"no disks found"
I just setup my Timecapsule, and either its broken or I am missing something fundamental. It works as a base station and the LED is green. But Time Machine can't find it. Using the advanced setup function in the AirPort Utility, no disks show up in the "Disks" menu. Did I get a time capsule without disk?
I tried it with a MacBook and MacBook Pro, wired as well as wireless. Both run 10.5.2. Otherwise, the TC seems to work fine.
I'm having the same problem. Everything was working fine for a while, backups occurring hourly on both an imac and MBP but suddenly no connection to the time capsule harddrive. The router portion still works, airport utility still finds the time capsule but under "disks" it says "No Disks Found." I did a hard reset last night and set up time capsule from scratch and it all connected and under "Disks" it listed the time capsule disk. This morning, no connection and no disks listed. Any other possibilities than a bad unit?
Thanks.

Hi guyz,
I am trying to install Solaris 8 in a compaq machine. The installer started and proceeded until setting up of Time Zone. After that I got the following error:
No disk found. Check cable or connection.
Please help me to correct this error.
regards,
AminDid you check that your compaq machine has a Solaris supported disk controller?

Does the vendor (Compaq / HP) provide drivers for the disk controller, in case the standard stuff included
with Solaris doesn't support the disk controller? -
"No Disk Found" error during installation of Solaris 10[11/06] on HP 6710b
Hallo Guys,
I am trying to install Solaris 10 on my HP 6710b lap top but it fails with "No Disk Found" error.
I used "Solaris 10 support tool" to check my system and it reports that my system is supported.
You can find the report bellow. I am sure that my disk is OK and I am also using "CD-ROM" option in BIOS for installing solaris from my Solaris DVD.
I have also updated the drivers using "CPQary3-1.71-solaris10-i386".
Please help me.
Thanks,
Qumar

Error message: no hard disk found
When i click a link in outlook i get the message "no hard disk found". Everything else works perfectly. I can't click away the message, keeps coming back.
Does the problem link download a file? Firefox remembers the last download location on a site-by-site basis, and it's possible that location existed temporarily but no longer exists.
If it's not a download, if you hover your mouse over the link, does Firefox show that as part of the URL (down toward the bottom of the browser)? -
I plugged in my ipod (60gig) and I got the message that no disk found. I installed the lastest ipod software, still same prob. I then reset the ipod and same problem I uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it and it worked for a couple of hours and then I got the same message. In the mean time it freezes up the itunes application and when I try closing it I get the message that itunes is not responding. I have to do a hard shut down and restart my pc. It works fine with just itunes, but as soon as I plug the ipod in it freezes then giving me the no disk found error message. Anyone know why this would happen? I have had it just over a month and this is the first time this has been happening.

No disks found. Solaris 10.
When i have tried install Solaris 10 on my laptop HP dv 6000 i have received this message "no disks found. chceck to make sure are cabled and powered up." what can i do? Maybe i should mount the disc? But i dont know how, i tried but i had a problem witch this, it is different than mount disk at Linux.
I was able to install Solaris 10 on a hp dv6000 as a dual boot system with Microsoft Vista. After installation I had two problems.
1) GRUB seems to have changed the Disk Signature in the MBR making Vista unbootable. See:
www.multibooters.co.uk/mbr.html.
I found a possible solution at: http://blogs.sun.com/moinakg/entry/vista_and_solaris_express_dual
but haven't tried it yet.
2)Installing the Patches hung the system and made Solaris 10 unbootable. I haven't tracked down which patch was responsible.

Solaris 10 installation gives error "No disk Found"
During the installation of Solaris 10 on dell XPS400, it gives error that says no Disk found:
I have already partitioned by disk in the following manner:
1st partition: 30 GB: NTFS (WIn XP installed)
2nd Partiion: 20 GB: NTFS (data)
3rd Partition: 25GB: RAW
is there any special setting that I need to do for Solaris to detect the hard disk.
Please help!I do not think you need a driver for the disk.
... you need to reconfigure your system with respect to the DISK CONTROLLER.
Solaris 10 "doesn't do Serial ATA very well".
Search the forum, keyword sata and then read and read and read.
I believe you need to reconfigure something in the PC's BIOS.
However, that may have an impact on how well your current install of WinXP works.
So, I suggest you just go get an additional disk, a conventional IDE drive (not a SATA disk),
and install to that new drive instead.
Then you choose whichever device you want as the boot drive each time you power it on.
... or just go get an older, used computer and dedicate it to operating systems other than Windows. Leave the Dell system alone.
Install... erase ... install something else ... erase ...
etc, etc, etc -
Basic problem with connecting to disk via Airport Extreme - No Disks Found
I've a Lacie BigDisk (500GB) which connects fine via USB or firewire directly to my Macs (HFS). When I plug it into the AirPort Extreme, the Airport Utility shows the disk as connected, and I've ticked File Sharing, with "Secure Shared Disks" set to "With base station password".
The AirPort Disk Utility is set to Automatically Discover AirPort disks and to Show AirPort Disks in the menu bar. It sees the Airport Extreme, and the action is set to "Connect with Password".
When I close the AirPort Disk Utility I can see the disk icon in the top menu bar, and clicking on this provides a menu with (greyed out) "No Disks Found", and the option to "Open Airport Disk Utility..."
Any ideas - it's driving me mad!
Thanks
AndrewI am having the same problem with a Lacie 320 GB HD as well with my AEBS. I can't get it to stay recognized in Leopard. I have gotten it to work but only for 10 minutes then I have to unplug and start over. I know that it works fine in Tiger but I am having troubles with my drive "disappearing" with Leopard. From what I can tell others have had this problem but I am not finding a solution. Some have said going back to 7.1.1 works however my AEBS is 2 months old and the oldest firmware it has in the airport utility is 7.2. I have also found old versions on the apple website most look for an intel chipset which I do not have I am running a powerbook G4, also my friend on a new MacbookPro couldn't get them to work at all. Air disk is an amazing concept when am I going to be able to use it?

After the jumpstart fails and I get a shell prompt, when I run 'format' I see no disks. It tells me "no disks found" also. What am I doing wrong? What device are you trying to use as a virtual disk? I think you are exporting a pseudo
device volume (ZFS or SVM volume?). In such a case that volume is exported as a
single slice disk (disk with only a s0 slice) and the Solaris installer is not able to handle
such a disk.
So you have to create a file with mkfile(1M) and then export that file as a virtual disk.
Be aware of bug 6544963 (vdisk can lose label when rebinding domain) after your
installation is completed and carefully read the instructions on my blog about this
problem:

Installing Solaris 9 on HP ML350 G5 server - No disks found
Some weeks ago I've post a topic about problem with installing Solaris 10 on HP ML350 G5 server.
OK, it have been solved. Thanks!
But now I need to install Solaris 9 on this server. The problem is same - No disks found.
I can't find drivers for Smart Array e200i 128Mb v.1.66 (disk controller installed on ML350 G5) for Solaris 9.
Can you help me? Thanks in advance.Find a contact e-mail address on HP's website and ask them if the driver is available for Solaris 9.

PeterWith the v480/490 you need to remember that the targets are on c1 NOT c0.
This has caused an issue for many people and their jumpstart installations and meta configs.
There was also a patch that corrected the instance number from c0 to c1.
Prior to the patch, the DVD ROM was NOT detected setting the targets to c0. Applying the patch and doing a reconfig reboot would cause the mount of the root volume to fail, because the /etc/vfstab or md.tab was pointing to c0 and the root disk is now at c1.
This is where the /etc/path_to_inst would come into play. -
Hey all,
I have 2 v440 with 2 disks in slot 0 & 1(in each node). I'm attempting to install S10u8, but I'm getting an error saying, "No Disks Found" during the initial install.
On the 1st node I was able to install it on one system, but it only saw c1t1d0 and does not see c0t0d0. I've done devfsadm and no go. I have the latest patches installed as well as the latest OBP and firmware/patch installed.
Also, the system does have the latest firmware-version for the v440 issues.
prtconf -vp | grep 'firmware-version:'
firmware-version: '1.03.11.01'
The 2nd node is the one that is giving me the "No Disks Found" error.
Has anyone experienced this before?Hello,
On the 1st node I was able to install it on one system, but it only saw c1t1d0 and does not see c0t0d0.
Is this a typo (c0 and c1, should read c0t0d0 and c0t1d0) ? If yes, reseat the disks (as Martin already suggested).
Otherwise do you expect to see some of the internal disks on one controller and the remaining on the other ?
After reviewing the "Matrix of Recognized Device Paths"-InfoDoc, the SCSI backplane is attached to one channel of the SCSI controller. The second channel is the external connector on the back.
*Please post the output of probe-scsi-all or at least confirm that the disks are displayed at the ok-prompt.*
Alterrnatively review the disk status via ALOM, this allows to get the information even on production systems without bringing them down.

Solaris10 Update 10 (08/11) No Disks Found error vm3.0.1
I have successfully installed Sol11 Exprress and Oracle Linux 6.1 in VM 3.0.1 using ISO method.
My setup includes iSCSI devices and a HA config.
However, everything I’ve tried with the newly released Solaris 10 R10 (08/11) it fails to finish installing with a No hard disks found error and the install aborts.
I’ve tried Xen HVM and HVM PV Drives Domain types with same results.
Has anybody been able to install this release of Solaris in OracleVM 3.0.1?
