No content in music file, can't sync ipod for numerous errors-HELP

couple of days ago I tried to add some more songs on my ipod touch and it didn't work.  For weeks it has been asking me to update my software but I can't because the error message says not enough space on MacBook's hard drive.
now I have disconnected the ipod touch from the computer and on the ipod there is no content on the music file.  But when the ipod is plugged into the MacBook in itunes it shows there is content, all my files are there and I can play them though itunes.
so I deleted tons of files on MacBook and deleted some songs on the ipod so I would have room to back up, but it still won't work.
I also get an error message and when I looked it up it has to do with voice memos- which I have none on the ipod. (13019)
What can I do to fix this problem? I know the music is there I just can't find it.
HELP
thanks

OK guys...no need to reply....I am resigned to never getting to the bottom of the syncing problem....I just go from 13109 to other error codes, downloading little umbrellas, putting th eipod in DWI mode (or something like that), restoring, getting anew error code, not being able to download updates etc. etc. - so I lost my patience with sitting in front of my computer trying to fix something I paid nearly usd 800 for (in my opinion the manufacturer should make it properly in the first place, or warn you about its faults before you buy)............
I synced my iPod to the computer, lost all my content ans restored only witrh what I had on this computer's iTunes - thus losing the countless CDs and vinyl I had converted to digital on my other ocmputer at home in Mozambique, which my current iTunes says it can't locate.
Am I really the only person who prefers to listen to music instead of spending hours and hours on the computer trying to fix this useless machne?
I wish I had never wasted my money on this thing. I guess it's just inappropriate and too sophisticated for where I live and for my simple needs (wi-fi and music only).
Very big thumbs down from this novice for the iPod Touch and for the iTunes way of doing things in general.......

  • Music files now unreadable on iPod touch. Please help

Hi, I have an iPod touch with a month or two left on the warranty. After 10 months of carefree use, I've got this situation: the iPod says there's no music on it whatsoever.
    * The music still exists on my computer's external drive and is playable via iTunes.
    * The iPod still has photos, contacts, calendar data, everything but music and tv shows intact.
    * When I plug my iPod into the PC's USB slot, it is recognized in iTunes. The same number of gigabytes appears to be filled as yesterday, but now all the former music and video exist as one long orange "Other" section. So it looks like the files are there, but are not recognized.
    * I tried to sync, but iTunes warns me that the iPod is already too full for that (Full of orange "Other" files).
    * I did do one screwy thing recently: After consolidating my library from my computer to my external hard drive, I recently started deleting content from the iTunes folder on my computer. I left songs purchased via iTunes intact on my pc out of paranoia. I only deleted music from ripped CDs that I can easily restore.
    * Perhaps, in the process above, I deleted a file that helps the iPod recognize the music files?
I have no idea what happened. Do you think I should reset everything, destroying my calendar data, etc.? Or should I send the thing back while it's
    still under warranty? Many thanks.

Corrupted, yes. There are different levels of restoration, but I assume
you're talking about the big one, the one that takes it back to its birth
    at the factory?
I definitely want to try that before trying to send the
thing back, but I haven't yet found a way to export my calendar data.
    (I'll copy it by hand).
Thank you for the reply, blackbelt.

  • Can't sync iPod on Windows "Can't find file" message

This is my umpteenth problem with iTunes since getting Vista. Can't resist sharing that.
Problem: I sync my iPod (bought it two years ago; audio and video, it downloads some of my music, shows the progress on the "bar", then it gets stuck on one song, will sit there for five minutes trying to download and then gives me the error message "Can't sync iPod. Can't find the necessary file" or words to that effect. I try ejecting my iPod and while my iTunes goes back to normal, my I have to wait for my iPod to run out of power before it returns to normal.
I uninstalled iTunes and downloaded it again and got the same result. However, the newly downloaded iTunes still kept my old play lists so maybe it was not completely downloaded even though it disappeared from my computer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

. when i plugged my ipod shuffle g1 in a few days ago itunes said the i had to restore my ipod. i did not want to but i had no choice cauz it already deleted my songs. after 5 trys it said "cant restore ipod"ipod". unknown error occurred (1418))(itunes did it by it self, i just put it in one very fateful afternoon. i spent 5 hrs on the computer and i still cant fix it) well i went to this web site to see if they could help me. i found something. it was a program for my ipod but by the time i downloaded it, it was too late. after a while plugging in my ipod "my computer" no longer reconized it as removable disk. a pop up comes up and says this device malfunctioned then my ipod disappears off the face of the earth. i would send it to the apple store but my warranty expired. bummer what should i do?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!umm i dont think anything can work towards our problem

  • Downloaded music files can

downloaded music files don't sync on new playlist;the only difference between them and the ones that do sync is that the ones that don't are missing the column where they can be checked;changing the settings;using different methods of importing-useles

When you select your iPhone in iTunes, you can briefly change
and edit the plalists and the songs in the Music section.
Once you create them in iTunes, they stay that way in the iPhone

I got a brand new iPod and wanted to put the music files on my old iPod to the new one. In addition to this I would like to know how to sync my new iPod to a different computer from that of the old one. Is it possible for me to accomplish all this with music rescue?

Put everything on one computer and sync to that computer.

2 iPods, 2 accounts but same music files, Can I point both users to the same music files, or do I have to have a seperate copy on each user account?
Me and the wife both have an iPod, and Ive read there easier to manage if you use 2 user accounts.
However, can I store all my music MP3s in one place on the HDD, and just point each user account's iTunes to the one place?
Or do you have to have the music in each users folder?
Sorry Im brand new to Mac and an (ex) PC user
    cheers

  • HT4914 Once I deleted my music files can I get them back via I cloud? I have Itunes match on.

Once I deleted my music files can I get them back via I cloud? I have Itunes match on.

I actually deleted my backup :-) That's the problem. But thanks.
I've managed to get some back but via a slightly different method.
Because the files weren't there, when I deleted them from my library they actually disappeared from the list.... So I created a new library (backed up my original one) and then synched that with Match so that all the files appeared. I'm just going through the ones I'm missing clicking 'download' and then when they're all back on my hard drive I'll revert to the previous Library which will hopefully pick up all of the recovered files.
    Bingo!

  • Itunes unable to read/locate music files as they have been converted to HP Connected Music files - can anyone assist ?

itunes unable to read/locate music files as they have been converted to HP Connected Music files - can anyone assist ?

You need to associate your music files to iTunes instead of HP.
    Control Panel
    Programs
    Default Programs
    Set Associations
Double click on the relevant item and select iTunes from the list.

  • I can not sync ipod due to 6gb of 'other', how do I get rid of this?

I can not sync ipod due to 6gb of 'other', how do i get rid of this?

    Hello drumsdonkey,
Thanks for the question. The following article outlines issues with free space, capacity, and a large amount of "other" space. While it refers to iOS devices, most steps are applicable for your situation as well:
iOS: 'Not enough free space' alert when trying to sync
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1503
One symptom of this issue will be displayed in iTunes where the Capacity indicator for the iOS device will report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the device. To resolve this issue:
    - Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
    - Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
    - Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
    - Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Can't sync ipod, there is no disk in drive F

wat does that mean? does anyone know what kind of disk they are talking about? is it just a probmlem with my computer? does anyone know what i should do?
also, i was able to sync my music, but then i tried to sync some movies and videos and "can't sync ipod. There is no disk in drive F" popped up

i think i am having the same problem as well. i plugged my ipod in to my computer last night and it said something about scanning for problems...then it popped up my F drive saying that i needed to insert something into the F drive....
i have tried three different cords to hook up my iPod to my pc...I tried another usb port...so i am assuming that it is either my computer, the iTunes or the iPod...regardless of what it is, my iPod wont update. and when it says it is updating it's not.
Does ANYONE know what to do??

  • Updating music files from itunes to ipod

    hi,
i'm having troubles with my 4gb nano.
i'm using manually manage my files.
i've dragged and dropped music files from itunes to ipod.
but when i change the id3 tags of those files in itunes, then "update my ipod" from the file menu,
it does not update (with the names, details etc) of those same files onto my ipod.
    is this meant to be?
do i have to manually drag the "new" detailed music files again?
    thanks for the help

OK so let me ask the basic question you failed to include in your post.
First question is how is your iPod set up with respect to syncing with iTunes? Is it set up to auto sync everything, auto sync only specific playlists, or is it set up to manually manage ?
Let's start with that and go from there.

  • While transferring several files to the G-Raid, the G-Raid device locks up with the following warnings:   "The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in (whatever file) can't be read or written (Error code - 36)."

While transferring several files to the G-Raid, the G-Raid device locks up with the following warnings:   "The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in (whatever file) can't be read or written (Error code - 36).” NOt sure this is a G-Raid problem, can anyone help?

This is likely a problem with the drive itself. This error indicates unspecified I/O errors with the drive, which can be from a hardware fault, or a formatting issue. If the drive has valuable data on it, then try connecting it to another PC to get the data off, and then try fully partitioning and formatting the drive with Disk Utility. If this corrects the error then you should be able to use the drive again as it was likely a formatting issue, but if the problem continues then it is likely a hardware fault and the best solution is to be safe and replace the drive.
