  • Can't add CIFS Share from iManager on OES

I recently install OES and have not been able to add a CIFS share from
    iManager .
    The error is:
Error: The given volume name could not be found on the specified server.
I've tried entering the path is various ways:
    \vol1\share\
    \vol1\share
    vol1\share\
    vol1\share
    vol1:\share\
I've recreated the Pool and now have the volume name "VOLUME1" but still no
    success.

    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

The source of the CIFS issue is the cluster snapin.
The CIFS functionally is included in the cluster snapin for cluster
    services version 1.6 (NetWare 6.0) and 1.7 (NetWare 6.5).
Unfortunately, with Cluster Services 1.8 (OES and NetWare 6.5 SP3),
Novell dropped the CIFS functionality from the cluster snapin. So when
you install an OES/NetWare server, or when you install SP3 to an
existing Server, you will loose the CIFS snapin.
Note that reinstalling SP3 will not bring you back the CIFS
functionality as it is actually the cause of the disappearence.
To get back the CIFS functionality, you have to get the NCS 1.7 cluster
snapins. The latest version of these snapins can be found in NW65SP2 in
the file NCS.ZIP. Unpack these file somewhere and use the files NCS.JAR
and NCSRES.JAR from this ZIP file to replace the corresponding files of
    your ConsoleOne installation.

Hello, im having a similar problem.
I can acess to the the groupwise tab on imanager and select the poa that i want to associate a user then i click apply. But the changes are not really applied. The groupwise user is not created.
my output of /opt/novell/groupwise/admin/gwadmin-ipc query is:
    0.0.0.0:9710=>MAIL
    10.10.240.113:9711=>POA01.MAIL
    I can't understand what's wrong with this

    2. I suspect the admin service may be listening on the IP addr instead of hostname. To verify, from the GW server run:
    /opt/novell/groupwise/admin/gwadmin-ipc query
you should get something like: 151.155.136.215:9710=>Utah(/mail/utah/)
What you enter in the iMan plugin config needs to match what the admin service is listening on..

  • Groupwise Plugin 2014 - Groupwise configuration error

when selecting the correct postoffice by "modify user" on the groupwise tab in imanager 2.7.7 we become following error message:
Adding a user to postoffice failed with status code: 409 and with status message: Conflict. Please resolve the issue before trying again.
What can we do to resolve this Problem?

    A little update to this,
Looks like we only check conflicts for the preferred addressing format.
So in my example below, it would fail only if you have first.last, last.first for firstinitialLastname as the default addr format. If you have userid it would succeed.
On the other hand if you have userid as the default format, you couldn't create to "bob" id's , even if they are on different post offices.
    --Morris
    >>> Morris Blackham<[email protected]> 4/17/2014 9:34 AM >>>
The REST API, which is how iManager plugin connects to the admin service, will reject creation of a user if it finds a conflict with any Internet Address that would be applied to the new user. Example:
existing user: ID = jsmith , firstname = John, lastname = Smith
New user: ID = JohnS, firstname = John, lastname = Smith
If you have first.last or last.first addressing formats enabled, the creation of this user would fail.
The error text returned by the admin service does have some additional info. I've written a defect to have iManager display the additional info to better troubleshoot issues like this

  • Total time saved: is 0

If I https to the management gui interface on one of our 274 devices and go to monitoring and select the CIFS tab, the total time saved is reading Zero.  This does not seem right because some of the other devices have a large number there??

    Hi Dan,
    Sorry for the delay.
    1. But looking at your issue, is this only related to CIFS? I mean, does it show up all the other statistics?
    2. Further, can you look at the CM and find out if it shows up on CM?
    3. If CM is also showing "0", any idea when it stopped pushing this to CM / WAE itself?
    3. Is this really optimizing CIFS in both directions?
    4. Do you see any alarms on this WAE? - show alarms OR sh alarms hist det
I am sure this information help us to point the problem. it seems like we have some reporting / statistics issue with this WAE. Have you done anything to correct this issue (like reloading, etc)?
    Thanks.

Check in either the iprint or imanager forums. There's a diff. TID you have to use to fix it.
After patching, you may have problems with iPrint Plugins in iManager on OES2 SP2. Check out TID #7005152. Youll have to change the property pages for two objects.

  • Two CIFS instances - clustered and unclustered

    NW65SP8, NCS1.8.2
Given a two node cluster from 'Node1' and 'Node2'.
Node 1 holds one unclustered volume 'data1' (because this volume will be mapped by some special clients via IPX). There's a CIFS share on that volume which works fine for some other clients (SLES).
Both nodes share two cluster resources 'pool1' and 'pool2'.
Now I have to add another CIFS share to the clustered 'pool1' which is at the moment physically on Node2.
I followed the TIDs and docs (Novell Documentation) and added the extension 'nfapCIFSConfigInfo' to the virtual server object.
Then I added the 'CIFS ADD .cn=pool1,ou=abcd,o=efgh,t=ijkl' and the corresponding unload command to the cluster resource load and unload script.
After that I tried to migrate the resources for the new CIFS commands to take effect. This leads to an comatoese state, I think because of unloading CIFS which is at this moment not loaded for the cluster resource failed.
So I removed the CIFS commands from the scripts and took the resource online again.
No I try at first to configure CIFS via iManager on the virtual server.
If I select the virtual server object, I was told CIFS is not running. Trying to start it has no effect (on the physically machine cifs is running).
If I now change from Tab 'general' to the Tab 'shares' and vice versa, iManager states CIFS is now running on the virtual server object.
Fine. I configure the virtual cifs server with the name 'pool1cifs', ip is 0.0.0.0.
Clicking Ok leads to an error: The parameters for CIFS_SetServerConfiguration are invaild for this server type....
Again CIFS is stated as 'not running'...
    1. Is it possible to have two instances of CIFS Servers on one physically machine (One for the unclustered, the other for the clustered resources)?
    2. If so, how to start CIFS for the virtual server object? Cifsstart will not work, I guess
    3. Am I doing something generally wrong?
    Tom

"Cluster nodes should never host unclustered resources, use a server outside the cluster for that or move that function into the cluster too"
The one volume which will be attached through IPX should be available just for a short time untill our development has migrated that very old, REXX-based application.
Could you explain why this configuration is a bad one?
"In fact cluster nodes shouldn't even have IPX available (as some workstations may get an IPX connection instead of IP, and then fail to fail over)"
This will not happen because the IPX-Clients are all virtual machines (OS/2) without IP
and all the physically clients don't have IPX configured.
BYTW: The problem is solved, it seems like a full stop at the end of the 'CIFS add ..' command in the resources load script is necessary (same at the command line)

  • Users logging on via CIF's lose login capability

Multiple Netware 6.5 sp7 servers, with CIF's configured to offer windows
shares to computers that do not use Novell Client.
For years now, I've been able to set up XP Pro x64, Vista Business (x86 &
x64) and Windows 7 (x86 & x64) systems so that they log in and map drives
via the "Net Use" command. For instance, if I have a Netware server located
at 10.10.20.5, it has a share named M_Drive and user BOB has been set up
using iManager so that he has access to said server and folder, I could map
a drive on one of the aforementioned systems by using the following command
    Net Use M: \\10.10.20.5\M_Drive /u:bob {bob's password}
Running that command would result in the appearance of an M drive on the
    workstation with Bob's access rights.
If you were to go to the Netware server that Bob just logged into and go to
the connections screen for the Monitor NLM (or access connections via Remote
Desktop) you would see that user BOB had a connection; however, no
information regarding the IP address that BOB was connected from would be
available. This connection would be the type that isn't preceded by a "*".
eg the connection is listed as "BOB.CONTEXT" as opposed to "*BOB.CONTEXT"
Anyways, starting yesterday, random users on my network are losing the
ability to connect using the aforementioned method. Bob will try to log in
and get an error message. Trying to access \\10.10.20.5 from Windows
Explorer returns an error. If I check Connections, I find that there are
multiple "*BOB.CONTEXT" connections, but no "BOB.CONTEXT" one. Clearing the
"*" connections will have no effect in permitting BOB to connect.
If I go to other machines, even ones with the Novell Client, and try and
login as BOB or use the aforementioned drive mapping technique, Iit fails.
If on a machine that won't allow BOB to connect to the Novell server I use
another users' name and password, the connection works.
Thus, the problem is at the Novell server and is particular to a given user.
The "problem" user will change from day to day.
If several hours later I try logging in as my problem user, it works.
    1) Anyone encountered a problem like this one?
    2) Is there a setting within Netware 6.5 sp7 which controls the length of
time that a disconnected user's connection is kept "live"? If the system
"naturally" eventually releases these problem users, maybe I can do
something to make the release happen earlier.
    3) Does performing a DSRepair sound like a good idea?
    4) Is the Netware 6.5 sp8 update still available? Wondering if installing
    that might resolve the problem.
I look forward to your response.

No. You've not, so far, provided any information that points to a problem
    in eDirectory.
    > 4) Is the Netware 6.5 sp8 update still available?
    Yes.
    > Wondering if installing that might resolve the problem.
It might. I'd certainly try it, and the post-sp8 updates, before spending
    much more time troubleshooting this.

  • Error in CIF while change in Material Group in R/3

    Hi,
I have assigned Material Group Description as an external field in Extra Tab in APO. When I create a material the CIF updates the filed correctly.
When I change the material group the CIF gives and error "Location does not exist for external location FR02, type , and BSG BSG1" where FR02 is my Plant.
When I delete the queue and re execute the IM the change is updated in APO.
Can someone tell me why the above CIF error appears for every change done.

    Nilesh,
It is common for experienced ABAPers to be able to determine this on their own.  Normally all you should have to do is explain in business terms what is happening, and the ABAPer should be able to troubleshoot the problem without you first discovering the code details for him.
There are a couple of ways to populate the aux fields in the SCM product master. The first userexit I would look at would be CIFMAT01 on the R/3 side.
    Best Regards,

  • Master data: maintain "Goods Issue Processing Time" in R3 and CIF it ?

    Hello,
we want to use the so called GIPRT (Goods Issue Processing Time) in the APO material master (Tab: GR/GI) to schedule SNP PREQs. I can maintain the field in APO but finally I'm looking for maintaining it in the conencted R3 material master (MM02). I see a field in R3 called MARC-GI_PR_TIME but after scanning the material master customizing I think you can't add that to any dynpro in MM01/02/03.
I wonder if this field (MARC-GI_PR_TIME) in R3 is truly meant for maintaining the Goods Issue Processing Time in R3 and transfering it to SCM via the CIF or whether its there but has no function or is maintained somewhere else in R3. Any idea ?
Workaround obviously would be to maintain the field in APO directly - but that's what I want to avoid since 99% of master data are coming from R3.
    Regards
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
You can implement user exit EXIT_SAPLCMAT_001 and can write code based on your requirement ( May be you want to transfer this GR time for some of the products only). You can push the values by this user exit for any field in APO.
    Thanks,
    Abhilasha

  • Problems with CIF (Logical system not assign to BSG)

    Hello,
We are sending all master data from ECC to APO. We set up the CIF in DEV and all worked fine. But when we try to send the data from ECC to APO in QA an error appears. It says that the logical system is not assign in the BSG. Apparently the configuration that we have in DEV is the same that we have in QA. The logical systems in all instances (DEV & QA) have the same name. Could this be the problem?
    Thanks,
    David

    Hi David,
    1) Check whether BSG is defined in customisation under the below
    link
SAP - Implementation Guide > Integration with SAP Components
         >  Integration via APO Core Interface (CIF)    >
Basic Settings for Creating the System Landscape   > Maintain Business System Group
    2) Check the BSG is assinged to the logical system under the
    spro transaction

         >  Integration via APO Core Interface (CIF)    >
Basic Settings for Creating the System Landscape   >
Assign Logical System and Queue Type
    3) Check BSG is showing in APO material master for a location
    product under "Properties" tab.

  • [SOLVED] Help needed with ACPI accelerometer - Acer Iconia Tab W501

    Hi,
I am trying to get the accelerometer working on my Acer Iconia Tab W501
In windows, it reported as a BMA150 device, so I have that driver loading on boot.
After months of googling and making a mess in /sys, I still have not got the device working. I was working under the assumption that the device hangs off the i2c bus, but a "lucky google" today uncovered that it is showing up through acpi - acpid is present in my daemons array of rc.conf and the kernel module acer_wmi is also loaded.
The device is certainly sending signals to the kernel. Upon boot, dmesg ends up as follows:
    [ 11.689709] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): wlan0: link becomes ready
    [ 12.108374] EXT4-fs (sda2): re-mounted. Opts: commit=0

    [ 22.459133] wlan0: no IPv6 routers present
Now, if I rotate the device, and run dmesg again, I have the following:
    [ 1255.189705] acer_wmi: Unknown function number - 5 - 1
    [ 1257.363688] acer_wmi: Unknown function number - 5 - 1

    [ 1308.784623] acer_wmi: Unknown function number - 5 - 1
acpi -V does not show the device:

nor is it configured on boot - dmesg | grep ACPI:

Yet, running acpi_listen generates the following when the tablet is rotated:
    PNP0C14:00 000000bc 00000000
    PNP0C14:00 000000bc 00000000
    PNP0C14:00 000000bc 00000000
    PNP0C14:00 000000bc 00000000
So, it would seem the device is working and sending data to the kernel/drivers, it appears some config is needed to get it properly recognised and an entry in /dev generated.
Really hoping there is an acpi expert around who may be able to help me get the device properly recognised and configures, ideally, as a /dev/input/js*
    Cheers.

There is no need to patch the kernel anymore as current kernels have the acer wmi accelerometer patch merged.
Ensure you have the kernel module acer_wmi loading and then the events should be propogated. acpi_listen should show the events.
Using the code from here: http://www.jezra.net/blog/Python_Joysti … ng_Gobject i have written a little daemon that monitors the accelerometer and automatically rotates the screen based on it's position.
    Cheers.
[EDIT] Being a laptop, I am guessing the accelerometer is possibly on the hard drive?? used for shock protection?? So if that is the case, I am not sure you will be able to utilise it in the same way as a tablet's accelerometer. There are articles on the web for setting up hard drive accelerometers in linux. The other consideration you need is that the accelerometer may not be on acpi. It could be on the i2c bus (commonly where sensors such as fan speed, core temps etc are located), in which case you will need the i2c driver to get the accelerometer events recognised in the kernel (ensure i2c kernel modules are loaded). So check exactly how the kernel detects the accelerometer, is it on acpi or the i2c bus?[/EDIT]

  • [SOLVED] Slow read speeds from a DroboFS mounted in fstab via cifs

I've decided to move all my media over to my drobofs which I have and I've mounted the share on the drobo in fstab this way:
    //mydrobofs/Media /media/drobofs cifs iocharset=utf8,uid=af,gid=users,guest,dir_mode=0775 0 0
The share is mounted fine at boot but my issue is now the read speeds are very slow. opening a video file with vlc takes 30 seconds or more before it starts playing. Before this was accessing the share on my drobofs via the network tab (samba shares) in Dolphin (using KDE4) and here the video files played immediately in vlc (no delay). The reason why I want to mount the share via cifs and fstab is to move music collection over to the my drobofs and since I'm using Amarok for managing my collection this is the only way to make Amarok see my Music collection on the Drobofs.
Why am I getting so slow read speeds with cifs?
Last edited by fettouhi (2012-05-07 05:54:00)

I did some more testing and seems like the problem has something to do with how many video files there are in the directory. I have some directories with several 100 video files and here I get this long delay but if I play a file that is in a directory by itself or only a few other video files are there, then the video starts immediately (almost). Is there a way to turn off this behaviour in vlc? Is it generating a playlist or what?
