No data in Canada

I got my Droid X less than 3 weeks ago and was in Toronto this week and no 3g which was ok but also had no data access. I tried to use maps...no go and tried to check email - no go... was told i had no data connection. I had my settings on automatic and saw the blinking blue triangle up top. I could do all of the above when i was in wifi location. When I had by BB curve, I could do all the above and of course no wifi on that .. so could someone clear this up for me or do I have to return it. I like it so far but I go to Canada often and if I cant have data capability , I will have to change phones... thank you

I have provided some information below on enabling roaming while you are outside of the United States.
Enabling Data roaming – In order to use data outside of the U.S. the device needs to enable data roaming. I have provided the link below on how to do this.
http://search.vzw.com/?do=viewdoc&id=33954&p=null
***Please be advised that enabling data roaming may incur roaming charges while outside of the U.S. I have posted a link below on rates for using data outside of the U.S:
http://b2b.vzw.com/international/Global_Email/North_America/Canada.html (click the drop down menu for more countries)
You may also want to check your system selection. I have provided those steps below:
-Select menu
-Select settings
-Select Wireless & Network settings
-Select Mobile networks
-Select System select
-Enable Automatic mode
I hope this information was helpful.

  • How to I get data in Canada

I called and got signed up for international data and can't actually get connected and get my email and data.  Phone is working ok and I have been in the "settings, cellular data, and have everything enabled.....but it still doesn't work.  I have also tried to connect to different carriers and reboot....no luck.  Any suggestions would be great as I need to get connected for work email.

Mark48long you will need to update your roaming status by dialing *228 from your device anytime you are out of the service area.. also go into your settings and make sure it is set to accept roam.. let us know if this clears up the issues with the roaming..
the following has also been located in the coverage area under My Verizon ..and explains better on the settings on your phone.

Although CDMA coverage is available in many areas in Canada and Mexico, for best performance and coverage we recommend a 4G Quad Band UMTS Global Ready device.
4G Global Ready devices will automatically select GSMA digital wireless technology included in Verizon Wireless Global Ready mobile devices to use for placing calls and transmitting data while traveling abroad in certain areas. The Verizon Wireless network primarily uses CDMA technology for voice services, but GSM is used widely in Europe and other parts of the world. While traveling in countries that use GSM technology, you’ll need a Global Ready device to communicate on their network. Devices that only use CDMA technology aren’t compatible with GSM networks. • Canadian Using NationWide Canada + 29.99 Unlimited Data Plan

I think this question has been answered before, however I just finished talking to 2 seperate customer service reps online and I get a different story.
I live in Canada but work in the US quite frequently.
I use a Rogers Digital One rate for Canada and the US but am interested in switching to
Verizons NationWide + Canada 900 plan and the 29.99 unlimited data.
I understand that I can use the phone anywhere in canada and the us without roaming charges up to 900 mins.
However can I use the unlimited data package with this plan in CANADA and not get charged any additional fees?
    The $2 per meg...
Both customer service reps told me there we no additional fees for data in canada.. unlimited..
Is there anyone who has experience using these 2 plans, and data in Canada? Do you or do you not get charged extra??
    Thanks!

And this again from another live chat rep, I also asked him to ask a manager.
Next step to see what the 1800 number rep says...
Getting frustrating to find a consistent answer.
Please wait for a Verizon Wireless sales representative to assist you with your order. Thank you for your patience!
A Verizon Wireless online pre-sales specialist has joined the chat. You are now chatting with Zachery
Zachery: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service.  May I help you with your order today?
Jason: I'm abit confused about a plan.. I'll explain as best as I can
    Zachery: ok
Jason: I want the NationWide Plus 900 Canada plan and The Unlimted Email and Web Browsing on a droid x
Jason: I live in canada, work in the US so I want to use the phone in both countries.
    Jason: my main question is:
Jason: When I am in Canada and use DATA will I be charged anything extra other than the 29.99
Jason: I have had 4 reps here tell me I will not be charged.. however I went to the store and the rep tells me I will be charged $2 meg and suggests I use some Global data plan for 64.99..
Zachery: No there will be no extra and you can add the canada plan through customer service after you order.
Jason: so the rep at the store is wrong?
Zachery: To my knowledge, yes. Calling customer service would be the best way to find out though because it will have to be added through them if the data plan he was talking about does exist.
    Zachery: 1-800-922-0204
Jason: so your telling me I do not need to have this Global Data plan while I am in canada, the 29.99 unlimted data plan will not cost me anything extra while I am in Canada... I will call the number you gave me
Jason: providing I have the Nationwide Plus Canada 900 plan too
Zachery: Yes, that is what our info says but yes that number would bet the final call you will need to make.
Jason: Do you have a manager by any chance you could ask this question 2. I am just getting a little fustrated at the different answers I get
Zachery: I can ask them but the number will still be the best way to find out.
Zachery: It is not handled in our dept so we only have limited info.
Jason: If you could ask I would appreciate. I will also call the number
Zachery: Yes she said there would be no extra charge
Jason: ok thanks I will call.
Zachery: Thank you for visiting Verizon Wireless, I look forward to speaking with you again.  Have a great day!

  • Canadian buy ipad 3G in US and use it in Canada

I am living in Canada and plan going to the State to buy a ipad wifi with 3G in US because it is cheaper than Canada. Does anyone know the ipad 3G bought in US and also use in Canada (use ipad data plan with Rogers)? Is the sim is unlocked that I can use it anywhere?
    Thanks.

    HI,
It may be cheaper to buy in the U.S., but the data plan could be a glitch.
You may find help here at the Apple / Canada store. http://www.apple.com/ca/contact/

  • CCS-ISU - Change address data

    Hi there
We are on CCS-ISU running version SAP ERP 6.04 with Enhancement Package 4 on NetWeaver 7.02.
I have a request to change multiple street names in the system.
    Example:
    Old street: King George Highway
    New street: King George Boulevard
Is there delivered functionality in SAP CCS-ISU that will mass update address data on customer accounts?

    Hi there
Thanks for the information regarding the Quarterly Adjustment reports.  We have some questions/concerns before we proceed with the Quarterly Adjustment.
    Background:
    - Since the original migration in 2003, the Postal Regional Structure has not been updated.
    - There has been no regular import of current postal data
    - The Regional Structure currently contains outdated and incorrect address information
    - The original source of data was a combination of legacy data and Canada Post, but going forward we would like to use only Canada Post as the sole source of address information.
-Ideally we would like to "wipe out" the existing Regional Structure and replace with ONLY Canada Post data
    Questions:
    1. Can the Quarterly adjustment functionality be used if current data has not been imported regularly? (there have been no imports of new data since the original implementation in 2003)
    2. The original source of data came from a blend of legacy and Canada Post, now we would like to replace all the data with Canada Post being the only source. Can the source of the data be changed? Will the relationship between the BP address tables and Regional Structure be maintained? Can the Regional Structure be "wiped out" and replaced with all new data?
    3. Are there any alternative methods to updating the Postal Regional Structure and all CCS addresses if the Quarterly Adjustment cannot be used?

  • Will macbook pro ship to canada now if purchased

I just bought the new macbook pro from Apple Store Canada and I am wondering if they won't ship it until the release date in Canada. (which is estimated to be around june 22)
Since the U.S. receives it earlier then Canada will I have to wait 2 weeks to receive what I already paid for.

They are selling it now and say 1-3 days and I have never heard of a release date here any different from the US. Nothing shows up on the Apple Store in Canada or the US they are not selling.

  • I'm trying to sort out the iPad carrier choices

    Dear Folks,
I'm going to get an iPad Air to replace my iPad3 (Verizon version), but I can't figure out the diffferences between the four carrier plans. Here's what I care about:
    1) Mobile hotspot. The reason I switched to Verizon from ATT when I got my iPad3 was because the data plan included hotspot capability at no extra charge. Do either Sprint or TMobile include this in their standard data plans for the iPad?
    2) Out-of-US use. What I find I don't like about Verizon is that there's no real way to get international use on the month-to-month plan. ATT would let me buy data for Canada (albeit expensive). But with my Verizon iPad, the only option is to buy a SIM card. Do either Sprint or TMobile offer better out-of-country arrangements?
The two countries I care about are Canada and the UK.
    Thanks!
    Ctein

Check to make sure the album title is exactly the same. If there is a trailing space after the title, that becomes a different album.
Look at what happens in the screenshots below. In the first image, track 3 is out of place:
If I then highlight the Album title in that track, which shows every character in the field:
    but take out the space:
    and click OK...
... and the track is now where it should be.

Settings→General→Reset→Subscriber Services→Reset Account.  When I go from SubscriberServives, it wants either an Reprovication, or Reset Authentification (WHICH WANTS AN SPC CODE ) I do not know WHAT SPC Code is.  Every 'code' I put in is Wrong!!  I have 4more hours with ViaRail WIFI!!!

  • Rock Band 3

On the release date in Canada, the 26th of October our store received only the game. And a couple of guitars, I heard from my manager that other instruments (Keyboard, drums etc.) were not shipped out and that they will be coming soon. Is this true in the states?
I also heard that the products will be made by a third party company, MadCatz, which in my opinion has very cheaply made products...
It's kid of useless to just have the game in my opinion!

Well, I have the keyboard and the stand and the keyboard feels solid and responds very well when played.  The stand is very helpful but it does have a slight wobble to it. I have no idea how their pro guitar holds up though. I'm holding out for the squier.  I share your opinion in that MadCatz is usually pretty low quality, but the keyboard doesn't feel bad at all! Of course, I have only had it for four days.

  • Problem with PB10

    Hi,
I have a BDC program to create applicants through Tcode PB10. Previously this program was used to upload applicants for US alone & now i want to use it to upload data for Canada also.
When i try to use this program, for the first iteration it displays the the PB10 US screen (Screen no 110)  and from the second iteration it starts giving the PB10 Canada screen (Screen no 0107). This happens irrespective of the country to which i want to upload the data.
Can you please let me know how the PB10 Tcode works for different countries and where is this customization maintained in SAP.
    Any pointers will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
But in the BDC program we are just calling the PB10 transaction code and we don't specify any screen numbers there. The problem occurs here. The screen number should be basically determined by the User parameters "Molga" & "User group". But is not happening in that way.
We do specify the screen number only when we fill the values in the PB10 screen and not while calling the PB10 transaction code.

  • I want to take my apple tv from my home in Canada and us it at the Cabin in the States, but can't seem to get it to set up in the states?  It just keeps asking for time and date over and over.

I changed my data plan from 6g to 8g while my daughter who attends college outside of the US at Toronto Canada (and we have on a international calling and international data plan) was on spring break at her grandparents house here in the US. I made the change online since I had been waiting on the phone for over 10 minutes for a customer service rep to come available. Well when I made the change online since that seems to be the thing that Verizon wants it's customers to do and I didn't see all the different plans available and just did the upgrade to 8g. Next bill had over $900 in roaming charges on her phone line. I called the 1-800 number and waiting for a service rep and after 20 minutes of waiting and being put on hold was told it was the customers mistake and there was nothing they could do.Thanks for nothing. I called back after thinking about it and wondered why changing a data plan for the phones in the US would change a international call plan. Waiting over 10 minutes again between waiting for a service rep and hold for one to answer the call. Gave her all the information about it and she said she would call back. Well, 4 days later over the weekend she had nevered called back. So on the phone again for the third time and after 20 plus minutes again was told that when I did it online I click the plan that didn't include international call only the data plan. Explained that I never saw the difference in the plan packages so put on hold again and was told that they could credit $100 to my bill. Wow, thanks alot !!! We have been Verizon customers for probably atleast 12 years and this is how you treat your long term customers?

i have an iphone 3G 16GB 4.2.1 - i moved back to canada and got telus mobile service. they cant get phone working because cellular data network tab/button is not on my phone. How do i get it on there

OK. T-Mobile is NOT owned by AT&T... yet... The deal hasn't gone through yet. T-Mobie's US network is not compatible with the iPhone. Lots of things don't work right. There is not, and never has been an unlocked 3G sold in the US. Don't know where the phone originated, but more than likely it was in the US. If that's the case, the phone has been hacked/jailbroken to get it to work.
Have you tried doing a restore or restoring the phone as new? I have to warn you, if you do so and the phone is hacked/jailbroken, it will re-lock to AT&T and will become unusalbe.  I think your best bet right now might be to save yourself a lot of grief and just upgrade to new phone from a legitimate source.
I would never even consider buying an iPhone on ebay. 99% or more are hacked, jailbroken and/or stolen.

  • Why are MORE EVERY Canada/Mexico plans not included in Double data promo?

Very frustrated that i cant take advantage of the double data promo for my family plan because I pay extra to be able to call out of country. I currently have the "More Every Canada/mexico 14Gb" plan and really wanted the 30gb option being offered,

Extremely disappointed with customer service. I spoke with a Chat representative and messed up my acct by changing it to a plan that is completely different, What is irritating is that I even confirmed the Plan/cost/promo that we talked about and she confirmed it effective for begging of next billing cycle. She stated it was approved by her supervisor. I log into my acct and a completely different change was made effective immediately(can/mex 20gb for $30 more than what I currently pay.. Now i have to call back next month to ask for difference of my actual plan cost and the random one I was put on. I can understand Verizon not letting those plans participate in a promo, but the time i wasted and will have to waste because of a chat representative is just unacceptable. CS response was just to cal back and ask for a credit.... great!

  • Date Format dd-mm-yy is wrong for Canada, should be yyyy-mm-dd

The official standard in Canada for dates is yyyy-mm-dd as in ISO 8601 and CSA Z234.5:1989, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO8601usage, other wise we get confusion between the US mm-dd and UK dd-mm formats both often seen in Canada. The Federal Government and Province of Ontario both use ISO 8601, just look at your Drivers License.
Unfortunately there seems to be no means of correcting this in System Preferences/International/Format when you select Canada and programs such as Firefox then pick up the incorrect mm-dd-yy format and use and print it in the footer.
Could Apple either change the default Canadian Format to the correct YYYY-MM-DD or at least allow users to make this correction themselves?

I use Y/M/D all the time. It's not a Canadian format, it's an international format. The US military has always used it, and many people here have used it for years and prefer it. I believe most of Europe also uses it.
I find no problem setting it up that way, using the international preferences. There is nothing for Apple to change or fix.
If FireFox does something else, then your issue is with FireFox, not Apple.
