"no drive found" installing w 8.1 on SSD on Flex 2 15

Dears, I've been going crazy for 1 week, trying and trying everything to make a clean installation of Windows 8.1 64bit on an SSD I bought for my Flex 2 15. I've read thousands of pages of forums, changed 3 different SSDs, but nothing was successfull!(Crucial MX100, Crucial BX100, ADATA SP920SS) every time, during the W8.1 Setup Wizard, it displays "No hard drive found" when I have to choose in which drive to install the OS. My Lenovo Flex 2 15 came with Windows 8.1 pre-installed on a WD hard disk. Please help me.

solved this issue just......changing the SSD I bought a Samsung 840 EVO and it works correctly. Tried Crucial M550 (listed as compatible on Crucial website), Crucial MX1100, ADATA, but nothing with Samsung no issues.

  • Install windows 7 to s110, no CD/DVD driver found

I just bought Lenovo Ideapad S110 netbook. It already has MeeGoo OS installed but I want to install Windows 7 32 bit. So I made a bootable usb using Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool and tried to install Windows 7 using my usb. However I have an error "No CD/DVD driver found" I have tried all three usb slots but there still is that problem. All three slots are USB 2.0. Can anyone please help me with it?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello and welcom,
That error message can also mean that there is a problem with your original Win 7 ISO or the way the USB flash drive was prepared or the copy to USB.  Or perhaps a defective or incompatible USB flash drive. If it is a downloaded ISO, try the download again.
The way I usually make bootable Win 7 installer is this:  use DISKPART to prep the drive - list, select, clean, partition, format NTFS, set active.  Use 7zip to copy  the contents of a downloaded ISO to the flash drive.  If you're using a DVD, just copy the contents.  In either case use an SP1 DVD.
    Maybe you've already tried this.

  • Re: Tecra M2 - Vista cannot be installed - No drives found

When I try to install Vista I get the message - "No drives found". What can I do?
I am 68 and not very computer minded .
The fitting of hard drive and memory were fairly easy HELP!!!!!!!!!

Respect!!! You are 68 and you are still working with computers!!!
I know many older people who dont know how a computer works and would give up
Anyway. I will try to help you as good as I can
According to the error message the Vista cannot see the HDD Am I right?
Are you able to install the Windows XP OS using the Toshiba recovery CD???
In such case we could check if the HDD is not faulty.
Nevertheless you also try to access the BIOS and could check if the HDD was recognized and listed in BIOS.
To access the BIOS you have to press the ESC while powering up the notebook.

  • P6N DIAMOND CAN'T INSTALL VISTA NO MASS DRIVE FOUND

Trying to install Vista and no drive found to install OS. Using Sata Samsung Optical Drive and tring to install to a single Sata WD 150 Raptor. I installed Nraid dirver when prompted using USB and Vista still won't find the hard drive to install. Looking for any ideas. I can access the c: drive through DOS prompt and I formatted there but the Hard Drive is not available in the Vista install screen.

    WD 150 ADFD
    Samsung SATA optical drive
    2GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800
    Seasonic M12 SS600

The HDD is on SATA 1 and the DVD is on SATA 4. The odd thing all this time it was showing in BIOS and I was able to access via command prompt. I did check the BIOS again and the on chip SATA mode was IDE. I had set the BIOS using the optimized defaults until the OS is loaded. I believe the OnChip SATA mode is IDE with that default, I checked it anyway and was set to IDE.
This AM I added the Floppy drive loaded the drivers on a floppy on another computer, booted into Vista and booted into Vista instal and the HDD was shown before I tried to load the drivers. What occurred to finally show up I have NO IDEA. Must be one of the unexplainable computer things. But I was finally able to install Vista and get it up and running!
Thanks for all the help and suggestions!

  • IMovieHD, "No disc burning drive found" and "The movie could not be sent.."

First post in these subject forums. I am posting the same problem in iDVD and iMovieHD which were from iLife'05, but I won't post there.
I loaded iLife'05 and also managed to get iDVD5 loaded although the packaging indicated that I needed to have a 733mhz G4 or faster processor and I have a Prismo Powerbook, 500 mhz and it was successful or maybe not.
Then I opened iDVD, I got this Error message..."The application iDVD could not be opened because the required hardware could not be found"...which makes sense as I have an external Lacie (CD-R,-RW, DVD-R,-RAM,-RW,R,+RW,R DL) burner that I bought about a year ago that my wife also uses on her G4 tower.......... and I did not have it connected. So I connected it and when I opened iDVD again and it still reads: "The application iDVD could not be opened because the required hardware could not be found." Shut down and reboot, no difference.
This probably does not have any bearing on the issue but in the System Profiler for "Disk Burning" there is a parameter "Burn Support" which is "Yes (Unsupported)", should this be "Yes (supported)"?
Question #1: Does iDVD5 only work with an Apple "superdrive" or does it work with other third party "DVD burners" ?
So I used iMovieHD from iLife'05 to create a project of an old family vacation (from an old 8mm Sony Handycam) and wanted to create a DVD, for archive reasons and to view on TV with a DVD player, but I could not do anything because of different errors now in iMovieHD.
File > Share...(a window opens and I choose iDVD and then click the "share" button) and this error comes up:
The movie could not be sent to iDVD, because of an unknown error.
"Please make sure that iDVD is properly installed, that your project disk has write permission, and that you have enough disk space. (Error 0)"
Next I tried: File > Burn Project to Disc......and this error comes up.
    No Disc Burning Drive Found
"If you have an apple-supported disc burner, please check your connections and try again."
The project file is 5.89GB and I have 57.97GB free on the hard drive so I don't think that space on the hard drive is an issue.
Question #2: Is the issue of not being able to create a DVD from iMovieHD related to the iDVD issue although the error messages in iMovieHD and iDVD are different?
Question #3: How are Video DVD's from the Hollywood Studios able to make DVD's longer than 2 hours?
Thanks all for your help in advance. John

One more addition to this post, I opened DVD Player and got this error "There was an initialization error. A valid DVD drive could not be found (-70012)
Maybe this will help give someone a clue.

  • Windows 8.1 installation select the driver to install

    Hi,
I am trying to install windows 8.1 64 bit onto my late 2012 mac book pro retina using the latest version of Maverick.
I have used bootcamp assistant and am installing window 8.1 from a Microsoft created disk.
After progressing through the partition and initial installation without any issues, I have reached a point during the "collecting information" phase and a windows set up dialog box has appeared asking me to select the driver to install.
I have browsed the USB with bootcamp 5.1 on it and the windows disk and "rescanned" but i get a "load driver" dialog box that reads:
"No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contacts the correct drivers, then click ok"
Where will find the correct device drivers if not on bootcamp 5.1 or the windows disk?
I have successfully installed another copy of windows onto an iMac and didn't encounter this problem.
Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

  • No Bootable Drive Found, I HAVE UNIQUE SITUATION

Hello everyone, I would really appreciate some help!
I have a MacBook Pro and I've been trying to download Window 7 on it. Basically, I finally got a bootable flashdrive with Windows 7 on it. I have two actually. One made by Bootcamp, (Someone on youtube showed that altering info.plist on Bootcamp makes Bootcamp format ISO on USB) and one made by a Microsoft program from a different computer WITH windows 7 on it. Now, after formatting however, and after the disk partitions itself, the computer restarts and it says No Bootable Drive Found, Insert Bootable Drive and press any key, or something like that. I RESTARTED WHILE PRESSING ALT-OPTION and the only two things coming up are the Mac OS X , and the recovery. Now, the person with the video has the same model computer as mine and it worked for him, SO PLEASE Don't comment by saying it's impossible. Does someone know the problem? I'm sure the USB is bootable.

    iTheoGamer wrote:

How do you know you have the "exact same problem"? The original poster did not tell us his model and year Macbook Pro, neither did you. So you may or may not have the same problem. If your Macbook Pro came with an internal optical drive, you must use that to install Windows. Until you know for sure that you have the "exact same problem", start your own thread and provide more details.

  • Tutorial: Clone/Installing new hard drive (hdd) & install windows(FAT NTFS)

This is a tutorial for people looking to clone their internal hard drive and install it into their macbook (usually because you've upgraded to a larger hdd). I have also included an installation of windows vis a vis boot camp style. Ive been battling this for the past 3 days, so hopefully this tutorial will answer some questions and save you some time.
    1. Firstly get your external drive (clone) ready. Go to applications---->utilities---->disk utility. Click on your external drive and then partition it. I used 2 partitions, one for mac (200 GB) and one for windows (40 GB). For now partition in GUID partition format (found in options). This is important. You can check whether it actually as in GUID at the end of the format when you click on the drive and on the bottom part of the screen it will give you all the drive information. (NOTE: if you have a standard windows installation you can have 1 partition at this stage and then later let boot camp create a partition for you. Boot camp will only format in FAT, so all windows using NTFS are out of luck).
    2. if you ve decided to go for 2 partitions, format the windows partition into FAT or NTFS. If you are using windows 7 (which by the way, is a pretty good effort by microsoft and WAS free to download on beta), anyways if your using a windows which requires NTFS obviously format so. WINXP runs just fine on FAT and is probably the easier option. (This is a note for those formatting on NTFS; sometimes OSX with have some error in formatting NTFS at this stage, God knows why, dont download NTFS 3G or Disk Warrior, nothing will fix it. Just leave it for now and when your finished cloning and ready to install windows, use the XP CD to boot from and then you will be presented with the option of formatting in NTFS. I did this then exited before the actual XP install to get my windows 7 in there. (NOTE: you cannot clone windows installations, ntfs partitions, etc)
    3. With your external drive ready. Download carbon copy cloner or super duper. I used super duper. So just choose your internal drive and 'backup all files' to your external. This disk will be bootable. It will not be necessary to use a third hdd to restore to. infact i tried both ways of doing it and both worked just as well as each other. No need for a third drive as some have suggested.
    4. Once finished, check out the clone. Restart, just when the mac is starting HOLD down the 'option' key....you will be presented with a list of devices to boot from, choose your external (usb or firewire------> note usb only works for INTEL macs, if your not sure if you have an intel mac. In OSX click on the small black apple on the upper left hand corner of the screen and 'about this mac'....it should say whether its intel or not. Also if your pressing option and you get a padlock wanting a password (like i did), but you dont know the password. Dont worry. Get your OSX installation discs, reboot from those (it will do so automatically). Go to Utilities drop down menu and choose reset firmware password. The other 'reset password' resets the password which would come right before entering into OSX at startup.
    5. Anyways, assuming your all good booting from your external drive, check out drive, whether everything is where it should be. if it check outs your good to go.
    6. Disassemble macbook to install your clone (not that difficult, get a good youtube tutorial for this like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXqJn465lxs and be careful with disengaging your keyboard cable, otherwise its fairly straight forward. I did this about 6 times trying to get everything right and experimenting with installations. So im pretty blase about it
    7. Start up your machine hold OPTION at startup, choose your now internal hdd. Your in. (NOTE: if you reset your firmware password the first time, you will have to do this again with your OSX discs)
    8. If you have a standard windows installation you can download boot camp assistant or alternatively it will already be in applications---->utilities---> boot camp assistant. Boot camp will create you a partition and then ask you to put in the windows installation disc, is fairly automated.
    9. If you decide to do it manually because you have 2 partitions already. Just restart with your windows cd in there and wait for it to boot, if it doesnt, restart, hold option key. Then just go through the usual windows installation, choose the partition with FAT or NTFS.
    10. After all this you will have a working copy of OSX and Windows. I use VMWARE to use windows inside OSX, like a virtual drive. VMWARE has a more straight forward installation then Parallels Desktop (which is apparently faster).... but choose whatever works for you. To look at OSX files through Windows install MACDRIVE and you will be able to view and alter all files as you see fit.
Hopefully this tutorial was of some help. I don t generally read any mac forums so i cant really reply to any questions. I just wanted to post my experience so if someone else out there is searching for answers like i was, then these words will be guide and save you time trawling through numberless webpages......Good luck.

    I would approach the situation as follows;
install Acronis, if your new HDD is from Seagate or Western Digital I believe you can download this free from their support sites.
create an Acronis Rescue Disc and when it's created uninstall Acronis as you don't need it any more.
attach external HDD and ODD and boot from the Acronis Rescue Disc
create an image of the current main HDD to the external HDD
remove current HDD from your X61 and insert the new HDD in it's place - this is very important.
boot from Acronis Rescue Disc and recover the image you created to it.
    Enjoy your new hard drive.
Alternatively, if you can put your original HDD in the external HDD caddy (connectors are the same) or purchase a 2.5" caddy, you could clone after creating the Acronis Rescue Disc, step by step instructions for cloning can be found here.

  • HELP Mac OS X Deleted cannot locate hard drive to install on

Okay I have a 12' in Apple PowerBook G4 I got in winter 2003 and recently somehow the operating system got deleted. It originally came with Mac OS X Jaguar 10.2.7 and I upgraded it to Mac OS X Panther 10.3 -- at the time the problem occurred it was running 10.3.9 Ran Apple Hardware Test using PowerBook CD. I used the Quick Test and it found an error. It suggested I shut down, turn it back on and during restart run Apple Hardware Test again having disconnected all peripherals which I have done -- it now wants me to run the Extended test. I will do so and report the results below. When trying to access Disk Utility to repair the disk the only discs it found were the installation discs I put in the drive. The internal hard drive did not appear. So not only did Mac OS X get erased but the drive to install it on does not show up during the installation process. When I try to run from the main disk I get the Finder error that Mac OS cannot be found.
Okay it is running the Apple Hardware Test Extemded Test for PowerBook version 2.0.5
Elapsed time was 54 seconds. The error code is **ERROR*CODE***ERROR*CODE**2STF/1/4; **ERROR*CODE***ERRORCODE
    AirPort: No device found
    Logic Board: Passed
    Mass Storage: Error Detected
Memory: Has not been run yet
    Modem: Device found
Video RAM: Has not been run yet

Thanks -- I was afraid of that. I called AppleCare and they said the same thing. Unfortunately, this PowerBook as I think I mentioned earlier -- in case I didn't though I got it in November of 2003 and as such by now the warranty would have expired. Second, I lost my Apple serial number for the PowerBook which is bad when needing to get support from Apple on the product.
I'll likely as soon as possible buy a new Apple laptop. Most likely a MacBook or a MacBook Pro as I need an optical disc drive (MacBook Air for me is a non starter) as such a new Apple laptop would be cheaper than repairing the existing PowerBook. With the current recession and the bad housing market I'm going to wait a while and then replace it. Just curious if anyone knows what is Apple's policy on buying back old products that don't work anymore. Do they have a recycling program for their Macs also? I know there is one for recycling old iPods.

    Hi Slape84,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that the Wireless driver is not getting installed in your G580 laptop after re-installing OS (Operating System), I suggest you to check if the Wireless is enabled in BIOS first then try to install the drivers. Below is the steps to access BIOS and check if the Wireless is enabled or not:
To enter BIOS setup utility, press F2 when the Lenovo logo appears on the screen while the computer is starting up.
NOTE: To check how the BIOS menu looks and to explore its options click here.
Now select “Configuration” Tab and enable the “Wireless LAN Support” by clicking on Enter Key when you are on the option.
Then Click on “F10” Key and then YES to save the changes that are done in BIOS, the computer will automatically restart.
Now check installing the Wireless driver in the computer, but and while installing while installing the driver right click on the downloaded file and select “Run as administrator” option to get it installed without any error.
NOTE: Please click on "Select Product" then in "QUICK PATH" enter the model no. as G580 select the exact model.
    Support Drivers & Software downloads
Do post us back if the issue still persists.

  • Windows 7 Only Cancel Button at Clt+Alt+Del After 6500 Driver is Installed

    Hi,
We have a fleet of X201 Tablet Laptops and We use the HP Officejet 6500 Printer.
As soon as version 14.00 of the driver is installed on these machines upon restart rather than a username to click onto to login at Clt+Alt+Del a cancel button is displayed.
The only work around we have found is to rebuild the laptop and then install an earlier version of the 6500 driver.
What is causing this and how do we fix it as some users are installing the latest driver themselfs and breaking the laptops.

The same thing is happening all over the hp forums.  People are updating printer drivers and then the printer doesn't work. Or some functions are taken away.  I have an hp 4280 printer and I'm still using the driver from when I first installed it. Every time hp wants to update, I say no. Mine still works perfect.  There have been 4 updated drivers since my version.
It's not Lenovo and it's not your machine. It's hp's buggy drivers.

  • No Hard Drive Found

My iMac decided to stop working after 2 years. I would only get a white screen when powering on. I tried reinstalling the install disk. When asked what drive to install on, no destination drive found. I installed a new hard drive as all indications pointed to a failed hard drive. Still no destination drive found. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be, or should I just throw this in the circular file.

Sounds like you either have a bad SATA cable, maybe a bad SATA power cable to the HDD, or the logic board's SATA port has crapped out.
The first option is pretty cheap. Just buy a long SATA cable with a right angle connector, and string the new one. If that doesn't fix the problem, the next possibility means replacing some of the PSU cables, maybe even the PSU itself. Not terribly expensive, but extremely annoying, and much harder to find those cables compared to a long SATA cable. If it's the final possibility, part the thing out on eBay or something.
Also, it's LOW-PROFILE circular filing cabinet!
