No connection with my Asus RT-N66U router to Infin...

Hi experts,
The BT engineer came round to set up my new BT Infinity broadband earlier today. I was unhappy to find I was only hitting 16mb download speeds compared to the advertised maximum of 76mb.
Previously I was using TalkTalk using a T-Link 8177 modem and Asus N66U router. So after the engineer left I thought I'd ditch the HH5, and use my own equipment.
However, I simply cannot get it to connect to the internet.
I've trawled the forums and am confident that the modem and router are both compatible with BT Infinity. I've accessed the Asus router settings and set up a PPPoE connection with username '[email protected]' and password 'BT' but no luck. I've even tried the 'Quick Internet Setup' but keep getting a 'Detecting the internet timed out' message.
Plug in the HH5 and it works fine.
What am I doing wrong?
Thank guys.

To confirm what. The T-Link modem won't work with Infinity.
If you are meaning the problem with your speeds what was your estimated speed at time of ordering. Did you run the estimated speed test.
Can you run this checker and post back a screen shot of the results
http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome
and use this speed tester then carry out the further diagnostics and post back a screen shot of all the results including your IP profile for up and down.

  • My new HP officejet pro 6830 crashes when I connect to my Asus RT-N66U router

OfficeJet Pro 6830 crashes when connected to network (Asus RT-N66U router)
I've just taken delivery of an OfficeJet Pro 6830. I've installed the ink cartridges and it seems to be able to print copies and test pages, but I can't get it to connect to my network. Here's what I've tried:
    Using the Wireless Setup Wizard
I selected my network from the list and entered my WPA key. It says it's trying to connect, then the following happens:
    1. Briefly (for less than a second) a screen pops up showing that it has successfully connected to the network.
    2. Briefly (for less than a second) the screen flashes blue with a "power" icon and the text "B8B2A4F8" (which I presume is an error code).
    3. The screen display changes to "Printer Error: There is a problem with the printer. Turn the printer Off, then On."
    4. After restarting the printer, it complains that it has not been shut down properly.
Any further attempts to connect yield the same results.
    Ethernet connection
If I power the printer on while it is connected via an Ethernet cable to my network, after about 10 seconds it crashes as described above (steps 2 and 3) without me doing anything at all.
I did manage to get it to connect to a WiFi hotspot on my mobile phone (and I checked for firmware updates, but unfortunately there were none available), so it seems there's something about my network that the printer doesn't like. I have no idea what that could be, however. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hello Shawnondrums,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the printer shutting down when attempting to connect to the wireless network.
A very important step that gets easily over looked is, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Once the printer is back on, please use the on/off button to do a proper shut down and restart.  This will also do a semi power reset on the printer.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • Verizon DSL-2750B modem bridged with a ASUS RT-N66U Router

I'm trying to get my Verizon DSL-2750B modem bridged with a ASUS RT-N66U Router.  I have DSL/PPPoE service.   IS this what I want the Verizon modem set at?  Do I need to do anything else set on the Verizon 2750 Modem?
Also what port do I use on the ASUS router?  Does the ethernet cable plug into the WAN port or one of the 4 LAN ports?  I will post a picture of my ASUS router setup page in a few minutes.

Since I do not have that router I do not know for sure what else you have to do, but I can tell you this..
#1 Connect the WAN port of your ASUS to the Modem.
#2 And with most modem combos:
    a) Must disable wireless (if not a wireless modem combo, N/A).
    b) Must disable the DHCP Server in it.
If you are the original poster (OP) and your issue is solved, please remember to click the "Solution?" button so that others can more easily find it. If anyone has been helpful to you, please show your appreciation by clicking the "Kudos" button.

  • HT3500 how can i connect my macbook pro wirelessly to an hp printer with a asus rt 66acr router?

how can i connect my macbook pro wirelessly to an hp printer with a asus rt 66acr router?

Firstly, the HP printer must be connected to the ASUS' network. Then, simply connect your MBP to the network and your printer should be addable in Print & Fax in System Preferences.

  • How do I print through an ASUS RT-N66U Router?

Since we changed routers to the ASUS RT-N66U router I have been unable to print to any of my net work printers.  What do I need to do?  Is this router not compatible with my system?  I run through a PC XP Professional server.

That is because the new router assigned different IP addresses to your Printers and your Mac is looking for the printer on the old IP addresses. Make a note of the new IPs of the printer and change the settings on your Mac to reflect those.

  • New imac 27(Intel based, bought 2013) slow wifi connection with my Verizon fios actiontec router. All other wireless devices in the house(ipad 3gen,MacBook Air ,hp laptop) have a much faster connection. Should I change router settings to G only, etc

New imac 27(Intel based, bought 2013) slow wifi connection with my Verizon fios actiontec router. All other wireless devices in the house(ipad 3gen,MacBook Air ,hp laptop) have a much faster connection. Should I change router settings to G only, switch channel from auto to maybe 6,channel width to 20mhz? Already changed security settings to WPA2.  Currently router is running in mixed b and g mode.

If you have one computer running on G they will all run on G. All ROUTERS are backward compatible, in otherwords if you have a group of computers and all of them are N compatible and one or two are G They will all work but the N computers will run at N and those that are G will run at G speed not N.
It can get confusing but really it is simple. The newest is 802.11 AC and ic used with the newest Mac Computers made available in November 2013. So if you have the newest Airport Extreme that is 802.11ac and the newest computers that are AC compliant your speed will be 5 times faster than anything on the market right now.

  • I am unable to get a connection with my ipad through my router but I am able to get in when at my friend's house

I am unable to get a connection with my ipad with my wifi router.  Will I need to upgrade my router

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Problem connecting with USB Hard drive on Router since upgrade to Lion

Over the past year we have been slowly getting set up to have a hard drive with our photos networked so we can access from all home computers. We have a CineRAID hard drive storage tower w/one 2TB Seagate HD (allows for 4 hard drives). We have collected pictures from all computers onto the hard drive. Up until recently, we have had the system connected directly to one computer to allow transfer of files more easily. When I recently attached it back to the Netgear WNDR3700v2 router, I can see the drive (called ReadyShare, instead of the drive name "Photos & Videos") in the Finder, but I cannot access the drive; says "Connection Failed" and clicking brings up the box to connect as if to another computer.
I had set this up when we first got the hard drive in January and everything worked fine, i.e., I could see and access the pictures that had been transferred to the drive, without having to logon to the hard drive. The only thing that I know has changed is migrating my computer from Snow Leopard to Lion. Is there some new protocol for accessing this type system, or have I inadvertently switched/changed something else, that I no longer remember?

  • Can I use time capsule with a ASUS (RT-N16)router?

I will use a router with vpn. Can I use time capsule with it? And if yes, how do I connect them?

There is no vpn built into the native firmware of N16 so I presume you are going to use third party.
Just plug in the TC and bridge it.. ie go to Internet tab of airport utility and select connection sharing off.
wireless then you will need to figure out.. you can setup roaming on 2.4ghz by using identical wireless name = ssid and security but lock both to different channels.. pick out of 1, 6, 11
In a PC network make sure you use the TC with a new name.. no spaces no special characters.. same with wireless. TC also restrict wireless on 2.4ghz to only 20mhz.. if you have the N16 set to 40mhz you will have to be extra careful with channels.. 40mhz will use up two channels and only one remains.. so your household will have filled the 2.4ghz.
Someone suggested you can turn off 2.4ghz in the TC by not naming it.. When I try that it kicks up an error that it has to be named. So perhaps someone else has a suggestion of how to turn off 2.4ghz.
You can turn off 5ghz by unchecking it. Seems mighty strange that you cannot turn off 2.4ghz but you can turn off 5ghz.

  • Asus DSL-N66U router settings IPTV

I've read a lot on here about settings for Multicast for other routers, problem I'm having is my router above running standard firmware doesn't have these same settings (no option to choose Microsoft routes etc), but is IPTV ready, I just can't figure out how to enable it to work. Anyone have the settings for this router?

In the 3rd Party Routers thread I did confirm this router works and confirmed the settings: https://community.bt.com/t5/YouView-Boxes/Multicast-Settings-for-3rd-Party-Routers-may-not-work/m-p/...
I strongly recommend you upgrade the firmware of the router if you haven't done so though.

  • No connection with the router

After making a normal virus-scan with avast anti-virus suddenly my network card started to go crazy. I had no connection to my router. when i checked my network connection there was nothing... no ip-adress no dns-server nothing. Also no packages were send or received. I have a toshiba tecra S2 and i reinstalled my networkcard three times already everytime with the newest network drivers. It#s also no problem related to my router because the two other pc's at home just work fine.
    hope you can help me

    Hi there,
you said you already reinstalled the network card. And it did not worked.
So I have a little suggestion for you:
To test if your card is working properly, download "UBCD4WIN Live CD" (XP Live CD - very userfriendly windowsXP starting from CD) and burn it to a CD.
    www.ubcd4win.com
After that boot with it, and try to make a connection with your notebook to your router. If you get a connection, then something in your OS is broken and I suggest you to make a system
    recovery.
If no connection is given, try a Biosupdate and exchange the Network cable.
If nothing will work, bring your machine to a ASP (Authorized Service Partner) for repair or at least a hardware checkup.
    Good luck &
    Greets

  • Airport loses connection with MR814 V2

I have an iBook G4. My Airport loses connection with my Netgear MR814 V2 router. The only way to get it back is to unplug / plugin the router. The connection is ok as long as I'm on the iBook. The problem seems to occur after I've shut the iBook down for the day and then the next day the connection is gone.
I also have my Windows based Dell laptop using the router (wirelessly) and never have this problem.
This is really frustrating. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

I do not have the answer for you, but I am suffering the same thing with my macBook Pro. After about 15 minutes, I loses the connection, and the airport icon in the menu bar goes transparent. Nothing works to renew the connection except to unplug and re-plug my router. If you hear of any remedy, please post.

  • Loss of wireless connection with 350n

I am having a terrible time with loss of connection with my 350 N wireless router. The router itself is on top of a bookshelf less than 50 feet away from both of my wireless desktops, and faces straight down the hallway that both rooms the computers are in open from. Often when I start up my computer it refuses to acknowledge that there is a wireless network present in the house and the only way I can make it detect it is if I powercyle the router--which is a pain. Even sitting directly next to the router it will never recognize better than 85% signal strength. And when I load (not play, just initiate loading) download-heavy content such as streaming video or an MMORPG program the connection will often drop and then reconnect seconds later. Upon performing a speed test it unfailingly indicates that my upstream is twice as fast as my downstream, which reads at only around 1165 Mbps--which is absurd as my modem is provisioned for and often surpasses 16000Mbps. What on earth is going on and what can I do to overcome it? I'm getting desperate here.

I have fixed my problem by upgrading the router firmware to version 1.03.7 from version 1.03.5.
The issue I had upgrading the router was it would fail at about 80% when using the router to do the upgrade soooooo, this is how I did it ( stolen from another thread )
Be warned!  If you do the below and you have custom setting on the router you need to write those setting down first!!!!!!
    1. Download tftp.exe using this link (ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/tftp.exe)
    2. Download the new firmware (version 1.03.7) at Linksys download site
    3. Reset your router by pushing and holding the reset button in the rear for 30sec
    4. Configure a static IP address (192.168.1.50 with Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0) on YOUR PC
    5. Connect a network cable from your PC to your router
    6. Test that your PC is talking to the router by openning a DOS window and type "ping 192.168.1.1" (without the paranthesis) and you should get 3 replies.
    7. Double click on the tftp.exe
    8. Type in the IP Address for the Server: 192.168.1.1
    9. Password is "password" (WITHOUT the paranthesis)
    10. For the BIN file, click on the square-button and browse to the BIN file that you've downloaded from the LinkSys Site (WRT350N_1.03.7_US_code.bin)
    11. Click on Upgrade
    12. After the upgrade is successful, perform the reset, again. IMPORTANT!!!! PUSH AND HOLD THE RESET BUTTON FOR 30sec then let go.
    13. POWER light should be blinking during boot up then stay SOLID
    14. Now, change YOUR PC IP seeting back to what they were before you started this process.
    15.  Start InternetExploder and surf the net
    16. GOODLUCK!!!
As soon as I did this, my laptop wireless started working 100% and right away.
