No display on MSI RX800 td 256

Hi group
I posted this problem a few months ago but still hasnt been sorted so I am appealing again for help!
I have an MSI RX800 TD-256 and I cannot get a display after the standard Windows XP startup screen.
I can see the BIOS ok although I do not get the usual graphic card BIOS which I would normally expect to see.
After the BIOS goes I get the WinXP startup but then after that the display goes black. The PC continues to load and the monitor light remains on indicating that it is still receiving a signal but the the desktop will not display.
I have disconnect everything and had only my mainboard. RAM, PSU and of course graphics card connected but couldn`t even see the VGA BIOS.
The power cable that the card came with is attached to the PSU as per instructions and still nothing.
Re attached the HDD and attached the other end of the power cable to that aswell and same problem.
I have returned the card back to Scan.co.uk and they said that the card is working fine so they sent it back to me.
Any ideas would be grateful.
Please refer to my signature for my spec. Any questions please let me know.
Many thanks
Orion.

Thanks for the reply,
I haven`t tried it on another PC yet as I don`t know anyone who has a decent PSU! MSI recomend a 350W min to run the card, mine is 450W.
There is no on board graphics.

Is that MSI NX6800LE-TD 256 same as NX6800LE 128 with douple amount of memory or is there some new improvements ? allthough i cant find any 6800LE product´s from the msi product catergory. This is an PCI-E card.
Just seeking for good/cheap PCI-E card for my next pc system and my local pc store sells this card for 260€. Cheap if i may say and if this card is fully moddable to open those locke VS and pipelines like Gainward 6800LE 128 then it rocks
And for the future to improve graphic acceleration its easy way just to buy another msi 6800le card and put it in to sli mode and its then cheaper

    nobody cares me

  • PC resets/corrupt screen running new RX800 TD 256

Hi, I've just installed this card and i'm having some trouble with it.
Last night it was all OK, and i was able to run for 4+ hours.
The rest of the time, it will either reset itself after a few minutes, or the card will appear to change resolutions(monitor clicks, goes black, come back to life), and the image will become corrupt (and the hang). Often i can't even get into windows (the login screen corrupts and the PC either hangs).
When i uninstall all the video card drivers (or run in safe mode which i think amounts to the same thing) everything is nice and stable.
Judging from previous posts it looks like my PSU might be a bit underpowered, but heres my question: would this account for the corrupt images, and intermittant behaviour? I had assumed that if i was short on power i'd have trouble booting (when all those devices are trying to initialise at the same time). Also, if i was short of power i'd still have problems when running with default windows drivers wouldn't I? (i don't)
I'm a bit stumped, so any thoughts would be appreciated,
    Thanks
    jw
Some info that might save time:
I'm pretty confident that i managed to uninstall all old drivers correctly.
My mobo drivers are up to date (using liveupdate).
I've tried various sets of drivers (including cat 4.8's and 4.9beta)
My Bios is a bit out of date (5.7 as opposed to the latest 6.0)(i don't want to flash it unless i have to, and no one else has reported problems like this so i assume this is not the fault)
It's not a new system, and has been running happily for some months now
-Motherboard type and model: MSI 845E max
-Bios type and revision: American Megatrends version 07.00T
-CPU type and model: P4 2.53

    -Video card:MSI RX800 TD256
    -Power SupplyThermaltake HP-360-302 (360 Watts)
    +3.3v = 28a
    +12v = 17a
    +5 = 35a
    OS:XP home Service Pack 1

seen old bios causing problem with ati cards on other motherboard for some people.
as a last try flash it.
dont use live update as it increase the risc of badflash.
yes it can be due to weak psu.
when you press the power buttont the psu is cold and when its cold it can put out more power than when its warm.
    and that can be enough.
some people must reinstall windows to get rid of old stuff to make a card work.

  • MSI Geforce 7800GTX 256 No signal

    I have MSI P4N SLI + MSI Geforce 7800GTX 256 , 2 GB ram (4*512 MB) 667, 3.4GHZ 1m cash
When booting, the monitor screen stay black ,, & my screen shows no signal till the widows xp works
i mean i can't see any booting information or even windows xp logo
but it works very well when windows booted & has no problems when i play games
how i can solve this problem ,, thank you for your help

Maybe you could have a try to clear cmos and load defaults in the bios. Please check you disable quick boot in the bios and enable full logo screen to have a try. And you could also have a try to uninstall the mainboard's drivers and the VGA drvers, then reinstall them to check. If that could not help, maybe you could have a try to reinstall the OS to have a try.
You may check when you minimize the system ( only leave cpu, cpu fan, memory,VGA on the mainboard) to see whether the monitor still remain black all the time.

  • OC'ing MSI fx5900sp VTD-256

I bought the MSI fx5900sp VTD-256 thinking that it was 400mhz core / 800mhz mem. After running 3DMark03, I find out that it was running @ 300/700. So I enabled coolbits and oc'd the card. The highest I got (performance 3D) was 423/814. Anyone else have this card? Is this the highest that this card is capable of?

I don't use the MSI drivers and I just use the coolbit's registry hack.
I let the driver interface Auto Detect the clock settings first, then run a benchmark and watch for anomolies in image quality. I will then tweak down the settings until I find stability. I often run a game for a while to see REAL WORLD perfomance, and adjust accordingly. Personally I don't overclock since with the last few cards I've owned I see no reason to yet, I just do it initially to see what the cards potential is. I do not remember my last settings for previous cards as I know that every GPU, RAM setup will deliver varied results from one card to the next even theough they are identical, also keep in mind the configurations available with all the hardware available.

  • MSI RX800-TD128E PCI Express 128MB Two Versions?

    Hello,
I just bought a MSI RX800-TD128E with DDR on zipzoom: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=321949
I found this reveiw with some help for a similar card: http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/video/x800-2.html
I looked on newegg and they had the same card with DDR3 see: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814127176
Could anyone help with more information? I bought because of price and this card should be slightly better then a 6600gt.

    Thanks for the response.
The article states that some cards are being made ddr1 not ddr3. It appears when you go to the two msi websites there are two versions of this card.
I can't believe that msi would call out the wrong memory. Goto zip and clip the manufacturer website.
Just trying to figure out if this is true abd if anyone has more links about X 800?

  • Dual Display with MSI Nfroce 420D ?

I once read a message that Nview is now funktioning with the MSI board. Now my question would be if you are able to use the integrated graphics core and it's vga out together with an AGP card. Or are you only able to use Nview with the AGP raiser card ? (TV out on on screen and VGA on the other ?)
    Thanks

well you can use dual display. but more on that l8r.
you CANT use onboard and AGP at the same time.
you can use onboard and its AGP riser card to get TV out.. but the TV out is the same image that would be displayed on your main montor... not exented. and at defalt you cant have both on at the same time.. but with" TVtool" that is fixed
now you can get dual diplay from some of the newer AGP cards like gefroce 4 or new ATI cards.
or you get a PCI video card and it will exent your montor.
for more info on dual monitor's go  to http://www.realtimesoft.com/multimon/db.asp

  • Two displays for MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC graphics card ?

Is it possible to have two displays simultaneously connected to this graphics card:
    http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R6950-Twin-Frozr-III-Power-Edition-OC.html#?div=Overview
The card has two DVI-outputs "DVI Output: 2 (Single-Link DVI-D x1, Dual-Link DVI-I x1)".  I can use one display at a time and the second display only shows "No signal" error. I would like to use two displays when playing PC games, is it possible with this craphics card? Both my displays have VGA connector cables, and they are connected to the card with an VGA/DVI adapter.

what monitors you are using and what resolutions you're trying to use?
Both monitors are old models: 1) Panasonic PanaFlat PF90 2) acer AL 707.
I'm not sure what resolution I was using on acer when I tried to connect both monitors, but now I'm using PanaFLat with 1280 x 1024. Maybe I should try to set them both on 1024 x 768 and try again.

  • How to turn display off msi 110w

    Hello,
I use both android and ios devices and when clicking the power button, the display turns off to allow for background tasks to continue running.
Can this be done on the 110w? I'd like the screen off when listening to music or running updates.
Currently when i press the power button, nothing happens, but when i hold it for a few seconds, the tablet sleeps.
    Thanks in advance.

I haven't found a way to do this.
You could set the screen time out to something pretty low so that it blanks if not used after a short time.
I considered that, but found it became quite annoying when I needed the screen to stay on.
I had a program which turned the lcd display off when run, but i'd like the power button to perform that action, not an app.
