No duplicates in my Itunes library, but every song is duplicated in my pc behind the scenes.  Any ideas?

I have a large Itunes library of 16,000+ songs and when I am in my Itunes library, there are no duplicates.  But, in my pc, there are duplicates of every song in different file folders.  Does anyone have this issue?

Everything is synced through itunes.  It is not stored in itunes.  itunes is simply a counduit through which photos are synced.
"And a friend mentioned that to move photos I would need to set up a separate ITunes account."
This does not make sense.  Your itunes accoutn whould have no impact on your pics.
Still not sure what your question is.  Please explain what the issue is and what you are trying to accomplish.
You remove photos from iphone the same way you put them there.  the sync process.  Open itunes. Connect iphone. Go to the photo tab.  Select what you want to be on the iphone. Sync

I can select all my duplicates in my itunes library but then can't figure out how to delete them all en masse?

    Hi, Abril_Perez17.
This may be related to a new feature embedded in iOS7 that shows all purchased music by default.  Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music.  See if the issue ceases once the feature has been disabled.  This information is located on page 63 of the user guide below.

    Thanks.

The problem went away on its own. Not sure what was the problem but perhaps somehow the system was out sync internally due installing Lion 10.7.3/Snow Leopard 10.6.8/10.7/10.7.3 with iTunes 6 installing after the 10.7.3 and then needing to be installed again after the second 10.7.3 install from the updater model.
I kept accepting the error message and checking iTunes music file. No podcast downloads were actually rejected.

  • TS1389 I have a missing song on a previously purchased album.  It is listed on my itunes library, but cannot be found anywhere on my computer.  The rest of the album is fine.  How do I re-download it when it thinks I already have?

I bought an album in 2010.  As far as I knew it was complete, but now it shows a ! next to one song on my iTunes library.  When I sync, the song "cannot be found".  The album is still available in the store.
I cannot work out how to re-download the song because my computer and the store think I have it already.
    help please!

Whether you can redownload music depends upon what country that you are in, it can't be done in all countries. What you can redownload will show via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes
If music shows there but that tracks doesn't have the cloud symbol against it for redownloading, then delete it from the Music part of your library (where you are getting the 'unable to locate' message) and it should then get the cloud symbol against it for redownloading.
If you aren't in a country where music can be redownloaded then you don't have a copy of it anywhere e.g. on an iPod or your backup of your downloads/library ?

  • My iP5 will not play any track not purchased from itunes Store, red circle with red square inside appears and skips the track, any ideas?

my iP5 will only play songs purchased formmthe itunes store.
all over songs, uploaded from cd's on my laptop and dragged into itunes will no longer play, a red circle with a red square in the middle appears and skips the track.
anybody know why Itunes / iP5 will no longer play all tracks, has worked for years, only stopped with the latest itunes update.

    Hey Kelsieee,
First, I would try to resolve the issue with the ! in a circle that you're seeing in iTunes. There's some steps in the following article that go over what that ! usually means and how to fix it:

  • My iTunes won't sync my tones (ringtones) to my iPhone 4.  Every time I check "sync tones" my iTunes library says that my iPhone is connected to another iTunes library, but I don't have another iTunes library.  What do I do?

My itunes won't sync my tones (ringtones) to my iphone 4.  every time i check sync tones my itunes library says that my iphone is connected to a different itunes library but i do not have another itunes library.  what do i do?

    Hi HB3207!
I have a couple of suggestions for you to attempt to resolve this issue. First, I would try re-creating your iTunes library following the instructions listed here:
iTunes: How to re-create your iTunes library and playlists
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1451
You may also need to simply try restarting your phone and attempting to sync again after a restart. Information on completing this can be found here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

  • Apps not on iTunes library but on iPhone 5S

Note: when I first created this message a screwup on the keyboard posted the message before I had written more than two sentences.  I hope no one responded to my incomplete message.
For some time now when I elect to install a new iOS release (not at 7.1.1), iTunes always tells me (both iPhone 5S snd iPad Mini) that there are apps on the iOS device that are not from my iTunes library?  Since I install all apps throught iTunes or from the iOS device purchase, how can this be.  I have never broken into iOS to install except by the standard accepted Apple process.
So far, each time, I cancel the update, do a full backup of the device to my desktop computer iTunes (version 11.1.5 (S)).  This time after the backup sync, iTunes transfers 56 purchased apps from my phone according progress status in iTunes.
    Several questions:
       1.  How can I get a list of all the apps in my library AND all the apps on my iOS device, so I can know what I've got in case things get corrupted so I can do a complete restore.
       2.  Why is it reporting apps that are not in my iTunes library.  Every app on my devices were purchased in ITunes on my iMac desktop (OS X 10.9.2) or from the app store icon on my devices home screen?
Without the list I asked for, I'm afraid taht if things go 'south' I won't be able to get back all the apps I purchased.  There are so many apps in the store (not a compllaint but an observation on the size of the task), that I have no idea how I would know which are missing.
How can I get this fixed so I can backup my devices and be confident that I won't lose things.  I allow backup from WiFi (my personal WiFi in my home) when the iOS device is attached to the power.  This happens nightly for my iPhone when I put it in the charge by my bed.  And at  least weekly for my iPad which I plug in as it needs charging.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

Well, your post is very long, so I didn't read the whole thing in detail.
But here are the answers to your two questions.
    1.  You can see the apps in your iTunes library by clicking the "Apps" tab toward the upper left of iTunes (it may say "Music" to begin ... then there is a drop down list).  You can see all the apps on your iOS device in one of two ways:
    a.  Swipe through the various home screen pages on your iOS device and note them.
    b.  While your iPhone is plugged into iTunes, click the "Apps" tab behind the iPhone's summary tab.
    2.  Assuming every one of your apps was purchased using the same Apple ID and password, apps that were purchased or updated on your iOS device will not appear in your iTunes library until you back up the iOS device.  You can get apps that you purchase on your iOS device to download automatically to iTunes by doing iTunes > Preferences > Store > Automatic Downloads > Apps = "check" from iTunes.  But I don't think this would capture app updates.

  • I purchased audio book from iTunes store. It shows up in my iTunes library but is not uploading to my ipod Touch, even though my computer is authorized. Any suggestions?

I purchased an audio book from iTunes store. It successfully downloaded to my iTunes library< but will not upload to my ipod Touch, even though my computer is authorized. Any suggestions? Any and all are greatly appreciated.

If your iTunes is set on manual sync, then you have to manually drag and drop. Otherwise every time yousyncyou'll get all changes even if you don't want it.

  • I am trying to edit my music list and then sync it to my iPhone 5 so I don't run out of storage space. However, I see the check marks on the iTunes library but am unable to uncheck them? How do I manually edit what will be synced to my phone?

I am trying to edit my music list and then sync it to my iPhone 5 so I don't run out of storage space. However, I see the check marks on the iTunes library but am unable to uncheck them? How do I manually edit what will be synced to my phone? (the check marks are not bolded, does this mean they are not in my library but only on my phone?)

You uncheck the music in your iTunes library on your computer and along with sync only checked songs and videos selected under the Summary selection for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, only checked songs in your iTunes library will be transferred to your iPhone or remain on your iPhone and the unchecked songs in your iTunes library that are currently on your iPhone will be removed when syncing.
Or make use of iTunes playlists and choose selected playlists, albums, artists under the Music selection for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes and select the playlists below that you want transferred to your iPhone.

Go back to iTunes, select the Music tab, uncheck the 'sync music; button, then hit apply.

  • How to delete items from itunes library but not from computer

I was wondering if there is a way to remove items from my itunes library but still keep them on my computer in case I want to put them back in the library later. For instance, I bought the first season of Desperate Housewives, which takes up about 4.5 GB, and since I have the 30 GB ipod and lots of personally ripped DVDs, I'm running out of room. But it seems a waste to trash the files, since I paid for the show. I know I should back up the files to an external source anyway, and I've done that with my purchased music, but I don't have a DVD burner, and I'm not sure how many CDs it would take to back up the show. And I don't want to manually update the ipod because I think it's much easier to just plug it in and let it do its thing. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Go to that File(s) and right-Click to Remove; then it will ask you if you want to send it to the Recyle bin or Keep Files on your computer; Say Keep Files on your computer and should be fine.

  • HT1751 I successfully captured a recent itunes library, but then all the songs have "!" marks next to them and won't play. I have thousands of songs in multi folders of my external hard drive, surely there is a way to auto locate all songs on my hard driv

My desktop PC recently crashed and I'm trying to recapture all of my iTunes library playlist and songs. I was able to successfully capture the library, however when I tried to play a song, all have the exclamation mark "!" on them and ask that I locate the song. I successfully located some, but there has to be an automatic way to do this, rather than finding each one. I have thousands of songs located in multiple folders of my exteernal hard drive and need a way to find all songs automatically. Can someone help? Thanks!

This "original file cannot be found" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .
