No contract iPhone?

Does anyone know if it is at all possible, in any way, shape or form,
to get an iPhone without a contract?
thanks!!

According to Apple, all iPhone 4's sold in the US require a contract with AT&T.
http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone#faqs
You should be able to purchase one at full retail directly from AT&T without extending your contract.

A no-contract sales price does not mean unlocked.
Apple is now selling an officially unlocked iPhone in the U.S. which has nothing whatsoever to do with AT&T unlocking iPhones. It is up to the carrier and the carrier only to officially unlock an iPhone that was sold as carrier locked with the carrier - in this case sold as carrier locked with AT&T. This may change one day, but at the present time AT&T does not unlock an iPhone for any reason or under any circumstances.

  • AT&T contract iphone..?

Hi... Actually i want to know about the at&t contract iphone 4s...My relatives is in US and soon will come here and if they purchase a iphone on contract will it work here(India) and what about the contract, plz help me..!

If they purchase it for $199, it will be locked to AT&T and unusable on any other carrier. You will only be able to use it with an AT&T SIM installed and you will have to pay for the service as well as the ridiculously high international roaming rates tobe able to use it for calls, data, etc.
If you don't want to use it as a phone, you will be spending more to maintain the service on the phone over the life of the contract than you would if you just bought an unlocked iPhone in India.

  • Do you guys remember when non-contract iPhone 2G was released?

There is no announcement, so I want to estimate based on old data.

Go to ATT and have them set it up for you. You can't do a pay as you go plan through iTunes.

You cannot use iTunes gift cards to purchase an iPhone nor anything else from the Apple Store. iTunes gift cards are valid only in the iTunes Store.

  • No-commit, no-contract iPhone 3G S?

Will the iPhone 3G S be sold without a contract?
Could someone share what they know about this, the more details the better

Copied from one of your previous posts.
I am on a family plan with a few other iPhone 3Gs, and myself who has an iPhone 3G.
I would like to upgrade to the iPhone 3G S but the other lines do not want to and therefore do not want to renew the contract, forcing me into the no-commit, no-contract price. I am also under 18 and not the primary line on the account.
Your line/number for your iPhone will no longer be under the existing contract for the Family Plan if you go with the no-contract or pay-as-you-go option with your iPhone 3GS purchase.
Since I am keeping this plan and not renewing anything, what am I signing when I buy the no-commit, no-contract iPhone 3G S?
I already answered this with my previous post.
A contract which is an agreement involving payment terms, service, rates, etc. It is a contract, just not a long term contract or annual contract.
I am fairly certain that you will not be able to enter into any agreement with AT&T if you are under 18.
And if your iPhone 3G was purchased at AT&T's subsidized or discounted price, your line/number remains under contract with AT&T under the Family Plan. You cancel the existing contract for the subsidy received for the iPhone 3G and the account holder for the Family plan will be charged an early contract termination fee for your line being cancelled with the Family plan.
You need to contact AT&T - I suggest visiting a local AT&T store to ask if someone under 18 is able to get a no-contract or pay-as-you-go option with AT&T.

  • Non-contract iPhone 4s

Hello. We will be purchasing iPhones in a few days when my wife and I move back to the USA from Japan.
Of course we want the iPhone 4s. Excuse me for my lack of knowledge about 'unlocked' iPhones as we've never had
an iPhone before-but this is what I want to know:
If we have the unlocked iPhone 4s-how do we 'pay as we go' for calls, messaging, data, Hotspot, network, et al?
I know that there are pre-paid cell phones and 'pay as you go' cell phones one can buy. However-how does this work
with a smartphone such as the iPhone 4s? I would just like to know all my options before settling on a 2-year contract commitment that
may or may not be the right fit for my family. Any helpful hints are appreciated!

Hi, I was looking into buying a non-contract Iphone 4s from Virgin Mobile through Best Buy... My question is:
Can I use a Credit Card (Not Best Buy's) to put down to pay monthly from that for the 18 month financing plan?
Not unless the card you use happens to have a similar payment plan. The 18 month deferred interest plan applies to Best Buy credit cards that used to be handled by HSBC but are now being serviced through Capital One.

  • I have a contract iPhone 5S Gold64 and I am looking for 6, HOW?

    Hi,
I have a contract iPhone 5S Gold64 and I am looking for 6 Gold64. I don't want to purchase the original price of iPhone 6 Gold 64. How can I get trade in iPhone 5s which I have and get upgrade to 6 while I am still under contract.
Can I extend my current contract for 2 years for getting 6!
Please help me with that because I don't want to go to AT&T. They told that they can trade in my 5S and give me 6 without paying anything except do a new contract with them.
I want to stay with Verizon, but also I want to get iPhone6 with no original cost. I just want it for $199. How can I do that please.
    Thanks

We don't want to see  you go either king4arabs. I understand you want to get the new iPhone 6, it's exciting. However, when you signed the contract for the iPhone 5S, you agreed to fulfill a 2-year term with that phone. Since it's not fulfilled, you can purchase the iPhone 6 at full retail value, review eligibility for Edge http://vz.to/1mYDhk7 , so you can trade it and upgrade, or use our trade-in program http://bit.ly/GGnDDC to offset the full retail cost.

Why unlocked no contract iphone 5s in us only sale for about 700 aud??? N in Australia sales for 869 aud?
If u add 10% tax and reasonable shipping cost, which is about 780 aud, it should not be that expensive! Can any apple employee provide a good explanation?

Maybe, but there are none here.  This is a user to user TECHNICAL SUPPORT forum.  In addition to us all being users just like you (Apple is not here), your question is not a technical support issue and is not appropriate for this forum.

  • HT4623 Can you unlock my out of contract iPhone 4

I have been given my sons out of contract iphone 4 so can it be unlocked by apple from 02?
I want to use it on orange.
    Thanks

ONLY the carrier to whcih it is locked can unlock it.  no one else.  Not Apple.  no one but the carrier to which it is locked.
Contact that carrier and ask them if they offer this service and if you qualify

  • How do I use an on contract iPhone 5 purchased in the US in India?

I am moving to India for a 6 month work related project in a couple of months and am planning to buy an iPhone 5 on contract here in New York. The contract can be seasonally suspended for 6 months so no issues about breaking the contract. I was deciding which carrier to buy the iPhone on - so that it can be unlocked (in India) and I can use it in India for 6 months, and after that come back to NYC and use it here after un-suspending my account. I cannot afford to buy an unlocked phone from Apple. Here is what I am debating:
    1. AT&T: It is a GSM provider, with most major carriers in India being GSM, it will be a good fit. Wanted to confirm that this will work in India with an Indian SIM, and if it will, will it work on 4G or 3G, and how do I go about it?
    2. Verizon: It is a CDMA device but I heard this comes unlocked even if you purchase on contract. Will this be compatible with a GSM provider in India? If so how, and will it work on 3G or 4G? The advantage here is that I save on unlocking fees which in India ranges from (5000-10000 INR)
Thanks so much for your help guys. I'm planning to buy the phone this week so your answers will be much appreciated!

You can not have it unlocked in India. ONLY the carrier the phone is locked to can authorize unlocking it. Anything else is a hack which will void your warranty and is illegal in the US.
    For an AT&T phone:
You pay the Early Termination fee so that you can have the phone unlocked.
You do not suspend the contract and you pay ridiculous International Roaming Rates.
    Verizon phone:
The SIM slot is unlocked. It should work fine with either of the supported carriers in India (Aircel and Airtel) and may work with other carriers in India.

  • Tough question: Can I purchase an off-contract iPhone 5 from Verizon and let my brother use it in Europe?

I have an iPhone 4S with Verizon, and I wanted to know if it would be possible for me to buy an iPhone 5 for the off-contract price just as if I was purchasing it for myself, and then ship it to my brother in Austria and let him use it there on the GSM network.
The reason I think this might be possible is because the GSM part of the Verizon iPhone 5 comes unlocked out of the box (or so I've been told)
One obstacle that might stand in the way is if I have to activate the iPhone 5 with Verizon before I send it to him.
Let me know if this would be possible.

If it is truly unlocked (versus the sim slot being unlocked), then yes you would be able to do this. I have no way of actually verifying if my VZW iPhone 5 is truly unlocked (I don't know of a local iPhone 5 AT&T customer to use their sim to see if my phone will work) but maybe someone on here has been able to verify this further than just what some articles state. Otherwise, if it's just the sim slot being unlocked then you would need to keep the phone active on VZW and your brother can use simcards on Europe to roam instead of paying the VZW roaming charges.
