No contacts listed in Voice Dial- Droid Pro

About half the time that I try to use my Voice Dialing on my Droid Pro the phone displays the message 'No valid names in contact list'. This seems to happen for no reason. It might work fine for a couple days and then stop working. There are over 200 names in my contact list. Is there a cause and solution?

Got this from someone quite helpful on another forum and it helped me. Hopefully it will help anyone else out there as well.
If you've updated your Pro with the OTA update that came out a couple of weeks ago that should have also included an update/improvements to the Voice Commands app. If you haven't already done so, on the main menu of your phone go to Settings>About Phone>System Updates and allow the OS update...
First thing I noticed was that the Voice Commands app icon changed after installing the Pro OS update....since the update I have not had any problems with the VC app...prior to that the app would work fine for a while then it said it could not recognize any of the commands I was saying...
Hopefully the update will solve the "valid contacts" issue that you and others have experienced...

I agree with Chris CA that this is the way I would *expect* iTunes to behave.
When I look at iTunes from my account (my music is in ~/Music/iTunes/ and not available to my spouse's account), I can see in my music library all my rips and my purchases, just as I would expect. I can use Store>View My Account (<myAppleID>) and all is as expected. Home sharing is NOT on.
Doing the same from the other account is not much different, actually. Nothing in the library yet, of course. Store>View My Account (<herAppleID>) also works. I CAN authorize my computer to play her music. I CAN view her iTunes purchases. When I attempt to download the purchases to HER library, though, I get the following dialog box:
Now I interpret this to mean that this computer (mine) will not download from a different AppleID (also mine) for 90 days. Is that [interpretation] correct?

Bluetooth Speakerphone with Voice Dial?

Hi All,
Because the iPhone does not support voice dialing, I am looking for a speakerphone that does it by itself. I have found the Parrot Minikit Slim, which attaches to the visor, and downloads the contacts from the phone. Then all I have to do is press a button and say the name of the person I want to call. The kit's voice recognition finds the contact, and dials it. It even asks, "Home or Cellphone" if I did not specify. This part works very well, and I am very pleased with it, but the call quality does not seem to be that great.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any other bluetooth speakerphones that will do this. It must be able to download the contacts and do voice dialing on its own, as this is the only reason I want to replace my Jawbone II which has excellent call quality.

I have 2 Parrot Minikit Slims and really like them (one in each vehicle). The connect to the iPhone with no problem, and download the contacts, then you can do voice dialing from the kit without touching the phone at all. Call quality is pretty decent, the reason I started this post was to see if there were any others that did this and might be better. We use them all the time.
I haven't had any issues with disconnections. If you walk out of range, the kit will turn itself off in a fairly short amount of time... 5 minutes maybe. I just got into the habit of touching the power button whenever I get in the truck. A single touch turns it on, and if it is already on, it does nothing.

Hi, in Mail6.3 the button to display your address book and another of other useful quick buttons have disappeared. I am a first time Mac user and find the lack of options to manipulate the application astonishing. I want to quickly access my address book from the email window, like having a button next to TO. This feature is very important as I do not always know the full names of the people I am writing too. I also experience problems to open the address book when writing an email in iCloud and to load distribution lists. Also, I would like to use at least a two-level structure to save my email lists that I can display and hide. Resizing the contact app is another feature that has been limited, and also too browse for an email whilst a window to write an email is open. Perhaps you can help me to discover these options.

Droid Pro erased all my contacts!

At some point in time over the weekend, my phone has lost all of my contact phone numbers and some people. 90% of my contacts are there and their email/birthdays show but the phone numbers are gone. How do I fix this? all of my text messges are just showing the numbers. I tried to use my backup assistant, but the numbers arent there either....maybe i am doing this wrond. HELP!!!!

elieq21, I'm sorry your phone erased all your contacts. I was unable to locate an issue with the Droid Pro erasing contacts randomly. Ann154 is correct, if your contacts are saved with Google you can import them back to your device. I have listed steps below to export and import your contact to Google contact and back to your phone.
To Import Contacts to your device:
From a computer, launch an Internet browser then navigate to the Gmail website.
Sign in with the Gmail account username and password.
Click Contacts.
Click More actions.
Click Import.
Click Choose File / Browse.
Select the desired .CSV / vCard file then click Choose / Open.
Click Import.
Click OK.
To Export Contacts from your device to Google:
Launch an internet browser then navigate to the Gmail website.
Sign in with the Gmail account username and password.
Click Contacts.
Click More actions.
Click Export.
From Which contacts do you want to export?, select the desired option.
The Group
All Contacts
If Group was selected, then select the desired contact group.
My Contacts
Friends
Family
Coworkers
Starred in Android
Most Contacted
From Which export format?, select the desired export format then click Export.

Nokia C7 Dialing from contact list

I'm having problem dialing from contact list and recent calls. I can only makes calls when dialing the numbers. I can receive calls. Texting works fine from contact list and recent calls, but voice call can only be done by dialing the number .Phone has to reboot everytime it happens.

First of all, check via Nokia Suite and on the phone itself for any firmware updates that may be available. IF there is an update, please update to the latest version offered. If there is no update, then try re-installing your current firmware via Nokia Suite. Failing this, try Restoring your phone to factory settings, and if this doesn't work, then you try performing a three finger hard reset. Failing this, you will need to take your phone to your local Nokia Care point for them to inspect.

DROID: Contact list touchpad troubles

My wife and I just bought DROID Incredibles, but when using it as a phone the contact list is almost unusable. If you try to scroll through the contacts and touch the screen wrong, then it will automatically dial whoever is unlucky enough to be under your finger at the moment. As fast as we press "End Call" we've gotten a number of calls back from people wondering what we wanted. Is there a way for us fat fingered people to stop the autodial completely and just have it fill in the number so we can press "Call" ourselves later?

if you open the "people" app (i put it on my home page to use easily), it will not do this. you can scroll, then touch the contact, and it will just open it up. you then touch the number you want to call (home or cell). or (what i do) is begin to type the name of the contact on the phone dialer keypad. it will narrow down selections as you type the 2nd and 3rd letter (in a drop down type of menu) so if you type "a" "m" "y" then any "amy" in your contacts will be listed, with both home and cell #'s. you select the one you want to touch from there. but if you just pull up the list from the phone dialer, then yes, as soon as you touch a contact, it will dial it.

Siri is prompting to unlock Iphone 6 when pressing home button for voice dial of existing contact

Just upgraded me to an IPhone 6. I restored my new phone from recent back up so all contacts, etc. are there. Also updated to latest OS.
If I depress the home button Siri is now prompting me to unlock my IPhone.
Scenario:
Depress Home button to activate Siri
Say "Call Home:"
Siri responds "You'll need unlock your IPhone first"
Unlock IPhone
Siri responds "Just to confirm - you'd like to call home".
I used to be able to just say "Call home" and it would just dial.....no unlock...no confirmation.
What's changed? Is there a setting I need to tweak?

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your new iPhone 6. If you are unable to voice dial from your lock screen, you may want to see if the setting to disable Siri when the phone is locked is enabled, as is noted here:
Prevent access to Siri when iPhone is locked. Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode (iPhone models with Touch ID) or Settings > Passcode (other models). You can also disable Siri by turning on restrictions. See Restrictions.

HP Officejet Pro 8610 lost fax contacts list

One of the ladies in our office was attempting to use the digital fax option on our 8610 & somehow the fax contacts list has disappeared. The recent fax list & speed dial lists are there but not the contact list. When I try to add a new contact, it goes through as if the contact was added but then I cannot see the list anywhere. Help!

I have some ideas in mind that may help with the problem you're having with your fax contacts.
I would suggest connecting to the Embedded Web Server, to see if you can see an option to retrieve your fax contacts and restore them. I am unsure if you would have this option but it would help to have a look, and also check to see if you can back them up for future reference.
Accessing the HP Embedded Web Server
If that does not work, you may need to recreate them, but first try updating the printers firmware.
If your printer is on a wireless network, you can select Setup, Web Services, Printer Update and Check for Update from the front panel of the unit.

How can i transfer my contacts list on a macbook pro to an Ipad air

I have a contacts list on my Macbook Pro and wish to pass it onto my wife's ipad air (she has her own icloud account which is different from mine) I am running Maverick and there is no longer an option on iTunes to sync by USB.

You can't sync across accounts, so:
In Contacts select all the contacts (1 account at a time) and choose File>Export>vCard),
then on your wifes Air do the reverse, select File>Import.

How to add company name to show up in contact list with person's name on Droid

I just switched from the Blackberry Storm to the Motorola Droid. Is there a way to have the company name show up in the contact list under the person's name. I need that for work. It syncs up with a program called Act by Sage and my storm used to show both.

You can edit your contacts, and list the company name under the organization section. However, it will not show up when they call you. You will only be able to see it in your contact list. Hope this helps!

Can my iPhone contact list be sent to my macbook pro?

After my most recent update to my Macbook Pro either I inadvertently deleted or it simply got wiped, but my Contacts disappeared. I tried reverting to an older version but I simply cannot locate it.

Droid 3 voice dialing issues with bluetooth

I just received my Motorola Droid 3 on Monday. I'm having issues using voice dialing with my Samsung WEP590 bluetooth headset. No trouble activating the voice dialing on the phone but it never dials the correct name. I did the voice training on the phone but it didn't help. Yes, English is my native language. Saying "call home" made the phone ask if I wanted to "email" someone. Very frustrating since I travel for my job and voice dialing over bluetooth is essential.
I tried to do voice dialing without bluetooth and had the same issue. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there a third party app I can use?

I researched bluetooth information about the device and the headset. I found no related concerns from other users. It would appear to be a hardware related issue on either the phone or headset. Have you been able to use another bluetooth with the device successfully? Have you tried the bluetooth paired with another phone and used the voice dialing feature successfully? We can eliminate the issue by asking these two questions. The problem lies in where we can duplicate the problem.
