No Dock - Frozen Desktop... Please Help!
Hey.
Alright well I have searched and searched this forum and many others and can't seem to find a solution.
The Problem: Yesterday the dock just quit popping up, so I shutdown and restarted this morning. This morning same problem plus i can't select any files on my desktop. I can access stuff through finder but that's it.
I have tried: restarting in safe mode - same problem
fixed corrupted preference files - i'm sure it helped somehow
fixed overlapped extent allocation files - again i'm sure it helped
ran first aid to repair permissions - still same problem
cleaned out all system cache files - no difference
A few other thing i can't recall now
My Specs:
iBook G4 10.3.9
1.33Ghz PowerPC G4
256MB
55.76GB Harddrive
7GB Free
If you can help on ANY WAY please do. I have tried everything I can find and think of. Oh yah, I don't currently have the OS disk.

That depends on how corrupt your system became when the available space was compromised, and how important your data is to you.
DiskWarrior is a powerful utility, that many users report, has resurrected drives, that running Repair Disk from the system install disc, could not repair.
However, if your system became so corrupt that it needs to be reinstalled, you must have the System Install Discs
Please advise if you would like me to post where they are available for purchase.
If you do not have a recent reliable backup, each time you use your Mac, in it's present condition, you are jeopardizing more and more data on the startup drive.

Did you get a charger with the iPad 3?
Could be the charger or cable. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.

Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

I have Cox Internet service, which allows me to control what content other users on my computer see and do. My son has parental controls which do not allow him to view certain websites, download programming, ext... With this last update to Firefox, I am still able to get on the internet, but when he tries to click on the Firefox icon on his desktop it tells him there has been an error and shuts down. He is forced to use Internet Explore. I do not want him using this web browser. Please help us get him back on Firefox.

Disable "McAfee Site Advisor" extension which was just updated to 3.4.0, which probably took it out of the addons block list.
* "Ctrl+Shift+A" > find McAfee Site Advisor and use "Disable", and then restart Firefox.
* Do a Google Search no problem
* It seems that if you re-enable Site Advisor again, and restart Firefox you are okay. At least you know where to look if you get the error again or Google searches slow down. -

The music should be in My Documents-->My Music.
In iTunes go to file-->add folder to library. Find the folder where all the music is, select it, and hit ok.
The music should import and convert.
Any protected files will not import.

Can't find the captured screen file on my Desktop, Please help!
I'm using OS X 10.5.6 for a while but the problem just occurred recently (it worked fine before) I don't know why. I update the system often.
I used the ShiftControl+Command3 or 4 shortcut but it doesn't work, I heard the shutter sound but the file doesn't appear on my Desktop. I did use spotlight to find the file but I found only the old captured images. The Grab utility is still fine but it's a lot easier to use the shortcut function.
If you have a solution, please help!
Thanks.Shift-Command-3 or 4 puts the screen shot as Picture n.png (n being the next available number). Adding the control key to the set instead puts the screen shot on the clipboard to paste in somewhere.

My phone is frozen. Please help
I was using my phone this morning. In fact I had the alarm set and it went off (thankfully). I decided to check my mail prior to leaving the hotel room and my phone is frozen. The time is stuck at 6:38am and I can't do anything on it at all. I've tried to turn it off and it won't. I tried taking the sim out and put it back in and that didn't do anything. Last week I had a problem where it wouldn't access the internet or email and the technician told me to do the sim trick. This time is didn't work.
I really need it fixed please. This is urgent. I'm traveling for work in Oklahoma City this week and I'm away from my family and elderly parents. Please help me.Try pressing and holding both the home button and the sleep/wake button for 10 seconds.

Drag it further away and it should release. It used to be that you just had to drag it off a little bit for it to delete. The new behaviour got introduced at some point in Mountain Lion.

Hello All,
First of all, my apologies for this long post.
I have ben having lots of problems with my macbook and the latest in the series is .. that now I am unable to do anything with my Mac. I just keep getting a Grey screen with prohibited sign.
Tried booting with the OSX tiger DVD's (by pressing the "C")but it wont boot. Tried restting the NVRAM etc, but to no avail.
On trying to boot with the DVD, it stops at 0% and remains there for ever,even when the disk utility doesnt shows any problem with any thing.
Am just clueless, as to what to do? I am facing such problems since 2 months after I bought this macbook. Everytime, I was able to solve it, sometimes by just repairing the permissions, and a few times, by performing clean install. But this time I am totally helpless.
Please help!!!Contact Apple and get it looked at. Sounds like you may have a logic board problem.

Please help. I don't want to pay to at store when the tech guy over the phone said it sounded like an easy fix. Never had a problem with this computer before. Hope someone can help!
If the disk hardware is working properly but the directory on it is very badly scrambled, it might take as much as an hour, though less than half that amount of time is more common. But if the disk hardware is failing, Disk Utility won't be able to repair it at all, and it may keep trying for a very long time (hours) before giving up.

Safari only opens under 1 user,question mark appears over icon in dock...please help,i am clueless
as title says safari opens under wifes user name,it was not in her dock we found it in trash and "put back",then icon appeared on her desk top we put it in her dock,now its in dock and desk top,and other usres cannot open safari,get question mark over icon in dock,we are clueless as u can probably tell any help appreciated

If you found Safari in the Trash it was probably the Safari.app itself. Icons on the Dock do not go into Trash. They drag off and "Poof".
That means that the app, itself is on your Desktop. Choose it and Get Info (command-i). Does it say, "Safari.app"? Drag it back into /Applications folder. Then drag your icon off the Dock and create a new one by dragging Safari.app to the Dock. It will create an alias which is all the Dock icons are.
The question mark means an alias has lost the path to the application. Have your other users drag it off the Dock and drag it from the applications folder to create a new alias on the Dock. -

Message inboxes are frozen. Please help!
I was in my SMS app, and clicked on the menu button. I believe I then clicked on saved messages and was promptly booted from the app. An error screen popped up and now my SMS, email, and messages apps are all incapable of being accessed. Everything else works except for these. When I click on one, nothing happens and the trackball is frozen until I hit the red 'end' button, which allows for the trackball to move again. Please let me know if anyone has any knowledge of how to mend this problem. Thanks.
Have you tried resetting the device by removing the battery for 30 seconds?

My brand new iPod touch 5th gen (silver) i use it a lot and I take really great care if it but just today it's been acting really slow, freezing up all the time, it won't let me open up apps, the notification bar (dragged down) all gone (no markets/weather/noticfications) and never says anything, and the camera. Camera is really bugging me, when you go in the app "camera" I tooka photo, and I went to the left bottom corner and clicked that preview, it shows all the photos there, but it won't let you edit them, share or delete them. But when you go into the photos app, and go to camera roll they aren't there at all.
When I try to open apps, they freeze and then I try to move/delete them and then it freezes, and stops everything. Shuts down, and restarts and like nothing's happened.
Please, this is my first iPod and I really care about this so so much. Please somebody help me with something!!!! Please!!!!Try:

Can't uninstall PALM DESKTOP, please help
I tossed the PALM folder in the garbage but when I try to empty it says Localized.rsrc is in use?
I have diabled PALM apps at start-up, and I don't know what to do. Does anyone have experience uninstalling this app?
Is there a "safe mode" I could log in as to get these files deleted?

But yeah, not sure if it may help, but CleanAPP is a good way to clean up application that you no longer need, alawys a good thing to have handy.
