No Closed Caption Option In QuickTime 7.02

I have a G5 with Tiger and QuickTime 7.02. I can not find any preference feature to turn on closed captioning. Should the captioning just pop up on its own? I thought QuickTime Pro cam ewith Tiger so I figure i dont need to buy it.

QuickTime 7 is an integral part of Tiger. The "Pro" features require a paid upgrade.
Could you post an example of a QT file that uses closed captioning (a simple text track feature) that doesn't work as it should?
Many times QT content creators put a different language as a text track file. You enable this from the "View" menu "Choose Language". The Pro upgrade is not required to view language tracks (if they are part of the movie file).

Why do I have subtitles over subtitles on some of my recently purchased Movies.? My closed caption option is turned off.
Recent purchases have been Avengers, John Carter, 30 days of night. All of them do it.
Please help me get rid of them.....

The subtitle only appears in the begining of the movie during the scene with the russians. The issue has been fixed where the subtitles appear doubled. Just a simple redownload from the cloud is needed. Make sure you delete the copy in the itunes library before redownloading. Heres the email I got today:
Dear iTunes Customer,
Thank you for downloading the movie The Avengers. Unfortunately, the movie you received may have had issues with the subtitles. We have corrected the problem and a new copy is available to download, free of charge. To receive the new version, please re-download the title from iTunes.
Before downloading the new version, remove the current version:
1) Open iTunes on your computer.
2) Click on your Movies library.
3) Click the movie to select it, and press the Delete key.
4) Click Delete Movie and then click Move to Trash.
To download the new version:
1) Sign into the iTunes Store.
2) Click Purchased on the right side in the iTunes Store under the QUICK LINKS section.
3) Click on Movies and select the movie you want to download.
4) Click the Cloud download icon to download the movie.
You will now have an updated version of the movie in your Movies Library.
To delete and download the movie from other devices, seehttp://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.

The option im looking for is "Untertiel" (german for Subtitle) as seen in this screenshot I made of the Tutorial Video
No if I try to do the same thing i get this:
The option "Untertitel" is simply not there!?!?! Why?
How can I get it?
As is said I use Adobe Premiere CS6 6.0.5 on my Mac
I would be sooo grateful for any help.
Best regards
Michael

Hi Michael,
The tutorial you are using as a reference point is for premiere pro CC.
However you are using CS 6 Premiere pro.
Closed captioning feature was introduced in Premiere pro CC.
I am afraid this feature is not present in CS 6 Premiere pro.
Thanks

• How to work on Closed caption option in adobe premiere pro x6?

Guys how to work on closed caption videos in adobe premiere x6 i have tried many times but could n`t get how to use this option?

In older versions of Premiere Pro, you are required to attach closed caption sidecar files to the Sequence. Here is one tutorial that runs through a possible workflow.

• Closed Caption options do not work while you using Premiere 7.2.2 in Mavericks 10.9.3

I cannot view/edit closed captioning (Tabs, Sequences, etc) files (QT DVCPROHD) that have Captioning attached using Maccaption. I'm using Premiere CC 7.2.2 on Mavericks 10.9.3.
Another editor can view and edit captioning in another bay on Premiere CC 7.2.1 on Mountain Lion 10.8.5. Is there a new bug?

Here are some other things to try, when you don't see closed captions in PPRO:
-- Check to see if the Monitors in PPRO are set to the right caption standard
-- Quit project and app. Toss any .prmdc files from Users:<User Name>: Library: Application Support: Adobe: Common:Media Cache Files
Relaunch PPRO and reopen project
Or when all else fails:
-- Go to the source file, rename the embeded caption name
Reimport the closed caption embedded file with the new name

• Cannot see Closed Caption options

Hi all,
I'm trying to create captions. I watched a tutorial on Adobe's website, but I don't see any of the options that I need (eg I don't have an option for a Captions window, and when I click 'New Item' I don't see an option to create a new caption). I'm a newbie so I'm sure it's something obvious I'm doing wrong - any help much appreciated.

Using CS6 version 6.0.3 on PC.

In CS6, caption support is limited to attaching a caption source to a timeline. You can see the captions in the Program Monitor, but you cannot edit them in any way through Premiere.
The features you're talking about were introduced in Premiere Pro CC.

• Use variables to create a custom Closed Captioning option

Hey,
I have a click box and text caption. On click of the click box I want to display a text caption and then on all slides throughout a project want that text caption box to remain on each screen, but want the content in that box to change per screen.
What's the best way to do this?

It is possible to do this but it's a bit involved because it requires that you run a check ON Slide Enter of each slide to find out if the CC captions should be displayed. And since those captions will be different objects on each slide, you'll need to set up a different Conditional Advanced Action for each slide. That's a lot of work just to replicate something that Captivate can do with its own CC text feature.
Here's one way to do it:
You place text captions that share the same style and size on each slide. Each caption should have the appropriate CC text for the audio on that slide.
Set up a variable to track whether the user has clicked the button to activate CC text, then set an Advanced Action to show the text caption on the slide where the user clicks this button.
For all the other slides, you need a separate Conditional Advanced Action to be executed ON Slide Enter to check the value of this CC variable and then SHOW the CC text caption if the variable is set to TRUE.
If you don't have too many slides in your project then this might be OK. But if you have a longish project with dozens of slides, you're going to get to hate this pretty quick.

• Unwanted closed captioning

I just bought a movie thru iTunes on my Apple TV and it has closed captioning. My closed captioning is turned OFF on my Apple TV but it remains on my movie and is very distracting. How can I make it so there is no closed captioning on my purchased movie? I use Apple TV a lot and this has never happened before.

I found the solution by mistake. Start your movie and press & hold the large button on your apple remote. This will bring up the closed caption option while your movie is playing. You can turn it off from this pop up window.

• Closed Captioning in Apple TV Rented Movies?

Is it possible to select closed captioning in Apple TV Rented Movies? I rented a movie and did not see the closed caption option. Is it possible that only certain movies have the closed captioning option, or none.
I would appreciate any information regarding this subject.

You can turn on closed captioning in the AppleTV settings. Go to Settings > Video.
It is possible that not all rented movies will have closed captions. It is up to the movie studio to provide CC with the movies files they give to Apple for hosting.

• Closed Captioning from TV

Ever since I switched to FIOS, I have not been
able to activate my Toshiba or Panasonic televisions'
closed-captioning option. When I turn them on from the
TV menu, there is no closed-captioning on the screen (only
the FIOS CC is working). Can someone help me, please?
Solved!

Closed captioning is activated on STB directly. Use the * button to goggle through options.

• Closed Caption Subtitles on Netflix via Apple TV

The Netflix website says that the show Dexter has subtitles. I have enabled the subtitles / closed caption options on my 2010 Apple TV. Yet they don't show up. Is it me? Did I missed something? Did I enable closed captions the wrong way? Is the Netflix website wrong? Thanks!

Netflix uses a proprietary system for subtitles. They have only released the software to show the subtitles on 4 platforms so far: PC & Mac Web Browsers, Wii, & PS3. They do not show on any other platform so far. Netflix says that other platforms, including AppleTV, are "Coming Soon" but no release dates are given. they are adding titles with subtitling to the catalog weekly. Total is now over 700 titles. Sadly, Netflix does not provide any type of search method to allow for searching of titles with Subtitles. I have developed a list of titles on my blog here: http://ncmacasl.blogspot.com/2010/10/netflix-instantwatch-titles-with.html

• Are video closed captions possible on iOS devices via Flash CS5.5?

Hello,
I'm creating a Flash video player with closed captions for my job and curious - if we buy Flash CS5.5 is it possible to save or port the video player with the closed caption option and have it work on iOS (iPhone/iPad) devices? We're trying to make all our current and future Flash video completely accessible to all users on all devices. If it is doable, any guidance received on how to do this is very much appreciated. If not possible is there any insight that this feature may be added to Flash CS6 or whatever it may be named?
Thank you,
:duane.

Hi,
Thanks for a speedy reply.
My app is basically a hybrid app (web app in a native container) When I was testing, the scrolling in my app did not work on iOS4 and the whole app was very slow but on iOS5.1 it was fine and very quick. I’m guessing the safari version made the difference.
I know it will get rejected if I submit it as they will test on iOS4 which doesn’t work well at all and I don’t want users using it on iOS4 as it’s a bad experience. I know I am probably going to reduce my installs if it’s only for iOS5.1 but its only a free App and I don’t see any option if on iOS4 it’s pretty much broken.
I really hope there’s an easy way or my last month’s work has been pretty much pointless.

• No more closed caption?

Hi...
The last couple of movies I've rented, didn't have the closed caption option. I just thought I happened to get a couple that simply didn't have the option. I made sure my preference/playback/subtitles were on, but then I started noticing.... that NONE of the movies I randomly checked had the Closed Caption option. I'm sure I used to use CC with iTune rental movies... did I miss something? I've got iTunes 9.0.3--is there a change as far as how to get to the CC that I missed?
Thanks

Hey Jim,
Yes, that's been done, also. At first, none of that was checked, but after I went and checked the appropriate boxes, shut down iTunes, then relaunched... I got to notice any any random movie I chose--didn't seem to have CC available. I can't believe that it's the luck of the draw that I just "happened' to chose movies that didn't have CC available... that's what I found odd.
Thanks for the suggestion

• Firefox needs closed caption video, when will you catch up with others?

Not all of your users are young and have excellent hearing. I was in WWII and can't understand the sound in your help video, therefore, can't find out about V4.
Other sites on the Internet have a closed caption option. A small CC icon in the lower right corner. Software for dictation of letters, or control of computers is readily available, which is what the others use.
I'm aware that the staff is mostly volunteer, but adding gimicks I don't want and can't learn about from your videos (that take time and energy to make) may drive me back to another browser, or forgive me for the thought, Microsoft!
Sorry for sounding like an old grouch, because I'm getting there.
How will the new deaf age: the Baby Boomers and younger that make boom boxes of their cars, be able to hear and understand your videos?

No, don't expect a reply.
If they had to acknowledge all the thousands of (good and bad) suggestions they receive they would be doing little else!
If you don't like Safari there are plenty of alternative browsers:
