"No device drivers" problem during Enterprise Linux installation

I want to try and see Oracle Enterprise Linux, so I downloaded prepared for the setup. This is a home pc, I use windows upto now and this is the first time I tried to install Linux on this one, here is my configuration;
Mainboard : Gigabyte m61vme-s2 s940
Cpu : AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1,8Ghz
Hd : Samsung 80Gb 72000 rpm 8Mb Sata (2 disks)
When the installer starts first this message box comes;
- WARNING -
No hard drivers have been found. You probably need to manually choose device drivers for the installation to succeed.
Then I continue and;
- DEVICES -
No deivce drivers have been loaded for your system. (Add Device) button
when I click this button a list comes;
- SELECT DEVICE DRIVER TO LOAD -
Please select the driver below which you wish to load. If it does not appear and you have driver disk press F2.
here I both tries to continue with F2 or choose some of the items which I thought may be ok to continue but each time the anaconda installation failed at the Automatic Partitioning step with this message;
- NO DRIVERS FOUND -
An error has occured - No valid devices were found on which to create new file systems. Please check your hardware for the cause of this problem.
I can use these disks with windows, but still if any hardware problems I do have how can I get detail troubleshooting information? Any links for resources like how to guides will be great.
Thank you,
Best regards.

I recently (two weeks ago) did a complete rebuild on a AMD 64 system similiar to your configuration with CentOS 4.3 (a RedHat ES clone) and had no problem with the SATA (only) drive being picked up by the OS installer. I remember originaly (a year ago) having to carefully set the MB BIOS to go to this bus first to look for boot drives and NOT look to the IDE bus at all. I will review my system install docs when I get home later...

    Hi all,
    this issue is normal.
I always got this error when installing/patching the J2EE and components.
If J2EE is yellow, wait for it to be green and choose resume.
If it is green, resume. If it does not work, restart the J2EE as stated.
Note 739190 is supposed to be a solution, but it changed anything for me.

  • What device drivers are compatible with Linux C platform?

I'm trying to identify a device or devices to give me 16 analogue outputs, 1 digital output and 3 digital inputs. Preferably this would use an Ethernet interface but USB would be acceptable. The software controlling the device(s) would be written in C running on Linux.
I've done lots of searching on the NI website and it's starting to look like there are just a handful of USB devices which are compatible with Linux if using the NI-DAQmx Base 3.6 drivers. Is that correct? I also read a page on the NI-DAQmx Base drivers which states 'Developers creating applications for Windows and Linux-based systems should consider using the latest in full-featured NI-DAQmx.' but I can't find any version of (full) NI-DAQmx that list Linux in their supported OS list.
I would appreciate any clarification anyone can offer.
    Thanks.

NI provides Linux support for a subset of the USB DAQ devices via NI-DAQmx Base [1], where the "Base" means subset. The USB devices supported there are: USB-621x, USB-6008/9, USB-6501, and the NI cDAQ modules 9211, 9214, 9233, and 9234 in the USB-9162 single-slot sleeve.

  • Different Problems during Business Content Installation in BI 7.0

    HI GURUs,
I'm working on BI 7.0. Here I'm trying to do business content installation and facing the following problems.
    Question 1:
Let's say when I'm trying to install 0MATERIAL infoobject
    Scenario 1:
( with Necessary Objects as Grouping),  the job is finishing succesfully, but when I look for 0MATERIAL in Infoobjects of Modelling it is found in Unassigned characteristics Node where as it should have been in 0MMIC_CHA01 Catalog & secondly it's not in Active state. When I tried to manually activate it I'm getting the error stated in Fig 1b of attachment.
When I tried for Object Maintanance of 0MATERIAL in Business Content Screen i'm getting the same error (Fig 1a & 1b).
    Scenario 2:
(_with Dataflow before and afterwards as Grouping_). In this scenario i'm getting the issue shown in fig 2. I would like to understand why this issue is popping up, specially the source system issue.
Note:  The Figures are found in the file attached with this link.........
               [Bi Content INstallation Error Doc|http://rapidshare.com/files/269891244/BI_Content_Installation_Errors.doc.html]
    Question 2:
Why are many of the infoobjects like 0Customer, 0Material etc getting assigned to Unassigned Characteristics instead of getting assigned to their respective Characteristic catalogs.
Note:  It would be much more helpful if the solution is provided with reference to SAP Note, though alternate solution is always welcome.
Hoping for a early optimistic solution.
    Regards,
    Syed Shujaath Ali.

    Hi,
Maintain the material number length in your BW system, tcode- OMSL. Due to this you are getting error, conversion settings are not found for 0material. Check in your source system, what is the material number length has mantained by functional team.
    It will sove your issue.

  • Sign in problem ( in enterprise linux on Vmware)

I am new to oracle . i am using vmware and have installed RHEL 4 in it . and i have been working on oracle 10g release 2 . it worked fine for a couple of months
I have oracle and root user ids.
when i try to login as oracle it shows me the below message
"Your session only lasted less than 10 seconds. If you have not logged out yourself, this could mean that there is some installation problem or that you may be out of diskspace. Try logging in with one of the failsafe sessions to see if you can fix this problem"
it tells me to check the ~/.Xsession-error file ... i neither could locate this file .
But i could login as root and use the oracle account and start the DB listeners etc .
any help will be very good

This doesn' seem to be an Oracle but an OS issue.

    ompat-gcc-34-3.4.6-4.i386.rpm

TerryThank you so much for your help, Terry.
I was installing Oracle9iR2 last night on EL5 but ran into problem around 17% of the installation (stopped at copying of naeet.o). Then I realised that those packages were missing. Now I know the reason is because the versions are higher.
What do you think? Is EL4 U4 a better option to setup Oracle9iR2 or I should still stay with EL5 but downgrade the packages? I need a lot of time to download EL CDs as my bandwidth is limited. If I really need to, I may just tear down EL5 and install EL4 U4. Please advise

  • Installing Oracle 9iR2 on Oracle Enterprise Linux

    Hi.
Has anyone had success in installing oracle 9iR2 on Oracle Enterprise Linux release 5? I found some sites such as http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle9i.shtml
and http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/install/files/oracle9r2installonrh9.txt. I followed these but since they are not specific to oracle enterprise linux installs, i think there is stuff missing. I loaded all the libraries they reccommended, but when i run the installer, i get Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle.sysman.oii.oiic.OiicInstaller at java.lang.Class.initializeClass(libgcj.so.7rh)
caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.ewt.lwAWT.BufferedFrame not found in gnu.gcj.runtime.SystemClassLoader
    Can someone assist?

That's right. OEL5 has to be verified against the supported versions and workarounds and or patches will be released by Oracle so these issues can be solved. In the mean time, OEL4 has to be used.

  • Labwindows cvi 2010 sp1 Device drivers

    Hi all
I am trying to install cvi 2010 sp1 and it is asking for the Device Drivers for the program, where can I find the drivers for the sp1.
    To finish installing
I have some older drivers but what is the latest for sp1
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Iriddick,
You can choose to not install the Device Drivers with CVI and you will not get that window.  You can also cancel installing the Device Drivers without cancelling the CVI installation.  If you would like to install the Device Drivers, you can find the latest version by searching for "device drivers" at the ni.com main page.  The current latest version is the NI Device Drivers 2011.08.

I'm facing the same error message while install Siebel 8.0 on OEL. But before I had this ksh problem, it complains about disc space first, and I actually has plenty of disk space under the directory (it needs only 0.7 G and I have 17G free). Anybody has encountered such problem before?

  • Oracle Enterprise Linux 6.1 Installation Fails during Disk Partitioning

    Hi,
I've tried to install Oracle Enterprise Linux 6.1 by creating a Virtual Machine using Oracle VM Virtual Box in my laptop with Window XP host OS (NTFS filesystem), by following the below steps.
    1) Installed Oracle VM Virtual Box
    2) Created a new Virtual machine using a virtual box by specifying the two .iso images i.e OracleLinux-R6-U1-Server-i386-dvd.iso and boot.iso as the boot device and by specifying the following Disk files (.vdi) as follows.
    2.1) Oracle_Enterprise_Linux_6_1_Root_Disk_1.vdi - For the / (i.e Root) partition - Dynamically expanded storage - 10 GB - ext4
    2.2) Oracle_Enterprise_Linux_6_1_Swap_Disk_1.vdi - For the swap partition - Dynamically expanded storage - 10 GB - swap
    2.3) Oracle_Enterprise_Linux_6_1_User_Disk_1.vdi - For the /usr partition - Dynamically expanded storage - 20 GB - ext4
    2.4) Oracle_Enterprise_Linux_6_1_Home_Disk_1.vdi - For the /home partition - Dynamically expanded storage - 10 GB - ext4
But while installing OEL 6.1 after specifying the partitions, the installer get hung and throws an error as bug while creating the ext4 filesystem on /dev/sda1.
I tried to specify the default 8 GB for all the above four partitions, the installer successfully continues without any issues. But if i specify any partition more than 8 GB, it fails.
Is there anyway I can solve this problem by creating the above specified partitions with the above size ? Why does it fail if i specify any size more than 8 GB ?
    Thanks
    Harish

8 GB is a common limit for systems were the boot loader or system BIOS imposes an addressable space limit for the boot partition. In such situations, the system boot partition has to fit within the first 8 GB physical boundary of the harddrive.
Your setup seems a bit unusual. Why do you create separate disks for each Linux partition?
Normally the Linux installer creates necessary partitions on the disk, including a /boot partition that is usually only 100 MB in size.
What are you doing with boot.iso? You should be able to start the system from the main installation DVD or .iso image. You might also want to install x86_64 Linux, unless your hardware is really very old and does not support the 64-bit extension. You can run 32-bit software on a n 64-bit OS, but not the other way around and you will limit your software to 32-bit only.

  • Yast installation problem on Oracle Enterprise Linux Rel 5 Upd 2

    Hi,
I installed Oracle Enterprise Linux Rel 5 Upd 2 on a new server (Intel 64 bit) with the downloads from oracle
    (Enterprise-R5-U2-Server-x86_64-disc1.iso till Enterprise-R5-U2-Server-x86_64-disc6.iso).
Then I wanted to install Yast for administering my machine and downloaded yast_el5_x86_64.tar, again from Oracle. Running the Yast install routine it required the perl-Digest-SHA package. I downloaded that from Oracle ULN and installed it.
Now, running the Yast install routine again, I get a bunch of warnings and errors about failed dependencies and NOKEY's.
Here I copied a part of it:

What's wrong here and what is to do?
I only installed packages from Oracle on a newly installed machine. And I didn't find documentation regarding these problems.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Roger
