No Data from SAP R/3 to SAP BW

Hi there,
I am attempting to activate the standard BW Business Content for HR | Personnel Administration
I have activated InfoSource | Personnel Adminstration(PA-PA) as well as InfoArea | Personnel Adminstration(0PAPA)
Hence, managed to map :-
InfoSource EMPLOYEE | 0HR_PA_0 to DataSource 0HR_PA_0-Employee
InfoSource PERSONNEL ACTIONS | 0HR_PA_1 to DataSource 0HR_PA_1-Personnel Actions
InfoSource 'Headcount' | (0HR_PA_PA_1) has NOT been assigned to any data source
Hence, when I preview my InfoCube Headcount and Personnel Actions | (0PA_C01) I can see only the values for 0EMPLOYEE . I cannot see the other values such as 0PERSON, 0ACTIONAREA, 0ORGUNIT, 0PERS_AREA, 0AGE, 0COMP_CODE or the other standard fields
I have checked the InfoType's in SAP R/3 and there are values in the respective tables.
Please advice on this ! Appreciate a quick responce
P/S: We're on BW 3.5

Made reference to SAP Note 336229.
Maintained my Transfer Rules of Data Source 0HR_PA_PA_1 to Info Source 0HR_PA_PA_1 and all is green! Unfortunately, still NO data and error IDOC message is " The data request was a full update. In this case, the corresponding table in the source system does not contain any data." 
The extractor of the DataSource reads the master data tables of the Employee (0EMPLOYEE) and person (0PERSON) InfoObjects and makes changes to these time-dependent attributes available as headcount changes...says SAP
Info Object person (0PERSON) works!!!, however Info Object(0EMPLOYEE) is giving me problem whereby in SAP R/3 Data Source (Employee - Education and Training) 0EMPLOYEE_0022_ATTR allows time overlapping of records, BUT BW generates an error " The time interval ['99991231'/'19930104'] & (from/to) for the data records 46 and 47 overlaps in characteristic 0EMPLOYEE "
For example, lets assume there is Employee X with the following entry in SAP R/3.
 Begin Date End Date SubType
 01.09.2003 01.09.2004 Professional Cert.
 01.09.2003 01.09.2006 Degree
 SAP R/3 allows this overlapping of time records however, BW does NOT. How can I tackle this overlapping issue in SAP BW?

Hi Manish,
From my experience, you cannot change an existing attribute of a set type (esp. when it has a dependency).
You need to delete the attribute, save the changes and then re-create the attribute with new value table.
Also remove any dependencies before deleting the attribute.

Extraction of InfoCube data from BW system to non SAP system

Hello All,
Is the extraction of InfoCube data from BW system to non SAP system availbale only for BW 3.5 release ? If yes, how can we extract the InfoCube data to a non SAP system with SAP BW 3.1 ?

Yes I know that open hub service is the appropriate technique to extract data from the infocube.
But if we look at SAP Netweaver documentation : Prior to SAP NetWeaver '04(since the SAP BW release I am working is 3.1); We find that we have the option to extract to a DB table or flat file.
Now if we look at SAP Netweaver documentation : SAP NetWeaver '04; In addition to the above we have the option to extract to a non SAP system.
My requirment is to extract data from InfoCube to a non SAP system. The SAP BW release I am using is 3.1

Problem accessing data from Destination: dest:FP_ICF_DATA_ SID //sap/bc/fp/

This error message has many threads. However, I have not seen any postings for NW CE 7.1. The configuration for this version of JAVA and ADS is very different from any of the documentation that we have found. We suspect a config issue but cannot find any pertinent documentation for ADS configuration and NW CE 7.1 (we are SP11).
Where can we find ADS configuration documentation for NW CE 7.1?
Please help.
So far, we are mainly using test FP_CHECK_DESTINATION_SERVICE which seems to prove that the destination configuration is the problem. Fortunately, some of the configuration was automated. But not all.

Thanks for the help, so far. I have gotten one step closer by manually starting all processes and services related to Adobe Document Services. CE 7.1 is quite a bit different.
I can now get a byte count returned with the test FP_CHECK_DESTINATION_SERVICE in SE38 without checking the "with destination service" box. When I check the box, I still get the "Problem accessing data from Destination: dest:FP_ICF_DATA_<SID>//sap/bc/fp/ message".
The problem is related to the return of the rendering service from the Java side via the Java destination service.
Note that the ABAP side with the problem is ECC 6.0 EHP3 SP1.

We can either use the BDC or BAPI or LSMW or Direct Input techiniques for the data transfers.
The combination of both Session and Call transaction can be used to achieve this that includes the error handling also. This invloves the screen interaction.
These days, BAPIs are used to overvome some upgrade problems. For easy upgradation, we cna go for BAPIs. Here ther is no screen intercation.
LSMW mainly used for master data transfers using some standrad programs.
As per your client or company desicions we can choose any of them.

Yes, it is very much possible, But as per SAP suggestion we never update any SAP table directly, as many other tables are link with each other, so the better way is to update any table by means of calling BAPI's.
Suggestions :
1.Gather all changes reqd into an int table. Then use an ABAP statement - Export to memory and then submit and return command which executes a z program. Inside the zprogram, write a small code which will import the int table and then update the ztable.
2.If you have the table in your BSP as an internal table (example: wt_mytable), and the ABAP table is called mytable, you can use this code:modify mytable from wt_mytable.
This will add new entries and modify existing ones, based on the contents of your internal table wt_mytable.

Taking time data from external system(KRONOS) into SAP

I have to intergrate my time managemnt to time recording machine(KRONOS) am not aware about that it's sap certified or not .How we can access the data from that machine and insert in sap tables that means we have to communicate sap to non sap system.I don't have to use the BDC because i have to update our table according to machine shall i go for IDOC and EDI.In that case which IDOC or EDI i have to use .I have to create the INBOUND interface for that .Kindly help me am stuck

Hi Sandeep,
You require a abap guy along with a basis person. Below steps are required.
Step 1: The third party ll specify the file format in which they are going to send the data.
Step 2. You need to check with the basis or a third tool to upload the file into SAP application directory tcode al11.
step 3: Then the ABAP guy will write a interface program using this BAPIs to upload the data in to catsdb.
Step 4. Then functional testing and bug fixing and finially sheduling the inteface job in Production.

In addition to what Thierry mentioned you could also use the C4C integration via standard Operational Data Provisioning (ODP) interfaces. This integration was acutally built for SAP BW and allows you to access any C4C data sources. From my perspective you can also build upon that for a native SAP HANA integration. Please also have a look at this guide: How To... load SAP Business Suite data into SAP... | SAP HANA.
Besides that question let me also add the following: SAP Cloud for Customer already runs on SAP HANA since Nov. 2013. You may also use the powerful built-in analytics within C4C for analyzing data and any of your reporting demands. If your report should consider external data as well, you can combined the existing C4C data source with an external, so-called Cloud Data Source. Work with data from a table of another SAP R/3 system

I want to work with data from a table of another system. I know there's a function called 'RFC_READ_TABLE' but I don't know really how it works. What I want to do is to get data from that system and pass it to the one where I'm working in order I can continue working with this data in the report.
Besides, I'd like to select only the records that have some conditions.
I'd appreciate if someone could tell how to do it, whether with FM 'RFC_READ_TABLE' or in another way.

Yes, you can use RFC_read_table .You can pass the number of columns but I recommend you to bring all results in your internal table after that you can filter the records. Most of the time I have notice when you make RFC call with this FM to another system it works but it may also happen that other system controlling authorization and then it might give you nothing. As I face this problem on my last Project.

How to read the data from a PDF document into SAP

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to read a PDF document from my desktop and get the data into SAP but i am not getting successful.
I am using the method cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_upload and passing the filename and type and importing the file length and the data into an internal table.
I tried the file type as ASC but i couldn't get any records in the internal table and the filelength is displayed as 0.
When i tried the file type as BIN, it is giving the short dump. I guess that is because the file i am trying to read is not with the extension BIN.
Please Advice me on this

Reading data from a Table Cluster sans SAP code

I need to read data at the database level from a cluster table. That is to say, I want to decompress the VARDATA column that is in
the database table and interpreet it with my own code.
I've read all the SAP help documents on the subject, and I have created a test Table Cluster (the physical object) and associated test Cluster Tables (the logical tables) with the Table Cluster, but the data is compressed at the at the database level and incomprehensible.
I realize one can use ABAP and OPEN SQL to read the table, because that goes through the SAP database interface. I could
also call a BAPI from an external program, but I don't want to do that.
I need to read the data directly from the database without going through the SAP database interface or calling any SAP code. I
am willing to write the required code in another language, I just need to know how the data is compressed in the cluster, so I can
decompress it.
1. Does anyone know how to decode the information stored in a table cluster WITHOUT using SAP code?
2. If no one knows how to do (1), does anyone know what compression algorithm SAP uses when storing data in the table cluster?
3. Is there a specification or layout that explains exactly how the VARDATA column in a table cluster is structured, so that once I
decompress it, I can figure out what data belonged to which table and column?
If you even have a guess as to the compression algorithm or layout of VARDATA, I would be interested to hear it.

Hi All,
The question is still open, waiting for points to be awarded. Fidel's answer didn't really help. I already know that I currently can't read the cluster, that's why I posted the question.
I would think SAP uses a known compression algorithm for the clusters, so the most important thing is finding out what the algorithm is, and finding out if SAP does anything weird to the compression headers.
Someone has to know out there!

DQM moving data from STREET 2 field in SAP to STREET 3 field

During the address cleanse function by DQM, it is currently taking the information I have supplied in SAP field STREET2 and moving and/or copying it to STREET3. Does anyone know what is causing this or what the logic is being used to determine that this information belongs in the STREET 3 field in SAP?
