No cursor in bootcamp / internal rMBP 13" redesign?

When I try to install Windows 7 professional (x64) it boots fine, I have all the support software but the cursor is not present nor does the keyboard doesn't react. Strange... and this is not uncommon I heard. Apple should fix this ASAP (but they probably won't). And now for the second question... this time I heard the 13 inch retina Macbook Pro had two small fans on the left and right and the PCIe SSD was placed underneath the trackpad in the late 2012 and early 2013 models and it used to be a tiny bit fatter than the current model. The current rMBP models (late 2013 - now [mid 2014]) have just one fan and the SSD is mounted directly on the motherboard where the left fan used to be. Why did they do this? Is there a reason they completely redesigned the motherboard, while the non retina 13 inch MBP has the same architecture it had in 2008?

This is most likely because you are using a USB3 disk for installing Windows which does not have USB3 drivers till BC drivers are fully installed. Please use a USB2 disk for Windows installer.

You may want to look at iFixit Guides to see the teardown - https://www.ifixit.com/Device/Mac.

• Bootcamp Installation rMBP Mid 2014 Chaos

I am trying to install Bootcamp on my friends mid-2014 13" rMBP without success.
So far we have spent 2 nights and 6 hours working on this. I am convinced there are problems with Apple's Bootcamp Utility and/or firmware.
After successfully creating the USB installer drive, and partitioning the mac, we cannot boot from the USB drive.
I am an advanced user and have tried everything, including different ISO's, PRAM resets, booting from the CD with Superdrive, the whole deal.
What's disappointing is that I'm helping my mate out who is new to the Mac, he still occasionally needs Windows and this was a major feature that led him to switch. It doesn't make Apple look good. Obviously, from reading the forums, this is a common and well known issue with the last two generations of rMBP.
We are currently deployed overseas and don't have access to an Apple Store or genius.
I know these are user-forums, but I assume Apple does monitor these from time to time, they would be stupid not to.
Any ideas?

• Open cursor for internal table

Hi folks,
I have a tricky question concerning the cursor function and internal tables. First of all, it is not possible to create a view. Instead I've to use a function module for extracting some data to the BI system.
Actually most of the time I work with SELECT (for outer joins) and internal tables. At the end I have a internal table and must open an cursor. As fact, I can't open a cursor for an internal table - only database tables are allowed.
OPEN CURSOR WITH HOLD s_cursor FOR SELECT * FROM lt_temp.
Does someone have a clue how to solve my problem? Obviously I have to use a db table for a open cursor statement but on the same way I have to use a internal table for all my previous SELECT-statements.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Mrcl

Why don't you use EXEC and ENDEXEC

• Mac Drive: What internal or external drives can I 'see' from OSX or Bootcamp?

Hi All,
I am having a bit of a hard time trying to finalize my port over to macintosh and I am hoping someone can help me understand what I should be able to "see" from where I can see this on my network. I would like to move some data temporarily OFF an external hard drive and ONTO the Internal Drive #1 temporarily so I can use this External Drive for another purpose. But again I can't figure out if I should see this External Drive (C below) and be able to move it to this internal BootCamp drive (#1 below).
I have MacDrive installed on all Windows installs and have the following in my MacPro:
1. 1TB HD with Windows 7 BootCamp
2. 500 GB with Windows XP BootCamp
3. 1 TB with Snow Leopard and Windows 7 via Paralells (I WORK HERE REGULARLY)
outside the machine I have:
A. 2 TB Time Capsule via Ethernet to the MacPro (that actually backs up the Laptop Machine wirelessly)
B. 2 TB Western Digital (that backs up the MacPro drive 3 that I work off and store my data)
C. Various External drives that I plug into the MacPro via USB
Is it possible to get a handle on whether I need to actually boot into the Window 7 BootCamp Internal HD in order to move this data to this drive and whether I should be able to see this Boot Camp Drive from within OSX? I mean, can I move the data from the Mac Formatted External Drives to the Boot Camp Drive without booting into Boot Camp? Can I see these Mac Formatted Externals from Boot Camp (assuming I have Mac Drive Installed?
Should I expect to see the Time Capsule from the Boot Camp drives?!
Thanks for any help

OK, you are half way there...
The MacDrive software allows the Windows side to read and write to the MacOS partition. You are correct, there is a Paragon software you could have purchased for about the same price. Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Both products work well. For some things one may be slightly better than the other, but either should work fine for what you want. With this, you should be set when you boot into WIndows using BootCamp.
As I said, you are half way there. Now you want your MacOS to be able to read and write to your WIndow 7 boot partition. By default, MacOS can read from teh Windows drive, but can't write to it. You have a couple of options to try here. If you do a google search, there was a method to get unsupported read and write access using the native driver with your MacOS that worked for the older versions of OS-X. I don't know if it still works for Lion or not, but it might be worth a test. There is NTFS-3G that you can get for free. I seem to recall some people had priblems with it when Lion was first released, but I imagine those issues have probably been addressed by now. There is the option of buying commercial software for this as well. Here there is another Paragon package that you can but which works very well. It give you the full read and write access to your Windows drive, and it hasn't had any problems on Lion for me. Unless you use one of these methods (or something else I haven't mentioned) you will not be able to write to your Windows boot drive when you are running MacOS. You will be able to read from the drve, just not write to it.

• Enhancement Point Creation in Internal table

Hi,
I want to create a Enhancement Point in Internal table declared in Customize Program.
This is more related to clarification of concept related to Enhancment Point.
But when i am putting the cursor inside the internal table and right click and Enhancment -> create ,it is giving me a message
that "Position of enhancement section/point statement is not allowed".
This means that we can't create Enhancement point or Enhancement Section inside the Internal table and solution is we can use
only Implicit Enhancement point.
But the doubt is that i had seen SAP programs where they have created the Enhancement point in the internal table declarations.
How that is possible then?
Please provide your helpful answers to get me more clarification on Enhancement Point/

Now in the internal table lbbes they have created the enhancement point and in implementation of enhancement point they have declare some extra fields.This is not a implicit enhancement but it is a explicit enhancment implementation with the help of enhancement point.
Similarly if i have to do in my customize program then how to go ahead?
I knew that it is possible with Implicit Enhancement point and i can implement that also.
Let me know your views about this.

• Possible to look ahead with a cursor

I need to know if you can do sort of a cursor look ahead and view data from the next row in the cursor. I'll try to succinctly explain why, maybe there's a better solution.
We have several items that are valid through certain date ranges. The database was designed to only hold the starting date of an item, thinking that the end date could be calculated by looking at the start date of the next revision of that item. For instance:
Cert1 version 1's start date -> January 1, 2000
Cert1 version 2's start date -> January 1, 2002From that we can deduce that Cert1 was valid between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2001. Unfortunately, this isn't working out quite like I expected in my function because I don't have access to the second version information until AFTER I've already processed version one's information and the processing of version one is dependent upon the data in version two. I'm sure you can see where this is headed... =)
So is there a way I can read something out of the next row, without moving the cursor, or will I need to redesign that particular table in the DB?

Hi,
You can get the value from the next row right in your result set, using the analytic LEAD function.
For example:
SELECT  start_date
,     LEAD (start_date) OVER ( ORDER BY start_date)     AS next_start_date
...LEAD returns NULL on the last row in the result set.
If you have several different groups (say, different items, identified by item_id) and you want to find the next start_date in the same group, then add a PARTTITION BY clause:
SELECT  item_id
,     start_date
,     LEAD (start_date) OVER ( PARTITION BY  item_id
ORDER BY      start_date
)     AS next_start_date
...See the [SQL Language manual|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28286/functions079.htm#sthref1560] for more.

• Opening cursor to collection of records?

Hi,
I am researching an issue at work, and I wanted to see if any of you knew whether or not what I'm attempting to do is possible.
Essentially, what we have is a large number of stored procedures that return data in the form of OUT parameters. If there is more than 1 row, the procedures return a special integer, and the client code (a Java process) repeatedly calls the procedure until it gets all of the data.
We want to convert these procedures so that they return a result set (i.e., they will
return a reference cursor variable.) However, we'd rather not work directly with the procedures themselves. What we were hoping to do was develop a set of "proxy" procedures. Java calls these proxies, which call the original procedures, accumulating all the data. Then, the proxy opens a cursor to the final data set, so that in terms of network accesses, there is a single Java-side network access, and multiple local accesses on the Oracle end of things.
The problem is, I'm not sure that we can return a cursor to the data. What follows are the issues:
First, we can't open a cursor to the original function calls (AFAIK.) We have to somehow get all of the data from the function into the proxy, and open a cursor to that in the form of a SELECT on all of the data (from SYS.DUAL, or some similar method.)
So, I decided that maybe the answer was to use a collection. Logically, I thought it best to create a RECORD data type, with a pseudo-column for each of the OUT parameters in the original function call. Then, I created a nested table of these records. I call the original function from the proxy, populating this collection of records with all of the data. That works fine. However, I thought it would be relatively straightforward to open a cursor to this collection, using i.e.:
OPEN ref_cursor FOR
SELECT * FROM TABLE(CAST(my_collection_variable AS my_collection_table_type));
(Or some variant of that.) Unfortunately, it is not. This results in an Oracle error, when I actually open the
cursor:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [15419], [severe error during PL/SQL
execution], [], [], [], [], [], []
ORA-06544: PL/SQL: internal error, arguments: [pfrrun.c:pfrbnd1()], [], [], [],
ORA-06553: PLS-801: internal error [0]
ERROR:
ORA-24338: statement handle not executed
After some research, I found that I could not define the nested table at the PL/SQL level (All of these functions live in packages.) It had to be defined at the database SQL level. So I created a nested table of NUMBER variables at the SQL level (from within sqlplus), tested opening a cursor to that, and everything worked fine.
Then, I hit the next snag. I can't define the RECORD type at the SQL level, and I can't reference it from the nested table definition (which is defined at the SQL level) when it is defined at the PL/SQL level. This is the error for that:
1/29 PLS-00201: identifier 'REF_TYPES.FUND_RT' must be declared
(Where FUND_RT is a RECORD declared in package REF_TYPES.)
See below for the SQL scripts.
So, I would have to create literally hundreds of nested tables of VARCHAR2's, NUMBER's, etc., for each OUT parameter at the database level for this approach to work, which is not feasible.
Does anyone know of a work around for this situation? Is there a way to access a RECORD type defined at the package level, from within a SQL-level nested table
definition? Is there a way to accomplish what seems like a very simple task that I'm somehow missing?
Thank you,
Gabriel Weinstock
SQL to create the record type, executed first from sqlplus:
conn owner/password
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE ref_types
AS
TYPE ref_cursor IS REF CURSOR;
TYPE fund_rt IS RECORD
( var1 NUMBER,
var2 VARCHAR2,
var3 DATE );
END;
grant execute on owner.ref_types to public;
** ("owner" is the owner of the table-- is that a problem? I tried "owner.REF_TYPES.fund_rt" and that didn't work either). **
Next, to create the collection, which generates an error, the following script is called from sqlplus:
conn owner/password;
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE fund_tab_t AS TABLE OF ref_types.fund_rt;
Error, see above:
1/29 PLS-00201: identifier 'REF_TYPES.FUND_RT' must be declared

I agree with Stephen as well that given more time a rewrite of the stored procedures would be optimal.
Todd-- thanks for the answer. What had me baffled was that I don't think you can define a record at the SQL level, but an object is acceptable. Is that correct?
However, this raises more issues. I'm not sure management is going to go head over heels for all of these anonymous objects defined at the SQL level, not belonging to any package, so, as I looked further, I think I might have to use a "pipelined function". Which will mean one function calls the original stored procedure, and gathers up all the data into a collection of records. Then, it returns that collection. A second (!) function, opens a ref cursor for a SELECT that includes the returned collection from the first function.
This way, nothing has to be defined at the SQL level, and I can do everything in the package. (I'll probably eat my words on that.)
It definitely is NOT pretty, but it might be the way things turn out for an interim solution.

Are you working a newly created database, or one that just upgraded?
That error generally appears when the catpatch.sql was not ran.
If so try, the following:
shutdown the database
startup migrate
spool patch.log
@?/rdbms/admin/catpatch.sql
spool
Verify that no errors are appear in patch.log. If no error occured, shutdown the database and start it back up.

• Embedded AS3 SWF access in Flex 2

I have an SWF (Action Script 3) created in Flash 9 Alpha
Public.
I can access all its methods and variables when using
SWFloader, but fail to do so when embedding it by using [Embed]
tag.
I need to do it to use it as a custom cursor (CursorManager
accepts objects of Class type as cursors). Before I was using SWF 8
(AS2) with LocalConnection, but since the new SWF 9 is in Action
Script 3, I want to use it directly.
The code looks like this:
[Embed(source = "cursor_9.swf")]
private var newCursorSymbol:Class;
private function changeCursor(event:MouseEvent):void
CursorManager.setCursor(newCursorSymbol);
The question is. Can I, and if I can, then, how, access this
swf methods from within a Flex 2 application?
or else, can the CursorManager somehow accept the content of
SWFloader, which is a MovieClip object?
Thank you

This is tough. The DisplayObject that represents the customer
cursor is instantiated internally by the CursorManager and is
stored in a private variable, so there's no way to get at it. I
believe there is a hack you can do if you ever only have one
instance of that cursor. The Class you pass to the CursorManager
can be any DisplayObject, so you can cook one up to wrap your SWF.
For example, call it MyCursor.mxml:
<mx:Canvas xmlns:mx="...">
<mx:Script>

public static var sCursorLoader: SWFLoader;

</mx:Script>
<mx:SWFLoader id="loader" source="cursor_9.swf"
creationComplete="sCursorLoader = loader"/>
</mx:Canvas>
And then use the CursorManager:
CursorManager.setCursor(MyCursor);
The idea is that once the CursorManager instantiates the
MyCursor class, the static variable will point to the SWFLoader, so
you can access it in a global way:
MyCursor.sCursorLoader
Of course, you'll have to put in some kind of delay to make
sure the SWF is completely loaded, etc. This is just something I
thought of off the top of my head, so take it with a grain of salt.
:-)

• Sequences on more shemas. How to use???

A big trouble using correctly sequences in oracle lite.
Since now i had only one olite publication linked to a schema on backend db, with many objects: tables, indexes, views and 5 sequences.
Example:
publication --> schema
schema.seq1, schema.seq2, ... , schema.seq5
reachable by olite client as:
db = $USER_PUBLICATION
Now i have to "duplicate" this schema and deploy another publication, adding a prefix.
Example:
new_publication -> new_schema
db = $USER_NEW_PUBLICATION
I found no problem for all objects but sequences,
because tables, index, etc had the right schema as "owner",
but i did not found any parameters like owner for sequences.
Explaining better,
i need to use the same sequence name: seq1, seq2, ..., seq5 for both publications,
referring to the right sequences on the right schema, but i'm not sure if (and how) this is possible.
Could you help me?
Thanks.
Daniele

we had a similar issue when we changed our application from 'standard' oracle lite (complete and fast refresh PIs) to use queue based PIs.
We did a workaound for the problem by
1) do not include the sequences at all in the second application (you get erors if you do)
2) run the following (fusionbci2 is our new application, fusionbci is the old, and fusionbci2 is effectively a clone of fusionbci)
-- fusionbci2_sequences.sql
-- associate all sequences with the fusionbci2 application
DECLARE
l_fusionbci2 VARCHAR2(30);
-- this cursor get the internal publication id for the fusionbci2 application
CURSOR c_fusionbci2 IS
SELECT name
FROM cv$all_publications
WHERE name_template LIKE 'fusionbci2%';
BEGIN
OPEN c_fusionbci2;
FETCH c_fusionbci2 INTO l_fusionbci2;
CLOSE c_fusionbci2;
-- this insert creates copies of the sequence relationship entries for the fusionbci application
-- linked to fusionbci2
INSERT INTO c$pub_objects
(pub_name
,db_name
,obj_id
,obj_type
,obj_weight)
SELECT l_fusionbci2
,'fusionbci2'
,obj_id
,obj_type
,obj_weight
FROM c$pub_objects
WHERE db_name='fusionbci'
AND obj_type='NA_SEQ';

NOTE this works, but is probably not recommended by oracle, and should only be used where individual clients will only use one of the applications at a time (if they use both the sequence ranges are likely to overlap)

• Use of BDCDATA-DYNBEGIN in BDC...

Hi all,
What is the Use of BDCDATA-DYNBEGIN in BDC...
Values are ' ' and 'X'...
what is the purpose of it in BDC.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Raj

hi,
BDCDATA-DYNBEGIN describes the default or intial screen of the transaction which was used in BDC.
BDCDATA is the structure used for mapping logic( means move the cursor position from internal table work area to specified apllication and specified screen).
form bdc_dynpro using program dynpro.
clear bdcdata.
bdcdata-program = program. "MODULE POOL PROGRAM NAME
bdcdata-dynpro = dynpro.   " CURRENT ACTIVE SCREEN
bdcdata-dynbegin = 'X'.    ' DEFAULT SCREEN
append bdcdata.
endform.
regards,
Ashokreddy.
