No configured airport base stations have been found

I just purchased a new Time Capsule and tried to set it up according to the included instructions. After the initial set up Airport Utility give the following error message: "No configured AirPort base stations have been found. The only way I can connect to the Internet is wirelessly with a Verizon MiFi wireless modem. Could this be the problem? If so, is there a way to configure the TimeCapsule as a backup only drive?

I think.. you will get nowhere fast using v6 utility.. you must use the older utility.. 5.6.
Apple have so dumbed down v6 as to make it useless.
There are plenty of posts about how to install 5.6 under ML. I don't think it is that hard.
Download the 5.6 dmg.. open the pkg.. then extract the files from the pkg.
There is a free utility to do this.. as well as shareware Pacifist.
http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Simply load the files manually and then run it..
I am about to try it myself but confess it has not yet happened.
Make sure the TC is different IP range to the main router..
Set static IP in the computer and it must work. By all the TCP/IP I have ever learned it has to be available to the computer.. but I will test myself.

Bought new TimeCapsule March 2013. Worked fine. Now get "No configured AirPort base stations have been found."  I can see the content of the TimeCapsule's drive in finder and Time Machine but it no longer is making backups. Ideas?

Make sure that you have AirPort Utility 6.3.1 installed on your Mac.
AirPort Utility 6.3.1 for Mac - Support - Apple
Then, power off the entire network...all devices...in any order that you want
Wait a minute, then start the modem first and let it run a full minute
Start the next device connected to the modem, which may be your Time Capsule and let it run a minute
Keep starting devices one at a time the same way until the entire network is back up
See if AirPort Utility can "see" the Time Capsule now.
If yes, try another backup. If you encounter an error message, post back with the exact message.

  • No configured Airport Base Stations Have Been found-but we are connected?

    Okay,
Here is an odd one...actiontec DSL Modem/Router with Airport Extreme. I applied the update, and was having problems with my external hard drive being recognized, so I reset everything-modem and airport. Now that I have, when I launch the Airport Utility, I get a message that no configured airport base stations have been found. Weird thing is I am connected, transfering files, etc. I just cant access my airport to set up my printer and time machine capsule...any suggestions?

My Mac was working perfectly fine till about a week ago.It would not connect to the internet or anything.I  swapped my computer out clean and still nothing so i gave up since I am new to the Mac. The next morning i turned it on and it worked perfectly fine. That night it started disconnecting me from the web every 5-10 mins but the funny thing was it kept saying i was connected to the internet. I have to keep turning off and back on my Wi-fi for it to work right & even doing that does not solve the problem. I went to my time machine to try to system restore my computer to an earlier date and it does not work. The airport utility comes up and says no configured airport base stations have been found.Airport utility will continue searching. I have no clue what Airport Utility even is when i got my computer furnished threw the college I was going threw at the time everything was already set up on it. The Wi-fi connected instantly. I have a MacBook Pro (OSX) with this software OS Lion. I don't have the money to get it professionally fixed so trying fix this issue on my own. Would a factory reset solve the problem?.

  • My TP-LINK TD-W8970 router cannot connect with my iMac even though my iPhone 5, iPad 3, W7 laptop and LG smart TV can. I get the message "No configured AirPort base stations have been found". Any ideas please?

My iMac cannot connect to my TP-LINK TD-W8970 router even though all other computers can. I get the message "No configured AirPort base stations have been found" and "No PPPoE configurations were found". Any ideas please?

Open the Network pane in System Preferences. If there's a closed padlock icon in the lower left corner, click it and enter your administrator login password when prompted.
At the bottom of the service list on the left is a popup menu with a gear icon. From that menu, select
              Set Service Order...
A sheet will drop down showing all listed services. Drag the one that you want to use to connect to the Internet to the top of the list. Click OK to close the sheet, then close the preference pane and confirm when prompted to save the change.

  • HT1218 my time machine no longer appears in airport utility "No configured AirPort base stations have been found."

my time machine no longer appears in airport utility "No configured AirPort base stations have been found."

Basic troubleshooting: start with a "hard reset" - hold its reset button depressed continuously, about five seconds, until your TC's LED flashes rapidly. After a moment or two it will flash amber, slowly. You will then need to reconfigure it using AirPort Utility.
This does not affect your Time Machine backups.
If its LED remains illuminated amber without blinking after several minutes, it may have a problem you will be unable to fix. In that event, try another "hard reset".

  • What can I do when saw this? "No configured AirPort base stations have been found"

What can I do when I saw this? "No configured AirPort base stations have been found"
My Time Machine is not working. And is not connected to my computer.

Did you update the firmware.. this seems to happen a lot.
Do a full factory reset and start over.. this is easier with it pulled from the network.. plugged into a computer by ethernet.. then do the reset and when you finish put it back in the network again.

  • No Airport base stations have been found

I can't see 2005 (cone shaped ) Airport Express in Airport Utility of my MacMini. My other devices (MBA, IPad, IPhone etc) they all see Apple Network xxxxxx and are connected to the Internet while Mac Mini isn't. In the AirPort Utility of of my MBA Airport Express (and Time Capsule) are grey with exclamation mark in yellow triangle with the warning "device not found". Originaly I "lost" Airport Express on my Mac Mini after I have turned power off/on on Airport Express but at that time my other devices could see Airport Express and Time Capsule. However afte hard reset whole network went off. I have tried to File\Configure Other in Airport Utility by inserting IP address 10.0.1.1 but I got following message "An error occurred while reading the configuration".

6.0 of the utility isn't used to configure those obsolete domes, that's probably why it requested you to get 5.6.
Also, expresses have a limit on how many devices can connect to them at the same time, so that could be what's happening here and why your mini loses sight of it.  I'm not sure what the limit is of those domes right now, but even for a modern N-type express, it's only 10.

  • Trying to set up airport extreme. Blinking amber light but airport utility says no configured base stations have been found. Have unplugged base and reset.

I have tried to set up airport extreme base stations but keep getting blinking amber lights. Have unplugged and reset. No base station prompt noted in the airport utility window. Internet connetion noted (Green light under globe icon)

    Are you using 6.0 here?
What kind of AEXT are you using?

  • Airport Base Station No Longer Found in Network

Since applying the 10.5.2 upgrade yesterday my home network, routed via a cable modem and a formerly dependable original Airport Base Station, is no longer recognized by Airport Utility... and the Airport icon in the finder is continually scanning. I have found, however, that my network shows up as an available option in Network System Preferences...with a Connected status and an IP address (10.0.1.3).
I can connect to the internet and read email from my main iMac because I am also connected directly via ethernet, but my laptop can't find the Airport base station, either. I have reset, unplugged, restarted, check connections and cables, etc. Both Macs easily find my Airport Express, however. I'm concerned the new update no longer supports the original base station...
On another (unrelated?) note, my external backup HD (250GB Seagate), connected by Firewire, is now recognized as "Read Only," whereas it has always had read/write permission (confirmed in Get Info). So now my backup is failing, too. Sorry to introduce a new topic, but I'm frustrated!

Firmware is uploaded onto the base station itself and is different from AirPort Utility. Although you probably cannot confirm it without connecting to the base station, I think it highly unlikely that you use a firmware version earlier than 6.1.1 (which came out in 2004). If newer firmware is contained in software on your computer, AirPort Admin Utility and/or AirPort Utility should have prompted you to upload it to the base station, whereas if it is not on your computer, Software Update (assuming you use it) should have prompted you to obtain it. Even if your firmware is older than version 6.1.1, the reset procedure is virtually the same--in that case, you won't see the AX's status LED flashing rapidly a few seconds after you start holding the reset button, and you will just need to hold the reset button for 10 full seconds.
Once you connect to the base station, you should be able to see the firmware version (e.g., "Base Station Vx.x" where x.x is the firmware version) on the opening screen of AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow, when the base station is highlighted. I imagine that AirPort Utility shows similar information. I believe that in AirPort Utility, you can also check to see if newer firmware is available from Apple (choose "Check for Updates" in the AirPort Utility menu). To the best of my knowledge, the most current firmware version for AirPort Express is 6.3.

  • Cannot configure AirPort Base Station (Graphite).

    Greetings,
let me describe my problem - I can connect to my Base station's network without problem. But when I run AirPort Admin Utility, it never even see the station. Airport setup assistant sees it, but what ever you did with this appl, it only ends with some error message - couldn't connect etc.
In total despair I went to my old iMac where is 10.4.10. I haven't run software update there for some time. iMac can both connect to network and configure the station with Airport admin utility...
Im out of ideas... But I need to be able to configure station from my iBook as well.
    Thanks for any ideas.

I might have wrote the type of station wrong... Anyway, for all cases, here is the link where you can see picture of my station model, which should clear all doubts.

  • AirPort Utility 6.3.2 doesn't see older AirPort Base Station

I have an old AirPort Base Station (2001 model, Dual Ethernet, "Snow", actually not "Graphite", though apparently that's the correct category here), which was previously configured with my MacBook Pro running MAC OS X 10.6.8. I've just started it up, with the DSL modem connected to it, and I'm able to connect to it (and get Internet) from my new MacBook Pro running 10.9.4 just fine. However, the latest AirPort Utility v.6.3.2 doesn't see it, says "No configured AirPort base stations have been found. AirPort Utility will continue searching." – although its window does show a green button next to the word Internet, showing (I assume) that there's an Internet connection. Does anybody know how to configure an old APBS like this from 10.9.4? AirPort Utility v.5.6.1 apparently can't be used with 10.9; is there a version that can, and will see this older AirPort Base Station?

Does anybody know how to configure an old APBS like this from 10.9.4?
Not in any way that Apple would support, or that we could discuss on this forum.
Not recommending that you try a solution from the Internet using an "unknown" author to "override" security settings on your Mac, but that would be the only way to possibly get AirPort Utility 5.6.1 to run on 10.9.4.

  • Airport base station lets Mac print but stopped letting my PCs print, why?

The only thing I've done differently lately was download the new upgrade for OSX, which was yesterday. Up until now, my airport base station has been operating fine. I have it directly connected to my G4 and also use it for my Sony wireless laptop (new) and a Sony desktop (new). The desktop is located in another room and connects via Airport Express. The laptop is on my desk, next to my G4. The printer is by my G4 and laptop. And the Airport Extreme is on the wall above my monitor.
Anyway, yesterday, about halfway through an 11-page document, the printer stopped printing to my laptop. It will print, btw, if I unplug it from the Airport Extreme, reconfigure the port from an IP/TCP and plug it into my laptop. What would cause it to stop printing via Airport Extreme? My DSL Internet connection still works on all four computers.
My printer is an HP color laserjet 2550L. I called Hewlett Packard this morning and talked to customer support. I was informed that HP does not support network connections and could not help me because I was using a Mac product, the Airport Extreme. So I asked, what if I wasn't and directly connected the printer to my PC? So they explained how to configure the port for my printer, and it does print now, but it won't work on the Airport Extreme.
I also restored my PC to the way it was last month, just in case I had downloaded something that interfered, but that did not help the situation.
I also tried using emulation software that let me go to a Windows-based Web site through Citrex on my Mac, and I could access the Web site on my Mac, but I could not print. It prints otherwise from my Mac, though. This is just the weirdest thing.
Do you think my Airport Extreme is defective? It's pretty new. Maybe 2 or 3 months old and has worked fine up until now.
G4-466 and Sony PC Laptop   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   Also Windows XP

Have you upgraded the firmware in your airport extreme?
Also, you may want to consider installing Bonjour for windows on your windows machine and set up the printer via the Bonjour printer configuration.
The most recent firmware for the airport extreme can be found here: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airportexpressfirmwareupdate63formacosx.h tml

  • HT1178 No config Airport base station in airport utility

Having problems configuring Airport Time Capsule. AirPort Utility displaying No configured AirPort base stations found.
Worked initially but no longer backing up.

Try just a simple restart of the TC or restart of the network.. in order .. modem.. wait 2min.. TC.. wait 2min . then the client computer.. see if the TC reappears. if not you will need to do a hard or factory reset and start over. It is common enough on Mavericks to lose its marbles.. a good reboot will usually remind of it of where everything is.
Make sure ipv6 is set to link-local for whatever network client is being used.. that means setup in the computer.
And I do recommend using short names on the TC.. not apple names..
Keep names to <20characters.. <10 even better.
    No spaces.. and pure alphanumeric.

  • AirPort Base Station Agent active but I don't have an AirPort Base Station

    hello.
Activity Monitor shows AirPort Base Station Agent active although I don't have an AirPort Base Station. I have a router named Speedport. Does my mac consider that an AirPort Base station, or is the Agent running idle (consuming 779,60MB Diks Space VM in vain) ?
    thanks

It is my understanding that the AirPort Base Station Agent performs the function of checking for updates to the AirPort base stations by contacting the Apple distribution (akamai?) servers. There is a configuration setting in the AirPort Utility to enable/disable this feature. It is installed either by the CD provided with the base stations, or (I believe) it comes with the Leopard OS.
