No disk, need to reinstall. help?

I hope this is in the right place.
I recently lost the audio capability on my laptop and according to the company must do a full system recovery to have my audio work again but doing this will cause me to permanently lose all my files, settings and programs.
a few years ago a friend gave me the Adobe Creative suite CS3
I no longer have the disk to reinstall the Adobe Creative suite once this is done but I do still have the product key for it.
is there any way for me to download the Adobe Creative suite and then use the product key to unlock the full version and recover these programs once my system recovery is complete?
I want to be sure I can recover these programs before I do the system recovery as I do not have the money to buy the CS6 Creative Suite.

  • When verfying my HD, it tells me the disk needs repaired. HELP! Can I just put a fresh version of Mavericks on? I've backed up most of what I need.

Any tips on what I need?  Do I need to fix my HD problem first, then do a clean install of Mavericks?  I'm currently running 10.8.5
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Try to repair the hard drive. Hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting, open Disk Utility, choose Macintosh HD in the sidebar and repair the drive. If it can't be repaired, erase it and reinstall OS X, and if you can't erase the hard drive, it's damaged.
In case it's damaged, you have to replace the hard drive. Any 2'5" SATA hard drive should work.
You have to repair the hard drive first before installing OS X Mavericks, as it would make the hard drive unusable if you upgrade first

  • Rapair Disk Needed Constantly - Please help

    Hi,
Every month I verify disk and repair the permissions but for the last 6 months every time i have done this it has said my disk is corrupt and I need to repair it form the installation disk. The message Disk Utility shows me is:
    "Performing Live Verification
    Checking Journaled HFS Plus Volume
    Checking Extents Overflow file
    Checking catalog file
    Missing thread record(id=3751965)
    Missing thread record(id=3800059)
    Incorrect number of threads recorded
    checking multi-linked files.
    Checking catalog hierarchy
    Invalid value file count
(It should be 339533 instead of 339535)
    Checking extended attributes file
    Checking volume bitmap
    Checking volume Information"
It then tells me I need to repair the disk using my installation disk as Volume Macintosh HD was found to be corrupt.
Can anyone explain what this maybe and how to stop this happening?
    Thanks
    Matt

    Matty:
Verifying Disk runs a disk check then tells you whether your directory is sound and needs no repair or whether there are issues to be repaired. Verify Disk does not repair any errors it finds. To be able to repair the issues you need to boot from the install disk or a clone of your volume on a separate HDD. *You cannot repair the volume from which you are booted* and need to boot from a different volume like the install disk.
    Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it says anything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need to use a utility like Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior

I need to reinstall my operating system for 10.5 after seeing a file folder and question mark flashing on my start up screen. Can anyone help me with this?

    Hello,
That means it can find the Hard Drive, or can't find the things needed for booting.
See if DU even sees it.
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

  • I need to reinstall photoshop 2004 from disk  to my new windows 8 or 8.1

My laptop crashed.  I need to reinstall photoshop 2004 from disk  to my new windows 8 or 8.1 (can't remember which it is), but my laptop freezes every time I insert the disk.  Can anyone help?

If you will tell me what 2004 means. Photoshop CS or version 8 came out around that time and since activation has been terminated for that version, you are entitled to the CS2 replacement:
Download Acrobat 7 and CS2 products

  • HT4718 i need to install a fresh copy of OS X onto my macbook pro 13. i did erase the old partition "macintosh hd" & now when i am trying to create a new partition, it shows "partition failed..couldnt unmount disk"...pls help !!

i need to install a fresh copy of OS X onto my macbook pro 13. i did erase the old partition "macintosh hd" & now when i am trying to create a new partition, it shows "partition failed..couldnt unmount disk"...pls help !!

First of all, I have to ask, why to you "need" to install a fresh copy of OSX?
This may mean that your hard drive is failing, so hopefully you have a backup.
I'm assuming you were in your recovery partition when you did this.
I would, from the recovery partition, repair your hard drive and permissions.
When to Run First Aid in Mountain Lion's Disk Utility - For Dummies
And then try to create the partition again.
If that doesn't work, you have a few options:
Try a third party utility like DiskWarrior or TechTool which may be able to repair your hard drive:
DiskWarrior 4 - The Disk Utility for Mac Disk Repair, Mac Directory Repair, Mac Disk Recovery, Mac Data Recovery or Techtool Pro 7
Try internet recovery, perhaps erase the entire hard drive and reinstall ML.
If nothing else works, then I'd replace the HD and start over.

I have an older Mac desktop, version 10.5.8. I need to reinstall Image Capture. Help, please.

Do you have the original gray system disks that came with the computer, or a full retail install disk set for 10.5? If so, you can use a utiltiy:
    http://charlessoft.com/pacifist_olderversions.html
to extract just Image Capture from the disk and install it. Otherwise, you  would have to reinstall the entire OS

  • Depair...need to reinstall ical tried eveything please help

    Hi there
I have contacted apple to sort out my issues with Ical, unfortunetly they told me that I needed to reinstall however I've only just found my original disks
I have deleted markspace sync, Ical and my preferences
I found the ical.pkt file on my disk but it said it was performing an upgrade??
Ive opened the ical after this install and it quit, which is exactly the problem I have been having that Apple couldnt fix
    What else can I try
Please help as I want to start using my new Nokia e61 with my mac and right now, I have a lot of data backed up from ical which I cant access

If you haven't seen it yet, you might want to try the move described in the post 'iCal crashes' in this forum. It seems to work! My iCal used to crash 1 or 2 seconds after I started it, and now, after doing the things described in 'iCal crashes' it has been running for 10 minutes... So I can't guarantee any long term success, yet.

  • Disk crash, need recovery strategy help.

We had a two drive failure on our AS400 and had to reinstall the operating system. Can we install A7.3 from scratch and then copy in our libraries from our latest backup and JDE function properly? Any ideas would help!

Well, it may be that I am not correctly understanding your disaster situation. I am assuming that you have the same IBM CPU and same IBM hardware serial number. It sounds like you had to replace a disk drive and a tape drive, but not the actual CPU itself. Now it does sound like your operating system backup was eaten up by the tape drive and lost, and thus you are saying you had to reinstall the IBM operating system? Would you not have a slightly older backup tape that you could recover from? Even if you did not and had to reinstall the operating system, JDE World is fairly independent of the OS/400 itself (other than needing to run on it). So I am thinking that you do NOT need to reinstall JD Edwards. You should be able to restore the JD Edwards libraries, though you would need to have the QGPL library as part of that restore process, and run okay.
If my assumptions are wrong, then what I said may not apply. Certainly if you restore onto a new CPU, with a different serial number, you will have to contact JDE support to get a new license key. When doing a hot site test, I restore the operating system, and then restore all the user libaries, get new license keys, and I am up and running. Note that in a hot site test I did not have to do a reinstall of JDE. But certainly the difference maybe that in a hot site test, I am restoring the operating system from backup tape (so not reinstalling OS/400). So I have not personally been involved in the exact situation that you may be facing (I doubt many folks have such experience).
You probably want to be in touch with JDE support and look to them for guidance on what to do, giving them your exact restore situation that you are facing.
Hope this helps a little bit. Bit surprised that these days a disk failure would cause a system crash (have not seen that since the 1980s) - most systems have disk mirroring or RAID of some kind now. So the system can still run while waiting for the disk drive to be replaced (perfomance may suffer, but better that than losing the whole system).
    Good luck.

  • I need to reinstall the system software on my older iMac. I have lost the system disks, though... so now what? It had 10.4.

I need to reinstall the system software on my older iMac. I have lost the system disks, though... so now what? It had 10.4. We moved, and I have looked everywhere. Am I doomed to find a way to buy it? Can taking it into the Apple Store fix it? Will it be expensive THERE? I've already saved all of the files I want off of it.... I just need it to work now.

You've lost me on why you need to reinstall Tiger, when you already have all the files you wanted (which means Tiger worked perfectly fine). If you want to upgrade to Leopard, that's a different issue: your Mac needs to meet the minimum system requirements for that, which you can easily determine.
If you just want to get a replacement set of Tiger install discs, you can try calling AppleCare and see if they're able to send you a replacement set, and if not, you'll have to buy a new set yourself. You can get them on eBay, Craigslist, and HardCore Mac (http://store.yahoo.com/hardcoremac/), although they sell it for ridiculous prices.
