No connection to Wi-Fi in Chile?

I bought my MacBook 2,5 in the Netherlands (Europe) and it worked perfect!
Now I live in Chile (south-america) but I cannot get access to the Internet (Wi-Fi), 1,5 I could in Chile!
Is it possible the hotel I stay now has a password now to get acces by Wi-Fi and it did not have a password in 2006?
Eduard

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Yes. I would ask the hotel manager where they have located the wireless routers. The antenna of a MacBook, unlike some other notebooks is inside the machine, which makes its reception sometimes a little weaker. Get iStumbler to verify the connection just is too weak to appear in the airport menu, which it sometimes can be. You may also need Firefox as some WiFi routers require a web browser login instead of the airport software to login, and they don't support Safari for the initial login, but will work with Safari once logged in.

  • No connection with my Skype number - Chile

    Hi,
    I have paid for a online number from Chile (currently living in Australia) and it has been working propertly until last week.
    However, my family now is unable to contact me to that number. I know that in Chile was implemented a change in the way you call national numbers, you have to add the digit 2 in front of your number.
    Please your help,
    Regards,
    Jose.

    Your post was a great help to me. I have not been able to connect to Chile for a few weeks, even though I have paid for a subscription. The online support agent from skype was not able to help me either.
    I tried putting a 2 in front of the number i wanted to call, and it worked.
    Thanks very much.

    I live in Chile and would like to watch movies from my MacBook to my JVC HD Television.. What cables do I need to purchase to do this?

    You'll need a Mini-DVI adapter for the MacBook 4,1 and the iMac 8,1 and a cable from that to your TV. Here's the various types of Mini-DVI adapters on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=min i-dvi&x=9&y=13
    (Composite is the red, white and yellow RCA plugs on your TV or red, white and S-Video plugs.)
    You'll also need audio cables to the TV using a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the Composite. You attach it from the headphone jack of your MacBook to the appropriate audio input plugs on your TV.
    If you connect the MacBook using a Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo system for audio if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini-DVI to HDMI doesn't carry audio and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.

  • MACBOOK DON'T CONNECT WITH LG FLATRON LCD DISPLAY

    Hi friends!
    I bought a LG FLATRON LCD DISPLAY Model M1994A.
    My Macbook 13" have a 10.5.6 Leopard.
    The fact is when connect de Macbook with LCD screen thru VGA cable and miniDVI adapter. Plug the miniDVI adapter, and the screen of Macbook blinking forever at the blue screen; the lcd has the message "NO SIGNAL"
    If I unplug the miniDVI adapter, everything gets back to normal on the macbook screen. I plug it again, I get the blinking blue screen.
    Tried rebooting, unplugging everything else from the external screen, no luck.
    If I boot the macbook with the external screen on and the macbook closed, then it is recognized a little bit: appears the apple boot screen then blinking, but when I want to use both screens, it will blink again.
    HELP ME PLEASE!!!
    Regards from Chile!

    May not be any help but, I have the LG W1952TQ and it works great with my MacBook. You may try going to system prefs, click on displays, then click on Detect Displays and see if that works, I had to play with the resolutions some and ended up selecting 1152 X 864 setting for mine.
    Hope this helps ya,
    Barry

    The data model you posted (org_unit_id as primary key, parent_org_unit_id as foreign key to the same table for the parent, when there is a parent) is called the Adjacency Model because it keeps track of which nodes are adjacent (or next to) each other.
    I'm familiar with 2 other ways to model hierarchies: the Nested Sets Model, and what I call the Lineage Model.  I'll show how to find a given node's ancestors (in hierarchical order) in each model.  Neither the Nested Sets nor the Lineage Model requires CONNECT BY or recursive WITH clauses to work.
    The following table contains all the columns necessary for using each of these 3 models:
         EMPNO        MGR ENAME      LINEAGE                    NS_LOW NS_HIGH
          7839            KING       /7839/                          1      28
          7698       7839 BLAKE      /7839/7698/                     2      13
          7499       7698 ALLEN      /7839/7698/7499/                3       4
          7900       7698 JAMES      /7839/7698/7900/                5       6
          7654       7698 MARTIN     /7839/7698/7654/                7       8
          7844       7698 TURNER     /7839/7698/7844/                9      10
          7521       7698 WARD       /7839/7698/7521/               11      12
          7782       7839 CLARK      /7839/7782/                    14      17
          7934       7782 MILLER     /7839/7782/7934/               15      16
          7566       7839 JONES      /7839/7566/                    18      27
          7902       7566 FORD       /7839/7566/7902/               19      22
          7369       7902 SMITH      /7839/7566/7902/7369/          20      21
          7788       7566 SCOTT      /7839/7566/7788/               23      26
          7876       7788 ADAMS      /7839/7566/7788/7876/          24      25
    The Lineage Model keeps track of all of a given nodes ancestors, so if all you need to find are the primary keys of a given node, it's really trivial: it's all in the lineage column.  If you want to find more information about those ancestors, then you can do a self-join, like this:
    SELECT    a.empno, a.ename, a.lineage
    FROM      emp  a
    JOIN      emp  d   ON  d.lineage  LIKE '%/' || a.empno || '/%'
    WHERE     d.ename  IN ('ADAMS')
    ORDER BY  d.ename
    ,         a.lineage
    Output:
         EMPNO ENAME      LINEAGE
          7839 KING       /7839/
          7566 JONES      /7839/7566/
          7788 SCOTT      /7839/7566/7788/
          7876 ADAMS      /7839/7566/7788/7876/
    The Nested Sets model is harder to understand.
    Imagine everyone in the hierarchy standing on a wide staircase, as if for a group picture; everyone on the same level standing on the same step.  Everyone is holding up an umbrella that is wide enough to cover himself and all the people who are under him in the hierarchy.  The people with no underlings have small umbrellas, denoted like this "<-SMITH->", and peole that manage others have bigger umbrellas, like this: <-------- JONES -------->.  So the group picture might look like this:
    <-------------------------------------------- KING --------------------------------------------->
      <---------------------- BLAKE --------------------->  <-- CLARK -->  <-------- JONES -------->
       <-ALLEN-> <-JAMES-> <-MARTIN-> <-TURNER-> <-WARD->    <-MILLER->     <-- FORD--> <--SCOTT-->
                                                                             <-SMITH->   <-ADAMS->
    Each parent's umbrella covers all of his descendants (children, grandchildren, etc.), and nobody else.
    Now draw vertical lines trom the edges of each umbrella downwards, and number those lines from left to right:
    <-------------------------------------------- KING ------------------------------------------------>
    |                                                                                                  |
    | <---------------------- BLAKE --------------------->  <-- CLARK ->   <-------- JONES ----------> |
    | |                                                  |  |          |   |                         | |
    | |<-ALLEN-> <-JAMES-> <-MARTIN-> <-TURNER-> <-WARD->|  |<-MILLER->|   |<-- FORD--> <--SCOTT---> | |
    | ||       | |       | |        | |        | |      ||  ||        ||   ||         | |          | | |
    | ||       | |       | |        | |        | |      ||  ||        ||   ||<-SMITH->| |<-ADAMS-> | | |
    | ||       | |       | |        | |        | |      ||  ||        ||   |||       || ||       | | | |
                                               1 1      11  11        11   112       22 22       2 2 2 2
    1 23       4 5       6 7        8 9        0 1      23  45        67   890       12 34       5 6 7 8
    The numbers corresponding to the left arnd right edges of each umbrella are what I called ns_low and ns_high in the table.  Each employyes ns_low and ns_high numbers will be inside the range of each of his ancestors ns_low and ns_high.
    To find the ancestors of a given node in the nested set model you can do this:
    SELECT   a.empno, a.ename, a.ns_low, a.ns_high
    FROM   emp  a
    JOIN      emp  d  ON  d.ns_low  BETWEEN  a.ns_low
                                    AND      a.ns_high
    WHERE     d.ename  IN ('ADAMS')
    ORDER BY  d.ename
    ,         a.ns_low
    Both the Lineage and Nested Sets models are good for tree structures only, whereas the Adjacency Model can handle other kinds of graphs, including graphs with loops.
    Both the Lineage and Nested Sets models can be very difficult to maintain if the hierarchy is re-organized.
    I'd like to repeat some of the warnings that others have made.  You could write separate code for each system (Oracle, SQL Server, ...) that you want to run in, and the code for each system will be more or less different.  You're looking for some code that will get the same results in all systems.  That code will be more complicated that the most complicated of the single-system versions, and it will be sloweer than the slwoest of the single-system versions.  You're giving up a lot of functionality, and probably also ease of maintenance, by writing code that has to work on multiple systems without changes.
    Here's how I created the emp table shown above from scott.emp:
    CREATE TABLE    emp
    AS
    WITH    connect_by_results  AS
        SELECT  empno, mgr, ename
        ,       LEVEL   AS lvl
        ,       ROWNUM  AS r_num
        ,       SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH (empno, '/') || '/'   AS lineage
        FROM scott.emp
        START WITH mgr IS NULL
        CONNECT BY mgr = PRIOR empno
        ORDER SIBLINGS BY ename
    SELECT empno, mgr, ename, lineage
    ,       (2 * r_num) - lvl            AS ns_low
    ,       (2 * r_num) + ( 2 * (
                                    SELECT  COUNT (*)
                                    FROM    connect_by_results
                                    WHERE   lineage  LIKE '%/' || cbr.empno || '/%'
                        - (lvl + 1)      AS ns_high
    FROM connect_by_results   cbr
    This relies on the fact that the hierarchy in scott.emp has only one root (that is, a node with no parent).  Computing the Nested Sets numbers is a little more complicated if you can have multiple roots.

  • Connect to quickbooks

    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    anyone knows how to connect crystal report xi with quickbooks?

    Hi krimble18,
    Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I gather that you need some assistance with setting up your Deskjet 2554 printer.
    I have included the Installing the Printer Software for a Wireless Network Connection document for you to follow to install the printer onto your computer.  There is a separate section for each of the supported operating systems.  Please click on your operating system and follow the instructions to connect your printer to your wireless network.
    I am presuming that you would like the printer connected to your wireless network to take advantage of some of the mobile features of Quicken 2014.  For support for Quicken 2014 I have included the link to the Quicken Support page.

  • Unable to connect to starbucks wifi

    I recently purchased a verizon iPhone 5, but I find that I am unable to connect to any Starbucks wi-fi. I can see and select the "attwifi" network, but then the logon screen appears and spins for ever. I think I tried it in a number of Starbucks locations, and was not able to connect in any of them.
    I also tried resetting my network settings, but it didn't help. Is anyone experiencing the same problem?

    I have been in several public Wi-Fi Networks with my iPhone 5 and experienced various levels of difficulty.  What I have found to be successful in most cases is the following...
    Settings > Cell Data "OFF"
    Now go back to Settings > Wi-Fi and select the network again.  I have then had a good stable Wi-Fi Connection.  This has happened at Skyline Chili, McDonalds and a local Dance Studio.  In some cases my iPhone 5 would not even detect the existing Wi-Fi Network, even while others around me were happily pounding away on their iPads and Cell Phones.  After turning Cell Data "Off"  I ether could join the Wi-Fi Network, or could Detect and Join the Network.  Hope this helps.

  • How to unblock a 3Gs from ENTEL Chile?

    My daughter bought a 3Gs in Chile during a school exchange program. It works in Chile with a Entel SIM-Card. The Entel-Shop told her, that it is unblocked. Back in Germany it does not work  with a Germany SIM. We tried it again with the Entel SIM in Germany and it works again. Does anybody know the trick to unblock the iphone.

    Unlocked iPhones are not sold in Chile. Entel does offer unlocking, but you will need to contact Entel to submit an official request (which she may have already done). Once the request has been processed, you need to connect the phone to iTunes and restore it, at which time you should get a message to the effect of "Congratulations, your iPhone is unlocked".
    Did she complete the unlock process by restoring it in iTunes?

  • Problems with Chili 250 GB USB storage

    Hello,
    I have been using an extern Chili storage 250 GB für about two years. At the beginning, it worked perfectly. Meanwhile, it doesn't even show up in the Finder when I connect it via USB Hub to my iMac.
    Since it used to work, I don't know where to find a solution - except in this forum ;-))
    Thanks a lot!
    Tomas

    Hello Roger,
    thanks for your idea.
    In fact, after doing what you said, the device showed up in the Finder. Unfortunately, after double-clicking, the computer freezed. I restarted the Mac, leaving the device plugged in the USB Hub. After restarting, I had the same problem as before.
    The USB cable is, by the way, a double plug. I was told that the Chili HDD would comsume lots of energy, so you have to connect a double USB plug.
    I have to correct the storage capacity of the drive: it is 160 GB, not 250. There are not many details I can give about the drive: it works under Windows and Mac (min. 10.2), 2.5'', aluminium, USB 2.0/1.1.
    Maybe you have another good idea?
    Thank you very much in advance!

  • Nokia E61i can't connect to internet / Country not listed

    Hi all,
    My new airport express works fine with my powerbooks but my Nokia E61i does not always get internet access or see the network. I've tried changing various settings such as the channel, closed network or not, the security settings, but I can't seem to find the magic bullet.
    I noticed in the wireless clients list of the airport utility that the signal level of the powerbooks is usually around -80 while the e61i is -1.
    So my hunch is that it has something to do with the power level or frequency of the radio transmitter.
    The Nokia was bought in the USA and the airport in Thailand. I'm wondering if changing the country setting in the wireless options to the USA would have any effect, but I can't seem to find out how to add new countries to the list. Under the wireless options it lists these countries only:
    Argentina
    Bangladesh
    Chile
    China
    Korea
    Nepal
    Pakistan
    Taiwan
    I can't find any mention of what changing the country would do exactly. I assume it has to do with adhering to the various regulations of each country regarding radio transmission, which might also affect compatibility issues.
    Thanks for any advice you may have.

    Thanks Duane, but unfortunately the e61i still has trouble connecting.
    I suspect that there are other differences besides just the channels being used between countries. Changing from one country to the next does nothing to change the list of channels available. It is always 1-11 for me.
    So changing the country must change something else, otherwise why include the feature at all? My guess is there are also amperage differences and various frequency ranges within each channel to make sure the airport doesn't interfere with other transmitters in each particular region.
    It would be nice to figure out how to get all the countries on my Airport Express, but have read elsewhere that people have simply exchanged their airports with Apple when moving to a new region.
    Changing country non-withstanding, I am tempted to believe the problem is with the Nokia. I have noticed that the e61i likes to be the first one on the network when it does connect. I also recall it not always playing nicely with my 2wire router back in the states, causing interference for my macs, etc. Nokia calls the wifi connection wlan, which leads me to believe the compatibility issue stems from Nokia's noncompliance with the WIFI standard. Thinking that maybe Nokia got on the wifi bandwagon in a later release, I updated the device to the latest firmware (Nokia gave me the thai or lao firmware) but nothing changed.
    Unfortunately neither Thailand nor Laos are listed on the airport express though it was bought from an authorized Apple reseller in Thailand. So I am back to square one.
    Hmmm...

  • Using the new iPad 3 with 4G in Chile, is that possible?

    Two years ago I bought a iPad 1 with 3G and I have been using it in Chile with a local provider for the micro SIM and can connect to the web with that provider without problems in 3G. I want to buy in the USA the new iPad 3 with wifi and 4G. I pretend to take it back where I live which is Chile. Is it "compatible" to use it with the same micro SIM from the same provider?

    If there is a carrier in Chile offering LTE service on either the 700Mhz or 2.1Ghz frequency bands, then yes, you can get 4G.  If not, you will have to settle for 3G.
    The new iPad only supports 4G/LTE on those two frequencies (other countries may still have LTE carriers available, but not offering service on those two particular frequencies).
    A couple of SA countries are rolling out trial LTE service in the 700MHz band, but I don't think Chile was listed amongst those?
    P.S. the telecom news seems to indicate the carriers in Chile will be using 2.6Ghz for their LTE buildout.
