No connection on Desktop - WRT110

I've been using the WRT110 router for about 1 month now and have had no problems, but now I am unable to connect to the internet from the desktop directly connected to the router. Background information - Today I was supposed to work from home for the first time. The notebook had a great connection, but was unable to use the internet for whatever reason. I spoke to the company's help desk and after many failed suggestions, they told me that some people have success when they lower their security settings. I thought turning off the firewall might do something, but did nothing. I turned it back on. A little while after I noticed the internet was no longer working (light is off) on the desktop. I'm not sure it was like this before or after I made the switch. I called verizon and they directed me to Linksys as they saw no problem on their end. Then I noticed that the other computers still have the internet. Since then, I've been screwing around with my network, maybe making things worse. Right now my ipconfig says: IP Address 192.168.2.1 Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 IP Address fe80.20c.6eff.fea2.ab2b%6 Default Gateway 192.168.1.1 The other two computers connected wirelessly are fine and the internet is working on them. I'm sorry to bother you folks with such a mundane question, but I couldn't find a similar topic and was hoping giving all the information I know would help.

The IP address is different from the Default Gateway check under Local Area Connection that the IP settings should be in the Automatic Configuration ..... not using Static configuration ..,.
If so then click on Automatic Configuration & click Apply  .....

Can someone advise me.   I have a new Desktop upstairs,  and the Hub downstairs.
I could use a wireless key - but am not confident the signal will be strong enough,  so am investigating my options.
In the Desktop room upstairs I also have a spare phone socket.   Can I use one of the BT Microfilters into the phone socket and connect the Desktop into the microfilet it via an ethernet cable ?
Would that then pick up the internet.....
Please can someone give me some advice.....

I personally would not recommend the Power Line plug options unless you have clear evidence of  good interference suppression see

The HH is permitted to use up to 100 mW EIRP for the transmitter and this should be OK for the normal house. See

Mine is upstairs with some 50ft of extension cable from the master socket downstairs.    I have, in any case, seen two neighbours HHs and some four routers from my house at one time.

  • Help! Playbook OS upgrade blew me away - cannot connect to Desktop SW anymore

I got notice of an OS upgrade and accepted it.  After upgrading the OS and upgrading the Desktop and Driver on my Win 7/64-bit laptop, I can no longer successfully connect my Playbook to the Desktop Manager on my laptop.
    OS is 2.0.1.358
    BB Device Manager is 7.0
BB Desktop SW is 7.2011 (Bundle 38)
I have done everything I can thing of, rerunning the process 12 times without joy.   My Playbook says, "Connected to Computer" and I can see the CD directory, but the Desktop SW says, "Disconnected" no matter what I do.  I have tried multiple USB cables, rebooted both the PB and the laptop numerous times, yet each time I attempt to connect, the Desktop SW says "Disconnected."
I am hoping, since I made sure not to check the box to delete everything when I reinstalled the Desktop SW, that the pictures and apps I had installed on the initial version of 2.0 have not been tossed.  Apparently, the AppStore does not keep track of what apps I have bought or installed previously, so I think they are all lost forever.  I can reload many of the pictures I had on it before, but some I haven't transferred may be lost forever.  I am not seeing a "safety net" - heck, my Amazon account remembers everything I put on my Kindle.
I had been doing a full backup via the Desktop SW every week, just in case, but if reinstalling the Desktop SW dumped everything I am going to have to find a safer and more reliable means of backing up in the future.
If you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate hearing them.  I really would like to get my PB back into working order, preferably with all the apps and pictures I had on it before...

  • Connecting to desktop error message

My Blackberry Curve 9300 regularly reverts to a screen saying 'connecting to desktop'.  The phone then 'freezes' on that screen and I cannot do anything and the only solution is to open the back, remove and replace the battery and wait for the phone to reboot.  This seems to do the trick but it's happening quite frequently which is a major nuisance, particularly since the reboot process takes such an age.  Is there anything I can do to stop this happening?

Hello bedbeck and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
What version of the Desktop Software are you using?
Does your Desktop Manage produce an error message or does it reposed and your device freezes? If you get an error message, can you please provide the full error you are seeing?
    Thanks!

  • Why iPhone, iPad, iPod cameras don't connect to desktops/laptops /macmini,

why iPhone, iPad, iPod cameras don't connect to desktops/laptops /macmini, why... ...
Mr. jobs would hv helped me
it it just so simple ...these people are working on icloud, photostream etc etc
think .....if we have a wireless link with the camera of iphone we can record movies and carry out editing at the same moment on desktops that too wirlesssly
its just like have a one way facetime with our desktops......wow
eventually apple people will come up with this same idea later some time
but the question is why it doesnt connect why?

    They do.
Standby = press the Power button
Power off = Press and hold Power button then slide the red power off slider.
Reset = Press and hold both Reset adn Home till you see the Apple logo.
This option will help to avoid pressing power button less number of times and gives better user experience.
Because it is better to not push the power button and more enjoyable to not push it?

  • Error-6753 when trying to connect my desktop PC

I just replaced my old wireless router with a Time Capsule Wireless N router and it works great wirelessly with my MBPro and MB, but trying to connect my desktop PC with the ethernet cable is not working. I cannot connect to the internet and the utility is not working, I keep getting the error code-6753. I set up the wireless network first, and then tried to connect the desktop PC. Can anyone help? I ran the disk and installed the utility and through that is where I am getting the error.

The utilities, provided on the CD, are not required for the PC to access the Internet through the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn). They are only necessary for administering the base station.
If your PC is currently configured as a DHCP client, it shouldn't have any issues connecting by Ethernet. The AEBSn will assign the appropriate IP addresses required for connectivity to the Internet ... just like it does for wireless clients.

  • Playbook will not connect with Desktop Software

Playbook won't connect with desktop software any longer. Seems to have started after latest update to 2.0. Still working fine with my Torch 9810, but not with the Playbook. I even tried reinstalling the Desktop software, but no go. Tried to "forget" Playbook, but now I can't even add it as a device any longer!

possible you need to uninstall Device Manager, not Desktop Software.
Disconnect the PB from the computer.
    Uninstall the Device Manager.
Reboot your computer (for good measure)
Connect the PB using the USB cable.
Now you should see a PlayBook CD-ROM.
In that CD-ROM you will find version 7 of the Device Manager, install it.
Once installed disconnect the PB from the computer.
Wait for about 15 seconds then plug it back in.
Windows should detect new device and start Device Manager. It may take up to two minutes for windows to detect and properly install.
Then device manager will map 'z' drive to the PB.

Hey guys. My BB 8900 wont connect to desktop manager on my Mac. This seems strange to me, as my bold 2 connects fine. Here is the problem:
    - Connect BB, desktop Manager asks for device password
    - Enter Password
    - Device Manager says "connecting"
    - Then it stops trying to connect
Any idea what could cause this?
BTW - mass storage mode is on

  • Using external hard drive connected to desktop as time machine disk for laptop

I recently purchased an external hard drive for the purpose of backing up my laptop and desktop macs. Both are running Mountain Lion (10.7.5). The desktop is physically connected to both the hard drive and to my modem. I have enabled pretty much every sharing option on both the laptop and desktop. When my router crapped out I began just using the internet sharing capabiilty.
I have been able to chose the desktop as the disk for backing up my laptop, but I want to use the hard drive (connected to the desktop) as the disk. I cant figure out how to do this yet. I can easily access the hard drive by using either the "connect as user" option. I thought that perhaps I could broadcast the connection somehow as an airport connection, but I don't know how to, or if this is even possible.
The desktop is a mac mini, and the laptop is a macbook pro. Both were purchased in mid 2011.
