No custom settings for AAC?

I am unable to change the custom settings when using AAC encoder.
I'm fairly sure that there used to be an option to change the bit rate and VBR under the Custom setting (and the Apple website describes this), but now when I select custom it just shows 256kb and does not give any options for custom settings.
A small thing ... there used to be a little line between Spoken Podcast and Custom. That little line is not there anymore.
There are still custom settings for MP3 and AIFF and WAV.
Any ideas how to fix this?

  • Cannot Change Custom Import Settings For AAC's

Last night I changed the custom import settings from 192 kbps to 160 kbps for a particular mp3 album I wanted to convert with that bitrate. I tried to change the custom settings back to 192 kbps (the bitrate most of my mp3's & wma's are in). For some reason, the window that came up many times before refuses to pop up now. I tried the custom settings for mp3's and that window still pops up. Anyway, I tried a repair and nothing happened. I uninstalled iTunes, Quicktime, Bonjour, and Apple Software Updates, deleted there corresponding folders in C:/Program Files and then restarted the computer. I downloaded the iTunes 9 installer through the iTunes website and proceeded to reinstall iTunes. Still, the problem exists. I'm not sure what else to do? The only other thing I can think of is to do the same except install iTunes 8 instead and then search for updates and reinstall iTunes 9 that way. Would anyone know of any other method on solving my problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    glenn,
I have the same problem and it is driving me crazy. If you find a solution please email me at [email protected]

  • I want to set Firefox to never remember history. When I do this using the tools tab and click okay, it goes right back to "Use Custom Settings for History". I don't want that.

I know how to manage privacy using the tools tab at the top of the address bar, or so I thought. I want to choose "Never Remember History". When I do that, and click "OK", the next time I check the privacy settings, the history is right back to "Use custom settings for history". I don't want this. Also, I don't want to use autocomplete for forms, but I can't get those settings to stay, either. I basically don't want info. stored on this computer. My system was hacked several months ago, by some joker who named all my system folders a racist slur (I reported it to Norton, and a technician had a look at it). Anyway, I want to keep things as safe as possible. Please allow me to delete all my history when I close Firefox. I don't really like Google, either, because they have a reputation for not respecting people's privacy. I don't like that I didn't have an option to uncheck google's toolbar when I installed Firefox.
    Thank you.

    That is probably OK.<br />
You may have changed one of the other history or cookie settings.
If Firefox shows the "Use custom settings for history" setting then that is an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings are not the default to make you aware that changes were made.

  • I have selected "Use custom settings for history" and pressed "OK" but it defaults back to "Remember history", how do I stop this?

I have to enable cookies in order to have an online purchase credited to my mileage account. So, I opened Firefox Tool and selected Options then Privacy. There, I changed "Remember history" to "Use custom settings for history," as, this will achieve what I am trying to do. However, when I press "OK" the box jumps back to the Privacy box and I see that "Remember history" is still the setting. What steps do I take to prevent the Privacy box from defaulting to "Remember history" when I want to change that setting to something else?

The "Use custom settings for history" selection allows to see the current history and cookie settings, but selecting this doesn't make any changes to history and cookie settings.
Firefox shows "Use custom settings for history" as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made.
If all History settings are default then the custom settings are hidden and you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History".
"Never Remember History" means that Private Browsing is active and "Always use private browsing mode" gets a checkmark.
Do you have a problem with the cookies?
You can inspect and manage permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:
*Click the "[[Site Identity Button|Site Identity Button]]" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar
*Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
*Go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab
Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

  • My privacy setting is stuck on Remember history, won't stay on Use custom settings for history after I set and click ok

When I go into Tools, Options, Privacy and set 'Use custom settings for history' and then click okay it will not save. It stays on 'Remember history', though it will save 'Never remember history' as I tested this. This seems to have happened after recent Firefox latest update. Does anyone know why I can't choose 'Use custom settings for history' as this is the setting I want to use?

It's not that I'm not satisfied with the current settings, it's just that I'm one of those curious people - wanting to know why suddenly I couldn't change my history setting when I could always chop and change it before to a setting of my choice. I noticed this has happened since recently updating to Firefox 6. When things like this just happen I always search for a reason. Anyway, it sounds as though I am a bit of a novice on Firefox compared to yourself, and if you recommend that it's probably best to stay on Remember History and it's not likely to cause any problems, then say no more, I shall accept your advice. Any more tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

  • Cannot change setting in privacy from remember history to use custom settings for history. I can set in to change but on closing with the ok button thus closing the privacy tab, it then reverts back to remember history.

I have been by a web sit that the cookies are disabled in the browser. on looking at the help on firefox help the instuction as i understand was to change the setting under the privacy tab ref history fromthe default setting of rember hhistory to use custom settings for history. I change the setting click ok but it reverts back to rember history. I just cannot change the setting. This also happend in the prevous version.

To see History and Cookie settings in Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
You need to make at least one change to make "Use Custom settings" stay selected.
If all history settings are the default then the History and Cookie setting revert to "Remember history" the next time you open Tools > Options > Privacy.
So it looks that your cookie setting are already correct.

  • When I try to set my 'History Setting' to 'Use custom settings for history' it doesn't appply - it continually defults to 'Never Remember History' - how do I fix it?

When I got into my 'History Setting' and click on 'Use custom settings for history' it doesn't apply. I click on the 'OK' tab and it appears to apply and then closes. When I go back into it, in order to see if it applied, it has reset back to the 'Never Remember History'. How do I fix it?

If "Never Remember History" is displayed then that means that you are in Private Browsing mode and that all other history settings have the default value.
If you intend to run Firefox in Private Browsing mode the that is OK.<br />
Otherwise you need to leave mode.
To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
    * Deselect: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"

  • Missing Customizing settings for software component ECC-DIMP

    Hi all,
While running the T-code IE4n I am getting this error:
Missing Customizing settings for software component ECC-DIMP
This is working fine in IDES ECC 6.0 ,Could u please tell me how to resolve it for my othersystems.
    Thanks
    Yinyan Lu

    Dear Yinyan Lu,
Please, have a look into the SAP note 767108 (IE4N: Problems due to missing notification Customizing)
    Solution
To correct this error, implement the correction instructions contained
in this note or import the relevant Support Package.
    In packages
    o  DI in Release 4.6C2
o  DIMP in Release 4.71 and higher
o  EA-APPL as of Release 4.7 Extension Set 2 and higher
notifications are created when installing and dismantling. In this case,
Customizing must be complete, otherwise errors will occur.
In DI Release 4.6C2 and DIMP Release 4.71 (and higher),
    follow the following Customizing path:
      Plant Maintenance and Customer Service
        -> Maintenance and Service Processing
          -> Maintenance and Service Notifications
-> Determine Properties of Notifications for Installing and
    Dismantling Parts
Always maintain the notification type for installation and for
    dismantling.
Follow the following Customizing path on EA-APPL as of Release 4.7
    Extension Set 2 (and higher):
    follow the following Customizing path:
      Plant Maintenance and Customer Service
        -> Maintenance and Service Processing
          -> Configuration Control
            - > Determine Properties of Notifications for Installing and
               Dismantling Parts.
Always maintain the notification type for installation and for
    dismantling.
What must you do if you do not want to use notifications in IE4N?
    1.  You must always maintain the notification type in accordance with
        Customizing described above.
    2.  Create an individual, empty implementation for the BADI
BADI_CCM_NOTIF_GENER. To do this, proceed as follows:
    a) Execute transaction SE18.
    b) Specify BADI_CCM_NOTIF_GENER as the BADI name.
    c) Use the menu <Implementation><create> to create an individual
implementation with a corresponding name in the Z namespace.
    d) You enter the BADI Builder. Name the implementation, and then
save and activate your implementation. It is important that the
methods CREATE, FILL_CUST_DATA, MODIFY, SET_HEADER_MESSAGE, and
           PRINT_NOTIF are empty.
Note that these steps are required, since the BADI
BADI_CCM_NOTIF_GENER is equipped with a default source code that
includes the use of the notification.
As of ECC600, Note 1368876 replaces error message IEN 126 with error
message IEN 026, which is more precise.
    Caution:
o  The error message mentioned above indicates that Customizing is
missing. To correct the problem, you must perform the relevant
             Customizing settings for transaction IE4N.
o  As of ECC600, you do not have to activate the DIMP switch (this
             may not be useful).
o  For more information, see Note 1368876.
    I hope, it helps.
    Best regards,
    Roland

  • Even though I set "Use custom settings for history" when I close the window and recheck it has set itself back to "Rember History"..why?

I am having trouble getting the settings to stay and can't figure out why...no matter what I do it just resets every time back to the
"Remember History" and it won't save passwords on some of my sites.

Firefox shows the "(Never) Remember history" choice if all the history and cookie setting are the default.<br />
Make at least one change to the default setting if you want "Use custom settings for history" to stay selected.<br />
Otherwise Firefox will revert to "(Never) Remember history" if you return to the Privacy tab.<br />
The choice "Use custom settings for history" will stay selected as long as not all settings are the default to make you aware that you made changes.<br />
    * Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) [[Private Browsing]] mode
    * You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
    * Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"
    * Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
    * You need an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep that cookie, especially for secure websites and if you let cookies expire when Firefox closes
    * Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and password exceptions.

    what plugins firefox has

If Firefox shows "Remember History" then that means that all history settings have the default value.<br />

"Use custom settings for history" reverts to "(Never) Remember history" if all History and Cookies settings have the default setting.<br />

  • Import settings....no option to change custom settings in AAC

If I select to "Import using aac" and then select "custom" I am not given any further options to customise. This used to be an option where an other small page would open and give me all the various custom settings available but now nothing. If I try "import using mp3" and then select "custom" then I am given all the custom options. I have uninstalled itune and reinstalled but no change. This is really anoying as until I can sort this problem out I can not rip my cd collection as I wish to.  Any help appreciated. Thanks

That one can be caused by damaged iTunes preferences files. If that is what is afoot, rebuilding one set of your preferences files can get past the issue.
Prior to doing the preference file rebuilds: Best to make a note of any custom preferences you have set up for your iTunes. (Rebuilding pref files returns preferences to their defaults ... so you'll likely have to set some of those custom preferences up again from scratch.) Also make a note of any third-party plugins/add-ons you have installed. You may have to reinstall those after the rebuilds.
First, quit iTunes if you have it open.
Next, you'll need to make sure you are set up to view hidden files and folders in Vista (or 7).
    1. From the Start menu, click Open.
    2. In the Organize menu, click Folder and Search Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
    5. Click OK.
Next, you'll remove the iTunes preference folder (and contained file).
    6. In Computer, open Local Disk C:\ or whichever drive your documents are stored on.
    7. Open the Users folder.
    8. Open the folder with the name of the Vista (or 7) user account in which iTunes isn't showing the Custom AAC options.
    9. Open the AppData folder.
    10. Open the Roaming folder.
    11. Open the Apple Computer folder.
    12. Drag the iTunes folder out onto the Desktop.
Now you'll rebuild the preference folder and file.
    13. Launch iTunes. This will cause iTunes to rebuild that preference folder and file. The iTunes Setup Assistant will run. Do not add files to your library when prompted to do so. Otherwise you'll end up with a library full of duplicates.
Once iTunes has launched, check your importing preferences again. Do you get the AAC options again?

  • Firefox 3.6.16 won't keep the "custom settings for history", thus causing page-load issues - any clue how to make it "stick"?

Ever since I updated to Firefox 3.6.x I am getting constant page-load errors on apps in Facebook. I've cleared the history, the cache, cookies... and will literally set it for the "custom history settings" in my tools/options/privacy tab, reload the page, it's fine. I go to another page and come back to the app (same window) and get the error message again. Back to tools/options/privacy and "Remember History" is showing, rather than the custom settings. This is happening incessantly.

I also have this problem and it just started in the last week or so. It seems to be dependent on my home network and the problem only exists with firefox. I have used chrome and IE8 with no issues. I can verify tomorrow that it only exists in my network but one thing I was able to test is that the problem exists even on my linux boot. I am totally dumbfounded with this problem and I can't find anything that will allow the gmail page to load. All other pages I have tried load fine, all be it a little slower than normal but they load. If anyone knows of a difference between firefox and all other browsers on how it goes through the router I would appreciate the info cause I don't know of any differences.

  • Firefox 7.0.1 ignoring custom settings for 'Clear History'

I have a MacBook Pro with OS 10.6.8 and Firefox 7.0.1
Under Preferences > Privacy, I have custom settings to clear browsing history every time Firefox closes.
However, when I relaunch Firefox, the 'Restore Previous Session' is highlighted under the History menu and I can restore the previous session.
    How is this happening?
    Thank you.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js [2] and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).
