No Dialtone

Hello,
I currently require some assistance please.
Have had both my telephone line and broadband service installed two weeks ago (today), went to dial out today upon returning to my apartment to find that I have no dial tone. All I can hear is a bit of white noise/hissing and sometimes it reverts to a siren sound (heard when the telephone hasn't been put down properly).
Could I seek some assistance from a mod about having an engineer come out to take a look at the issue? Have tried connecting it through the test socket and alas it's still the same issue. Broadband is working though (fortunately).
Kind Regards
Hon

  • Landline - No Dialtone all of a sudden, never a problem for 14yrs... before now

I have a landline with Verizon. I live in Saratoga N.Y. and have had the same landline here for 14 years, without a problem...before today (Approx.). Even when the powers' been out, at least the phone would work (which is why I have a land line). Today, when I went to make a call, I picked up the phone, and there was only a very faint "hum", and no dialtone. Thinking something may just have happened to one of my jacks (or wires to it), I went and tried the other jack in my home, but the same problem was there too. I tried a different phone, angain also trying both jacks...same problem.Went to check the NID box outside** on the corner of the house, also same problem there, too. I then went to my neighbor, and checked to see if they had any problem, they did not.
**(NID box was a little different than shown, it had no jacks plugged into the receptacles...only a pair of wires going to red + green plastic screws right next to the receptacles). I know in the past it had the plus is described, but I have not seen the inside of that box in several years, and don't remember anyone coming to change anything. Not sure why they are not there now...
I just sent in a Repair Request Online, since it's the only means at my disposal now. Once it was submitted, it's status said (online) it should be repaired 2 days from now.
I am disabled, house-bound, and with no way to go anyplace. And now without a phone, I can't even make calls to make transportation arrangements, get perscriptions called in for refills, etc..... all of which I needed to get done today and tomorrow, naturally. (No, no cell phone, can't afford it, and that type of service has not been good in this area in the past, anyways).
I also don't understand why I would have a problem with a landline like this, when it's not affecting others nearby. Nothing has happened at my house (storm, utility work, etc.) to cause that kind of problem. I am also wondering if the Online Repair Request will be enough to get someone to fix it, since I have no way to be contacted without the phone working?
And lastly, When I checked the Status Online, it said something like "The number reported is part of an outage", which makes me wonder if that's just a standard "status reply"....otherwise, how it could be "part of an outage", if no one else next to me is having the same problem(s)???

Do not wait for the automated online ticket... especially if you have no other way of being gotten ahold of
Make contact with a real person...

  • SPA112 goes catatonic, crashes, no dialtone

Hi, I am a home user and ex-programmer. I'm using the Cisco SPA112 with the latest firmware 1.2.1 (004). Every two or three days the ATA          crashes.  Here are the symptoms:
         a) no dial tone
         b) line 1 LED is ON (as normal)
         c) ATA is PINGable
         d) IVR is unresponsive
         e) web setup URL does not respond, can not get to the setup page
         f) The reset button does not respond.
My only recourse now is the check if I have a dialtone every morning and, if not, pull and reinsert the power plug.   The cold boot of course results in the local log being lost.  Here is the log right after boot up.

Here are some things I have tried on my own, to no effect:
          a) Tried running with Provisioning/Firmware Upgrade/Upgrade set to false.
          b) Reloaded the firmware with IE.  Before, I did it with FireFox.
          c) Did a factory reset and re-entered the settings suggested for my ATA from Callcentric.
    How should I proceed?

I use an SPA112 with CallCentric. Now that the DDOS problems have subsided, my ATA continues to freeze pretty much every day. I have to power cycle first thing in the morning.
I have tried backing up the configuration, resetting the device, and restoring the configuration.
Log from recent boot shows some file system consistency errors.

  • Modem problem "no dialtone detected" even if wait for dialtone is not check

I am trying to install a external USB modem (mobile) on my PB 17" but when connecting PPP says no dialtone detected even if the box "wait for dialtone" is unchecked and should be according to the modem supplier.
Is there some way to clear or throw away some settings file in order to get the computer to re-think?

    Hello TribeBuckeyeFan,
After so much research, I'm sure you were excited to pickup a great DSLR camera and be on your way with some accessories due to bundle offers! I'm sorry to hear that you had such a frustrating experience that may have left you disappointed in your visit.
Per our Price Match Guarantee, we do not price match bundle offers. As bundles are excluded, your local store would have been following the Price Match Guarantee accurately in denying this request. I apologize if this has caused you any aggravation. With that said, we offer many DSLR camera bundles as you've seen that you are welcome to purchase.

  • SPA112 Crashes - No dialtone, restart needed

Yesterday morning, we picked up the phone to make a call via the SPA112 and there was no dialtone.  I disconnected/reconnected the power and then we were able to get a dialtone and make a call.  Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to see if the web-interface was up.  Am running the latest GA firmware, 1.1.0 (011) Feb 10 2012.  It had probably been running for only about 4 days or so since the last reboot.  Anyone else seeing stability issues?  (I thought I'd seen another older posting about someone having had to reboot their device regularly.  In addition, I saw the report about caller id's longer than 26 chars causing issues, but I haven't publicized my new number yet so it is unlikely that was the cause.)
Cisco, any suggestions on a way to capture additional debug info, other than keeping a logging server running?  Didn't see any unusual activity in the device logs.
    Dan

    Hello,
One thing I know crashes the SPA 122 on FW 1.1.0(011) is a "484 Address Incomplete".  If the box is running 1.0.1(022), it responds appropriately, and just sends reorder to the phone. Of course, that brings back all the issues that were fixed in 1.1.0.
I opened a case asking about trying the beta to see if it fixes the issues such as the DTMF problem, Caller ID problem, and this issue, but the tech. wanted configs, fresh packet caps, and all kinds of stuff that shouldn't be necessary given that some of the issues I mentioned are supposedly fixed.
He was real helpful with regard to the config migration from SPA 2102 in that the old config to xml migation only works with a specific version of the SPC tool, which isn't mentioned in the "we're killing SPA2102, but it's OK 'cause you can migate" document.
Not sure if the 484 box crash is related to the issue discussed here, as it recovers, but one never knows if it causes some progressive issue with the box that after 10 or 20, it burns up all available memory, or something similar. Packet cap and syslog output of the event that crashes the box below.

Since  the  first  installation  has  started to  show  the  same   problem as  described  also  in " SPA112 Crashes - No dialtone, restart needed ".
The  SPA  seem  to  last  almost  1  month,  after  will  hang,  the  only  way  to  get  it back  up is  to  power  cycle.
Anybody  knows if  this  problem  has  been  solved  or  if  there  is  some  kind  of  work  around ?
    Thank  you for helping

  • Are there Lync Optimized Softphone headsets that don't create a dialtone when you turn them on?

We're deploying Lync voice in an office and we're going to deploy headsets that can connect to Lync Phones and the computer. So far I have tried two headsets and both of them create a dialtone as soon as you push the PC button. If you don't make a call,
Lync then hangs up and the headset turns off. This is great unless you plan on using Skype or listening to a quick audio clip with the headset, in which case, you have to turn off Lync for the dialtone to not come up.
I'm a little confused after doing some searching. Some say this is a feature, which makes me think it will happen on every device, others seem to think its a bug and has been fixed on some devices (mainly the Sennheiser DW 2, which is too expensive for this
    project).
So my question is: Is it every device? Does it hold true for just USB/Phone devices? Or do headsets that only have USB do it also?

I use the Plantronics Voyager Legend UC and although I get a dialtone if I push the button on the headset, if I just want to listen to a file I don't need to push that button. I just set the headset as my output device in Windows and it just plays straight
    out them.

  • Dialtone when trying to turn my Sennheiser headset on. Also doesn't let me switch back to telephone

I have a Sennheiser OfficeRunner headset using the HeadSetup software and the automatic handset lifter.
For the past 6 months it's worked FLAWLESSLY:
When I would remove the headset from the base, the headset would be in PC Audio mode. When not on the phone, I got all my PC audio through the headset... when the phone rang, I got a ringing in my headset and I could hit a button on the headset or the headset
base and it would flip to the phone and pickup the handset. When done with the call, I could hit the button on the headset or base and the phone would hang up and return to PC mode.
Starting the other day, whenever lync was running, the PC Audio mode would not automatically enable. Pressing the handset or base button would make lync flash and I would get a dialtone for a second then my headset would turn off.
When the phone rings and I would hit the button, the phone would pick up and then immediately hang back up and cause Lync to start flashing again.
When Lync is turned off it works fine.
The button on my headset should have NO effect on my Lync.
Why is this happening and how do I get it to stop?
We do not have phone integration with our Lync here.
I can't run Lync now because it won't let me pick up my actual phone. The handset lifter lifts and then Lync takes over and the handset gets hung up...

    Hi,Chapel976,
Did you run Lync when you get the headset work in the past 2 months?
Did you tested it on another computer to see if the same issue happened?
Have you changed anything around this happened, such as some configuration, updates or new applications?
Would you please try to reinstall the headset driver on the computer?
Also please verify the Lync version and make sure it's fully patched.

  • No Dialtone on Port 2

    Hello,
my PAP2 is running fine. Line 1 and Line 2 is connected and online with 2 different SIP providers...
The phone connected on Port 1 is running fine also so what is my issue ?
My issue is that when I connect any phone on Port2 does not work: I cannot hear the dialtone when I use th ephone and I cannot dial any phone number...
    Do you know why ?

    Hello amtls,
I am not sure if also PAP2(T) adapters are subject of this trick, but certain SPA-2102 adapters has undocumented feature that connector marked Phone1 actually has all 4 wires "life" with pattern L2L1L1L2, while connector marked Phone2 only uses middle 2 wires xxL2L2xx.
With this wiring, if you shall connect certain analog phones to Phone1 using 4-wires cable, it can kill Line2 or cause other problems.
    What you may try :
    1) check, if your cable for Port1 is 4-wires. If so, use 2-wires one.
    2) disconnect your phone from Port1 (Phone1) and connect it to Port2(Phone2)
    3) try to replace your phone in Port1 with another model.
    I hope this helps.

  • Lync 2013 Audio headset - Dialtone while making voice calls wich cause a line disconnection at the end

    Greetings,
I've searched for information on this, but haven't found a solution. I am using MS Office 2013 64bit as well as MS Lync 2013 64bit. Server level team has migrated my
    mailbox recently to Cloud.
I've noticed with Lync, when I connect my headset (Plantronics and Microsoft Lync), I get a dial tone. We do not have Lync connected to a phone system. It plays the
dial tone over Lync. The only way to stop it is to end the call.
The weird part that my colleague is using the same computer. If he logs into the system using his own username, he doesn’t experience this issue although he uses the
same headset which I am using and having problem with!!
Why is there a dialtone on Lync when I login to my profile? It's not even connected to a phone line!
How to I disable a dialtone from happening?
Your assistance with this would be greatly appreciated!

I am having a similar issue.  Setup:
    Windows 7 x64
Jabra Pro 9460 headset with Jabra Control Center 2.14.5888.0
    Lync 2013 (15.0.4623.1000) MSO 15.0.4645.1000 32-bit
    Setup to use Jabra
Cisco IP Communicator 8.6.1.0 (Cisco IP Phone)
    Setup to use Jabra
When I start a meeting in Lync via “Meet Now”, I immediately get:
A dial tone on the headset
Cisco IP Phone move to foreground and a call is started
Lync’s Join Meeting Audio window is displayed
No matter which option is select, including “Don’t join audio”, the dial tone continues.
If I hang up the call on the Cisco IP Phone, the Lync meeting indicates:
“You have been removed from this conversation.”
I have used this in the past, before a rebuild to x64 when everything was upgraded, without this interaction.
Is there a way to stop Lync from manipulating the Cisco IP Phone?
Have deleted the profile as indicated as the Answer above…no help.

  • Crazy thing: No dialtone from a SPA 3102 inside the same network.

Hi folks: We have a couple of SPA-3102 connected to two POTS Bellsouth lines. Both 3102 are registering fine with our SIP server and also register the phone line.
The crazy thing is this: If we try to get dialtone calling from an IP phone (SPA922) LOCATED IN THE SAME LOCAL NETWORK (I.E: In the office) to the 3102 number, we get no dialtone.
If i try co call the same 3102 from a softphone (x-lite) also in the office, we still get no dialtone.
But if i try to call the spa from other network than the office, (I.e: My home), i´m getting the dialtone!!!  I tried it with both the 922 IP Phone and the x-lite softphone and works fine.
Also, we tried to call the 3102 from other IP phone in our office in Mexico, and also works fine.
Our network topology in the office:  Motorola´s Netopia 3347-02 with Bellsouth xDSL internet service. Two Linksys EZXS16W swithes, and a mix of laptops, PCs, servers, IPPhones (SPA922 and 942) and printers connected to these switches
    Any idea ??
    Thanks in advance.
    Martin

If the in-office X-Lite is accessing the SPA-3102 on its private IP, try the public IP, or vice-versa.
I'm presuming that the SPA-3102 has a static private address, the Netopia is forwarding some UDP ports to the 3102, and that you are accessing the 3102 directly (not through a server such as Asterisk).  In this case, access from the LAN via the public IP may fail, because many routers don't handle 'hairpinning' correctly.  Access via the private IP may fail, because the client is being confused by the NAT mapping being applied by the 3102.  You can use Wireshark on the machine running X-Lite to see what's happening in each case.
If your situation is other than the above, please provide the details:  Accessed via server?  If so, is server on LAN or outside?  What software?  Do you have administrative control over it?  Does your router have a SIP ALG?  Is it being used in this path?  What port forwarding or other special setup on router?  What NAT mapping parameters on SPA-3102?  What have you seen with Wireshark?  What remedial actions have you tried, with what results?  Do you have multiple static public IPs?  If so, is there a spare one?

  • SPA112 drops registration - no dialtone

Just picked up the SPA112 on the weekend, and am setting it up with voip.ms.  Several times a day, registration fails, resulting in no dialtone when the phone is picked up.  It does eventually seem to reconnect, but I won't be able to use it if this continues.  I followed all the instructions for setting it up as posted on the voip.ms wiki.  It also looks like I could reduce the "Reg Retry Long Intvl" param in the Voice-SIP settings, but I feel this would just be masking the real issue.
I have also tried using the Cisco Support chat, but after sitting there for hours with no response, I thought I'd try this forum -- it looks like it is monitored by the support engineers.  (I've captured my settings and log files, ready to send them in for analysis.)
Anyone else had this issue and been able to resolve it?
    Dan

    toronto.voip.ms is running Asterisk 1.4.21.1
    chicago.voip.ms is running Asterisk 1.4.32
The most interesting item that comes up in the changelog http://downloads.asterisk.org/pub/telephony/asterisk/old-releases/ChangeLog-1.4.32 is:

         * channels/chan_sip.c: SIP registration auth loop caused by stale
nonce If an endpoint sends two registration requests in a very
short period of time with the same nonce, both receive 401
responses from Asterisk, each with a different nonce (the second
401 containing the current nonce and the first one being stale).
If the endpoint responds to the first 401, it does not match the
current nonce so Asterisk sends a third 401 with a newly
generated nonce (which updates the current nonce)... Now if the
endpoint responds to the second 401, it does not match the
current nonce either and Asterisk sends a fourth 401 with a newly
generated nonce... This loop goes on and on. There appears to be
a simple fix for this. If the nonce from the request does not
match our nonce, but is a good response to a previous nonce,
instead of sending a 401 with a newly generated nonce, use the
current one instead. This breaks the loop as the nonce is not
updated until a response is received. Additional logic has been
added to make sure no nonce can be responded to twice though.

If this is the issue with the spa1xx devices, as it seems to be, then any provider running pre-1.4.26 version of Asterisk will be affected.

  • Remote Dialtone - Point-to-Point SPA3102?

Hi.  I'd like to be able to have remote dialtone from my house
in CT, in my vacation home in ME.  Basically, when I am up in Maine, I'd like my CT line to ring in Maine.  Can I do this with two
SPA3102 -- or something else Cisco has that may be more current?  I have the bandwidth in both places and I'm not looking to use an SP in between.  Ideally, I'd be able to do multiple lines as I have three lines here -- but I don't have $1000 for a PBX.  Anyone have any ideas here?

iTunes match is for music and music video only.

  • M45-311: Modem passes diagnostics, but gives No Dialtone.

    I have a model M45-311 Satellite laptop.
The modem is responding with No Dialtone.
    Phone line tested.
    * I have run the modem diagnostics test and the modem passes.
    * I do hear the modem click to open the port.
    * I have removed the modem from Device Manager and restarted, Modem found same results.
    * I have removed it and downloaded drivers off the Toshiba website. Re-installed and receive same results.
    * I did notice that there are no "Ports" listed in Device Manager, but I think thats ok for the "Software Modem".
Any suggestions on further tests that I might try?
    Thanks Doug

    Hello
Please go to Device manager and select the modem. Go to Modem properties. There you will find the Modem tab. Please check if the controller speaker volume is set to high and not to off.
    Bye
