No disks found during installation (x86)

Hello,
I'm trying to install Solaris 10 on a x86 home computer. I'm not very familiar with Solaris, only Linux/GNU, Windows (eek) and some MacOS.
When I'm installing I get the "No disks found" error.
I have 2 SCSI disks hooked up with VIA VT8237 chipset (integrated Serial ATA/RAID controller) and the cd-rom (actually a DVD burner) on IDE.
Could someone help me

The "smartii" driver version 2.20 that I found on HP's web site at:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/16328.html
contains the following file:
DU/sol_28/i86pc/Tools/Boot/smartii/smartii.itu
I'm a bit surprised that the driver package version mentioned inside
that file is "1.1.1" (and not "2.20"). I'm not sure if this a packaging
error by HP?
Anyway, according to that smartii.itu file, the following PCI devices
are supported by the "smartii" driver:
PCI Vendor / Device / Description
==================================================
  0e11  4033     "Compaq Smart Array 3100ES Controller"
  0e11  4032     "Compaq Smart Array 3200 Controller"
0e11  4034     "Compaq Smart Array 221 Controller"Can you please check (using the MSDOS "prtpci.exe" utility, or
Linux "lspci -nv") if your compaq raid array controller uses one
of the above three PCI vendor/device ids?

  • No disks found during installation

I have the HP Proliant ML 370 G4 server with Smart Array 6400 Controller with 3 Logical drives (RAID1) configured.
And I'm trying to install Solaris 10 on the server.
During an installation proccess (Interactive mode) after "choosing the media from which to install" during the initializing proccess the "No disks found. Check to make sure disks are cabled and powered up. Press Ok to exit" error message appeared.
Is it because of the Solaris 10 have not appropriate driver for Smart Array Controller or what?

  • Error No disks Found during Solaris 10 installation

    Hi,
i am trying to install Solaris 10 x86 on an Ml370 server that we bought. during the installation it gives the error No Disks Found. how can i correct this problem?

    One question:
Does this server ,ML370 G5, support Solaris in 64 bit mode?
http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/data/systems/details/1891.html doesn't indicate if it is certified for 64 bits.
and http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/cache/493913-0-0-0-121.html indicates ony 32 bits.

  • File not found during installation (WinXP)

Well, I downloaded Oracle 11g for Windows (32 bit) from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html, and, basically, after having had some trouble configuring a new database, I selected the option to (simply) install a database through the wizard. I breezed through the settings, and, ran the installation wizard, however, some files seem not to be available within \win32_11gR2_database_1of2\database, or perhaps my laptop (Amilo Pro 8210) is too slow to be able to read these files.
The errors show up during Setting up Oracle Database 11g 11.2.0.10. The errors showing up within the UI are as follows:
    File not found F:\app\Jon\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\bin\db2gc
    File not found F:\app\Jon\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\oc4j\OC4J_DBConsole\config\system-application.xml
    File not found F:\app\Jon\product\11.2.0\db_home_1\oc4j\j2ee\OC4j_DBConsole\config\system-jazn-data.xml
NOTE: It is quite painful that there is no functionality to enable me to upload attachments (e.g. screenshots and log files) because it is very time consuming to copy everything manually, and, it is human nature to get bored typing after a while, so please, Oracle, pimp this profile :~) I did not take exhaustive screenshots, the error log files shows quite a few exceptions as well:

Seriously, one expects forum members to be respectful rather than talk garbage about manuals, I was only asking for help, because I thought that files were missing from the installation pack.
I might be your next client for all you know.

The forums are a volunteer organization - people take time out from their personal and professional lives to help others. Some folks, thankfully a very small minority, use the forums as a free personal support/helpdesk tool to read all the documentation on their behalf and look up or solve things on their behalf. The forums work best when there is real dialogue and exchange of information, rather than monosyllabic answers and mudslinging.

  • Trojan found during installation of AW7

This is the first time something like this has happened to me during
    software installation.
I'm running ZoneAlarm Extreme Security, which found five trojan variants during Authorware 7 installation:
    Trojan.Win32.Krament.ml, associated with Get RTF Object Text Range.exe;
    Trojan.Win32.Krament.mn, associated with Insert RTF Object Hot Text interaction.exe;
    Trojan.Win32.Krament.mi, associated with Save RTF Object.exe;
    Trojan.Win32.Krament.mo, associated with Search RTF Object.exe;
Trojan.Win32.Krament.mh, associated with Show or Hide RTF Object.exe.
I'm sure it is semantics. Any thoughts on this problem? Cures?
Any help is appreciated and thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

I contacted ZoneAlarm as you recommended and the first thing the support guy said was that it sounded like false positives. He gave me a procedure to follow, which I am going to implement.

So - what should I do? Installer cann't find file - but it should be there - because the copy-files section of installation wizard was successful... So - if I restart the installation - I cann't see what can be different??? It seems to me that I cann't do nothing now? Is there any solution for this?
Well - I have remained some 6% of setting up and full configuration wizard... How can I complete this??

    I have found thread:
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=2118383#2118383
which is exactly for me - so - can one make some preconfiguration steps? It seems strange, that one should check file by file the installation already prepared and tested by Oracle? I am not sure is this the right practice in production environment... well - and I am not sure if it works at all - it can take much time without result...

  • WRE53G Unable to Be found during installation

I recently purchased the range expander WRE54G version 3. During the installation process it is able to find my wireless connection just fine, however when it looks for the WRE54G it says it cannot be found. My expander is plugged in and powered. I did everything that the booklet said to do. What is the problem?
Also, what does it mean if the link light is flashing between blue and red? The Activity light stays blue always.
If anyone can help me, that would be great!!

Hi! I'm Engr. Michael, a network engineer from the Philippines. Set this up ok.. connect
your computer to port number 1 of the router.. Range expander to port number 2 and modem to
internet port. and Make sure you're router is unsecured (no security enabled), press and
hold the autoconfig button on your range expander for 10 seconds. wait for the link and
activity lights to be blue. if both of them are blue then the range expander is good to go!
if the activity light is still red, press and hold the reset button (on the range expander)
for 30 seconds, then after 30 seconds unplug the power from the range expander and plug it
back in. wait for the lights to be stable and repeat the process all over again.. You're
only good to go if both lights are blue. Tell me if it works ok? thanks for your time.

I want to install the XP Pro version from cd but I get the error message "setenv.ini not found"

    Hello
Hmmm... there must be something wrong with recovery disc. What to do now?
You can try to contact your local dealer and see if they can help. Other way, contact nearest Toshiba authorized service provider. If they can confirm that recovery media is not OK they can order new one for you. For free I think.

  • Solaris8 HCL lists hardware that isn't found during installation

The Solaris8 HCL list video cards 'Diamond Viper V770' and 'Creative Labs 3D Blaster Riva TNT2' cards as being compatible, yet the boot disk (even the latest download) doesn't reference these cards at all. What gives?

My guess, and there were threads back when Intel X25-M came out, it is a firmware compatibility issue. I thought by now and with current new units, it was a think of the past.
I'll let you wade through the links, threads, and tips:
    http://www.bing.com/search?q=macbookWindows+7+IntelX25-M
The new firmware fixed my issue.
You should contact Intel support for a fix.
    http://www.intel.com/design/flash/nand/mainstream/index.htm
    http://www.intel.com/support/
    However, it may not solve.

If anything, I would 'move' (ie, clone) OS X to another drive. Catch-22: you need Windows usually to apply any firmware update to SSD (and other devices).
80GB is really small. Especially for an SSD and Windows 7 - over provisioning, garbage collection, etc will make for a tight squeeze. Windows 7 on SSD uses 30GB and then there is page file, hibernation, 9GB for SP1 (due soon), and that is moving temp folders to another (mechanical) drive.
80GB = 72GB user partition and you want to leave 20% free for each OS. OS X needs 20-30GB plus free space as well.

  • No Disks Found!  error during install of Solaris10 R10 on OracleVM 3.0.1

Has anybody got Solaris 10 R10 working in OracleVM 3.0.1? I have Linux 6.1 and Solaris11 working fine. But get no disks found during iso install of Solaris10 R10.

Still no luck, I get through the installation until it asks about CDROM media, then I get a pop up window with the "No Disks found" eror, after that the install exists to xterm window.
Here's my vm.cfg in this instance I did not change xvd to hd as all my attempts to change this cause vm not to boot.
    -thanks for any advise.

  • V440 No Disks Found Error

    Hey all,
I have 2 v440 with 2 disks in slot 0 & 1(in each node). I'm attempting to install S10u8, but I'm getting an error saying, "No Disks Found" during the initial install.
On the 1st node I was able to install it on one system, but it only saw c1t1d0 and does not see c0t0d0. I've done devfsadm and no go. I have the latest patches installed as well as the latest OBP and firmware/patch installed.
Also, the system does have the latest firmware-version for the v440 issues.
    prtconf -vp | grep 'firmware-version:'
    firmware-version: '1.03.11.01'
The 2nd node is the one that is giving me the "No Disks Found" error.
    Has anyone experienced this before?

    Hello,
On the 1st node I was able to install it on one system, but it only saw c1t1d0 and does not see c0t0d0.
Is this a typo (c0 and c1, should read c0t0d0 and c0t1d0) ? If yes, reseat the disks (as Martin already suggested).
Otherwise do you expect to see some of the internal disks on one controller and the remaining on the other ?
After reviewing the "Matrix of Recognized Device Paths"-InfoDoc, the SCSI backplane is attached to one channel of the SCSI controller. The second channel is the external connector on the back.
*Please post the output of probe-scsi-all or at least confirm that the disks are displayed at the ok-prompt.*
Alterrnatively review the disk status via ALOM, this allows to get the information even on production systems without bringing them down.

  • "ERROR disk not found" during boot cdrom installation

We were booting a T4-4 server from a Solaris 10 boot ISO and command I used was "boot rcdrom - install as nowin" (i was mounting the ISO using the serial redirection window etc, hence the rcdrom)
It worked great asking for the" language to be installed" and "network setting and etc."
then it starts communicating with the jump server to pick up the jumpstart script and etc still working great. but when it start to install, it returned with "ERROR no disk found"
I am sure there are two 600G disk on the server. not sure why it think there is no disk during the installation. googled it and some said something related to raid and i cannot get a conclusion.

  • "No Disk Found" error during installation of Solaris 10[11/06] on HP 6710b

    Hallo Guys,
I am trying to install Solaris 10 on my HP 6710b lap top but it fails with "No Disk Found" error.
I used "Solaris 10 support tool" to check my system and it reports that my system is supported.
You can find the report bellow. I am sure that my disk is OK and I am also using "CD-ROM" option in BIOS for installing solaris from my Solaris DVD.
I have also updated the drivers using "CPQary3-1.71-solaris10-i386".
    Please help me.
    Thanks,
    Qumar

  • Solaris 10 installation gives error "No disk Found"

During the installation of Solaris 10 on dell XPS400, it gives error that says no Disk found:
I have already partitioned by disk in the following manner:
1st partition: 30 GB: NTFS (WIn XP installed)
2nd Partiion: 20 GB: NTFS (data)
    3rd Partition: 25GB: RAW
is there any special setting that I need to do for Solaris to detect the hard disk.
    Please help!

I do not think you need a driver for the disk.
... you need to reconfigure your system with respect to the DISK CONTROLLER.
Solaris 10 "doesn't do Serial ATA very well".
Search the forum, keyword sata and then read and read and read.
I believe you need to reconfigure something in the PC's BIOS.
However, that may have an impact on how well your current install of WinXP works.
So, I suggest you just go get an additional disk, a conventional IDE drive (not a SATA disk),
and install to that new drive instead.
Then you choose whichever device you want as the boot drive each time you power it on.
... or just go get an older, used computer and dedicate it to operating systems other than Windows. Leave the Dell system alone.
Install... erase ... install something else ... erase ...
    etc, etc, etc
