No display from onboard graphics

i just got a hp pavilion a4327c
specs:
cpu: Amd anthlon II 240 dual
ram: 4gig
integrated video: Nvidia geforce 6150SE
os: Windows 7 home premium
when i plug in to integrated video my monitor stays in standby, i can use a pci but its older then integrated so trying to revert ive searched forms for days, i did factory restore, ive tried using bios to set onboard as primary and got nothing when i downloaded the factory driver and try to run it asks if i want to continue when i say yes it tells me i fail to meet min requirements. i tried nvidias driver it cant find compatable driver, device manager only shows the standard vga addapter when i use bios i have to: Save and exit, shut down pull pci turn on and still no display

Type of display...old school Monitor, LCD display or HDTV.
Modern displays have menus where one can select input from one or more input connectors.
If you are using the blue plug, then that is analog VGA.
From your description of the issue it would seem that the systemboard of your desktop PC has had a video chip failure.
Since video out works and you want upgraded video then purchase a better PCI-Express x16 video card that has a low PSU requirement. That can be checked at the manufacturer's website uder the graphics card's specifications. If you don't mind upgrading the PSU to 450 Watts or higher, then you can purchase an enthusiast level video card with 1GB or more of fast video RAM onboard.

  • Onboard Graphics Card Not Displaying Anything

I got a free MS-7613 (Iona-GL8E) motherboard from my friend 's friend which was fully working, he upgraded his motherboard and no longer wanted/needed it. This is the first PC I have ever started to build, I've worked on the, before and know a reasonable amount about them, but the problem I have with this is, the onboard graphics card doesn't display anything. I tried via VGA and HDMI on a monitor and TV, both outputted nothing. The wire and monitor definitely work. The motherboards seems to work fine, it used to beep when it had no RAM, since then I bought RAM and it's been fine. I had a graphics card in but removed it as it also displayed nothing. All the USB drives work and it turns on fine, it just display nothing. Could it be because it had a graphics card in perviously and doesn't display anything because of that? Any help would be great!

Hi, "Beware of greeks bearing gifts."  Obviously there are reasons why you have ended up with a hand-me-down.   One might be a bad motherboard graphics processor. You need to provide more information about your hardware configuration.  Additionally, contact your friend and find out what HP product was the motherboard installed in so we can look for specific information.   Post back when you have more information.

  • 3 displays from a G5 (is installing 2 graphics cards an option?)

    Hi there,
I'm trying to set up 3 displays from my G5 with an ATI Radeon 9600 XT. Ideally two are to be mirrored and one independant. I have two 23" Cinema Displays and a cheap Philips 190CW on which I'm trying to mirror one of the Apples. I bought a 1 x 4 DVI splitter (on ebay from Taiwan) which doesn't seem to work.
My regular 2 monitor set-up which has worked perfectly is to run one Cinema Display from the ADC output on the graphics card via an ADC to DVI converter and the other from the DVI on the card. So I thought I could simply run the DVI output into this splitter and run the extra monitor from one of the outs as well as the second Cinema Display giving me the mirroring on two. But all I get is the ADC connected Cinema Display and one or the other of the DVI connected monitors - not a split.
The splitter is supposed to support 4 monitors at 1920 x 1200 but when I connect all three to the splitter it only gives me one!
    I have three questions:
    1) Is it just a a dodgy Splitter?
    2) If so can anyone recomend one that will work or a way to do what I want?
    3) Is it possible to install a second graphics card such as another ATI Radeon 9600 XT and run 3 displays from them?
I'd very much appreciate any suggestions.
    Cheers GR
    G5 2.5 Duel   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   G4 17" Powerbook 167

    Thanks very much.
That does answer my question but doesn't solve my problem...
It seems to be working on all three monitors in that configuration but it doesn't really do what I need in terms of the physical placement of the Apple Displays - I need them to stay together unmirrored and the Philips monitor a few metres away mirroring one of the Apples. (I'd love to get another 23" Apple but it's 5 x the $$$). How slow in everyday terms would it be with an extra graphics card? I'm doing this for a music recording set-up.
    Thanks again for your help.
    Cheers GR

  • Onboard graphics Z87-G41 PC MATE

    Hi all,
I am cross posting from another board hoping someone can help me out on this one!
This weekend I was able to piece everything together and install the OS for the first time. However, I had the intentions of utilizing the onboard graphics on my MSI mobo to run an extended desktop until I can decide on a GPU.
The following are components of this build:
    Intel i5 4670k
Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro 81.3 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
    MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate motherboard
    G.Skill Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
    Sandisk 32gb SSD
    Seagate Barracuda 1 TB HDD
    Corsair 550D Case
    Thermaltake 600w PSU
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
I am able to work on the computer without the GPU without any issue for the time being, but before I add a new card I would like to run extended desktop. I work primarily in excel and its just a convenience to have the extended desktop. I know the onboard graphics for this mobo supports three display outputs and I currently have two hooked up, (DVI and HDMI) but I am only able to mirror the displays. In display settings only one monitor is recognized. I have enabled the multiple display setting in the bios as well.
Anyone encounter this issue or know how I can set up two displays? I know a new GPU will easily fix this but it could be some time before I decide on a card as I won't be doing any gaming until work slows down.
    Thanks!
    Michael

Have you enabled multi-monitor support in the BIOS? (Settings\Advanced)
By default it would seem to be disabled, the manual states:
    "IGD Multi-Monitor [Disabled]
Enables or disables the multi-screen output from integrated graphics and external
graphics card. To support the Lucid Virtu MVP Technology, please enable this
    item.
    [Enabled] Enables IGD multi-screen function.
    [Disabled] Disables IGD multi-screen function."

  • Mega 180 and onboard graphics problems!

    Problem is this:
Primary graphics output of my Mega 180 is only displaying in Green, the secondary output is blurred and too bright, no amount of altering settings and installing drivers changes this situation.
    Any suggestions.

    Onboard Sound/Graphics/LAN

To isolate the problem you should try a different VGA cable and a different monitor.
If those don't help then the problem is with the computer.
Try unplugging it from the wall wait 10 seconds and plug it back in... This is kind of a cure all for many mega 180 ills.
The onboard graphics uses system memory. How much is allocated to it in BIOS. 128 MB is recommended for most home theater types of applications.
Have you tried resetting the BIOS settings to all defaults ?
If you've done all these things and nothing helps it sounds like the board may be bad.

    Howdy dalefromdeatsville,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.
To troubleshoot this issue where you're seeing graphical distortion on your Mac's display, please follow the instructions below.
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.

Hey, I'm new to Arch and I've been working on setting it up on my Laptop and so far I haven't had very many problems save one.  I can't get any of the available Window Managers.  Whenever I try running them I get a message like:
"wmii: fatal: Can't open display," or "Error: Couldn't connect to XServer" (Fluxbox), or "twm: unable to open display" or "dwm: cannot open display" or "Openbox-Message: Failed to open display from the DISPLAY environment variable,".  What am I supposed to do?  I've checked to see if it was a problem with my installation of Openbox by reinstalling that and installing several other window managers, and I've checked to see if it was a problem with me not having the right kernel modules loaded, but after I ran "hwdetect --load-modules," which is supposed to load all detectable modules, but even after that I still get the same messages.  Any ideas, I've tried just about everything that I know\have thought about, so yeah... any ideas?

You need to read a bit more about how X works - you can't run any window manager unless there's a X session for it to run on. That's why xinit works. Set up your ~/.xinitrc correctly and use startx.
xinit wmii ran a wmii session, but I guess you didn't configure it at all - that's why you couldn't do anything. Again, more reading required.

Oh, I see.  So an X-session is something that's required.  Oh, okay.

  • Flickering with Onboard Graphics on 790GX-G65

    Hi Everyone,
I recently put together my own AMD based machine and am very happy with it. It's the first desktop I've had since I switched to a laptop for uni in 2004 :D.
The problem that I'm experiencing is that whenever the UAC window pops up, there is some flickering (Almost like static in an old video tape). Worse, it sometimes (Very rarely) happens even when the UAC window is not there :(. Has anyone else experienced this same problem? I did a quick search in this board before posting this and I haven't found anything similar. I have already tried the monitor with another machine (My laptop) and it does not show the same issue. It seems to me to be a problem with the on-board graphics card. I'm trying to get a DVI cable to try connecting the monitor that way. Any help would be much appreciated.
Here is some more information on the computer:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2 GHz
    Motherboard: MSI 790GX-G65, MS-7576, AMI Bios 1.3
    RAM: Kingston ValueRAM DDR3 1333 MHz 2 GB x 2 sticks (KVR1333D3N9/2G)
Video Card: None (Using onboard graphics)
Hard Drive: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1 TB 7200 RPM SATA (HD103SJ)
Wireless LAN Card: D-Link DWA-510 Wireless G PCI WLAN card
Sound Card: None (Using onboard sound)

    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

I hope to be getting an XFX 5870 soon, so hopefully this will disappear and won't plague me then ;D.

@websherpa: different board, start your own topic. Do not hijack this one.
Actually, I will post elsewhere if necessary, but I respectfully submit that I did NOT intend a hijack. I did not ask readers to find a solution to my particular problem. I indicated that I have a very similar problem and am seeking a solution through experimentation.  My solution may help this users issue.  I think it's likely a problem that's not entirely board specific (since I have found numerous posts about this very same issue with onboard Radeon chips and Windows 7 and x64) and therefore an understanding of a solution for any one set-up or combination may result in a solution for all. I provided system information solely to indicate whether there is some common causality.   I think it's only really appropriate for the original author to determine whether a post is off topic or not unless a post is obviously way off base (your mileage obviously differs).
My appologies to lohita if you think I was trying to hijack your post.  I was simply trying to contribute to see if there is a common cause.

  • K9N2 Diamond - Can't Disable Onboard Graphics

    Hello all,
I have a peculiar problem (or maybe it isn't problem at all):
If I select to disable the onboard graphic chip in BIOS, the system halts (complete freeze) after memory check, only way out is to force shutdown and BIOS reset.
On board, there are four little status leds, when the onboard graphics is disabled, they are (looking from the "back" of board) from left to right: green-red-green-red. I haven't been able to find out what the sequence means, looks to me like MSI has never published the codes.
The freeze happens whether I have quickboot enabled or not.
    My system specs are:
    MSI K9N2 Diamond
    AMD Phenom 9850 BE
XFX GeForce 8800 GT Alpha Dog 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI
    8 GB Corsair DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 DHX
    2x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB S300 RAID 1
CoolerMaster 700W REAL POWER PRO MODULAR PSU
    Lian-Li SILVER CLASSICAL SERIES
    Philips Brilliance 200W 20.1"
BIOS version is 2.0 (not flashed).
The XFX card works perfectly and when both cards are active, I have no issues with system at all (all works perfectly). Also RAM has passed Memtest++ several times and is correctly detected and configured by BIOS (800MHz).
All BIOS settings affecting performance are in their defaults (no overclocking, no voltage tweaking etc).
The problem is that I can't set these two cards to SLi nor MultiGPU because they are not identical (please correct me if I'm wrong in that).
The problem is that both cards now want to run separate monitor (I only got one I can use permanently) meaning that I either won't see boot messages or I won't see desktop depending on which card I have the monitor connected on.
So, in brief, here's my questions are:
Do you know why disabling the onboard chip freezes POST?
Do you know a solution to this problem?
If you answer "yes" to either or both above, please tell me too what is the reason and what is the solution

Hi and thanks for the reply.
Just to be sure what you mean:
Quote from: Fredrik on 02-November-08, 20:54:10
You should be able to disable onboard while monitor cable is connected to the 8800, should even be automatically disabled.
You mean having monitor connected to both cards and then disable the onboard chip?
Quote from: Fredrik on 02-November-08, 20:54:10
Could have to do with the Hybrid SLI feature  . Disable if you don't want it.
That's disabled currently (you can't disable onboard chip if it's enabled).
Quote from: Fredrik on 02-November-08, 20:54:10
As BIOS seems to be involved, what BIOS version do you have?
    Original 2.0 (shipped with board).

In ControlPanel you can tell Windows what sound device you like to use. And you can inactivate the onboard sound card in Device Manager. In BIOS - I haven't checked this one out - the title would be Integrated Peripherals I believe.
If I am understanding you right, it look in Control Panel I have the new Soundblaster Card selected.  I presume you are talking about going into Control Panel - Sounds and Multimedia - then the Audio tab.  Once there the Soundblaster card is showing in the dropdowns for Playback and Recording; and under MIDI playback it lists Creative Soundfont Synth.
In Device Manager it doesn't look like anything is disabled.  Again, presuming where I am supposed to be looking (ie, Device Manager - Sound, Video and Game Controllers) I still see the following:
    Audio codecs
    Legacy audio drivers
    Legacy video capture devices
    Media control devices
    Soundblaster Live! 24-bit
    Unimodem half-duplex audio device
    Video codecs
None of the items have any indication that that are disabled or not working properly.
I will check the BIOS, but I did set that to disabled.

  • Onboard graphics on MSI NF980-G65

I'm looking to buy THIS motherboard but i have a question. i already have a 9800 gtx, Can the onboard graphics and my graphics card be used at the same time? like if i wanted to use 3 or 4 monitors.
    Thanks

No, sorry. With some other, weaker card - this in not what I specialise in - you could enable Hybrid SLI, which would make the onboard and discrete cards co-exist. But, this is only from the back of my head, mind you. Just thought being on-line I should bring some bad news.

  • GT70 Application has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware

I have a GT70 with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675m, have Windows 8.1 on it. Last month I had an issue where the video card freaked out and started to throw blue screens at me, had it taken in they fixed it and reinstalled the drivers and cleaned out the inside of the laptop which had dust inside, I would love to do it quite frankly I have no idea what the insides of a laptop like this look like.
So after I got my laptop back I had drivers 344.75 installed on it, then went to watch a video on YouTube and all of a sudden the video freezes while the sound still played. Then in the lower right hand corner it said Display driver stopped responding and has recovered under it said, Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 344.75 stopped responding and has successfully recovered after that the small thing popped up saying Application FlashPlayerPlu has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware over and over again I got so tired that I went to the customize option to make that thing disappear from popping up, but the error kept coming and coming so much that it created hundreds of warning errors in the Event Viewer. So the only thing I could do was restart my computer.
Figured that updating my graphics card to the latest driver would help, which is 347.52. But whenever I watched YouTube on Firefox it would do the same thing, it wasn't just the Flash Player plugin either it was other programs like VidCoder I haven't seen what other programs did it. It just feels so frustrating because I don't want to take this laptop into get repaired again to the local computer place. I think it might be a software issue since the computer seems to work fine when it's not using the NVIDIA GPU, I started watching YouTube using Google Chrome and not Firefox. I haven't really gamed on it in a while but now afraid to play games on it that it might break the video card or crash. Has anyone out there seen such a problem?
I've looked all over the Internet and people say that maybe the GPU is being overclocked but I don't even know what or how to search to see if it is. How can it be overclocked when using simple programs or websites like YouTube? I have also heard that most of these problems are cause of Windows 8.1 but can I even down grab back to regular Windows 8? I wish I had Windows 7 on this laptop but it came with Windows 8 and kept hearing that it's dangerous to downgrade the laptop to Windows 7.
Thanks if anyone can help out with this issue.

I am really hating Windows 8 & 8.1 all together. But I took it into the shop this past Monday to figure out maybe they can fix it. Since I still have the two month warranty with the shop I can take it in and won't have to continue paying more money. When I got it back they said something about the files or drivers were corrupt and they reinstalled them. Went home played Unturned on Steam for like 15 to 20 minutes, game froze like it did with No More Room in Hell. Giving me that same error Application unturned.exe has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware, over and over every three seconds. I shut down the laptop for the night and turned it on about an hour ago and the error message kept popping up like twice then finally stopped.
I went over to NVIDIA's forum a couple of days ago and someone with a GT70 and GTX 675m card is having almost the same issue as me which is crazy, then saw another person with a 675m saying that it's unstable that the GPU usage exceeds 2000% and freezes. Do you think that it might be some sort of update that is causing the cards to just mess up? It's strange that within a few weeks three people including myself have issues with the card acting strange. I haven't gone with factory restoring my laptop yet, been trying not to go down that road unless it's needed. Also I hear Windows 10 is coming out in the summer and I'm iffy about just upgrading hoping the problem will go away or is Windows 10 is just as dangerous as Windows 8.
I am also wondering if I was to downgrade to Windows 7 will it also erase my MSI factory recovery partition for Windows 8 on the drive?
