No Cover Flow during music playback

I'm a newbie using iOS 3.1.3 on a 1st gen iTouch. When playing music in portrait mode, is there a way for me to lock the view in that orientation and stop iOS from switching to Cover Flow which is undesired? Is there a lock/unlock setting somewhere?

There is in ios 4. If you're still using a first gen touch with ios 3 you don't have any option to lock the orientation.

  • IPod freezes randomly for a few secs during music playback

    Hi,
My 'iPod Classic 160' is playing up of late.
It started a few months ago. During music playback, it would freeze for a 'fraction' of a second randomly but as time has gone on, it freezes for up to 5 secs now. I've used iTunes to 'restore' my iPod and have the latest firmware updates, but still the same problem. I use MP4 for music.

  • After 1.1.1 update: iPod locks the phone during music playback

My iPhone gets locked during music playback. It worked fine during the the first few hours after the upgrade but now it stalls or locks up completely. Anyone else experiencing the same?

First, for safety, do a quick diagnostic of the iPod.
You can do this by starting a sync as usual with iTunes, then enabling Disk Use. Now, go to Utilities/Disk Utility on your desktop, and perform a diagnostic - it should take only a few seconds. Now, go back onto iTunes and Disable Disk Use (so you can take your cable out).
As long as you have the iTunes desktop up, click Check for Updates, and then Update. (They update thee software every month.)

  • N70-ME, scree flicker during music playback

    Hi,
I noticed that the screen flickers (with some white banding lasting few milliseconds, every few seconds) during music playback (128kbps AAC). Is it because the processor is too slow, or is there a known software glitch ?
    thanks,
    bd

Is this happening in iTunes or on the iPod?
If iTunes, can you open the same song in QuickTime and does it pop and click also?
I don't know the apple contact stuff, it's posted around here somewhere though.

  • Clicking noise during music playback

During music playback on my iphone 3G I get a faint continuous clicking noise in the background, its just audiable over the music and really gets on my nerves. I've tried my iphone with several different types of ear phones, apple and non-apple but its always there, on every song I play.
I have also listened to tracks from the macbook through itunes to see if the sound is on the track but the music plays through nice and clear from my macbook.
Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone got any ideas about how to fix it?
    Sam

    Hi Sam,
Are you seeing this issue with tracks purchased from the iTunes Store or with tracks imported from CD?
Try testing with FREE on iTunes content> go to iTunes Store> FREE on iTunes near the bottom center of the page.
If the issue happens with music purchased from the iTunes Store try restoring the iPhone.

If its only happening with content imported from CD or sources other than the iTunes Store, try importing the tracks again or converting them in iTunes.

  • Cover Flow in Music not working at all, please assist

Hi there, I bought an iPhone 4 yesterday and updated to IOS 5 as soon it was plugged into the computer. I have noticed that when I am in the Music app, when I turn the phone to landscape, it does not switch to Cover Flow. It just stays in portait, no change. Obviously not an ESSENTIAL feature, but one I enjoy very much with my iPod, and one that I know should come with the phone. I image the solution is to revert to IOS 4, but I'd like to avoid that. Any solutions?

Is portrait orientation locked? Double tap home button and slide to the right until you see the last icon on the left. If this is locked, tap it and hopefully cover flow will work.

What do you mean by "show properly otherwise"? Is "otherwise" in other iPod views or in iTunes or something else?
In other iPod views and in iTunes.
However, sometimes I experience cover art problems when using the shuffle feature and skipping multiple songs in rapid succession. (The cover art is the wrong cover art, and it's shifted down and to the right and tiled with other cover arts.)
How have you entered the information for songs that have more than one artist in the artist field, both in the "Info" & "Sort" tabs of iTunes?
I'll try that right now and get back to you.

  • How do i get rid of cover flow in music on my 4s

how do you get rid of cover flow off on the 4s and go back to play list

Cover flow appears when your phone is rotated in landscape position (sideways).  Rotate it back to portrait position (upright) to return to the song list.

  • Ipod touch 1st generation stutters during music playback

My ipod touch running 2.2.1 (5H11) which has always had updates etc kept up, has recently started stuttering during song playback. I have reset a couple of times and it plays fine for one song and starts all over again. Any thoughts?

I am continuing to have problems with getting my ipod touch restored. I am following the directions on the faq's but it seems that my touch continues to freeze up during the restoring nprocess. Itunes continues to sync, but the ipod screen remains unchanged.

  • Bluetooth Buzz during music playback - iPhone 6

I am using an iPhone 6 - paired to a pioneer FH-X720BT car stereo.  About 5 minutes after bluetooth music playback starts I get a very loud buzz for about 5 seconds.  A moment after this all sound stops for a second.  Then music resumes.  This does not repeat until the stereo is turned off and then on again.  Anyone have a suggestion on how to fix it.  Is it a Pioneer stereo problem or is it an iPhone 6 problem?  I have not had the same problem with an older iPhone 4s.

Same issue here with iPhone 6 iOS 8.1.3 and now with iOS 8.2.  New Pioneer DEH6700BS.  Took back to shop and had new deck replaced - SAME ISSUE. Mine is around 7:30 minute and same drop out right after that as you are seeing.  I have tested with iPod Touch and my son's iPhone 5C and I don't get this issue despite multiple testing scenarios.  Looks like the common denominator is the iPhone 6.

  • Fluctuating audio output level during music playback on iPhone 6

    Hi,
When playing music on my iPhone 6 the volume level of the music suddenly drops sometimes and takes ages to go back to the original level. It doesn't matter whether I'm listening to music through my headphones, or when docked to a speaker or via airplay: the problem eventually happens (usually within 5mins). I've tried a factory reset, and I've tried a settings reset but neither of them worked. All I can think of at the moment is that there is an application running in the background that is interfering with music playback. Will try each one in turn and report back. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I have three other iOS8 devices (various iPad mini models) where this problem does not occur.
    Thanks and regards, Keri
    P. S. This problem happened with iOS8 before upgrading to 8.1.2.

"How would I know which all apps render audio?  Any shortcut to find out?"
No shortcut. You have to see whether they play audio or not. That simple. For example, Skype does.

  • Notifications during music playback

    Question -
When playing music back through iPhone (iPhone 5s, iOS 7.0.4), I keep getting notifications - which makes the sound fade in and out.
This didn't happen in iOS 6 and earlier - so I imagine its a notificaiton 'feature' - what's the best way to cancel this 'feature'?
I don't really want to turn off mail, text, etc notificatons...
Do I really have to go into Do Not Disturb mode in order to NOT receive notifications while listeneing to music, or is there an easier way?
Putting the phone on silence doesn't stop music from fading in and out...
    Thanks for any ideas...

Just to confirm same problem with Itunes. Mediamonkey and Mediaplayer play without any disturbing clicks through speakers...yes it drives you mad.
It occurred after I got a replacement for my bluetooth K/b and mouse. Now I have logitech MX5000 installed with s/ware Setpiont 3.15c.
I disconnected bluetooth during playback Itunes to find out if there was interference of some kind but still crackles and clicks. Ran repair install for Itunes but no positive change. Anybody any suggestions to release us from this problem?
    regards Mike

  • Brief periods of silence during music playback

    Hi folks,
I have an iPhone4 with iOS7.0.4 installed. Occasionally, during playback of music using the inbuilt music player, some songs will have brief periods of silence in them. It generally lasts for maybe a second?  I've only started experiencing this since upgrading to iOS7.
If I 'rewind' the song and play that section again, the period of silence occurs again, in the same place.
If I reboot the phone and play the same song, the period of silence occurs again, in the same place.
If I play the song in iTunes on my computer (the one the phone is sync'd with), I don't get the pause.
If I play the song in another application on my computer, I don't get the pause.
    What's going on here??

Screen Saver is only one method the Mac has to sleep, and it won't affect playback of iTunes.  The other is Energy Saver.  That is the setting you need to adjust.

  • I am getting frequent dropouts, Approx. 1/8 second during music playback, I am getting frequent dropouts, Approx. 1/8 second during music playback

I am getting brief dropouts during playback. Approx. 1/8 second and happening every 3 minutes or so. This is a new problem. I am sending optical out and have made no changes in over 2 years. Everything was good for 23 months so I think the problem is in itunes. My DA converter does NOT indicate a loss of signal when the dropout occurs. 205Gig in music.

  • Clicking during music playback

I have updated my iTunes each time a new rendition comes out, but I have clicking when I play my music. This does not happen when I play from Windows Media Player or Realplayer, so I know it's the iTunes, somehow. Has anyone else experienced this or know how to correct it? It's like listening to a scratchy album! It's driving me crazy ... well ... craziER!
