e.g.
    Process proc = Runtime.getRuntime.exec("ppoi_dev:[user.dba_ppoi.matt.proc]proc.com");
    where the file
    ppoi_dev:[user.dba_ppoi.matt.proc]proc.com
    contains
    $ dir
    When I run this I can get the output from the dir command by reading from the InputStream of the Process object.
    Have fun.

    thanks for the response chris. in answer to your questions - no there are no NSAPI plugins installed and we are getting zero helpful output from the log files.
    /server-root/logs/errors is the only log file that has relevant output at the time of the crashes. our own application logs and the sytem's syslogs have nothing relevant at those times.
    the o/p from the errors log is basically :
    [19/Dec/2002:02:05:39] config ( 5815): [GC
    [19/Dec/2002:02:05:39] config ( 5815): 154915K->129640K(249216K)

    [19/Dec/2002:02:05:59] failure ( 5814): Child process admin thread is shutting down
    at which point it resets itself. we have a load balanced system and the resets aren't noticed at the front end but i'm beginning to tear my hair out.
    We have the exact same s/w configuration on 2 x Netra T1s and they've been running fine for over a year. We have 2 brand spanking new Fire V100s & the only significant h/w difference between the machines being L2 cache (512k v 2Mb). i would've thought that a bottleneck would throw up errors all over the place and result in a noticeably slower system which isn't the case.
    our next step is to throw in an extra 512Mb RAM and see does that increase the time between resets - currently 24-36hrs. i have a niggling suspicion it may be memory related.
    any other ideas?

  • TCP connection closed but a child process of SQL Server may be holding a duplicate of the connection's socket in SQL2008R2

    Hello,
    I do get the below SQL error in production environment intermittently:
    TCP connection closed but a child process of SQL Server may be holding a duplicate of the connection's socket.  Consider enabling the TcpAbortiveClose SQL Server registry setting and restarting SQL Server. If the problem persists, contact Technical
    Support.
    According to the post I search in MSDN, the above error is fixed in SQL2008R-CU6, but I have SQL2008R2-SP02 CU09 patch in production environment and the above error still occurred intermittently. I am running SQL2008R2 SP02 CU09 patch with Windows 2008R2-SP01.
    I would like to know if anyone has  the same error happened to their SQL environment after applied SQL2008R2-SP02 CU06 patch and later.
    Any suggestion would be helpful.

  • When executing an external app, how do I keep stdout with its child process

    I running an external application from java, but I want the stdout to remain with the child process. This app spawns its own output window where it displays its own output and error messages. I'm running the app using the following code:
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(command, null, workingDirectory);
    But the Process class grabs the stdout and stderr of the application it runs and holds on to them.
    Any suggestions on how can I still run the program without Java grabbing the application's stdout and stderr streams?

    In Windows, this works for me.
    I don't remember why it is so convoluted, but this is what I came up with:
    // Closes after completion
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(
            new String[] { "cmd", "/C", "start", "/WAIT", "cmd", "/C", command } ).waitFor();
    // Waits for you to close the command prompt window
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(
             new String[] { "cmd", "/C", "start", "/WAIT", "cmd", "/K", command } ).waitFor();where command can be any internal command, executable, batch file.

  • Urgent: Child process closed admin channel on Solaris 9 and 6.1 SP5

    Hi
    I'm facing this issue on Solaris 9 and Sun AppServer 6.1 SP5, the appserver crashes for some reason and restarts itself. There doesnt seem to be any specific instance which leads to this error. I notice that if I leave my application running for a while I end up seeing this error and I need to kill the instance that was running and restart the server instance.
    This is what i see in the log files before the server restarts itself.
    " failure (12181): CORE3107: Child process closed admin channel"
    It seems like i'm not the only one seeing this issue:

    Anybody knows what could be going on?
    Thanks

    After the corefile is written, use pstack on it. In the pstack file you a stacktrace of the crashing function. Alas, this information is only useful when you have the sources.
    Also, usually there are other, more specific lines in the errors logfile e.g.:
    [27/Jan/2006:07:38:55] catastrophe (15456): CORE3260: Server crash detected (signal SIGSEGV)
    [27/Jan/2006:07:38:55] info (15456): CORE3262: Crash occurred in function INTprepare_nsapi_thread from module /opt/SUNWwbsvr/bin/https/lib/libns-httpd40.so
    [27/Jan/2006:07:38:55] failure (15455): CORE3107: Child process closed admin channel
    If you post them, maybe somebody can give you a hint...

    Appriciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Mahipal

    Hello were there ever any updates to this post, I'm having basically the same issue and would be interested on an update.

  • CORE3107: Child process closed admin channel

    I Installed SUN ONE Web server 6.1 on a UNIX machine.
    Installed 2 web applications.
    1 of them works fine (has no Oblix logic), but the other gives me the error message "CORE3107: Child process closed admin channel" and terminates the application.
    The point of failure occurs when I call Oblix to initialize.
    I have the same web application on IPlanet version 6.0 and has no issues.
    Pease help.

    That message indicates that the child process terminated unexpectedly. Given your description, the problem is likely a crash in the Oblix plugin.
    You may wish to check for core files.
    (Note that "UNIX" is not enough information for us to suggest specific steps. Sun ONE Web Server 6.1 is supported on 3 different UNIX platforms, and each has a very different set of diagnostic tools.)

  • Tracing Java Processes that spawns child process

    I hope I'm posting this in the correct group. If not, please let me know where to direct this question:
    In our 12.1.3 Applications, we installed a plugin called 'Org Chart' by Applaud Solutions.  It is a flash component that graphically displays the employee hierarchy of an organizations and is accessed via responsibility.  This tool also has a feature to 'export' the chart as a  Microsoft Word or PowerPoint to the users desktop.  When this occurs, a 'java' process is kicked off on the applications server to process this request.  Now, here's the issue: The performance of this export is terrible!  It takes roughly about 2-3 minutes to complete, and sometimes never completes.  Here is the java process that gets kicked off for one user which i figured out how to run manually:
    [applprod1@aspapp012 ~]$ java -jar OpenOfficeGenerator.jar /u01/applprod1/PROD1/apps/apps_st/appl/xxas/1.0.1/out/orgchart-f78b7a67-a379-4f7d-9dcf-5f13b22e03e4.xml /tmp/ed.pptx docx NameandTitle letter Y normal
    When I kick this off, I'm able to get the linux PID :
    9056
    22523 24779 62 16:21 pts/0
    00:00:06 java -jar OpenOfficeGenerator.jar /u01/applprod1/PROD1/apps/apps_st/appl/xxas/1.0.1/out/orgchart-f78b7a67-a379-4f7d-9dcf-5f13b22e03e4.xml /tmp/ed.pptx docx NameandTitle letter Y normal
    Then, I run an 'strace -f -p 22523' and notice these timeout issues from child processes that is spawns:
    [pid 22524] read(3, "\n", 1)
    = 1
    [pid 22524] _llseek(3, 18642588, [18642588], SEEK_SET) = 0
    [pid 22524] read(3, "\0", 1)
    = 1
    [pid 22524] _llseek(3, 18642589, [18642589], SEEK_SET) = 0
    [pid 22536] <... futex resumed> )
    = -1 ETIMEDOUT (Connection timed out)
    [pid 22524] read(3,  <unfinished ...>
    [pid 22536] futex(0x972b728, FUTEX_WAKE_PRIVATE, 1) = 0
    [pid 22536] gettimeofday({1384208528, 131781}, NULL) = 0
    [pid 22536] clock_gettime(CLOCK_MONOTONIC, {33657710, 707532536}) = 0
    [pid 22536] gettimeofday({1384208528, 131844}, NULL) = 0
    [pid 22536] clock_gettime(CLOCK_REALTIME, {1384208528, 131892000}) = 0
    [pid 22536] futex(0x965d2bc, FUTEX_WAIT_PRIVATE, 1, {0, 49952000} <unfinished ...>
    My question is does anyone know how i can determine what is causing these timeouts?  It seems the java process spawns off child processes and this is where the timeouts are occurring.  Upon further investigation the child processes are throwing the following errors as well:
    futex(0x905f1b4, FUTEX_WAIT_PRIVATE, 67, NULL) = 0
    futex(0x905ed28, FUTEX_WAKE_PRIVATE, 1) = 0
    futex(0x906345c, FUTEX_WAKE_OP_PRIVATE, 1, 1, 0x9063458, {FUTEX_OP_SET, 0, FUTEX_OP_CMP_GT, 1}) = 1
    futex(0x905f1b4, FUTEX_WAIT_PRIVATE, 69, NULL) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable)
    futex(0x905ed28, FUTEX_WAKE_PRIVATE, 1) = 0
    However, I am unable to determine the cause of the timeout and resource issue. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated! thanks.

    I would suggest you consult "Applaud Solutions" for this issue.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • Race detection in child processes

    Hi,
    the program given below creates a child process with two threads accessing a shared variable. Unfortunately, Thread Analyzer does not detect the race (neither version 12.0 nor 12.3). The race is only detected if it occurs in the parent process. Option "-F on/all" to instrument child processes does not work in conjunction with option "-r all" (the collect tool emits the error message "
    Race-detection data cannot be collected with any of -F -j -J -x"). Is this an inherent limitation of Thread Analyzer or is there a way to detect races and deadlocks in child processes?
    Thank you very much in advance for your help.
    Regards
    #include <unistd.h>
    #include <stdlib.h>
    #include <assert.h>
    #include <pthread.h>
    int x;
    void* fun(void*)
        x++;
        return NULL;
    int main ()
        x = 0;
        int pid = fork();
        assert(pid >= 0);
        if (pid == 0)
            /* Child process */
            pthread_t thread;
            assert(pthread_create(&thread, NULL, fun, NULL) == 0);
            x++;
            assert(pthread_join(thread, NULL) == 0);
            _exit(0);
        else
            /* Parent process */
            sleep (1);
        return 0;

    Just an update in case someone has seen this issue. The problem I am seeing is that some reports will spawn these child processes (that's how the appear in toad). At the DB level it is just another database process which shows up from v$session. I don't know how the application is calling to use as many processes as possible but this is what I am trying to limit on. If I run the same query in SQLPlus, only one process SID is created.
