No Color in Printed Documents

Greetings
I am running OS 10.1 with Quark 4 installed on the classic side
In the past I have printed out business cards with blue and black type, using Lucinda Handwriting and Skia fonts.
Today I went to print more, and not only is the skia font gone, but the printer only prints in black.
I have not changed anything as far as settings, as this is pretty much the extent of what I use classic for.
Any help in getting the pages to print back to two colors would be greatly appreciated.
The printer I am using is a canon i960.
Thanks for any suggestions

Will the printer print a color picture? This will verify the printer operation. If Yes, the problem lies elsewhere.
Could be caused by the missing skia font. Make a copy of the business card file & change the font to a different one. Now will it print OK?
 Cheers, Tom

  • Colors of the Icons in the Print Document Content Window

When you right click a single source layout and click properties and then click next it takes you to the Print Document Content Window, where you can take topics and by clicking the arrow that points to the right hand frame, move the topics into your print document.
I have seen posts on this forum where people talk about the colors of the icons on this screen. I have seen these icons colored blue, white and grey, but nowhere in the documentation or on these forums are the colors specifically documented, telling you what they really mean.
I have a situation where for one of my single source layouts, the colors of the topics on the left pane are blue and the colors on the right pane are white. Meanwhile, in another one of my single source layouts the colors on the left are blue, but the colors on the right are grey and that single source layout doesn't generate the topics that I want.
Can anyone explain to me what these colors mean, and if as I am thinking, grey means not there, why are they there in one single source layoput and not in the other?
Below are some screen shots that illustrate my issue.
    This is the bad screen.
and this is the good one.

    Hi there
The gray icons signify that the topics have been excluded by virtue of using a Conditional Build Expression.
The blue icons signify that the topics are included in the Printed Output.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Printing documents in color

I want to print documents in a color, rather than black, but I can't figure out how to make that happen.  I'm sure it is a small adjustment but I just can't seem to figure it out.  I've looked through the manual and gone through all the online help but with no luck.  Any help out there?
    Thanks!

What printer model? What operating system?  What program are you printing from?

  • Color Shift in document being prepared for printer

This is about a book cover design being prepared to send to printer. It was on the back burner for a year. Synchronised color settings in Adobe Bridge to North American Prepress 2. Cleaning up palette (added unnamed colors and threw out unused ones). Converted all colors in palette to CMYK. A placed photo from Photoshop remains in RGB.
Two color warning dialog boxes have kept popping up:
"The RGB settings in this document are different than your current application color settings."
"The CMYK settings in this document are different than your current application color settings. "
I usually don't change what I don't understand because I'm afraid of a color shift.
At one point, however, I think I did: It suggested I change the RGB setting to Adobe RGB. I think I selected Adobe Working RGB. Since this is a document with print intent, I didn't think it mattered if I changed the RGB setting. I think it was previously sRGB. Seed right -- the Adobe RGB is more appropriate for print documents, right?
To make a long story short, the client is now complaining that the new PDF is different from the PDF sent a year ago. She printed the PDF on her inkjet printer and it is different also. The colors of the document elements in the older document appear much brighter, while the photo seems more subdued. The new document, the colors of the document elements appear duller and look less saturated, while the photo seems brighter and more saturated. The client prefers the colors in the old version.
I sampled each of the colors in the old PDF and the new PDF and they are the same (with the exception of one element in the old PDF that is RGB). So I know the problem is how the software is interpreting the color values, not that the colors have changed.
How do I get back the old colors for the document, which is ready to send to the printer?
I'm ever grateful for any help I can get.

I think the reason why this question is asked often is because the FAQ entry is pretty lame and incomplete, especially for Mac users that by default have a color managed browser and by default have a screwed up rendering mechanism for untagged images.
Depending on your version of Photoshop, you can convert to sRGB before or during the Save for Web operation.

...I have been told that you are not supposed to embed the ICC profile in the document when saving for web because most monitors are untagged.
You convert to sRGB for the systems that do not fully support color management.
    and...
You include the sRGB ICC profile for the systems that do support color management.
Doing both covers your bum in most situations. You may choose to omit the ICC profile if you are working on common interface graphics that do not require strict color management. The ICC profile adds a few kilobytes to the file size that are not necessary on lesser graphic elements on a web page.

  • HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP printing & scanning problems

Ever since I purchased this multifunction color printer, it has been unreliable. My Mac Mini running the latest OS (currently Mavericks OX 10.9.2) will be printing and scanning fine, and then at some point it can't find the scanner, the printing slows to an amazing crawl, and then the printing stops altogether. I have repeatedly attempted to set up the printer under Preferences and have installed the latest drivers from the HP website. When that works, it's a short-term fix; eventually, the bugs come back. The darn thing won't scan or print again, and I'm pretty fed up. I paid a premium price for a premium color multifunction printer for my home, and it has been nothing but a problem. Help!

    Hello StoopBoy,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.
I see that you have an HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP being operated on a Mac 10.9.2. The CM1415fnw will not maintain a continual connection to the computer displaying errors and very slow printing. Since you have done a great job already troubleshooting the issue some of the steps I suggest will have already been done by yourself.
I suggest you take these steps to help resolve the issue:
    1. Reset the Printing Systems by following this Apple Document: Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system.
    2. Uninstall the HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP with this HP document: Uninstall HP printer software.
    3. Repair disk permissions on the Mac.
    4. Check for and install any and all updates on the Mac.
    5. Downlaod and Install the printer HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP software.
I hope this helps and will allow you to have more continual functionality with your Laserjet.
    Thanks,

  • Need a Color Laser Printer!

I am looking for a good quality color laser printer that is compatible with OSX 10.8.4.
Most times I will be printing text documents in B&W, but also do some graphics work and need good quality images.
Looking at the HP Laserjet Enterprise 500 Color M551DN and the Brother MFC 9560CDW
    Any thoughts??

Second nod for Brother. We have a monochrome laser of theirs. Very dependable, and much, MUCH cheaper consumables than HP.
The Xerox 6500DN also gets very good marks for the price. We had a 6280DN at one time, and it was also very good. The only reason we sold it was because we replaced it with a tabloid size Xerox 7500DN. There wasn't any need to keep both.

  • How can i use only black cartridge for printing documents

    Hi @sandeepv
I can help you with your print settings, so the printer will print black and white only.
If you have a Mac operating system, use the instructions below.
Printing with the Black Print Cartridge Only option
Click File and then click Print.
Make sure your printer is selected.
Verify that the Preset option is set to Standard.
In the Copies & Pages menu, select Select Paper Type / Quality.
NOTE:If this option is not available, click ColorSync. Then click the down arrow beside Quartz Filter and change the setting from None to Black & White.
    Select the Paper tab.
From the Color option menu, select Grayscale.
    Select the Color Options tab.
Select the Black Print Cartridge Only option.
If that option is not listed, then it is not available. The printer will print using only the black cartridge, however, printing with one cartridge will be slower than printing with both cartridges.
NOTE:To save the setting, click the arrow next to Preset and select Save As. Save the Preset option as Black Cartridge Only and then click OK. Then, the next time you want to print with just the black cartridge, select the Black Cartridge Only Preset.    -Source

  • Should I overprint to avoid white space between colors when printing?

    Hello all,
I hope I don't get slammed for posting the wrong way! But I'll try.
I print on a Summa DC4 thermal printer which prints one color at a time.
I am using Illy CS4 with a cmyk document, all vectors.
    My Question is:
Should I overprint to avoid white space between colors?
CMYK document (But only the YMK will print) which contains:
    100% black background (rectangle)
    0% (white) Copy
    and Red (star) -  100% yellow x 100% magenta
    printed on white vinyl.
the red object (star in this case) should bleed or overprint into the black background. Instead I get almost a white outline around the red star where the registration was minutely off.
How can I avoid this from happening? By setting the yellow & magenta to overprint? I don't want the black to subtract the red object (star)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Sincerely,
    C.

I am unfamiliar with the Summa printer, but it sounds like there is no built-in provision for trapping.
In that case, you should stroke the red star with the same color as the fill (100M + 100Y) and set only the stroke to overprint. That way, you still knock out the star area from the black background, but you've created the necessary spread trap to deal with the slight misregistration. Use the smallest possible stroke weight needed to solve your problem.

Hi  - Go ahead and try the steps in this document.  It will walk you through cleaning the contacts on both the cartridge and in the carriage.  What can happen over time is ink residue can accumulate on the contacts preventing the ink cartridges from working properly.  If this doesn't resolve the issue, try setting the cartridge with the nozzles face down on a damp paper towel for about 45 seconds just to resolve any problems with the ink nozzles.
    Hope that helps.

  • LaserJet 200 color MFP printer - one laptop can print while the other laptop at home can't.

My boyfriend and I set up the LaserJet 200 color MFP printer at home and installed the software on both our laptops.  I have a Dell Inspiron 700m and he's got the Lenovo T400.  I have been able to print any time from my laptop, but my boyfriend has only been able to print one document and after that there is a printer error and is not able to print nor troubleshoot.  I uninstalled and re-installed the software one more time, and again, he was only able to print one document and after that, printer error again (does not specify error).  Meanwhile, I continue to be able to print without a problem.  Anything I may be overlooking? Any help will be appreciated.

    What OS are you using?
Which of the LaserJet 200 series printers do you have? There are several in that series and I want to make sure I'm helping with the right one.

  • HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fn Color Multifunction Printer unable to connect to webapps, webforms

    Hello,
I'm able to print to my printer - HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction Printer - over my local network and the printer is connected to the router via wireless connection.  No connectivity issues as far as the local network goes..
The problem I'm having is that for the past week (perhaps longer but I only noticed it a week ago) I'm unable to download the web forms or web apps from the printer's screen menu.  I keep getting the message: Unable to connect to the network, please check your network connection etc etc etc.
I successfully printed to my hpeprint email address, so at least the printer is connected to the eprint network, but still can't access/download any of the web forms or web apps.
Has anyone experiencd this?  I'm really stuck, can't figure out what the issue could be seeing as how the printer seems to be working over the local network and am able to print documents that I send to me hp e-print email address.  Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated.  thanks in advance... Robert

You're lucky to have SOME ePrint functionality left! I got a new m177fw from HP and the printer simply won't enable ePrint. I get a constant connecting screen or connection error screen. There aren't any problems with my network and I spoke with a HP customer service representative over the phone and it seems they are clueless that ePrint is currently broken on HP's end.

  • Color Laser Printer: CMYK ink percentage

    Hello,
I'm buying a CMYK Color Laser Printer/Copier, and I would like to estimate the cost per print/copy.
The manufacturer of the printer claims that each toner allows the user to print 25,000 sheets in A4 format, at 5% coverage.
Yes, you read it right: 25,000 copies (*)
Is Illustrator able to show me the percentage of each color of a document?
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Enrico
(*) Solid Ink Technology - Bizhub C280 printer

Is Illustrator able to show me the percentage of each color of a document?
Pointless exercise.... Any such printer exclusively handles these things via its driver and you realyl have no way of exactly finding out how much toner it applies plus these printers always leave some of that stuff unused in the cartridge. Aside from that, you can simply assume that the actual number of printable sheets will be a lot lower. 5% coverage is really just text, most simple graphic designs are about 30 to 45% coverage. You will definitely not be able to print more than 10000 to 12000 such pages, if you use even more color you may end up around 7000.

  • Color Laser Printer suggestion?

I'm looking for a good color laser printer for between $500 and $1000 for a small office. Don't need an all-in-one. Just a good printer. Ideally, a Bonjour enabled model.
This'll be used with two PowerBooks and desktop G4.

There are more and more good ones out there every day. You will have to decide for yourself, but when I was looking for one, I was looking for:
    1. Good print quality.
    2. Good speed, both black & white and color.
    3. Duplex printing.
    4. The ability to handle envelopes reasonably.
    5. Reasonable cost of supplies.
    6. PostScript, although that is pretty much a given these days.
I got a Ricoh Aficio 2000N, and it had a feature that I really like:
    7. Paper tray capacity of at least a full ream.
Other factors to consider: Cost of extra memory, since your ability to print at the best quality may be limited by memory. Connection speed, if you are printing such documents. Footprint size of the printer. Paper sizes usable. Extra paper trays.
I hope this gives you a starting point.

  • The best COLOR LASER printer for my buck?

I have an HP 1012 black and white laser printer which works great! Only changed the toner once in two years.
But now I need a good color laser printer that can print decent quality color photos. At least good enough for my band's fliers on glossy paper.
    Does anyone have any reccomendations?
    Thanks in advance!

If you read this recent thread, you will find my musings on the subject.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=641100&tstart=0
Keep in mind that how you intend to use the printer will affect your choices. If you are interested in photos, print quality is an issue. The number of pages you expect to print per month may determine whether you can get by with a personal printer or if you will need more of a business printer. If you are printing a lot of colored pages, faster printing of color documents is a step up in price. Make a list, check the specs from the various manufacturers, including the price of consumables, and you should be able to make an intelligent decision.

  • Compatible Stationary Color Laser Printer:

Which printers that are color laser printers
with stationary cartridges (cartridges that do NOT move when printing) lol.
that are compatible with Apple Mac OS 10.4.11
    AND
    A Power PC G3 Processor????????????????
I have a Samsung CLP 300 Color Laser Printer with stationary cartridges ("NO-NOIS")
But the software says "Sorry this software requires a G4 Processor which this system does not have".
    Very Annoying. }=[
It works...but the printing comes out terrible. Everything is smashed together on the left side of the page. Whether it is text or images.
I recently learned that Samsung, even with their "NO-NOIS" stationary cartridges, has very limited Mac compatibility. =[ It is just like google software. (excellent software but not made for macs).
I do not care if the printer is big or not. I just want a compatible color laser printer with not moving cartridges. (I had an HP color laser printer with moving cartridges...which is the component that broke). So which printers are similar to Samsungs, but with better compatibility????????
I have an idea that makes sense: Since I am using Apple computer, then why not connect an Apple Printer???? lol. I can get an "old" Apple Color Laser Printer. However, do the cartridges move? I hope they do not move.

    Very Important Update!!!!!!! =] =] =] =] =] =] =] =] =] =]
I got it to work. I had it plugged into the original USB 1.0 ports and all I did was plug it into the USB 2.0 PCI Card that I added to it recently.
And that is all that it needed. Everything prints perfectly... word processor documents, images, and anything else. So this means that whenever I need to get a color laser printer I will just get anything that I can find on ebay. ( I am going to put a color laser printer for each desktop and perhaps a few for the laptops when I repair them. ) I am very happy about this; I was probably going to have to spend $400.00USD for a confirmed compatible color laser printer but now I don't have to worry about that expense. I really like color laser printers because they are easier to print because the fused toner won't run like ink would. I have HP PSCs, which print (in ink) so I don't use them to print, only to scan...so I have one connected to a USB 2.0 port and I am downloading software to see if it will scan. I am probably going to post a question about scanning... but this question about printing has been solved. =]
