"No devices" on Find My iPhone

I lost my iphone yesterday, and after going back to all the places I might have left it (Starbucks, grocery store, my car, etc.) I still couldn't find it. So about 7:00 last night I went into Find My Iphone just in case I had missed something. Unfortunately it told me my phone was "offline"--the battery must have been dead, so it couldn't be traced. I did not lock it or anything like that.
So this morning I did another sweep, and tried Find My Iphone again, just in case it magically had battery life again. But now it says "No Devices. Set up your iCloud account on an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or Mac to use Find My iPhone". Of course I had previously set it up on my iPhone. Is this normal when your phone has been missing a while (it's only been ~24 hours)? Or is it an indication that my phone was stolen, and that it has been wiped?

This is an indication that the person that found your phone has most likely restored it as new and they have a free iPhone.

  • IPhone isn't showing up in My Devices on "Find my iPhone" page

I recently lost my iPhone 4 at an airport (or on the plane). When I first got the phone, I installed the Find my Phone app connected through MobileMe, though I don't think it was installed at the time of losing it. Fast forward to now...
I've logged into Find my Phone (now hosted on icloud.com) and I can see my iPad listed under the "My Devices", but not my iPhone. The battery is now dead as I've called it, but shouldn't it still show up in the My Devices list on the Find my iPhone page?
I'm wondering, if my iPhone doesn't show up in My Devices on Find my iPhone, does that mean it has been wiped?

Thanks, Winston. I thought I'd done that, but as that sounds like a post-iOS5 update thing, I probably didn't. The funny thing is, I don't remember doing ANY of this for my iPad, yet, that device still shows up under My Devices on the Find page. Hmm...

It's unfortunate that your device has been stolen.  You can report this to the police, but as has been answered before, if the device is restored you CANNOT locate it.
It probably is technically possible to track your device by the SIM; law enforcement will not waste their time doing so.  Besides, the thieves have probably changed it anyway.
While unfortunate your iPad is gone, you really need to move on.

Here's an interesting bit: iTunes will let me restore my iPod touch from backup: it's still running iOS 4.3.3. I figured as much... there's backups showing in the Preferences -> Devices list for both devices (and even my old, long gone iPod touch 2G), but my iPhone (on iOS5) isn't giving me any such option. I remember I had to downgrade before to get the backup restored (something went haywire in the setup assistant, and I couldn't restore a backup from iTunes there)... If it was possible to go to iOS 5.0 rather than 5.0.1 I would just do the same thing again, but iOS 5.0.1 isn't an option. I attached a screenshot. Hopefully Apple can get this nonsense sorted out; I think iOS 5 might be the root of this, somehow.

You can only locate, lock or erase your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.

  • HT201365 can i clear my device with find my iphone if the device is switched off

can i clear my device with find my iphone if the device is switched off

I'm kinda guessing here, but your phone was stolen and you want to lock it, but it is showing offline? You can send an lock request, and a delete request, but if it is offline, it will not be received until the device goes back online again. If  the device has the latest iOS on it, and Find My iPhone active, then it cannot be activated without your Apple ID and password. It will be a brick. And, if they try to activate, it will connect to the Internet and you will be able to track and the erase will activate.

  • Can I add multiple devices to "Find My iPhone" that have different Apple ID's?

I was just wondering if it was possible at all to add multiple devices to "Find My iPhone".  These devices however, have separate Apple ID's.  Is this still possible? And if so, how do I go about diong that?

The same way you do it for one. Just repeat the steps but first log into each account to add the device connected to that Apple ID.

  • Can't access photo stream. Phone cannot be turn on. The guy at genius bar deleted my device from "find my iphone" and now it's completely gone.

    Dear everyone,
My phone battery had been going worse and worse until it was completely dead two days ago. I booked the schedule at the apple store before it died and I've just been there today. The guy at the apple store asked me if I had the back up and told me to sign in to my iCloud, I did, then he clicked on "find my iphone" and deleted my device (my iphone). I didn't have a chance to do anything. The only thing I'm sure is that my photos from my phone had been automatically synchronized and I would like to have them back. I can't turn my phone on so it's impossible to connect to the internet and sign in. Please help.
