FROM CHAT WITH YAHOO
Clark: Okay. We are receiving reports from other users having issues with the Mozilla Firefox such as chat features, etc. However, this only happens on the Mozilla Firefox and not an issue with your account itself as you are not having this issue using other web browsers
Clark: I would suggest that, in the mean time, try to use the Internet Explorer or Google Chrome if you are having issues using the Mozilla Firefox on your Yahoo! Mail page.

  • What is the best way to sandbox Yahoo Mail with Firefox?

I want to create a icon on a users desktop that launchs yahoo mail in it's own instance. (User profile I guess)
    Here's the background:
I volunteer with a local seniors citizens organization to provide free computer support to seniors on a limited budget. Many seniors use yahoo becuase it was what they learned to use way back when and don't want to change. It is widely known that yahoo accounts have been subject to a recent spree of hacking using exploits, some of which do not even require a user to click on a link. I have seen firsthand 5 incidents where separate individuals using separate computers have had yahoo accounts hacked.
One of my clients was an ATT customer, thus entitled to phone support. In a recent conversation with ATT support who uses yahoo for their e-mail services, they told me they are aware of the problem and the best solution is to logout of your yahoo account every time you are done using it. This is problematic for Senior Citizens who can't or won't remember passwords, they want it to just work.
I began thinking that there must be a way to protect a user from at least some of these exploits.
My finial idea is to create a desktop icon that will launch an instance of Firefox that is separate from the other websites that a user may be browsing. I think this could be accomplished using user profiles and some command line options.
    Any other ideas?
Extensions? I'm thinking of blocking flash and java on that instance too.

hello, first of all please make sure that firefox is up to date (version 20.0.1 at the moment) and that all plugins are updated to the latest version on the systems in question in order to fix known vulnerabilities...
[[Update Firefox to the latest version]]
    https://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/
you are right, you can use the [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles|profile manager]] in order to create a dedicated profile and then create a desktop shortcut for it. here are the command-line arguments for firefox.exe that will help you accomplish that: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Command_Line_Options
deactivating java and other plugins that are not necessary for emailing is certainly a good idea too. you could also use an extension like adblock plus together with a filterlist that blocks known malware domains: http://adblockplus.org/en/features

  • Cannot compose or reply using yahoo mail with firefox

I have done everything Yahoo says to do which is FF's solution to my problem, but it does not solve the problem
Yahoo mail works fine with IE & CHROME but with FF 33 & 34 it will not allow me to compose or reply to an email!
And the checkboxes with the icons inside have been there for MANY versions.
Sad that I will have to switch to Chrome or IE

I am suddenly having this problem with not being able to
    reply/forward to (certain Gmail conversations).
Now using, Mac OS 10.5.8 and experienced the presence of this issue with Firefox 3.6.10. AND 3.6.13 but not with Beta 4.
I have used Safari and the error is not reproducible. This issue is exclusively present to Gmail in FF.
I can confirm that FF config is presently dom.storage.enabled.
I have started FF in safemode, disabled, updated and enabled all plugins and add-ons, restarted FF and desktop many times, the issue is still present in FF 3.6.10/3.6.13.
Only some conversations cause this error. When I click on particular conversations reply/forward tab, the page freezes and the only way to temporarily resolve this, is to click the refresh icon as F5 will not work.
It does not freeze the whole
FF browser, just the window with Gmail.
I need a fix as FF is my primary browser.
    Thanks in advance! :-)

  • I cannot attach files to my Yahoo mail with Firefox 21. It works fine with IE.

Up till about 3 weeks ago I had no problems. Now when I try to attach any file to my Yahoo mail I get a red triangle saying 1 file cannot be sent. If I go to Explorer it goes right through. I tried all the stuff about deleting the history and cache and everything else but it still doesn't work.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

    @ Philly
    Yes there is,
When you recieve a mail with an attachement (inline or as a picture) right click (or control click) the attachement and choose "show as symbol" or "show fullsize" (or completely or something like that, I don't work in English version). Mail will take this as a general preference.

  • Can not load yahoo mail with Firefox but can with internet explorer

I have been getting: connection refused when trying to load yahoo mail from my firefox browser, but when I use internet explorer I can open my yahoo mail.

  • I cannot access my Yahoo mail with Firefox 6.0.2. I get "Bad Request"

I can access my email with Safari. I am unable to access it with Firefox 6.0.2. I have tried several times. I've reloaded Firefox twice to no avail.

Sorry, I had missed that you are on a Mac.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file <i>cookies.sqlite</i> that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> and <b>cookies.txt</b>, if they exist, in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

  • I cannot open Yahoo Mail in Firefox - It works just fine with all other browsers

When I try to open Yahoo Mail in Firefox, it times out.
    This happens every single day.
Every once in awhile I get lucky and get in, but again, I have to deal with this issue every single day.
Yes, I've dumped the cookies and Cache
Yes, I've switched to No Proxy
Yes, I go through straight links and not bookmarks
    Nothing helps.
Basically, if I want to get into Yahoo Mail, I have to open Google Chrome. Which has me thinking, if I have to open Google Chrome so often, why don't I just switch?
I'm a long time user of Firefox and would prefer to stick with it, but this is the kind of thing that will push me over to using Google Chrome.
    Anyone have any other suggestions?

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

  • When using yahoo mail on firefox, when replying to emails the first letter has started to not record/appear. not an issue with my clicking, rather firefox recording the letter/digit. this does not appear to be an issue on Safari or Chrome.

first digit typed when replying to an email on yahoo mail on firefox is not appearning. not an issue on safari or chrome browsers.

I believe that our “Werbung problem” adds an additional second hyperlink to the pop-up window. This second link is activated whenever you trigger a saved hyperlink to a Mail.com site.
I had the same problem and eliminated it by deleting all bookmarks, hyperlinks and automatic links that take firefox to a mail.com address. So I just deleted all bookmarks I had saved for mail.com. I also changed my home page link because it also went to my email at mail.com. I then did a warm boot, opened firefox and re-saved my bookmarks and homepage to the desired addresses. Good luck.

  • On Yahoo Mail through Firefox, the delete box, flag box, etc. are blank, only the person's email and subject are seen, but I can see it all with Internet explorers Yahoo mail

On Yahoo Mail, through Firefox, when mailbox opens, and I want to delete, the delete button is there, but not boxes below, next to the email I want to delete. Same when I flag an email, the flag is missing. There are blank spots on my mail page. Through Internet Explorer on Yahoo, everything is there, the delete boxes, the attachment symbol, etc.

  • Can access Yahoo, but can't open Yahoo Mail in Firefox. Can on Internet explorer.

Can access Yahoo, but Can't open Yahoo Mail in Firefox. Can open Yahoo Mail on Internet Explorer. Checked Password.

PROBLEM: This is the error I get when I simply try to open an email in Firefox. File not found Firefox can't find the file at http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/dc/blank.html?bn=555&.intl=us&.lang=en-US. * Check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors. * Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.
    POSSIBLE SOLUTION:
I contacted Yahoo and they had me clear (1) cookies and (2) cache. This did work so that I can now open the emails in Firefox.
    COMMENTS:
Yahoo support said "Please rest assured that Yahoo! Mail is properly working as of this time. It would be best if you contact Mozilla Firefox help support. They have the right tools and knowledge with the settings to access Internet Sites like Yahoo! Mail on Mozilla Firefox browser."
I'd like to know what to do to prevent this in the future because I've had this issue twice now in the last few weeks.

  • Why don't I see the 'Emoticons' and 'Format' tabs when composing a message in the new Yahoo Mail, using Firefox, but I do when using Internet Explorer?

I have been using the new Yahoo Mail on Firefox. But today I noticed that when I write an email (Compose/Reply/Forward), I cannot format it. Only the 'Attachments' tab is present, but the 'Emoticons' and 'Format' tabs are not.
But when I do it using Internet Explorer, all those tabs are present and I can format and do whatever.
Is there something wrong with my Firefox? I have restarted my computer, I have shut it down, but my Yahoo Mail remains problematic when using Firefox.

Firefox only allows you to save executable files. If you want to add an option to run them you can use the OpenDownload² add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/opendownload-10902

  • Trouble opening Yahoo Mail with Safari

Recently began having trouble opening Yahoo Mail with Safari.  I am continually asked to upgrade my Safari to a newer edition; however, when I do a software upgrade check it tells me I have the latest edition.  Anyone else having this trouble?

Your OS is way out of date and thus your version of Safari and Firefox are too. It would be wise to update Tiger using the combo update found here:http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_4_11_Combo_Update__PPC
Then you can further update Safari to it's current version using Softwareupdate from the Apple menu.
You can also use Firefox Help menu to update to it's current version.
To be safe run Disk Utility's repair disk function from your original install disk and repair permissions before and after the update from your boot disk.
    Good Luck,
    hpr3

  • Why can't I send links in yahoo mail?

When I paste a link in yahoo mail, the receiver doesn't receive it as a hyperlink and has to copy/paste it into their browser.

    Thank you.
I've restarted Firefox in Safe Mode as suggested and when I open the Yahoo Mail slideshow it works fine. I guess that tells me there may be a corrupted file somewhere. I'm just not sure how to go about finding out how to correct it. When I try to switch to the 'Default Appearance Theme' it won't allow me to do it while in Safe Mode. Should I be trying this AFTER I get back out of 'Safe'?
I don't keep any cache so I'm not sure how I can bypass it. I've tried reloading the mail inbox page by pressing "Command + Shift + R" but to no avail...
This problem just came up in the last two days, so I went back one week in my Time Capsule backup to reload a copy of Firefox from a time when I wasn't having problems - still no luck. The photos won't open in the slideshow preview on Firefox unless I'm running in Safe Mode.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions as to how to isolate the file or add-on that may be corrupted...
