"No disk detected" when trying to restore Server Backup Image to a virtual hard disk

hello,
I have a server 2012 running hyper-v
I've created a new VHD and started the process of a windows restore.
The restore process picks up the backup drive and can see the backup that i want to restore.
The backup is of a Windows installation taken from a phsyical server. My intention is to restore to virtual.
When i get to this page:
I cannot get the option to not be greyed out. However, if i click exclude disks it shows me the virtual disk.
If i press to continue i get this:
Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure I understood " live environment" correctly , but Disk2vhd can run on a system that’s online.

Above all, whether the USB disk is also included in your system state backup? If so, the restore will also restore the USB disk back to the status when creating that backup.
As data is gone from the USB disk, please make sure there is no any new file wrote onto that disk. Then you can try some third party data recovery tool which could help get the files back. Generally such kind of applications are not free but you can still
search for any application with free version or trail version.

I just received an iPod replacement and when I go to restore from backup it gives me an error. The photos are restored but no music or video. Any suggestions? Thanks

ITunes stops responding when trying to restore from backup

I tried to restore my iPhone 5 from encrypted backup, but everytime I launch iTunes get the stops responding message and shuts down. I managed to backup from iCloud, but it is painfully slow. Does anyone konw what could be going on here? I never had this problem whit my iPhone 4, both on iOS 6. I am running Windows 7 with latest iTunes.

It happens with my iPhone 4S and iPad 2 as well without encrypted backups. Anyone see this behavior or know how to fix? I removed all Apple software and reinstalled and the backup worked once, now back to the "iTunes has stopped working" error.

Itunes error message when trying to restore a backup on my new iphone5

I recently purchased an iPhone 5. I have been attempting to restore my backup on my new phone and it allows me to to go through the whole process however once it gets to the end of the download an error message pops up stating "iTunes could not restore from backup because there was an error"**. My laptop has Windows 8. I have no idea how to fix this problem and I would love to be able to get my contacts and text messages back. Iphone not detected when trying to restore

I tried to updateo the software on my iphone4, I backed up the phone then clicked update. Phone went into recovery mode. I click restore and get error saying iphone cannot be udetected. Phone is now stuck in recovery. I have tried holding the home and power buttons down for 20 secs but still goes back to the screen with itunes and the plug. Please help

I would suggest attempting to connect the device to a different USB port. If the issue continues type devmgmt.msc in the start bar to open the device manager. Then click the plus + icon (Windows XP and Vista) or the disclosure triangle (for Windows 7 and 8) next to Imaging Devices, Other Devices, Portable Devices, and Universal Serial Bus Controllers to expand these sections. Check these sections for one or more entries called Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode).
If you notice any errors or explanation marks listed you may need to repair them with the following steps:
Right-click the parent USB Composite Device entry and choose Update Driver Software from the shortcut menu.
Click "Browse my computer for driver software".
Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
Click the Have Disk button. In the "Install from Disk" dialog, click the Browse button.
Use this window to navigate to the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Double-click the "usbaapl" file. (This file will be called "usbaapl64" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see "usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. instead).
Click OK in the "Install from Disk" dialog.
Click Next and finish the driver-installation steps. Open iTunes to verify that the device is recognized properly, and continue restoring your device.
If you don't see any explanation marks or errors under Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode) then you may have 3.0 USB ports. If your computer does have 3.0 USB ports continue to connect the device to every USB port until recognized or contact the computer manufacturer for a possible updates to USB 3.0 chipset drivers.

When trying to restore old backup onto a new phone a error appears

so i connect the new phone into itunes and when i go to press restore backup and loading box pops up saying "estimating time remaining" after a few seconds an error pops up saying "itunes could not restore the iPhone because an error occurred" and that is all no other information.

If you could successfully download iOS 5, then you would be able to sync over Wi-Fi rather than iTunes. But older iOS versions must be synced through iTunes.

After upgrading to Firefox 4, my bookmarks are gone. When trying to restore a backup, I get this message "unable to process the backup file". How do I get my bookmarks back?

I can still see the JSON files on my PC, but I can't figure out why FF4 is not showing my bookmarks.

I think I just resolved my issue. I exited Firefox, then deleted the places.sqlite file then restarted Firefox 4. My bookmarks immediately appeared.

Time Capsule promts for sparse bundle password when trying to restore backup to clean MacBook

Hi,
My five month old MacBook Pro 15" suffered from a "smart" HD failure. I got it serviced and it came back with a new HD, a fresh OS and a new, clean user.
When trying to restore my backup from my Time Capsule, I get asked to provide the password for machinename.sparsebundle. I have not set such a password. I have tried both my Time Capsule password and my username & corrensponding password but neither is accepted.
Additional details:
Wifi via Time Capsule works fine.
Time Capsule password is fine, I can log in on a general basis.
My wife's MacBook is fine, and runs Time Machine on the same Time Capsule.
Both old HD and new runs OSX 10.8.2.
I have tried restoring both over wifi and via ethernet cable.
Please advise.

I use the password for the user I have originally on my MBP (on the backup).
     "But you should not restore a version earlier than the one used now."
Not sure what you mean here. The OSX-version is the same on both my backup and my MBP.

Thank you for the link. I have gone through Q14-17 but it does not cover my problem; I get asked for a password for the sparsebundle file. (I do not have a install disk though. Any workarounds for this?)
Even when I try to verify the sparsebundle in First Aid in Disk Utility (http://pondini.org/TM/A5b.html) I get asked for the password for the sparsebundle.
Is this not a known problem?

Getting error -34 when trying to restore my ipad

I am getting an error (-34) when trying to restore my backup to my ipad after update to ios 5. Seems to be the same issue as: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3374362
I have plenty of free space on my 64gb ipad but the settings keep getting defaulted to not downsample my music to 128kb. that would over fill my device. I have been on the phone with apple for over an hour with no end in sight. I have lost many data files including a recorded meeting from this week.
If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.

Configure your security software
Check your security software and settings, which can block ports and prevent connection to Apple servers during update and restore.
Common errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006, 9807, 9844. Sometimes as a result of this issue, a device might stop responding during the restore process.

My Ipad has been stolen...I've purchase a new one and when trying to restore a previous back up, the system showed me a different Apple ID. Can it be the ID of the one who has my Ipad ?

Can it be this ID (which is an email adress) is the email of the one having my stolen IPAD ?

The appleid its showing you is associated with one of the apps / songs or another purchase that was on the device the last time it was backed up which it needs to download the app / purchase again. It won't be from the person who has your ipad now unless they downloaded it and then your device was backed up afterwords, so only if the backup date was listed as AFTER your device was lost / stolen.

You need to plug it into your computer running iTunes and restore it. Have you tried that? If so, what happened?

When trying to restore or even contact Itunes store my computer states the the ipod software server could not to contacted but I have checked netting work setting and everthing looks correct any ideas I can try as I am not a whizz on the computer yet
